Guest Reviews
- Gordon (8/5): Spring in the Raincouver - Strategic location and cleanliness. We can’t really control the room temperature
- Gordon (8/5): Dry Vancity - Location and cleanliness The removes the complimentary bottled water in my last 2 visits which I used to appreciate for late night arrivals.
- Sharon (7/5): Although the room was stuffy and hot, I would make due and choose the place again for valu - It was clean, and the room was spacious. The washroom was close. The room felt close and hot. Had to open the window or turn on the fan to circulate air. The duvet was too warm-a sheet or light blanket would have been more comfortable.
- HYOJEONG (8/5): -
- Jannah (8/5): Enjoyed our stay here! - Location and easy check in process Room was extremely hot and a big cramped
- Jeffrey (8/5): - The basement rooms are disappointing. After the first night we were moved to the main floor, which was much better, including kitchen and bathrooms
- Harrison (10/5): Great experience - Comfy, good facilities Location, but that’s just because I was unfamiliar with area
- Marco (9/5): - Clean just the room was a bit small
- Eileiah (8/5): -
- Verne (3/5): I should get a refund my stay was awful … - There was none Incredibly noisy. Constant doors banging , crashing traffic outside my door and directly across hall in bathroom, it was brutal both nights. I was exhausted from travelling and couldn’t get any sleep …CONSTANTLY JARRED AWAKE. And no tv
- Caleb (1/5): Hosts purposefully mislead people. - The location The lies, bait-and-switch, and the false advertising. Our complaint was that the area we were staying in (the basement) was not advertised in the Booking.com site and we were only shown pictures of the upstairs kitchen and living room, where we thought we would be staying. Their advertisement is severely misleading and the basement suite we were given is not mentioned at all in the ad. They only posted 2 photos from the basement suite in their ad (one bedroom and the bathroom which makes it look like all one unit, however, they are separate and have different doors + codes). They are renting this house out as 2 separate portions (top floors and then bottom/basement suite) and they give you no indication as to which one you will be staying in). Not to mention the fact that it is illegal in Vancouver to rent out the bottom floors and the top floors as separate rental units without a business license (I am assuming this is why they mislead and lie on their account so that they can rent out 2 separate areas under one Booking.com advertisement). The unit was very dirty as you can see in the pictures of the kitchen appliances and we felt gross having been lied to and stuck in this grungy suite.
We reached out to the owner without much success as they said the upstairs portion of the house was also fully booked for the weekend.
- Gordon (8/5): Rainy days in Vancouver - Strategic location and clean. The room was too warm at times.

- Gordon (8/5): Holidays in Van City - Near a bus stop, clean and affordable Inability to control the room’s temperature.
- Gordon (8/5): The weekend at Pender - Value, location, and general cleanliness. This time I got a smaller room than my previous stays.
- Karla (10/5): -
- Josh (8/5): Was fine. Privacy was great. Maybe i would have a better experience next time - House is beautiful. Location is good to get around Too hot and a man would yell in the middle of a night

- Zoe Krammer (5/5): - The room and kitchen badroom was good. The owner was really gentle. The people living there no respect for anyone. Yelling talking through the phone super loud for hours. My room was facing the kitchen and no matter the time (11pm 4 am ) people talking really laugh or cooking like they were alone making noises.
The walls of the room were really thin so I can hear every noise.
- Mia Dave (9/5): it was a good stay - the location- its close to pacific coliseum where i am attending a concert. property is clean. no tv!
- Gordon (10/5): -
- Jenilyn (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay in Pender home. Near at the Pacific Coliseum - We really like and appreciate that they accommodate us to check in early and they transfer us to bigger room on the first night, but supposed to be on the 2nd night we gonna transfer room but they said we can transfer right away. Thank you so much Maybe if there is TV for entertainment.

- Daniel Rioja (8/5): -
- Sarah (2/5): Restless, hot and won't be staying there again. - Unfortunately not very much. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The room was a south facing room, so sun all day, windows had been left open so when we arrived the heat was totally unbearable it was +35 degrees outside and was actually cooler than in the room. After shutting the windows and closing the blinds, we turned on the fan provided, unfortunately this just pushed around the hot air. I contacted the property, explained the situation and asked if they had a portable air conditioner, the reply was sorry to hear that, it will get cooler in the evening. It did get cooler, 4am the next morning. After 2 hours sleep we then had a very long day's riding on motorcycles. A restful nights sleep was not achieved. Oh and half of the bathroom was out of service!
- Adriana (6/5): - Bed was suuuper comfy! Location was good, with the R5 bus you can get to downton Vancouver very fast. Cleaning could be improved. Very pricey for what it offers...
- Matthew (7/5): -
- Mark (5/5): -
- Lauren (6/5): It was fine for two nights but probably wouldn’t stay again. - The location and having the lower floor to myself. The neighbours were noisy, the bed wasn’t very comfortable and you could hear the guests in the floor above.
- Michael (9/5): -
- Ranjit Crofton (8/5): - I had a pleasant stay and is very closed to buses that go to Vancouver CBD Well it is very basic and ok ..not a 5 star place
- Brett7777 (3/5): Ok if desparate. - location No parking, level of facilities was low. For example the bathroom has a four-bulb light fitting above the mirror, but only one bulb in place so the three open sockets are an electrocution hazard.
- Ross (8/5): -
- Leah (6/5): Just Okay - The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Place was in a good location, despite a loud event at the PNE (nearby). Bedroom was clean. Room was tiny and way too warm. No fan of any kind. Lots of trash in yard. Mildew in shower. Both doors to outside were unlocked when I arrived.
- somayeh (8/5): Clean enough! - Quiet and easy access just by one bus from downtown You have to pass some homeless area to reach the house!
- Valerie (8/5): -
- Laura (9/5): -
- Nicolás (8/5): Good value for a stay in Vancouver - Good price and location, still close enough to the city center. The shared bathroom was clean and the bed was very comfy.
- Hong (9/5): -
- Krasen (8/5): -
- Yeshambel Tesfa (6/5): - There is a public transit close to the house.

- Paul (7/5): It was okay for one night. Room was cramped but comfortable enough. I didn’t use the kitchen. Bathroom was tired but a -
- Nanda (1/5): The place was filthy, unsafe, misrepresented, and the host was dismissive - avoid at all costs. - I did not like anything about the property. This was by far the worst place I’ve ever booked via Booking.com. When I went inside, the place was filthy and had a terrible smell the minute we entered. The windows were grimy, semi-opened, and felt unsafe offering no ventilation and no protection from the constant street noise.
The rooms inside were way smaller compared to how they were detailed via booking.com.
What made it worse was the host’s attitude. When I messaged about the issues they gave dismissive responses. Clearly, they don’t care about their guests.
I checked out early and booked a hotel just to salvage the rest of my trip. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this listing entirely.

- Andrea (9/5): -
- Yaroslav (8/5): -
- Peter (7/5): - Conveniently located with good public transport connections to the city center. The host is very friendly and easy to communicate with. The place is small and clean, though a bit dated and in need of some minor repairs here and there. Perfectly fine for a short stay of 1–2 nights, and quite affordable by Vancouver standards.
- Amanda (7/5): - Good Location
Easy check in
Easy comms re check in
Value for money Could do with a more thorough clean. Hair in bath ( I know it was out of order but still not nice to see hair etc)
Dust.
Dirt on walls.
- Gordon (7/5): Summer in Van City - Clean and tidy The owner moved me to a different property due to leaking. I didn’t like that the replacement property was far away from the downtown.
- Renaud (10/5): Close to transit. Quiet - Very clean. Charming Chinese man didn’t speak any English lol
- P.i.m. (10/5): - Wat een rust wat een nette plek. Wat ver van uit vancouver centrum
- Ricardo (6/5): -
- Gayatri (5/5): -
- Luke Ze Yu (7/5): Good value for Vancouver - Washing machine and dryer. Kitchen. Good location; across the way from the Rapid Bus. Responsive host. Unclean in some places. In particular, between the bed and the wall.
- Lidia (9/5): -
Keuken was vies.
- Annalise (7/5): - Dishes in the drying rack were never put away.
- Pierfranco (6/5): -
- Matteo (8/5): -
- Lee (7/5): -
- Decie Marie (10/5): I love the place, its clean, quiet and the location is perfect. -
- Aerielle (8/5): Convenient and perfect for my purpose of travel - I specifically booked the property because of it's close location to Pacific Coliseum. The property owner initially provided me details for a different property I assumed they also owned, but when I mentioned that I wanted to be close to Pacific Coliseum, the owner acknowledged but did tell me the room might be a bit smaller but still cozy. I only had small backpack and duffle bag so the small space wasn't much of an issue. Bed was so comfy and while there was no air conditioning, I didn't even need to use the fan in the room at night because I thankfully experienced cool nights during my stay. There was a window, but I kept it closed because there was no screen that will keep bugs from coming into the room if I opened it, so it might feel a bit stuffy for some. The room I was assigned to, as I mentioned, was small so it might not cater to guests with luggage bigger than carry on baggage. I do appreciate the owner letting me know that the room was small.
- Marek (10/5): Price and room still the best in Vancouver - Big room 304 with bathroom still the best like it a lot maybe I book it again for WM 2026 Rechargeable not the best
- Jodi (10/5): It was a perfect location for our needs, and they were very kind. - The property replied immediately and assisted us when we had a late arrival and departure. I greatly appreciated their immediate responses and cordiality.
- Wilde (1/5): Didn’t stay.. called guy .. he did not care - I did not stay..absolutely horrible place .. dirty yard snd sketchy neighborhood . Too afraid to stay.. no TV ..paid for another place. I should be getting a refund.. This place should have charged 50 maybe. Brutal
- Vitalii (8/5): - Great location and value for money.
- Maxence (6/5): -
- ellis (8/5): Perfect for what we were doing - Bed was comfortable. Was very central for the activities we were doing and bus route is right there. The people that were staying in the other rooms were very nice. Parking available. House was fairly quiet. It was unfortunate that the jet tub didn't work. Probably could be a little cleaner, but you get what you pay for and it was definitely good enough for us. No TV was a surprise, but we had my projector which was easy to set up in the room.
- Liu Li Hong (10/5): -
- Priyadarshini (1/5): Avoid staying here if you can - There was nothing I liked about this property. About 10 days before my visit, I was informed that there would be "upgrades" to the property and it would open for the public "next week." I immediately responded, enquiring if this would affect my booking and was assured that I had no reason to worry. At 9 pm the night before my reservation, I was told that my booking was being moved to another property. Upon inquiring about the reason, I was informed that there was a water pipe-related issue. I checked on Booking.com and realized that the new accommodation costs less than what I was paying for my current one, so I asked for a refund for the difference or a cancellation. None was offered, and I was finally asked to stay on in the property that I had initially booked. The communication was confusing and not clear at all, with a lot of back and forth needed late into the night to get the simplest details clarified.
Finally when we reached the accommodation, it was a tiny room in a house that lacked maintenance. There were maybe 5 or 6 such tiny rooms in the house, some with shared bathrooms, some with an attached one like ours. There was mould in the bathroom, with a bathtub that was not functional, and the toiletries were just kept on the shower floor because there was not even a shelf to store them. The room was stuffy, with no air conditioning and only a tiny crack to open the windows, and a tower fan. The kitchen was also not clean. For the price I paid for the property and the hassles I faced interacting with the property owner, this property deserves a negative rating.
