Guest Reviews
- Corrie (10/5): - Loved the house perfect for hosting has all you need, beautiful hottub and views Nothing
- Smith (8/5): Lovely stay but it lacks the kitchen basics! - Lovely clean property with stunning view. Hot tub was a favourite with everyone. We have never stayed in a property with no basics like salt, pepper, cooking oil etc. There were 6 teabags for a party of 8 people staying for 3 nights. There wasnt enough toilet paper, we had to buy some more! Simple basics should be more readily available! More baking trays for the oven would also be useful.
- Elaine Marie (10/5): - Spacious property. Very modern and bright. Very clean. Great facilities for adults. Great facilities for young children. High chairs and travel cots provided. Excellent hot tub. Couldn't find any faults.
- Sarah-Anne (10/5): Fabulous stay would highly recommend!! - Perfect for family gathering at Christmas time - hot tub was a favourite!! Comfortable and homely. Christmas tree could’ve been a little better/bigger as we had kids with us and presents were left under tree for Christmas. Mattresses weren’t very comfortable but wouldn’t put us off staying again.
- alycia (10/5): - Loved everything about this place fantastic family retreat
- jacqueline (8/5): - The lay out of the house. The 4 toilets great. Each couple had own toilet.
- James (9/5): The Shieling. - The hot tub was idyllic.
The bed linen was very comfortable.
The supply of logs was appreciated.
Well equipped kitchen. Nada
- Jill (10/5): Lovely stay in clean well appointed home -
- Bonnie (9/5): The Shieling was a wonderful house for our stay in The Highlands. - The house was very comfortable and spacious for our large family group. It was especially helpful to have two separate "wings" of bedrooms to help control noise issues with the very young children in our group.
The kitchen was great as was the large refrigerator. Our family bought groceries and cooked many meals at the house. An especially nice feature was the sunroom which looked out into the neighboring garden and was a cheerful and quiet separate space.
The hot tub was also a nice feature that was used by several family members.
- Steven (9/5): Excellent facilities, excellent golf courses, excellent week, thank you very much - Comfortable spacious all in one level excellent hot tub facilities especially after a round of golf all the boys enjoyed . Good parking facilities .kitchen facilities exelent washing and drying facilities Would have been nice to-have had a couple of sun loungers (frying pans would be better non stick )
- Jack (9/5): Superb - The property was pristine when we arrived, had a well equipped kitchen, hot tub was used for hours every day, sky sports on the tv and beds super comfortable. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks guys
- Emily (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Sheiling. - Views are phenomenal, house was beautifully clean and well looked after! The first two nights a neighbours dog barked and barked for hours!
- Tracy (1/5): Wish we hadn’t booked at all - It was very clean. Very unpleasant experience…
The hot tub was broken and took 52 hours to heat up. The staff were unable to operate it. We used it once with the lid flapping in the wind.
Hot tub lid did not have adequate support and wobbled alarmingly in the wind.
We noted no evidence of the tub being cleaned for the next guests arriving the day we left. Which left us wondering if it was cleaned for our arrival.
There is no screening for using the hot tub. So you get passing heavy traffic such on the main road honking at you in your swimwear. It’s too exposed.
Staff argued when we were unhappy with a broken hot tub. On leaving day they sent their managers to barge in to the property even before we left.
The kitchen had no basic supplies so you have to bring or buy everything. From salt and pepper to bin bags. Not even a tea bag.
The dining area blocks kitchen access so you have to ask people to get up all the time as you enter and exit the kitchen.
The owners really push the hot tub as something special. Then all the literature in the house says it’s a complimentary extra. And basically issue a disclaimer that if it doesn’t work that’s your tough luck.
Little things like no kitchen basics. Not even a tea bag. I’d rather have a pint of milk and some bin bags than a cheap and mastery bottle of wine. I’ve never rented such a poorly provisioned kitchen. You really need to bring everything.
I’ve never come across such an unpleasant stay in 20 years of using Booking.com and such unpleasant owners. They wouldn’t even admit they are the owners. Told me to look it up…
Booking.com customer experience is not on the side of the customer in my experience
- Gemma (10/5): Amazing time with the family - Fantastic property, would definitely stay here again
- Amy (8/5): Very good -
- Lyndsay (9/5): A lovely little place, would definitely stay again. - Great location, brilliant log fire and hot tub.
Complimentary robes and towels as well as bottles of wine on arrival. Washing machine and tumble drier were a bonus with plenty of towels for washing/ using hot tub. Used toothbrush and tissues found tucked down beside the mattress and bed frame in one of the double rooms. Bed and floor boards outside double room/bathroom at the back were extremely creaky and woke up every time we turned or someone stood by the door/toilet - would be okay if you are a deep sleeper.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were so helpful and accommodating, the location far exceeded my expectations, we all had such a wonderful time and the facilities were amazing. We absolutely loved everything!
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- William (10/5): Our stay at the Sheiling was perfect in every way, clean, comfortable, and spacious. - The space in the property is a big bonus, large dining table gets all together over food and drink. The property is a great find for us and we will use it again in the future. Nothing
- Anita (8/5): We had a great weekend - Very spacious, a great location for a large family with ample seating and table space.
Hot tub was great, large enough for everyone A couple of the beds were a bit shaky & some basic maintenance needed.
No soap at all in bathrooms - I would say that’s essential in Post Covid times.
- Kenneth (8/5): Good for a bunch of guys, but I would not bring my family or grandchildren here. - Hot tub was well kept. No soap or toiletries at all. Only two dishwasher tablets. Property was tired and in need to some TLC.
- Fraser (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynsie (8/5): Great value for money property in an excellent location to enjoy Aviemore. - Property could be doing with some updating.
- Sheila (7/5): Warm and cosy house but old fashioned and stingy on the extras that make a stay excellent! - Good location for us It felt like the furniture in the conservatory and dining area didn’t really fit, hard to get everyone round. There was a lack of the usual basics, salt and pepper, dish washing tablets etc
- Jacqui (9/5): Perfect family break - Great big clean accommodation to suit our family of 12. Perfect location.
- Caroline (9/5): Easter Family Holiday - Very clean and comfortable. Large cottage was ideal for our Easter holiday gathering. Plenty room to chill and relax . Short walk into Aviemore, nice shops, restaurants and cafes. Would highly recommend a stay.
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Wonderful, spacious accommodation in a lovely area for a family holiday. - Loved the hot tub! Quality of everything was was superb. Not enough cutlery, needed to wash them after every meal.
Not really a complaint, but whisky glasses would have been helpful.
Instructions for the heating could have come in handy as we were very warm. We just turned half off.
- Amanda (10/5): House dome to very high spec beds so comfy house amd views were stunning - Everything was absolutely perfect highly recommend
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - Good location for a range of activities in and around Aviemore. Great house for a large family gathering. We loved the hot tub especially in the snow! Some small house keeping issues but did not detract from our experience. Would still recommend.
- Kiel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (10/5): Lovely house. - The house was spacious and well laid out. It was clean and tidy. There was a high chair and travel cot we were able to use. The hot tub was very relaxing, just what is needed after looking after 18 month old. Lovely quiet area.
- Graeme (10/5): Ideal location and great comfort - Generally excellent. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Access easy and location private although handy for access to the village. We would stay here again. The hot tub was very popular and was regularly maintained. Kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms had clean linen with comfortable beds. Bathrooms clean and modern with fresh towels etc Nothing !
