Guest Reviews
- Graham (10/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): -
- Philip (3/5): Disappointing. - Tricky location, no breakfast, cramped. Not suitable for winter. Very cramped. Could not recommend for 2 people as one of them would bang their head on the roof every time they sat up. Difficult to find on a dark wet night. No one answered the phone
- Amy (10/5): The most amazing space. - It is the most beautiful hidden gem, it was comfortable and clean, easy instructions on how to access, it was just wonderful.
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Wayne (8/5): Worth the money nice place to get away, very clean and unique place to stay - Very quirky cute apartment The layout
- Helen (9/5): Welcoming, pretty & unique property. Just didn’t have long enough to enjoy it. - A welcoming unique property, cleverly designed and decorated with lovely lights and bunting. The owner has thought of everything to make it an enjoyable stay.
We were lucky enough to have good weather on our arrival day and spent some time in the garden, which has a fantastic view.
We hope to rebook again later on in the year. Early checkout time….11:00 would have been better.
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah-jayne (10/5): First Class - Ideal location for our purposes comfortable and clean. This was our 3rd stay at the property.
- Motley (10/5): A beautiful place and would recommend to others. Would stay here again!! - Unique design, beautiful views, comfortable bed and a very quiet space to sleep and live in. The garden needed some care. There was poo behind the table and chairs, and items like a net and rubber ring left on the hedges, could just have had a little sweep up and poo pick
- John (6/5): It was ok - Location was challenging Step to the bathroom was tricky, could have done with clean towels after two nights
- Vicky (8/5): Very good - Cosy n cute I think it would be better if there was a microwave incase you wanted food
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bjorn (10/5): Cosy base to explore the surrounding countryside - Check-in was smooth and the instructions were clear - reserved parking space was clearly marked. Everything we could have wanted was available, and the host was extremely responsive to communications, even early on a Sunday morning, when we needed her help. Didn't get a chance to use the garden, as we were there on a dull, damp, day in December, but I can imagine it's lovely on a nicer day. When you are 6 foot tall, you have to watch out for the beams - but you get used to it. For a couple, the person at the far side of the bed really does have a limited space to move around in (height-wise).
- Julia (8/5): Very good -
- Lewis (10/5): Lovely little getaway in a great location - We loved the rustic effect with the exposed beams and the little touches like the chilled out music as we walked in and the hot drink making facilities. The bed was comfortable and the walk in shower was great too. The only thing I can think of is that the toilet was a little loose but apart from that no other complaints.
- Quigs (10/5): Cozy retreat - Nice place for a weekend away. Very clean, and complimentary tea and coffee provided. I think it would be better to stay in summer, so as to enjoy the private garden. Could be difficult for people who are less steady on their feet to reach the top of the steps. This is mentioned in the listing, and we had no problem.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Quite, peaceful, a perfect place to just "chill out".
Warm, cosy, comfortable. N/A
- Mark (10/5): Ideal place for a couple of nights, host was easy to contact and just made it very enjoyable - Lovely quiet area
Tania answered any questions promptly.
Everything you could ask for in a short break.
Ideal place if you like walking in the countryside plus local pub within a 10 minute walk.
Tea and coffee facilities.
Dared.
Garden area is perfect to sit out when weather permits, chairs and table and a swing chair. Not a problem for us but it is quite hilly and steps to property quite steep.
- Ennisteve (10/5): This place is a little gem, tucked away in a lovely quiet area. The owner is super helpful -
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah-jayne (10/5): Hidden gem of a place - Perfect again for our stay. This was our 2nd stay at the property, location lovely so quiet and peaceful. Facilities spot on would not hesitate in staying again. Nothing
- Angus (8/5): Was perfect for me - The room was comfortable and rustic and the bathroom great. A very quiet and private place Roads were a challenge when you are not used to them! But not host’s responsibility
- Lois (10/5): Lovely 2 night break and would recommend this property to others - Great value for money , location was central to where we wanted to go , shibden hall was great and we had a lovely hike to lumb hole waterfall , we also visited Halifax , close to lovely places to eat. The accommodation was lovely and clean , bed was super comfortable and there was plenty of tea and coffee facilities ,. Good communication from the host Tania , and very clear instructions for arrival and departure, lovely homely touches within the property and thoughtful details , thanks for a great stay. Everything was great for us
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place. Well kept, quiet, all that you needed for a night away.
- Harriette (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location with excellent communication prior to visit. Very clean, homely & a comfortable place so stay!
- Sarah-jayne (10/5): Ideal location and size, good value will definitely return. - Quirkyness, location, facilities everything we needed, warm and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Nothing.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - What a lovely place the Hideaway is. It's cosy the bed is comfortable. It had everything that we needed. My Husband said that you can see that a woman has decorated it because it had special touches
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (9/5): Very relaxing. - Beautiful, cosy room.
- Clare (9/5): Superb - Lovely location and great little bolthole with very homely touches. Loved the fairy lights and radio. Very comfy bed and wonderful shower and garden area as others have said. Owner is lovely too as I left something behind in error after returning keys and she went out of her way to make sure I got it back in time. Great local pub ( Alma) a short walk away which does lovely dinner and breakfast. All good really. Maybe a little bin in the living room ( although a bin bag was provided so not an issue.)
- Karl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Dave (8/5): A great bolthole at a good price , just what we needed - The place was blissfully quiet day and night. Once the car was parked up there was an adequate bus service to Ripponden or Halifax with the bus stop 2mins walk away. All in a great place for what we needed. Many thanks Nothing really, car parking a little tight to get out of when vehicle parked opposite but that was more to do with our large car than the facilities provided A toaster would have been lovely.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - The room was lovely. Very welcoming, homely and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
- Julian (8/5): Excellent. Tania very hospitable. - Hard to find.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stewart (10/5): A lovely little place for our short visit. - All good - we needed a place to stay for a night, to attend a wedding in the next village. Everything was well organised, clean and comfortable. We did not meet out hosts but the self-check in instructions were perfect and easy to follow. Thanks again.
- Anonymous (7/5): Simple in and out - Clean and cheap, lovely garden Smaller than appeared on photo , no interaction with owners, wanted guest to do their housekeeping
- Jacki (3/5): Nice stay until we got accused of damaging the sofa!!! - The room was very cosy and the bed was comfortable. The defining issue was we were accused of damaging the sofa when we just dropped a piece of chocolate on the throw which was covering the sofa. We have been charged over £100 for the damage and we are currently waiting for booking.com to refund the money. Access to the place is tricky if you have mobility issues. Nowhere to buy food for miles and nowhere to eat out....as far as we were aware anyway. No information on local amenities were available. We never met the owner has she asked us to 'politely' not knock on her door and deliver keys through the door. There was no table to eat at and the sofa where we dropped a chocolate button was the only place to sit. Apart from that it was beautiful.
- Akhter (10/5): A perfect getaway in a beautiful part of the world. - Location was stunning, views fabulous. Garden lovely and relaxing.Very cosy accommodation, bed v comfy.Good instructions re parking and entry to the property. I just needed an iron as I didn’t realise there wouldn’t be one available but wasn’t a huge issue. No other issues at all.
- Wendy (10/5): The Hideaway, perfect stay away - Myself and my fiancé stayed at The Hideaway on 21.06.23 as we were attending a concert at The Piece Hall that evening and decided to stay overnight as a little mini break. The owner of the property was very informative as to how to gain access to this beautiful unique haven of peace set high in the Ripponden hills with full use of the garden and furniture, with a small pond.it is blissful and very private. The accommodation is immaculate and very tastefully decorated. On entering we found pretty fairy lights welcoming us and soft classical music playing on the vintage styled radio in the bedroom. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were all left for us aswell as bottled water. Fresh towels and toiletries were also provided. There is a comfy sofa just right for a couple and TV in the room. The bathroom is beautiful light and airy with a great shower. The bed is very comfy too. I would definitely like to return ASAP. Absolutely wonderful find. Thankyou 😊 10 ou of 10 Having to leave! We would stay longer.next time and explore the area more.Ripponden is so picturesque and has many lovely walks to do.
- Darren (9/5): Superb - location is absolutely beautiful . The owner was extremely polite and helpful . beautiful location
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous find, well maintained and a very well thought out use of such a small space to create a little haven.
Comfy bed, wet room was a pleasure to use. Easy straight forward instructions on how to enter etc.
We will definitely return. Nothing
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (7/5): Good -
- Ollie (10/5): Ollie - The room was spotless, but still felt very homely and the whole place was brimming with character. The garden was beautiful and well kept. My wife and I enjoyed our stay.
- Mark (9/5): unique property in a quiet village. The perfect place to chill and get away from city life. - Delightful and unique property with a lot of character. Not the usual standard decor which was a wonderful change. We wanted somewhere different and uniqu in the middle of nowhere and that is exactly what we found with the Hideaway A small table would have been good near the couch to use for meal times. other than that, it was absolutely perfect for what we wanted.
thank you.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Grant (10/5): comfortable room in beautiful surroundings - it was a lovely presented room with spacious bathroom. good tea and coffee making equipment. bed was comfortable. location was excellent, surroundings were beautiful. good local pub within walking distance, The Alma serves good good and drink.
- Kristen (9/5): Hideaway - Lovely quirky little room, very cosy. Bed was very comfy. Plenty of tea / coffee facilities. Owners were very helpful and responsive to questions. A lovely night's sleep.
Free WIFI The bathroom floor is very slippy when damp resulting in quite a bad fall.
Having to strip the bedding before leaving.
- Steph (10/5): Exceptional - The cosy place. The lights and the classic FM that was on when we walked it. I cried when I saw it Nothing (could do with a proper bin though!)
- Joanne (10/5): Cosy, off the grid, a true hidden gem - Everything. Clean, cosy, all the tiny things that make it more perfect. Decor beautiful, all tea and coffee making facilities. Beautiful location and scenery. Super comfy bed and bedding. Toiletries dotted about the bathroom were a nice touch. Perfect little hideaway for a couple. Tv with Wifi, parking to the front, really good quality towels, thoughtful instructions left on how to use all equipment such as heating, tv etc. The card on the bed was a lovely touch. High quality standard throughout and felt completely shut off from the world in our own little bubble. Accidentally tripped the electrics by blowing a bulb and the lovely homeowner/host was easily contactable and sorted it immediately for us. I can’t wait to stay again, I want to tell everyone I know about it, beautiful Thankyou for having us! Cannot fault anything at all - 100% perfection!
Just for feedback (I would have wifi password typed and printed just because I couldn’t tell if some of the digits were uppercase or lowercase and couldn’t connect myself to the wifi - not an issue though we used our hotspot on the phone. May make it easier for next visitors to connect) as I say not a criticism as I could not find fault in anything during my stay
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place and lovely quiet location. N/A
- Helain (9/5): Superb - Cute, quirky little place. Perfect for a short stay for a couple. Parking was a little bit awkward.
- Gary (8/5): Very good -
- Sally (8/5): A quiet, lovely unique space where we could get away from it all and relax. - The Hideaway was a lovely little find, quite quirky, very comfy and we enjoyed a very chilled, relaxed quiet break there. Thank you! We would like to return again perhaps when the weather is better to have the opportunity to use the lovely garden space.
- Natalie (9/5): The room was beautiful! Small, cosy and comfortable! I had the best night sleep :D -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (7/5): had a great stay, would use the property again. - loved it’s quirkiness, very rustic. nice big wet room. wasn’t well signed for finding in the dark.
was a little tight for parking.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): cosy quiet - beautiful private garden interior stunning. very private cosy and high standard finish.
- Saleyha (9/5): Overall lovely - Cosy and a little haven. Loved the fairy lights being on and classic fm playing when I entered. Just bliss Not a fan of packaged crepes. They weren't great I'm afraid.
- Tara (10/5): I would stay again - beautiful property & really relaxing
- Ness (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (9/5): Nice short stay loft, recommended. - Very nice property, everything was clean, the decoration was very tastefully done and it was set out well. The little garden is very nice as are the views. Fairly useful location, not far from Halifax. I would stay again and happily recommend to a friend. It is very steep especially the steps on the way down, but it is Yorkshire and it's not really a bad thing just something of which to be aware. Its a loft room not an apartment so more for a short stay but that suited me. So the only minor thing is that the duvet was very warm but the bed was otherwise comfortable.
- Hargreaves (10/5): Exceptional - Cute little place absolutely loved it! Just the parking but we adapted
