Guest Reviews
- Stefania (8/5): - L'appartamento è perfetto, completo di tutto e spazioso. Location vicino al centro. Ottima l'ospitalità. Come consiglio suggerisco di prevedere un tavolino per pranzare. Nulla, tutto perfetto.
- null (8/5): Great location, but comfort not quite up to the looks - Good location, within walking distance of all major attractions in York. On a street that's busy at night, but had expected this. Beautifully decorated. Lovely big, well-appointed bathroom with good size walk in shower and a free-standing bath. Plenty of towels. Nice fitted kitchen. Netflix on one of the TVs. Use of outdoor space. Looked great, but lacked a little in comfort. Memory foam mattress was way too soft for my liking, so didn't sleep very well at all. Two bean bag chairs in the snug had looked as though they would be comfortable for watching movies and listening to music, but in reality seemed to be lacking in beans, so didn't provide any back or head support to lounge back so that you ended up sitting 'on' them, rather than 'in' them. In reality I found the snug uncomfortable so didn't use it as I'd expected instead using the small sofa and TV in the front room - with my feet up on the armchair as there was no footstool. Although there was outdoor space it wasn't private.
The kitchen was lovely, but weirdly for a place for no more than two people to stay it only had 2 huge saucepans and a big frying pan which would have been great to cater for a whole family, but were just awkward for one person.
- Gareth (10/5): -
- ASHLEY (10/5): - Outstanding unique property
- Lesley (9/5): Beautiful apartment in a fabulous location made our stay in York fabulous! - The quirky apartment, beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed and outdoor area. Toilet wasn't private. Small rental car didn't fit in garage.
- Kerry (8/5): All in all a great stay. Great location - Brilliant location and great that it includes garage parking. The snug was lovely and cool - great when it has been so hot 🥵 There was a couple of small tears in the bed sheet. One of the bath towels was stained. We could only get two channels on the tv in the lounge. The front door lock got stuck a few times so was a bit tricky to open (fire exit). A lot of noise outside from cars/passers-by at night.
- Yu (3/5): Place was “ok”.could be better would not have rented if it wasnt for included parking. In hindsight would have just spe - Clean nice updated appliances. Great tub. Overall location to center was great Youth Hostel across the street! Very rowdy young kids walking by till early morning. Not a quiet summer place! Tons of stairs. If you have injuries or difficulties with stairs not the place for you. No real television. Only streaming. Parking is down the street. And hard to find. Managements needs to start providing a map of where the parking is in relation to the property. Really horrible experience driving around finding it after 20 hours of traveling!! Need better black out curtains for bedroom. Especially in summer when sun comes up at 4 am! Also look into installing double pain windows at least for the bedroom. Will help with sound! Also the bathroom is not closed off. The upstairs bathroom(the only bathroom) is wide open to the entire place. If you have guests over you will need to coordinate bathroom use.
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (8/5): 👍👍 - Location was excellent Just a little noisy of a night
- Tovie (10/5): great place for exploring York. - the property is a great location for exploring York. We were within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions. It was clean and provided everything we needed. Be aware that the garage is quite a distance down the street and was somewhat difficult to find. The space was very tight for our suv but we did manage to carefully maneuver the car into the tight space.
- Emma (9/5): Great place to stay - Fantastic property in central York-beautifully appointed, great location with lots of bars cafes and restaurants and parking! Nothing
- Sandra (9/5): Fabulous - Location Noise from road
- Amanda (10/5): Everything that is needed for a weekend break. - We liked everything about the property including presentation, design, location & garage. Street noise but expected.
- Danny (10/5): Amazing we loved York and the bookclub - Very quirky place
Perfect location to explore
We have already rebooked for next year The only downside would be the loo but not a great deal if you have married a long time 😂
Not good for a new couple 😂
- Paul (10/5): A quiet oasis in a beautiful city. - Great location, everything is within walking distance. Despite being on a fairly busy street the house was quiet.
Spotlessly clean, well furnished and comfortable.
We appreciated the little touches: milk, fresh bread, wine and bath salts. Nothing.
- Heather (9/5): Fabulous, would definitely stay here again - Perfect central location to everything. Little touches such as the welcome book with recommendations. The facilities were exceptional and the bed was super comfy. The history of the property told in the house. Such an amazing quirky property. Throughly enjoyed our stay here. With it being in the centre it was quite noisy at night at the weekend.
- Sarah (10/5): Excellent location, awesome place to stay! - Great location, super quirky design (they have literally thought of everything!)
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, really well furnished, modern and clean. Some of the other reviews mention the size of the garage. We have a Porche Macan which is a medium sized SUV and this just about fit.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynne (9/5): First time in York lt is a lovely place to visit plenty to do and see - Excellent location, easy access to city centre, close to restaurants, bars and attractions Modern and homely had all you needed for your stay, also had the benefit of a garage The Road traffic is very noisy in early mornings and the seagulls are extremely noisy but out of anyone’s control
- Sophie (7/5): Good -
- Ian (10/5): Stunning stay! - Location is superb.
Property is fun and quirky. Fantastically designed throughout. Single glazed sash windows made it quite noisy. Seagulls squawking at 4.30am! Buses passing by shook the window.
- Debbie (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our week stay in a great city with lots to do and see. Would visit again - The property was very quirky, very clean and in great location. Bed was very comfy, lovely double shower and bath and nice outside space. Very well equipped and lovely extra touches such as welcome pack etc. Handy to have allocated parking in nearby garage although it was a very tight space even for our small car. Although bathroom was beautiful did not like no privacy when using toilet. The property was quite noisy early in morning with rubbish/bottles being collected from nearby businesses. Tv did not have normal terrestrial channels which was disappointing for Euros football etc.
- Thompson (10/5): Can't wait to return! - The house was absolutely stunning! The interior design, and facilities were great! Secure parking in a garage 2 minutes walk was a real bonus for Central York too! The location was perfect, with nice bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Less than 5 minutes to the centre of York. We will definitely be returning! 😁 We couldn't stay for longer! 😫
- Hazel (9/5): Great accommodation for a chill adult break. - The property was fantastic and someone has obviously put a lot of love into the place. The snug is fantastic for chiling. Instructions said bins out back. Couldn’t find any. So apologies.
- Phil (10/5): Awesome - Snug, instant camera, location Lack of privacy in bathroom / toilet
- Diane (9/5): Characterful and comfortable property within easy walking distance of the city centre. - This property is in a great location within easy walking distance of the city centre; it is characterful, well equipped, comfortable and warm (it was very cold in York when we visited!). Locally there is a great variety of bars, restaurants and cafes. Access to free parking is a real plus. The host was immediately responsive to a problem we had (not their fault). Plenty of information about the property and about York was provided. We enjoyed a couple of evenings in the snug listening to the records and there were plenty books to read as well!
- Yates (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (8/5): Good, location great, some niggles - Location and comfortable contemporary accommodation Garage very tight and difficult to open. Anything other than a small saloon would not fit.
No terrestial TV
- Louise (9/5): Very enjoyable and interesting - It was quirky, very clean, comfortable and very well thought out No blind up at the kitchen window not much privacy at the rear
No tv aerial so there wasn’t much to watch on tv upstairs
Garage was a-bit easy to miss there wasn’t clear instructions and lastly it wasn’t easy to find the book club after we’d parked
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional - Location very nice house
- Sharon (10/5): The property was amazing, location was excellent and we would definitely return - The keys were left in a drop box with clear instructions on how to get them. We loved the property and its amazing features. The location was excellent.
Chris who works for yorkstays was excellent in communicating with us when we needed to contact him and helped us in every way he possibly could, thank you Chris.
We will definitely return to the book club. The snug is amazing, the bed is comfy, the facilities at the property are second to none and the parking is a great bonus. nothing everything was excellent.
- Laura (10/5): Great proximity, warm and comfortable, unique and we only wish we were there longer. - We really enjoyed the house and the proximity to York centre. It felt like a home away from home. Being off the street at times there was noise when bottles were collected for recycling but this was minimal. Also the instructions to the parking were difficult to find but one call to the booking agency and further instructions got us there.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Very chilled, lovely stay! - The property was extremely clean, loved the decor. Fantastic location! I felt it was a little expensive but we loved the stay regardless
- Jennie (8/5): Nice few days away in a spell of unexpected good weather. - Convenient location. Walk into City and good restaurants on the street. Parking space is handy. Modern and very clean accommodation with plenty of space indoors and outdoors. Everything you need in the kitchen. Outside seating area is lovely. The toilet! We thought we could manage the situation but it really wasn’t nice having a toilet in the bedroom. Having a central location comes with noise disturbances. Again we realised it would be a busy street, bus route etc but the front of the house was very noisy. The windows/door don’t like block sound very well. Must be a popular route home for students after a night out. All three nights were very noisy with shouting apart from 5am to 7am. Take earplugs if you want a good chance of sleep. Shame because the bed is very comfy. The garage space is good but it is a bit of a walk if you have a lot of bags. Expect a few journeys up and down the street. Worth it for the parking though.
- Jenna (9/5): Superb - The house is beautiful! Finished to an extremely high standard and the location is fantastic. We only stayed 2 nights and ate at restaurants most of the time so we didn't really use the kitchen but it had everything you could possibly need. The Instax camera in the snug was a lovely touch as well. Would definitely stay again and for longer next time! No door between bedroom and bathroom which means no privacy when using the toilet - this did cause some inconvenience. There was a lipstick stain on one of the glasses in the kitchen cupboard, and a small stain on the outside of the duvet cover. Other than that everything was spotless.
- Valerie (10/5): Fantastic property, excellent location, will definitely be back -
- William (10/5): well organised no problems, fantastic location, house was awesome, we will stay again - location was the massive plus for us really ,not having to walk far for the center of town was great just a couple of daft things first one might have been our lack of tech, we couldn,t get bbc 1 to watch the world cup on the tv.
I,d also like a inner lock bolt on the front door when i go to bed ,but this might be just me.
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joao (9/5): Great place, a home away from home - Central location, felt like home, a lot of different areas in the property (two living rooms, outside area), decoration, loved the little touch with the fresh bread, milk and sparkling wine. Nothing that affected our stay too much or that redacted from the excellent stay but I'd just mention the following:
- checkout is a bit early (10:00). When asked if I could leave the car in the parking and come later, the response was negative, no reason was given. Bearing in mind that any new guests would only check in after 16:00 and I would have collected the car before that, I found this not very accommodating.
- complimentary bath salts were not present, looked everywhere.
- Harry (9/5): Superb, would love to return. - Quirky, great outdoor space and close to everything.
- Greathead (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent, loved it. Beautifully renovated. Great location. Parking a real bonus.
Clean and really comfortable
Highly recommend The loo!
- Lewis (10/5): great place would 100% recomend - House was amazing, super comfy bed and clean property. appreciated the little touches fresh bread, welcome drink, bath salt and all.
great facilities tv with Netflix, record player, games console, coffee machine.
parking in a garage about 1 min walk can easily drop
the bags off out front.
walking distance from town loads of coffee shops and bars around the area to. lack of privacy for the toilet.
