Guest Reviews
- David (6/5): A lovely town, and this is a good value stop-off. - A nice quiet location, and the room had everything we needed. The plumbing pump is a bit noisy if a tap, shower or the toilet is used.
The shower was not good.
- Claire (10/5): Wonderful - Lovely place to stay. Everything was perfect
- Lucy (9/5): Comfortable and private. - Perfect place to stay in Whitstable. Great for our bikes and easy to walk into town. Very comfortable. Great to have cereals for breakfast, especially when travelling light on bikes. Thank you
- Rahman (9/5): -
- Bridget (10/5): - Quiet
Clean
Comfortable
Real milk in the fridge Nothing, it was really lovely
- Dan (9/5): Fantastic place in Good position for town. - Great position Nothing it was as described. Warm and comfy
- Silly sausage (8/5): - Cute little bunker with everything you need for an overnight. The walk to town was further than expected. After a night out walking back down the dark alley is challenging.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Oates (10/5): - Loved the little bunker, it was so cozy and beautifully decorated, and location was perfect just out of central Whitstable to be quiet but close enough to walk in. Nothing, it was all lovely
- Patrick (10/5): Loved it would definitely stay again - Very cute and out the way If I was to ultra picky I’d say the shower but it did what it needed to do
- B. (9/5): Gateway to Whitsable, bunker with style - More than a clean room, a single room with ambience given by wooden timbers, and a little colourful wallpapering. Also outdoor seating. Couples should like for getaway. As advertised there wasn't a provided 'meal option'. But supplies for a light breakfast were provided (choice of two cereals, yoghurt, milk). Had to read other reviews to check that these were left for current visitor. Convenient location near town centre and railway. Owner responsive to enquiries. Able to drop off baggage earlier than check in time option. I only booked one night. I could have stayed longer. For access or for returning at night, access is via paved flat footpath away from street lights. Only advised this day prior to visit, so for somebody already journeying no opportunity to get light beforehand if needed. Method for key access, a little complicated, and though carefully explained, still took a little time after all successfully unlocked, to work out how to actually open key storage area.
- Kim (9/5): Perfect stay - Beautiful little gem hidden away,it had everything you needed,a lovely touch with the milk and yogurts, bed was comfy i slept very well,I'm from whitstable originally, so i came back for a party the location was perfect,I would highly recommend, and would definitely stay again
- Colin (10/5): Birthday weekend away - Quiet secluded , very cosy
Only 10 mins walk to harbour
Owner was lovely and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in whitstable
- BigAl (8/5): - It was ok and near to the town and did have a/c with a little fake grass garden area to sit in. Very private No TV, garden a bit untidy, generally clean but not in little areas like behind the toilet area, but ok for the price
- Ricky (8/5): -
- p (8/5): - Well equipped and cosy Needed a little loving care in the garden and exterior. A tv would be good
- Brian (9/5): We had a lovely stay, very cosy cabin. - It's a good location, bus stops 1 minute walk. Very quiet location. Cabin is well equipped. Iron, hairdryer, microwave all utensils and cutlery, Kettle. The AC is very good, hot and cold. There is also an electric radiator on wheels the we left on low at night as the night was cold, worked perfectly. Bed was very comfortable. There is a table and chairs on the front porch and recliners in the garden. There is lots of parking on the street and a place on the owners drive. It is in its own private area at the bottom of the owners garden. Owners are very nice. We will definitely stay here again. Around the cabin needs a bit of tlc on the garden. The door was hard to close and lock from the inside. The owner didn't know this, so he's going to sort it now I've let him know.

- Geraldine (7/5): Super location, comfortable accommodation! - The location is great as very close to Whitstable town. The cabin is nicely decorated and comfortable. We appreciated the tea/coffee, milk yoghurts etc. It was a nice touch. There is no parking for this cabin. The owner kindly allowed us park at her house but there is no actual parking. The alley way by the house does not have lighting and at night one can feel a bit nervous walking down here.
- Robin (2/5): - Looked nice in the photos Cold, dirty, smells of damp
- Gary (1/5): Nice looking place...but it is basically a shed in someone's garden! - It looked really good in the pictures, cute to look at The fact it was in someone's back garden , and it took me 4 attempts to contact customer service, who where not helpful at all, this property was not as advertised, it didnt state you had to walk down a secluded footpath, which didnt smell too good, the pictures on the site make it look like it is beside the sea, or gives that impression, the owner was very nice and it looked comfortable enough, however my wife didnt feel safe or at ease being where the 'chalet' was situated, as we where attending a family party, and travelled over 260 miles, it was a shock, it looked clean and well maintained but it just wasn't for us
- Zicen (10/5): -
- Nayak (10/5): -
- Danny (10/5): - The location was great for what we needed. It's a short drive to the harbour. Private area with own access from parking. Perfect for a couple. Nice little touches, very quaint and very comfy bed. Great price for the night. Thankyou 💕
- Ma (10/5): I stayed for 1 night solo as I really needed a night to be away and had been struggling with sleep. It was decorated bea -
- Sanger (10/5): Lovely stay good facilities very clean and hospitable - Perfect little overnight stay
- Stephen (9/5): Very clean comfy A very good feel about the place -
- Cheryl (8/5): - It was lovely and clean had everything we needed, close too town, very quiet and easy access and we were allowed to park on the driveway - thank you so much It would have been perfect if the bed wasn’t so uncomfortable it dipped and when we turned over it made a god awful noise so not much sleep was had it’s such a shame as we loved it there
- Niko (7/5): - Having milk and cereal was a nice touch Was a little cold
- Robinson (8/5): Bijou Bunker Feb 2026 review. - The price. Owners answer the messages sent very quickly.
Off road parking. Seating was available outside, but we stayed in February, so the weather wasn't kind. Water milk cereal teabags coffee kettle dishes cutlery all supplied. Towels & shower gel provided. It's a wooden built bedroom with a shower & toilet. The walk up the side of the house to the Bijou Bunker on the public footpath has no lighting. The torch on your phone(s) are very useful.
- Joe (10/5): -
- Helen (9/5): - Lovely little place, bed was comfy and the host had put the heating on for us, was really please as provided a 40 banner and balloon as requested and as an extra, a bottle of proseco which was a nice touch. Easy to get too, tea and coffee provided and clean and tidy. Easy to walk to whistable seafront too. Nothing major, just hedge as you enter the property could do with a cut back and the extractor fan was bit noisy. Parking was a bit of a pain but that was due to football being on which was out of the hosts controll so may want to check before booking.
- Nevil (10/5): -
- Chrissie (9/5): - It had everything I needed including cereal, with yogurt, milk and water in the fridge .A big comfortable bed, and quirky furnishings. Would definitely stay again. Nothing
- Lorraine (9/5): -
- Giles (9/5): Great value, good location, just what was required for a night’s stay. -
- Geraldine (7/5): -
- Wayne (8/5): Lovely welcome from owner , location to town centre was great - The room was pleasent clean and tidy with water breakfast cereals and yogurt laid on fridge and small kitchenette
- WENDY (7/5): did what we needed it to do. Clean, tidy, compact - In ideal location for what we wanted. Nice to have cereal/milk supplied. Very private Gate entrance very over grown so got wet when trying to open gate in dark.
- Stella (9/5): - I stayed for one night with my 7-year-old. The property is located in a residential area, about a 22-minute walk from the beach or 7–10 minutes by car. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, which is always appreciated.
You access the property via a footpath through the back garden gate. Everything was spotlessly clean, and there were some thoughtful touches such as cereal, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, and two yoghurts. These were especially appreciated as we checked in late and didn’t have time to stop by a shop — thank you!
The property was quite warm since it was a hot day, but this was easily resolved by turning on the air conditioner, which worked perfectly. So did the shower.
We really enjoyed our stay — thank you so much!
- Busra (10/5): - The owner is very helpful and kind. Room is clean and cozy. The weather was so cold. But she already opened the heating. And room temperature was good. To be honest nothing for me. But maybe someone cannot like the mattress.
- Sabine (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - Cosy and romantic. Absolutely loved it. The bed is a bit squeaky.... Squeaky bed but otherwise was perfect.
- Jenny Phil (8/5): - Good area nice place Everything was good
- Nick (7/5): Relatively good for a short stopover, reasonably affordable and close to town. - On the positive side: the independent style of accommodation, the quietness (off street), the sense of wooden coziness inline with the heating been turned on, the muller yoghurts and cold water that I found in the fridge after hours on my bicycle and the relatively short distance from town did reflect positively on the price I paid for my one night stay whilst passing through Whitstable. However, hygiene and cleanliness is a big one for this customer and having served the hospitality and accommodation industry for many years these are naturally one of the first I will spot when there is something obvious to be spotted. And by the way, cleanliness or hygiene should never be different depending on how much one has paid for accommodation, even when it’s a small family run business. Therefore, finding hairs on the hand basin and in the shower wasn’t pleasant for me at all. Not been able to determine whether the towels had actually been washed or not as there was no scent or any after washed fluffiness wasn’t comforting either, while it’s always hard enough to sleep under duvet covers that one knows are washed once in a blue moon, in most places I must add.
Now a couple little less important things about the very dark alleyway (a small light at the wooden door would make any person feel safer even if they didn’t fear the dark), the noisy water pump, the fixed shower head to the ceiling and the fact that I had to read a mile-long of instructions to get my keys and check-in, I mean it finally worked and got in and rested but knowing your been watched on cameras and for nobody to even rock-up, at least during check-out to ask if everything was ok…I found somewhat bizarre and surely ignorant. This is the hospitality sector I’m referring to and while I knew I wasn’t at a stared hotel, nor am I one for long conversations, “checking-in and out” without anyone there at any point felt like I was in the so called “Microstay rooms.”
Therefore, I’m not sorry for being honest but am sorry about what brought me to this review, therefore hope you perceive my input as constructive, given that I never even met you (hence the poor smiley about staff).
- Rachel (9/5): A lovely stay in a beautiful cabin - Gorgeous cabin with the comfiest bed and its own entrance. Only a 10 min walk to the high street and 15-20 to the beach. There were cereals and yoghurts, tea/ coffee/ milk, water in the fridge and shampoo/ conditioner/ shower gel in the shower. A lovely little festive getaway! Nothing, was great!
- s (8/5): Lovely little place - Nice little place. Milk left in fridge for me upon arrival. Comfortable stay everything you need. Was left completely alone to enjoy my stay. Quick to respond to any messages sent For me bed far to soft. Maybe need a little tv
- Matt (10/5): -
- Alice (7/5): - The bijou was as described, it was clean, comfy & had everything you need. It waa difficult to get in as the gate was a bit jammed but the owner sorted it.
- Paul (8/5): A comfortable stopover in lovely underrated Whitstable - Cosy , prewarmed, extras and local info provided.
Helpful hosts. Location difficult to find in the dark
- Cathy (7/5): - Very Cosy, nice to have a microwave n fridge, everything needed for a short break. Garden looking bit scruffy,
- Chris (9/5): -
- Charles (10/5): -
- isabel (8/5): - Room very warm and clean owner very kind and helpful Happy as is
- Donna (10/5): - Lovely little place, very cute the owner had put the heating on for us as we arrived late evening which was fab.tea, coffee, milk cereals all available. For £55 a night it's a great little find . New mattress needed on the bed it was practically swallowing me up 😆,apart from that nothing x
- Beverly (7/5): Great value for money in November - Ita really comfortable and lovely touch of milk water granola cereal and yoghurt
Bed was great as was heating etc The access lane and getting in the gate in the dark was not ideal
- Tracey (9/5): -
- David (9/5): -
- Rich (10/5): - This tiny home was just perfect for 2 people. There was plenty of space for our luggage and there is an outdoor patio. It was only a 10 minute walk into town. The town has a lot restaurants and pubs. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful.
- Sean (8/5): - Great location, parking included. Shower a little tight but functional

- Karen (10/5): Excellent property. A real gem. - Wonderfully equipped. Everything was clean, comfortable and just right. A hideaway with a garden too and so peaceful. We had a lovely stay and will definitely return. Nothing all good.
- Kevin (10/5): -

Noisy macerater toilet.
Dark alleyway to gain access into property

- Nevil (10/5): -
- Claire (8/5): -
- Marco Dante (9/5): Soggiorno a Whitstable - La casetta era veramente uno spettacolo. La città di whitstable è davvero una piccola perla affacciata sul mare del Nord. Assolutamente da vedere. Il materasso è un po' troppo morbido per i nostri gusti.
- BARRY (8/5): A great find, a comfortable base to explore Whitstable from. - Clean, tidy and private The garden could do with a tidy up.
- PB. (7/5): -
- Corinna (10/5): -
- melanie (9/5): -
- Chris (8/5): Cute, comfortable cabin with a lovely host - Good location not far from Whistable centre
Nice decoration in the cabin
cereal and yogurt provided for breakfast the space outside the bunker isn't well maintained, feels quite messy
- Annemiek (9/5): - Heerlijk schoon voor 1 nacht
- Abigail (8/5): A lovely base to visit the Kent seaside! - Charming setting, comfortable bed, thoughtful provision of chilled water and breakfast items (granola, yoghurts, tea, milk), good wifi, ability to use off-street parking in front of owner's house
- Michela (10/5): Exceptional - beautiful everything nothing to complain
- Susan (7/5): A very comfortable stay - It was lovely to see all we need for breakfast which was supplied, as well as water. Good location with a lovely walk along the sea front to the Main High Street with Shops and Restaurants.
- Valerie (8/5): Bijou bolthole! - The privacy, the shower, the provisions left in fridge, the price, the location. We were eating at the fabulous Sportsman in Seasalter and Ubers easily found us in the road behind the building and were very reasonable. The noisy macerating toilet..but unavoidable in a garden building I suppose.
Husband bemoaned lack of a TV..I didnt care!
- Emma (10/5): Lovely little cabin for weekend away - Excellent base for a weekend in Whitstable. About 20 min walk from centre of town/beach. Great value
- Suzanne (8/5): Good value for money - Bed was very comfortable. Parking. Bathroom
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Great private location. We loved everything
- Jodie (8/5): Very comfortable for a one night stay and good value for money. - It was very well decorated and comfortable. The provision of breakfast items and tea and coffee facilities were a lovely touch. The location was an easy 15 minute walk into town. The noisy sanitation system.
- William (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed. Slept well. Furnishings basic but everything worked well. Very nice to be given cereal and yoghurt for breakfast.
- Gepc (6/5): Did the job for one night. - OK for a short stay, Cereal, plus milk and water in the fridge. Nice area to sit outside and chill. Air con was effective. Bed linen was clean but looked slept in (slight sweat smell too).
- Jan (8/5): I enjoyed - I found the Bijou Bunker very well equipped
- Dawn (8/5): Very good - Lovely location. Easy walk to the shops, restaurants and seafront. Accommodation was a hidden gem. Private garden is a sun trap, great for relaxing in. Really felt welcomed by the hosts. There were cereals, milk and yoghurts for us on arrival which was a lovely touch. The bunker had everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely stay here again when we're in the area.
- Gretel (8/5): Excellent communication! - The property was clean and warm, it was perfect for what we needed. The host was lovely and would have been there if we had needed them! Nothing
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Tanya let us use the parking space for the whole of the day when we checked out. This was very helpful to us. The sink drained a bit slowly, we told the owners, so I'm sure this will get sorted
- Ramon (9/5): Superb - Easy self check in, very accessible to town and seaside, it has all the basics you need for the stay including some cereals, milk and yoghurt.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Loved the idea. Great location. Would use again. The pump was a bit noisy in the bathroom but other than that it was perfect. Thoroughly recommend it.
- Gemma (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (5/5): Passable - Good location and nice decor. Was dusty and the floor hadn't been cleaned very well which made me feel uncomfortable. Would benefit from more storage (for bags) and hooks. The garden needs some tlc. I wouldn't fancy walking down the footpath after dark by myself.
- Paul (8/5): Great location and competitively priced. Unique over night stay and better than staying in a hotel so made our weekend t - Very unique and perfect location for walking into town. Very quiet also. Shower cubicle was a bit on the small side and the bed needed re-tightening as we sat on it when we arrived and thought it was come apart. However more comfortable than expected to sleep in.
- Deborah (10/5): A superb hideaway ! - It was so sweet , had the most comfortable bed ever . Really thoughtful and kind touches, like having milk and breakfast supplied . Lovely furnishings too and birds in the morning .
