Guest Reviews
- Kellie (10/5): Amazing stay I was very impressed over all - Great location amazing venue Lighting was very dim and rooms were very bright
- Jan (7/5): - Location. Could not speak to anyone about arising issues. At one point the loo was not functioning. I called the number supplied to me ( to contact if I needed help onsite). No one answered and no capacity to leave messages at the number provided. My only alternative was to send an email. It was the week end and I had no idea if anyone was working. Luckily my husband ( by chance!) fixed the loo himself. We were also only given one key to the apt. We could not go out independently as you needed the key to get up to the 9th floor in the lift, and then to open the door. There was an intercom but that was no use if he was out with the key and I came home first. So, I requested a second key. This was dispatched immediately.
No table or benches in the bathroom apart from the hand basin so I had to put any clothes I took in with me on the floor.
Good kitchen. Great view. Bedroom, I had to move the one bedside table to the other side of the bed to get the cupboard open so I could put my clothes in.
- Catherine (7/5): - Great view! Nice to have a carpark included. The sliding doors make the main room look great, but you can barely walk around the bed, and there could be a lot more living space.
The quilt barely covered the bed with 2 people on it. With no top sheet, it let a lot of air in.
Bathroom - good shower pressure but too thin. What is the thing on the wall? If it's a heater, how does it work? If it's a towel rail, very little hanging space. No other hanging rails or hooks.
- Andrea (1/5): - Apartment was cold, noisy, no cloth hangers or wardrobe space. Heater didn't work. Overall, stay was awful, I changed accomodation after the first night as it was not acceptable.
- Graeme (10/5): Owner was very responsive - highly recommend - Fantastic views, great location and access to hotel lobby services.
- Luke (5/5): Better than 2* accommodation but less than 3 - Loved the view and the eco friendly design that meant we could ope the windows and have a lovely breeze. The bathroom was not clean, the walls in the shower were dirty and had some kind of brown/red stains on them from previous guests. There was paint peeling from above the bathroom door which kept falling off every time we opened the door. The bathroom curtain was also very dirty and had not been cleaned in a very long time. There was cigarette ash all over the balcony and on the air-conditioning unit.
- Lee (4/5): Not again - Location and view Rock hard pillows and smoke alarm light went in and off all night . Rang concierge and he was absolutely unhelpful , almost rude
- Gary (10/5): - Everything
- Matt (7/5): -
- Eve Sirinya (7/5): The place wasn’t exactly like the picture -
- Rachel (6/5): - Great location. The room was clean. The entrance and for area is beautiful work interesting designs. The bed was uncomfortable. The room felt quite stark with very little soft furnishings. We could hear people moving in the rooms around us.
- Carol (7/5): - Location & view was excellent Bedroom configuration with doorway making you have to climb over the bed for the second person.
Lacked cookware & furniture
- Gabrielle (8/5): - The apartment was in a terrific location being very close to the lake. If you want to visit the National art gallery, Parliament House etc they are all in walking distance. Also close to the city and great cafes and shopping. Plenty of space and good facilities in the apartment. Comfy beds too. Nothing
- Jane (5/5): It did the job. - Location and facilities at the hotel, bar, restaurant etc The property is very basic in its overall look and feel.
No cushions on the couch and it only fits three at a pinch, so could do with another small couch or lounge chairs to be able for all guests to be comfortable.
Plastic tablecloth not very classy
Minimal artwork on the walls
No tea towel or hand towel in kitchen so hard to wash up and put dishes away as instructed
Vanity sink needs attention as it doesn't drain properly.
Design with glass walls for a bathroom is interesting and to us, not an appealing design feature, especially as it is then covered with a fabric shower curtain. Another questionable design feature is the bathroom door opens outwards and blocks the entry to one of the bedrooms.
- XIAO ZHAO (9/5): vary good place to stay all good. -
- Tanya (3/5): Too loud - View was nice Really bad traffic noise
Very simply stocked
Very basic
- McDonald (8/5): -
- Sutinee (8/5): - The view area was great ,closer car park ,clean room It is like AirBnB, no staff to talk to about problems or answers our questions ,pick up key following massage communication in Chinese I don't understand ,we scared to open a link cause in Chinese language, thought it spam.
Fan in bathroom on do anything, sink in bathroom block water down slowly.
- Spidie (4/5): -
- Victoria (6/5): Good value for money for a short break - Parking spot available, good location, easy access to drive around Canberra. Very good value for money for a short break. Only received one key for a two couple stay.
Did not like the glass toilet/bathroom door even with the shower curtain.
Ceiling fan in bathroom, very dirty.
- Travis (9/5): -
- Madeleine (1/5): -
- Blair (9/5): Great location and great to be able to have a two bedroom in Canberra. - We love staying in that part of Canberra - close to everything we need, including ANU. The bathroom door is a challenge… Very heavy to open especially during the night. And could we request an iron and ironing board be added… We were going to a graduation and had to ask the hotel if they would lend us one.
- craig (8/5): -
- Vivian (10/5): Great location and ideal for a short stay. The instructions to enter the apartment were very clear, and the place was cl - Ubicati in and cleanest All was good only the bathroom door in glass
- Mitchell (10/5): - Architecture, layout, view, location, Couch, bedroom size
- Alper (10/5): -
- Jason (10/5): Fantastic place would definitely stay again - The bathroom needs a good clean around the corners shower screen an corner s of the shower were filthy
- Murray (7/5): - Location and view are amazing. Clear instructions to follow. Parking was excellent. For the premium price it was let down by the little things. No milk, not even long life milk for the supplied coffee. Also no top sheet only a doona. Threat bare towels are just not up to the standard we expected. All of these can be rectified with a bit of care and for minimal cost.
- andrew (7/5): - Traffic noise from adjacent motorway
- Lynette (3/5): Aggressive staff no privacy uneven floor glass door opening into bedroom room door. Dangerous - Average All rooms glass. Bedrooms bathroom no privacy. Glass door opens across bedroom door uneven floor bed floor higher the other floors. When arrived given wrong key in room 20mim got phone call telling us to leave amediently. The lady was ranting” you must leave amendment. Didn’t address me at all. Just ranted I must leave now meet cleaner in car park. After telling her I had just had a shower a would ten mins she continued to rant at me getting very agitated. I stated it was not our fault. I needed ten min to pack. She talked over me continually telling us to get out. They gave us wrong key but took no blame.
- sabino (7/5): - Cabinets are in need of repair and maintenance. Wall paint need to be refreshed. Lots of marks on walls.
Decor could do with a bit more care and style.
- Jennifer (9/5): Overall we would recommend Nishi. - The facilities and comfort of the room was excellent.
The view of the lake in particular was great.
We also enjoyed dining in the hotel dining room. Only one thing - the address on the booking.com confirmation was incorrect which meant we had difficulty finding Nishi.
We were sent an email and text but this was sent as we were trying to find the appartments and somewhere to park in the Wilson Car park.
It would have been very helpful if the email with the entry instructions was sent earlier in the day of our arrival.
- Ritu (7/5): -
- Tea' (8/5): - Towels are pretty poor condition.
- Andrea (5/5): Location is fantastic, very nice unit, bed was horrible, traffic noise was extremely loud - The bed was very hard
The unit is at the front of the building overlooking the lake
The traffic noise was very loud throughout the night
- David (8/5): -
- Kate (10/5): Convenient - Great location Easy to get to and layout was easy to use
- Leigh (8/5): -
- Lucy (8/5): Convenient, clean and very good value. - Its location was excellent, as was its value and easy of finding it and the parking
- Mick (8/5): Great spot and our view was awesome!! Whole apartment for the price of a motel room- excellent value - Great view, parking included Communication in limited English was very confusing.
We were accused of bringing a pet…????
- Mick (9/5): - Location and view
- DAN (7/5): -
- Nick (4/5): - No much The advertisement was extremely misleading
- Fiona (7/5): Adequate for a short stay in Canberra - Comfy A bit complicated security
- Therese (8/5): Relaxing and comfortable stay in a great central location. - Comfortable
Great views
Good airflow with sliding door and window door ajar.
Love the layout. Traffic noise when door open
- Fyfe (3/5): Would not go back, traffic noise off the charts didn't sleep at all - Good information on check in Traffic noise off the charts
Plastic coverings on furniture
Take your own rubbish out
Keys were locked up on a lock box in the garage
- Richard (3/5): -
- Wood (7/5): -
- XUEZHE (10/5): -
- Vicky (9/5): It’s was a nice stay - Close to everything
- RAJ KIRAN (6/5): Great location - Great convenient location and located in a good building. It a private apartment located in a Hotel building which can be tricky to understand. The staff in hotel wont provide any services for Private apartment rented out. Some appliance wasn't working which no one was there to fix or complain about. Phone number listed in property but noone answers the call. Only way to communicate is via Booking.com message.
- Byron (1/5): FRAUD - READ BEFORE YOU BOOK - The photos are NOT the apartments you get! - Good building. FRAUD - READ BEFORE YOU BOOK - Nishi Hotel Apartments are deceiving you with photos of a hotel and lux apartments, but the apartments you get are NOT the same!
Nishi Hotel Apartments have nothing to do with Ovolo Nishi Hotel beyond being in the same building. But they use their name, their photos, and their description (even the apartment names like "mountain view" are a copy of the hotel). It's designed to fool you, and I am not the only person to note this! They manage multiple apartments in the building, but only show you photos of the hotel apartments or their nice ones, not the ones they rent out.
The apartment I got was small, dark, dingy and hasn't been maintained. The water was BROWN and undrinkable! The furniture was shocking and cheap. The bed sheets were dirty. The kitchen appliances didn't work or were old. There's none of the hotel facilitie (gym, cleaning, etc). But they charge you their rates!
When I complained to them, "same building same apartments" was their response. Mate, a multi million dollar penthouse and dingy basement are in the same building, but aren't the same. I'm now proceeding with complaints to Bookings as a platform to have them removed.
- jeanette (4/5): Very disappointed. Cost a fortune, wasn’t the apartment that was advertised, it was in the adjoining complex. Would not - The view Was nothing like what was advertised.
Very noisy ( traffic) so couldn’t utilise the balcony where the best view was. Can’t access the bed on one side, literally had to crawl over the other person during the night. Lounge small and uncomfortable.
Floor dirty and spare pillows had stains/ mould marks
- Vicki (7/5): -
- Marty (1/5): Worst accommodation - stay in the hotel not apartments - Nishi apartment was cold and uninviting. The decor (if you could call it that) was minimal industrial. Furnishing was disgusting- no comforts were included, no effort on owner's part to ensure guests enjoyed their stay. When we first eyed the scaffolding on the roof of Nishi we realised that this accommodation would be "interesting". When we opened the door the apartment was freezing, sparsely furnished with no comforts. The cheap lounge was covered in stains (a dust cover attempted to conceal this fact.) It was the worst accommodation experience on our month long holiday. And the bed - don't let's go there!!!
- Mark (6/5): - View Bedroom arrangement was strange. Had to climb over the bed to access one side. Only one bedside table.
- Sally_L (6/5): Great location. - The view was good.
Free parking.
The location. Hot water at the end of the day wasn't so good.
The noise from the freeway was quiet noticeable. The bed had a noisy plastic mattress protector, every time you moved it made noise. Was unable to close the glass door of the bedroom.
- Gloria (9/5): Stunning views - Good location within a short walk to the shops and waterfront. Parking space is very narrow
- david (6/5): OK but the apartment was not as advertised - The location was good. Apartment spacious and its laundry facilities. The apartment was nothing like the pictures on Booking.com. Nishi apartments are individually owned so no guarantee of what you'll get. Our apartment was large and spacious but it was poorly designed and wasted space. The bed was in an area with insufficient room to get to. And it was very noisy from the main road below.
- adam (2/5): -
- James (3/5): Not what I expected - view not clean, basic - no furnishings and amenities.
- Sonya (10/5): -
- Angel (10/5): - It’s clean and it’s really close to all the places we want to visit.
- Matt (7/5): - Great location and lovely view over the lake.
Excellent restaurant in the foyer and great local coffee shop 2 mins away bare minimum of supplies - 1 toilet role for the week?
I arrived very late. No milk for beverages
Not very pleasant arriving late and having to retrieve the key from a lock box in the cold basement
Please consider using biodegradable bin liners. No need to use plastic bags.
- Julie (5/5): Bare, basic and sterile. - Great location and the room was large. The room was poorly appointed: furniture, furnishings and linen were basic and minimal.
Road noise was disturbing and continued all through the night. We ended up purchasing ear plugs se we could sleep. Family members with a room that looked over the Telstra Tower and Black Mountain did not have any issues with road noise.
- Jane (5/5): Acceptable, but not luxurious - I liked the location, the apartment was clean The bed wasn't particularly comfy and the bedroom area was extremely awkward, I had to climb over the bed to access my side and there was no bedside table.
The bathroom door and shower door were awkward. The lounge area is large but has only a two seat sofa and tiny coffee table and then a huge TV with no soft furnishings like a rug or cushions for comfort. There was a small two person dining table. It was as if there was very limited investment in the apartment, bare minimum furniture, and for the price tag I thought that was less than satisfactory. The apartment looks quite different from the shots on Booking.com
- james (6/5): - Location great Better couch, table a rug. Very cold apartment.
- Naomi (2/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): Really lovely - I liked the detailed message from the host on how to collect the keys. The location was very central and the view was really lovely from the room. The restaurant downstairs was abit chaotic in the way it was setup/run. No table service, you arent greeted by anyone. You just sit where ever you want and order food at the drinks bar. Very limited food options.
- Grant (8/5): -
- Melinda (6/5): We enjoyed our stay there were just a few finishing touches lacking - I like that the apartment was central and that there was a car space.
It was good to have the hotel facilities and a movie theatre and lovely restaurants near by. The view of the lake was on booking.com I had view of the road. Best not to build expectations. I was disappointed.
The apartment was very hot even after I turned off heating.
There was only 1 bowl and 2 teaspoons. It is good to have a complete set for 4people. It would be good to have mirrors in the bedrooms.
- Ronald (8/5): -
- Lilias (10/5): Exceptional - The space. Funky design. Very clean.
- Carolyn (9/5): Ultra modern with fabulous views to Parliament House. Would recommend - Fabulous views, spotless. Traffic noise, lack of blankets.
- Enslow (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aquilina (9/5): Superb - Pet friendly, excellent view and spacious N/a
- Dominic (9/5): Superb - Amenities and location. Bar and restaurant in building Late check in time oo
- Emma (7/5): Good -
- Abi (6/5): Convienient - Located above the ovolo with parking which is huge in Canberra. Stains on the sofa, not enough furniture so felt very barren. Weird prison cell layout of the building
- Marrie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Drew (9/5): Great base to enjoy Canberra - Great size apartment for a family if 3. Would stay again
- Neil (7/5): Good - climbing over the bed
- Andrew (5/5): Passable -
- Best (5/5): Fantastic location for me and the establishment was great with coffee/bar/food just a lift away - the bedroom had curtains for blocking out light from a window onto the internal balcony. Light from the balcony was on all night, the curtains where not fully attached to properly block out the light and this disturbed sleeping.
Also the Carbon Monoxide alarm in the hall area of the apartment, intermitedly flashed a green light when all the lights in the apartment were off. This flashing was visible from the bedroom and again was not conclusive to getting to sleep.
- Lydie (6/5): OK - Location was great and pet friendly. Very strange "aquarium" feels in this apartment. Glass walls in bedrooms and shower/toilet so curtains everywhere. A bit noisy. The sliding door of one of the bedroom was really hard to slide. The bed was hard but the pillows were comfy.
- Giovanni (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (5/5): Passable -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (5/5): Passable -
- Lorelie (8/5): Very good -
- Miles (7/5): Good -
- Susie (9/5): Well appointed apartment in great location - Very comfortable apartment with all the essential comforts at a great location. Very timely and clear communication with staff.
- Nathan (7/5): Good -
- Theo (8/5): Nice stay - I liked the big leaving room, the kitchen and the balcony. A bit of a mess to go to the parking. And it would be good if the height of the parking was written in the description.
- Vadim (2/5): This was the worst accommodation I ever had. - I did not like three things
1) there is no use of this property as the toilet cannot be flushed down. There was simply NO water flow into the toilet cistern. It just impossible to live in a flat with a toilet not having running water;
2) Several times I attempted to contact the owner by phone and email to report the 'toilet problem', however, I got NO response and had to live with the shit accumulating;
3) collecting and returning the key to this property is VERY complicated, especially if you travel with heavy luggage. You need to go to the parking lot in the basement and find a parking spot for the property, locate the security box with the key, and then return to the entrance.
- Tom (10/5): Fantastic stay in the best location with an amazing view - LocaTION AND vIEW SOME BASIC SUPPLIES WOULD BE GOOD, MILK,SUGAR,TEA,COFFEE
- Isabel (6/5): Pleasant - Proximity to central areas free parking value for money. Strange setup in bedrooms and living room, limited tea and coffee no milk for drinks no outdoor furniture limited seating.
- Ashton (8/5): Delightful convenience - Location was excellent with many nice eateries within walking distance. The traffic noise was very loud, sounding almost like planes rushing past, but you get used to it quickly.
It is still a great place to stay.
- Calder (8/5): Very good - Spectacular view and great location Traffic noise was a little loud for someone not used to it, but nothing a pair of earplugs couldn't fix
