- ZHENHONG (10/5): - This is an old hostel, the owner is very nice, always welcoming to give some suggestions. And this place is super clean, nice kitchen as well. When I was there I felt like home. Nothing complain.
- Lee (10/5): - Bill은 친절했고 무엇이든지 도와주려고 노력했습니다. 그의 부지런하게 호스텔을 청소하고 정리합니다. 덕분에 호스텔은 늘 깨끗합니다.
- Valentin (10/5): One of the best hostel I've been (which means a lot) - All great:
* staff very friendly and helpful,
* breakfast amazingly good,
* hostel is well located near by the bus station and with panaderia, restaurants just at the corner or few blocks
* very clean, staff was even ordering the fridge when I was there, this is rare.
- Tiago (10/5): 10/10 hostel, amazing hosts, clean, accomodating, great breakfast - Bill is the man, super friendly and fun, connecting everything, knows a lot of shit and is overall just a really nice friendly person to talk with, I had a blast shooting the shit with him few times ahah
His wife (Sus...? not sure how to spell name/remember well, sorry eheh) is also super nice and accomodating and made us some great, super tasty tacos! And she bakes her own amazing bread for breakfast as well!
Also its literally the cleanest hostel I ever remember staying at, everything is quite pristine and the beds are SUPER COMFORTABLE - made me realize I should probably work on my bed situation back at home ahah Just staying two nights. :)

- Luke (2/5): Would be a nice place if there wasn't mould. - Location was very close to the bus station + a short walk into town.
The owner was nice - Edit: I take this back, he sent me an angry whatsapp after I left this review. As a business owner you have to be able to take feedback and fix issues for your customers - not complain the issues were called out. There was mould in the wallpaper and ceiling of the bedroom. Black mould around the bathroom (shower + sink). The bedding was clearly unwashed (dirty + smelt) - we slept in sleeping bag liners and covered the pillows in clothes. We arrived very late and had no other options but to stay for the night. When the shower upstairs was turned on, you could hear the water falling on something metal as if you were in the bathroom with them.
This was the downstairs bedroom. Reviews seem to be really good for this place, so perhaps the other bedrooms are OK? If so, they need to fix up that downstairs room immediately. Being a hostel is not an excuse for mould or unwashed bedding. I've stayed in 60+ hostels during my travels and never experienced this.
- Kira (10/5): - Bill and his wife Susan are kind and hospitable folks with a heart of gold. I was in a stressful situation where the airline lost my luggage the day before my hike, and Bill and his colleagues helped check for my bags at the airport and communicate with the airlines. I don't think I would have made it to my hike without them! So incredibly grateful for the warm environment and local hosts. It was the perfect place to stay at the beginning and end of my O trek. Close to the bus station and everything you need.

- Michelle (10/5): A great launch point for the W trek - The location of this hostel is perfectly located near the bus station and is a short walk to the rest of town. The host, Bill, is extremely knowledgable about Chile and Torres Del Paine National Park. It was a huge bonus that Bill is a native English speaker, so it was comfortable and easy for us gringos to get some useful information about the park. Bill recommended an alternative trail fork to take on the W trek and this was a highlight of our trip. We rented the ensuite room and it was large and spacious, which proved to be very useful for rearranging our bags for the W trek. Bill allowed us to store a small number of bags while we were on the trek. The breakfast is simple bread/biscuits, but the main star is the Calafate jam that we adored. We picked up a few jars for friends and family back home. Overall, had a great stay at Erratic Rock and would definitely stay here again. We rented the ensuite bathroom room and the noise from the rest of the downstairs was a bit loud with folks using the kitchen and living room. All other rooms appeared to be upstairs and are most likely a bit quieter. Bring ear plugs (as you should in all hostels) and you'll be just fine.
- Ashlyn (10/5): Exceptional - Great facilities, great location, comfortable, and super helpful for planning/prepping for Torres del Paine !!
- Dave (8/5): Wonderful stay. Would like to return in future. Stay chill ER! - Awesome old school feel, great host Bill and Chicana take chill to the next level. Knowledgeable about the town and the park. Very welcoming experience. Older building very near the bus terminal for the early bus into Lake Amarga access point to Torres del Paine NP, maybe could use a new coat of paint in places. But, it does feel cozy and home away from home… the way it is.
- Laura (10/5): Makes you feel like home - Everyone is very nice and knowledgeable in case one is still looking for some hike or what to do in town. The room, bathroom and kitchen are clean and the breakfast is available from super early which is nice if you have an early tour. You can also use the kitchen to cook and store things in the fridge. The location is just a few minutes walking from the bus terminal and it’s easy to walk to the city center or supermarkets too. Would stay here anytime again.
- Lili (8/5): Very good -
- Andres (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (8/5): Cosy stay great location - Fantastic location, owner is super warm and friendly and helpful with information, you can find out everything you need to know and get great recommendations for equipment. Basic facilities, a little bit dated, but well maintained and I felt cosy and comfy here, and at ease as a solo female traveller. Thanks Bill and Susan!
- Shellie (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Big room, clean, nice kitchen to use, lovely breakfast available also early in the morning (though just sweet, no cheese or similar), Bill was so nice and when we forgot our food in the fridge, he organised to bring it to the park for us! N.a.
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Lovely place in Puerto Natales - The vibe was great, the host was amazing and the rooms were comfortable
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tal (9/5): Superb -
- Romy (10/5): Familiar, cosy hostel & super nice host ever :) - The host Bill :) And the house and the whole atmosphere in general. It’s very familiar and cosy. Small hostel, neat & today, comfy beds, sweet little brekkie, well organised kitchen.
Bill was always up for a chat and helped us with all our questions about the region and its activities. He rents out hiking gear for a reasonable price.
The bus terminal is only a stone’s throw away (walking distance). Would definitely come back here. Highly recommended! Nothing we didn’t like in particular. Just bring ear plugs because the walls in Chilean house are not well soundproofed.
- Sofie (9/5): Owner Bill is amazing! - The friendly owner Bill! He is such a great guy, helped us with everything we needed and is always in for a chat. Would definately swing by for a cup of coffee if we are in the area. -
- Anand (10/5): Great hostel made for trekkers to the national parks, but also a nice base for Puerto Natales. - Quite straightforward and easy going approach for tourists using this as base to do trekking (can leave luggage at hostel whilst going into the national parks, breakfast laid out the night before for guests who have an early start etc). Hostel owner very knowledgable about the parks and the region, great source of information and advice.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect everything
- Barbara (10/5): The stay here was awesome.Bill was a great host and I really enjoyed all the stories he had about the history of Puerto - Close to the bus station
Very comfortable common area
- Joseph (10/5): Great atmosphere, great location, value for money. - The welcoming atmosphere at the hostel. Bill and Susan are inclusive of all guests who stay at the hostel. Bill’s knowledge is vast and advice is honest. Staying at the hostel was a memorable experience. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
- Prathamesh (8/5): Very good -
- K3ll7 (10/5): Exceptional - Warm, comfortable stay! Felt like home :)
- Jack (10/5): Perfect location, really comfortable and incredible host! - Erratic Rock was the highlight of our trip to Puerto Natales! My girlfriend and I stayed before and after a week’s hiking in Torres Del Paine.
The owner Bill is amazing! So welcoming, warm and full of brilliant tips and help for our trip.
The hostel is in a great location and really clean, warm and comfortable. Great kitchen to cook in too.
We liked it so much we booked in to stay after our hike.
A big highlight of our Patagonian trip and a big recommendation to stay!
