Guest Reviews
- Tracy (10/5): excellent value for money accommodation - close proximity to town the stairs
- Andrew (9/5): Great access for York - The house was very good, and the location was very good for access into the city centre. Parking was a bit of a problem as the street was very narrow with lots of parked vehicles.
- Hannah (9/5): - Perfectly clean, only a 10/15 minute walk into the centre. Nice and quiet, no issues.
- Lisa (10/5): Fantabulous - The house had everything I could have needed whilst away
Very comfortable, clean and tidy
The slight issue with the heating was sorted within 5 minutes of me writing a message so Grant is v a ry responsive if there's an issue
Easy walk into the city and close to a bus route into the city if you need it
Lovely welcome pack including recommendations for restaurants, takeaway menus etc
If you need it washer/dryer, dishwasher alongside the usual kettle, microwave and toaster
Fully secure garden if like me you have a pet
Cleaning products and cloths so you can clean as you on Nothing
Having to say how good it is because it could impact on availability when I want to go again. I definitely plan on using it again

- Angela (10/5): I would recommend this propertry - Great location, attached is a view from the second floor of the property, very charming. parking was on the street right in front of the townhouse. York is an exciting city with a great old town.
- Jing (8/5): Very good - Very clean, good location. No shower gel and shampoo in bathroom.
Bathroom is newly renovated and has kind of smell from the material.
Stairs are challenging as everyone mentioned.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Great place. Near to York centre around 10 minutes walk. Clean and everything we needed. Don't hesitate. Book to stay here if you need a central place that's value for money and comfortable

- Jason (9/5): Perfect for a short stay close to York centre. - Perfect location and easy free parking outside. The house was very well presented and clean. It was an easy walk into York so didn’t need to take a bus. The stairs are very steep which was a little difficult for the eldest member of our group.
- Graeme (10/5): Perfect for a short walk in to York Centre, great for a dog. - Great accommodation and location, ideal for walking in to the Shambles etc, loads within walking distance. For us everything is was great for us.
- Carl (8/5): Very good -
- Philip (9/5): Good value for money. - Clean tidy 2 up 2 down property. Everything you could need for a short stay.
Close to town, within walking distance. Free on street parking. Stairs are a little steep.
Parking can be a bit tight.
- Kerry (8/5): Lovely little house - 2nd time we have stayed here . Nice to have complete home with all the equipment. Really good location we could walk into the city and no problem to park. Would definitely come back for a 3rd visit. Stairs are very steep. No shower gel. Owner says bathroom is to be re fitted. All other rooms are lovely
- Alastair (9/5): Superb -
- Eleanor (8/5): Nice clean house in a good location and with free parking. -
- Andras (9/5): Superb - The size and the location was great. .Host was nice and informative. Beds are a bit narrow.
- Sharon (8/5): Perfect short break in a beautiful city - Dog friendly
Great location
Good value for money
Lovely property Nothing
- Catriona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (7/5): Great location - The location is excellent, just a short walk from the city walls and street parking was easy. WiFi worked well and the kitchen was a good size with all we needed. The pretty garden was a bonus. The listing on Booking said there were 3 beds but when we arrived, there were only 2. My son had to sleep on the floor. I messaged the host immediately who said the error was Booking's fault and he had been trying to get it corrected for some time. We obviously wouldn't have booked it if the listing had been accurate. The host responded quickly to my messages and was full of apologies, but Booking hasn't answered my message to them, and our short break was spoiled by their error. I understand the error has now been corrected so at least other travellers won't have the same issue as us.
- Paige (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jill (8/5): Very convenient for town, disappointing 2nd bedroom - Quiet area close to the center of town, well equipped , clean Very steep stairs and uneven floors, smaller bedroom no storage, small bed, only access the bed from one side
- Angela (10/5): Fantastic - Excellent property lovely location
- Amanda (8/5): Very good - It was everything we needed for our stay and what we required easy check-in , good location, fab parking, excellent value for money clean and tidy. All though it was clean and tidy we did feel that the property could do with a little TLC .
- David (9/5): Cosy cottage close to city centre. - Cosy little cottage in a quiet area within walking distance of York city centre. Extra bonus of free on street parking. The courtyard garden was a big plus for breakfast in the sun and BBQs in the evening.
Good selection of pubs, takeaways and supermarkets close by. Stairs to bedrooms were very steep. This was OK for us but I wouldn't think it suitable for elderly or less able people.
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (9/5): Nice, convenient place to stay with easy access to York. - Location is excellent, 20 min walk into the centre. Lovely woodland area just around the corner from the house, nice for strolling with the dog. As has been said, the stairs are pretty steep, so not easy if you have mobility issues. Owner was very responsive to messages. Loved the courtyard garden, easy to leave the back door open for the dog to wander in and out. Very comfortable beds, front bedroom a little small for two, but the larger one in the back is extremely comfortable! Good, free Wi-Fi, and smart tv. Nothing too bad really, could do with a couple more tea towels maybe?
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (9/5): Fabulous and great location 😁😁 - Lovely little place, comfy beds, lovely outside space Stairs were a bit steep
- Saphyna (10/5): Amazing! Would definitely recommend - Great house, gives off cottage vibes. Good location, about £5 in an uber to the town centre. Super comfy beds, great amenities. Stairs are a little narrow and steep so something to consider if you have mobility/accessibility concerns. Tall ceilings, so some cobwebs.
- Rudi (7/5): Good - The kitchen and the lounge were relaxing. The staircase is very steep.
Inside of the house had a terrible smell. We needed to open the windows to reduce the bad smell.
- Fearn (7/5): Good - Property was great! Well set up, super location, thanks Smaller bedroom is a real struggle for 2 people
- David (8/5): We will have to come again for longer as there was so much to see and do . - Location was perfect for quiet and town centre . The close nature reserve was great too . The pebbled garden was difficult underfoot and pebbles stuck in shoes which had to be picked out at the door .
- Michael (9/5): Very convenient location -
- Haley (9/5): Great location, great house. - Really good location and the property was clean, tidy and just what you need. The stairs are very steep so you'd need to be careful. Also the beds (although comfy) either had a footboard or was against the wall which was fine for us short ones, but the 6ft 4 visitor struggled.
- Faye (9/5): Nice accommodation with good price and would book again - Fully equipped kitchen. Good location. Smart TV. Parking right outside the property on the street. Good heating. Steep stairs, squeaky floor but not too much of the trouble to us
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Iain (9/5): Superb -
- Joanne (9/5): A lovely little place in a great location. - The property is in an excellent location for York city centre, with shop a M&S at the service station at the end of the road and two pubs and various cafes and hot food takeaway within a couple of minutes walk. There is a nature reserve at the end of the street to the left and bus stops at the end of the street ahead. We walked to the city but the bus is a short hop and only £1.20 each way if after a long day you are tired.
The house is a cute small terrraced property (as expected) in a quiet area and you can park outside albeit the street is small, don't expect to arrive in multiple vehicles as that would just be disrespectful to the residents.
Our host kindly let us know the property would be ready early so when we arrived to park up and explore the surrounding area we were able to unload which was appreciated and not expected. A few cobwebs to be seen but at this time of year the spiders are busy so you can't always be sure you have caught every one of them, especially in an older property.
The garden area is ok but could be improved with more flagstones so sitting at the table is less precarious than sinking into the stones, the walls could be painted and the lights are a nice touch but maybe a little more and the outside area would be even more inviting for the summer evenings ahead.
Storage was sparse in the second bedroom and with only one small wooden wardrobe don't pack too much or it will have to stay in the suitcase.
Minor points that wouldn't affect us staying there again but can perhaps be taken onboard to make our next stay even better.
- Nicola (9/5): Superb - Great central location. Lovely cottage. Needs a good deep clean 😊
- Nikki (10/5): We had a lovely time. - The accommodation was beautiful. Very comfortable. Not too far from the centre of York.
Host very good. Great communication. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend.
- Isobel (10/5): Great little house - The house was very clean and tidy and great value for our length of stay (3 nights). Great access to the bus route for heading into the city centre.
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - It was convenient to walk into the city and had everything we needed. It could do with a bit of tlc, the bed was very creaky as were many of the floor boards
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location of this property. An easy walk into the centre of York. The property was warm and welcoming, it had everything we needed. Nothing
- Claire (10/5): The property was in a perfect location for our weekend visit to University of York and very clean. -
- Nicky (8/5): Very good - Easy walking access to local facilities and town centre Stairs were a bit steep
- Jay (8/5): Great - would use again - Loved the location, ease of parking, small yard for dog to nip in and out, furnishings great, kitchen well eqipped, beds really comfy (loved quilts), nearby park for dog walking, location felt safe Could do with hidden corners given quick wipe / vac eg near loo, behind doors, under beds
- Rosanna (10/5): Lovely stay in York would defo stay here again - Comfy beds, big kitchen really cosy house!
- Jadwiga (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place. Nice and clean little house. Perfect location not too far from a medieval town. Great place for a city break. Very steep stairs and quite low shower head not perfect for tall people.
- Janet (7/5): Good for my 1 night stay - Cosy & compact, lots of parking spaces, walkable to city town Lack of toiletries eg body wash, creaky floorboards
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): Very good overall. Great location & very good value for money. - Clean, cosy, comfortable, very well-equipped. V steep stairs
- Matt (8/5): Cosy and comfortable within easy commuting / walking distance of most locations with friendly host. - Location was excellent for the purpose of our visit. House was warm and comfortable during cold spell of weather. Smart TV allowed access to guest's own private Netflix account etc. Good kitchen and dining facilities. Host was also very helpful when we required some assistance. Lounge is smaller than the photograph implies, however is very cosy for 3 to 4 people. Wouldn't say these were dislikes. However, will only mention for the purpose of potential improvement (these really are small, unimportant reflections). Access arrangements could perhaps be improved by providing details at least 24hrs ahead of arrival to allow guests to plan ahead. Some internal doors felt rather flimsy and rubbed across the floor and did not close fully which didn't provide the best first impression. House accommodates approx. 4 people but there seemed to be excess mugs, glasses etc which restricts storage space for food supplies / groceries. The latter can of course be worked around with a small amount of repositioning.
- Patrickson (8/5): Very good -
- Neil (10/5): fully enjoyed it would book again - n a no tea towel in kitchen parking was a bit random
- Kerry (10/5): Delightful small house - Lovely 2 bedroom house. Very well presented , modern and decorated with taste. Great location between the university( visiting my daughter) and the City centre. Would definately stay again. It wasn't a problem for us but stairs are very steep if you have mobility issues otherwise everything is perfect
- Tania (7/5): We would look to use this propert again as they were just little things - The property was just the size and location we needed for our overnight stay it was brilliant we could get in early drop our things and head out. There were little things ie I trod on a lump on the lounge mat to discover an old sock and then see rubbish under sofa. Some areas in need of painting
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Jacky (10/5): A perfect little house in an excellent situation for York. - It was perfect. Clean, comfortable and very well equipped with everything we needed. Lovely little courtyard garden. We are fussy shower users and can report that the shower is excellent! Struggling to find anything. There was an alarming wobble on the kitchen floor in one place No problem once you got used to it! Steep stairs could be problematic for less mobile folk.
- Paul (8/5): Very good - A lovely property located in a quiet location that is only a few minutes walk from the city wall - we'll likely be back!
- Paul (8/5): Excellent location for the city centre and university. Well equipped and comfortable. - Not applicable
- Stephen (9/5): Pleasant stay in a practical house in York - practical, pleasant decor, quite good location, dog, friendly. very steep stairs. One broken, and one glowworm lightbulb.
- David (9/5): Visit toYork - Excellent house very clean and everything provided to make our stay very comfortable. Great location with easy reach of central york. Parking outside too.
Would stay here again on next visit to york. Nothing all good
- Laura (9/5): Superb - Lovely little house in a great location, just a short walk into York centre and city walls. Also very pleased I read the folder to find out we were only 5min walk from a nature reserve which made for a lovely walk in the evenings. House is only small but has everything needed.
- Belinda (4/5): Really wanted to love this place, but sadly would not stay again. - The location is really good. The parking was very convenient. Nice kitchen and living area. The water pressure for the shower was great. The steepness of the stairs was impossible, we were unable to get out luggage up the stairs and had to take what we needed to in bits. Nothing in the listing mentioned how steep they were. The kitchen light and top of stair light did not work.
There were lots of cobwebs and spiders in almost every room.
The smaller bedroom has nowhere to place any belongings, so everything needed to be on the floor.
- Pascale (8/5): Very good - Beds are very comfortable and the place is quiet Nothing
- Gary (10/5): Great little property - really friendly owners - who were really helpful - when revisiting York will defo book this prop - Tidy - clean - full facilities
Everything u need available …. I need to have taken anything Cig butts on wall -
- Leah (10/5): Very happy - Helpful host helped with any enquiries we had.
Beautiful home in a quiet location The stairs were very steep.
- Kelly (10/5): Simply perfect all around - thank you so much! - Beautiful property - so clean and the bed extremely comfortable! Great location and on street parking easily available outside the front door. Super communication from owner and an early check in time given which was a lovely bonus! No negatives…just such a shame we only booked for 1 night - would have loved to stay longer! Will def revisit when in York next time!
- Alison (9/5): I had a lovely, relaxing stay & would’ve stayed longer if it had been available. - Great location and lovely place to stay. It had everything I needed and would recommend. I’ll look forward to staying there again. Couldn’t say there was anything I didn’t like
