Guest Reviews
- Lesley (9/5): - We were provide with wonderful bread, eggs, milk and homemade jam.
The setting was amazing . It is a very small point, The Woodshed roadside board only faces one way.
- Colin (10/5): Very comfortable and very friendly host - Shannon was extremely accommodating in transporting to and from Exton Nothing
- Ben James (10/5): Absolutely perfect stay in a beautiful location - This is such a lovely place to stay in a beautiful, peaceful location. The accommodation itself is really spacious and comfortable, and had everything we could need. Shannon, the host, is fantastic - communication was smooth and she was even kind enough to collect us from the local pub after our long day of walking. Highly recommend!
- Ruth (10/5): Wonderful stay just off the South Downs way with everything we needed - Lovely clean and tidy cottage Nothing
- Rachel (10/5): Everything provided for a truly restful and reviving visit - My host's generosity shone through. There was a real sense of home, comfort and kindness. The home had everything I could want and I had the most magnificent stay. Warm, homely, very well equipped, lovely shower, helpful communication over and above what was expected, wonderful wildlife, fantastic food for breakfast provided over and above what was expected. Thank you so much. I'll be back!
- stewart (10/5): - Beautiful country side and red kites
- Margaret (10/5): On a clear night enjoy the stars! - The location was fabulous. The sky was fun of stars, spectacular at night with the addition of the silence. It was off down a lane from a busy road. We were only visiting to go to a funeral but would happily go back for longer as it’s in the most lovely of country and we found a pub close by for supper. Sharean the host provided a delicious breakfast with loads of choice in the fridge. The set up is really very well done and we couldn’t fault our stay. We loved everything and couldn’t fault anything
- Peter (10/5): Absolutely enjoyable experience - Lovely location Host exceptional The Woodshed is the place to visit for peace and tranquility Nothing at all

- Sylvia (10/5): - Fresh bread all basics foods including eggs meusli( freshly mixed not individual packets)coffee( variety of styles)
We felt valued and respected as visitors and we’re happy to pay for that feeling though didn’t know that until we arrived. In fact we came home with our coffee pot and breakfast unused because of the thoughtfulness provided by Shannon
- Shaun (10/5): Perfectly peaceful - Very quiet location very clean and comfortable
- Nina (10/5): Perfect Peace and Quiet - Loved the peace and quiet (post Christmas) in this gorgeous barn conversion. Exceptionally clean and comfortable with wonderful views. The host offered a late check out, so we were able to enjoy a countryside walk in the Meon Valley. Wish we could have stayed longer. N/A
- cheryl (10/5): A little piece of paradise - There was nothing to dislike about this fantastic little place in the countryside. Comfortable, cosy and memorable. The facilities are first rate and of good quality. Lovely toiletries, towels etc.
Extra touches we were not expecting such as drinks, milk, bread and eggs.
If you are doing the South Downs Way, you will need your rucksack and nothing else to stay here in comfort.
Shannon, the host goes the extra mile to provide information and even picked us up from the end of our walk from the pub.
Would highly recommend Nothing
- Sharon (10/5): - Clean cosy spacious amazing views lovely little surprises of eggs, bread highly recomend
- MaJah (10/5): A Hidden Gem- Calm, Cosy and Full of Nature - The wildlife is amazing, with so many different kinds of birds — I even woke up to the gentle call of a pheasant right outside my window. The cabin is beautiful, spacious, and filled with a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Our host, Shannon, went above and beyond to make us feel truly welcome. We loved the thoughtful touch of fresh local bakery bread provided for the morning. It was such a peaceful and memorable stay — we will definitely be back!
- ward (9/5): - We were walking the South Downs Way and were having dinner at a nearby pub, 2 miles away. Our host volunteered to take us there and collect us later in their car.
- Liz (10/5): - Shannon collected us from the end of our walk - very friendly and helpful NA
- Tuur (8/5): Fantastisch. - De rustige omgeving.
- Tuur (8/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): Perfect first stop on the South Downs Way - The Woodshed was our first stop on the South Downs Way. Shannon was brilliant - picking us up at the end of our days walking, plus taking us to the pub in Exton. The accommodation is on a farm and is very quiet and rural. Nothing.
- Felicity (10/5): A very enjoyable stay, which exceeded our expecations. - Superb, peaceful location with excellent facilities, catering for all conceivable requirements. We would certainly like to return in the future. Our only minor comment is that there was a problem with temperature dial on the shower.
- Polly (10/5): - Excellent host , location and facilities! Thank you 🤩
- Elliw (10/5): Perfect stay - The house was perfect and idyllic. This was our first stop while walking the south downs way. The area was gorgeous and the host was wonderful and so helpful. Highly recommend!
- Zara (10/5): Exceptional. Simply perfect. - Beautiful and peaceful. Exceptionally clean. Comfortable and quality linens and bedding. Incredibly well stocked / furnished kitchen. Best of all, amazing warm home made bread. I’d quite happily move in! The owner is clearly passionate about the property (fresh flowers, fruit, eggs, milk / I could go on!) and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a memorable stay. Thank you. Absolutely nothing, it was perfect.

- Kathleen (10/5): - Fabulous. Really sorry we couldn't stay longer. Idyllic, so quiet and so comfortable. Host was most accommodating.
- Stan (9/5): Fantastic B&B with friendly host - Great place to stay! Shannon made us feel very welcome. Kids had lots of fun too. Nearby Winchester easy to reach. Definitely a recommendation if you’re in the area! Nothing.
- Gerco (10/5): Relaxing - Very nice house, in a great location (if you like peace and quiet).
The house is decorated just like you would do your own home, and we really appreciated the various products that were provided for us. Nothing is perfect, and these are just details. The outdoor seating area could use some attention, and the dining table is a bit tiny. But as I said: details.
- Natasha (10/5): Perfect accommodation - Fantastic accommodation, staying for the night for a party nearby. The Woodshed was bigger than pictures suggested, it was a hot day and the property is really cool and airy. It is a beautiful and peaceful location and had everything we needed. Shannon was very friendly, communicative and helpful. Comfy beds for us and our children, breakfast was much welcomed. Delicious bread and thanks a million for a lift back to our car in the morning. We would love to come back!
- Ken (10/5): Great place to stop over doing the South Downs Way on bikes - Dry spacious and well appointed. Shannon, our host was very hospitable. Even provided us a lift to and from the local pub where we had booked our dinner as it was tipping down with rain and we were on our bikes. Much appreciated. I suppose if it was nearer Ro the South Downs Way it may have been better, but was less than a mile I think and it was flat as along a disused railway track. Not much flat ground around here!
- Robyn (9/5): Excellent host, excellent value. - The owner, Shannon, is terrific, very kind and helpful - she drove us to local pub for dinner and picked us up. Lovely comfortable place to stay, especially after a long day of walking.
- Hsiao (10/5): Great, highly recommended. - The host is very kind and friendly. None.
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely exceptional host and house, cant recommend enough :)
- Giles (9/5): Great spot to stay whilst cycling the King Alfred's Way -
- Wilkins (10/5): Great place, fab countryside views. Would like to return to enjoy it again sometime. - Our host left a home made loaf for us which made delicious toast for breakfast. We struggled to find the property - a sign on the main road would have been useful, but once we knew where to turn off it was fine.
- Charlotte (10/5): Superb stay - Everything.
Lots of space and well equipped kitchen.
Views were amazing. We were walking the South Downs Way.
Shannon our host was exceptional. She drove us to and from the pub for our evening meal. Nothing
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Masashi (10/5): Perfect cottage - We had a very good time staying at Woodshed with a wonderful view from the windows for five nights. There were lots to see around there. We enjoyed watching various birds and lovely spring flowers. Shannon and Jack were so kind and helpful to us. We'd like to come back again. Nothing at all.
- Nyree (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - Exceptional accommodation.❤️Shannon was a fantastic host.
Great views and facilities.
We will definitely be back!
- Richard (10/5): Lovely Relaxing Location - Perfect location for exploring Neon Valley. Shannon is a great host, and the Woodshed is very comfortable and peaceful. Lovely stay (like last time) Everything was excellent
- Victoria (10/5): Cosy, calm countryside retreat. - Lovely peaceful location, nice furnishing. Nothing would love to return.
- Siobhain (10/5): Amazing, tranquil, just perfect! - Everything, can’t fault anything Impossible to dislike anything!
- William (9/5): Lovely accommodation, a very relaxing stay. - Superb accommodation, I will stay again. I stayed in winter and arrived in the dark, when I got up the next day, the beautiful views from the windows made for a great start to the day. Nothing to say regarding this. I found it faultless.
- Helen (10/5): Lovely, peaceful location, beautiful views. Very well equipped accommodation and super helpful host. -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosmarie (9/5): Next time we stay several days in The Woodshed as it is the perfect place for a relaxed holiday. - We had a great stay at The Woodshed as it was very cosy with lovely design details, books and furniture. We liked the mixture of modern and traditional elements. The shower was very good as was the kitchenware. Breakfast included (among other things) fresh fruits which we enjoyed very much. Shannon collected us from the local pub in the evening by car and brought to the local shop in the morning, which was very helpful for us! Next time we stay more days in The Woodshed.
- Eliza (10/5): Exceptional - Shannon was very helpful and on hand with local knowledge. The Woodshed was well kitted out, though we didn’t have much time to use many of facilities it seemed to have everything you’d need for a short or long stay.
- Richard (10/5): Spacious and comfortable, this place is a real walkers’ gem. Don’t let the distance from Exton deter you - Firstly Shannon was an exceptional host, picking us up from Exton, offering to drop us off at the pub for dinner and collect us later, or go and pickup some pizzas. The woodshed was so spacious and comfortable that we decided to stay in and order some pizzas. And after a wet day on the SDW there was plenty of room to dry clothing. Nothing
- Manuela (10/5): Brilliant house and hosts. - Beautiful accommodation throughout with great views, kind & friendly hosts, lovely extra touches eg home made sourdough, farm milk and eggs. Shannon very kindly offered us a lift from Exton as we were walking. It was so nice I'm quite keen to go back!
- Gadi (9/5): Great for a peaceful stay, highly recommended - The surroundings is nothing less than amazing, so beautiful and peaceful. The woodshed is much nicer than seems in the images! Very comfortable bathrooms, beds and kitchen. Our girls also enjoyed the children books. We loved it! The only tiny thing is that the olive oil ran out, but surely this is not a constant issue :-)
- Jill (10/5): Shannon was the perfect host. She came to pick us up three times. Each time with a smile on her face. The fridge was sto - The property was spacious clean and beautifully decorated. Nothing at all. I could move in tomorrow.
- Nicholas (9/5): Great place to stay on the South Downs Way - A great host who picked us up from the South Downs Way (and offered to drop us off and pick us up from the local pub for our evening meal). The Woodshed is roomy, sunny, well equipped. The homemade sourdough bread was lovely. Peaceful location, right in the countryside. There were no negatives at all about our stay. It's a shame it was only for one night.
- Liz (10/5): Would 100% recommend. - Fantastic quiet rural location, but still convenient for village shop etc. Very spacious and comfortable. Lots of good walks nearby, interesting places to visit, apparently a bus runs to and from Winchester every hour or so from the village, we didn’t bother going to Winchester as we preferred going walking.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional Stay and Fantastic Host, Highly Recommended - The Woodshed is a spacious and well laid out apartment set in a wonderful location. There are amazing views from the bedroom, kitchen and lounge. The apartment was spotless, there is plenty of parking, it is very peaceful and quiet. The large bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, there is also a separate toilet which is useful if there are more than two guests' staying.
Shannon goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is memorable. Communication was excellent and Shannon was kind enough to collect me from Exton as I was walking the South Downs Way, dinner at the Shoe Inn was excellent. Eggs, bread, jam, milk, coffee etc were provided for breakfast which was a lovely touch.
Thank you to you and your family Shannon for your wonderful hospitality, see you again in a few months’ time. There was nothing to dislike
- Helena (9/5): Felt like a real break even though it was a short overnighted. Would have loved to stay longer! - Shannon was great with communications. The location is amazing, beautiful views and very tranquil. It was all spotlessly clean and provisions for breakfast were delicious.
- Allen (10/5): Exceptional - excellent
- Tyler (10/5): Exceptional - The host was great, even picked us up in town and dropped us off at the trail the next morning.
- Adrian (10/5): We had a great stay, will definitely stay again. - Loved the location, the host was very accommodating and responded to queries quickly and very helpfully and the property was lovely. Really clean and comfortable, had everything we needed and more. Even had fresh and local produce in the cupboards and fridge for breakfast and snacks.
- Chris (9/5): Just what we needed - a comfortable family base in the South Downs of Hampshire - What a gem this place is - perfect for a family visiting the area but also wanting to switch off and drink in some nature at a slower pace. The place itself is lovely, well-appointed (TV with services, games, dishwasher etc) and comfortable, with great beds and shower - and stocked with breakfast goodies. And uninterrupted views of green fields and trees. Outside was heaven for a small explorer - trampoline, bikes to ride, trees to climb. And all of this was minutes away from some of the best family attractions around - the Winchester Science Centre, Marwell Zoo, pony riding sessions and proper pubs. Oh and communication with Shannon was perfect - there when you need anything and very considerate. Bliss.
- Nancy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (10/5): Just what I needed thank you. - Delightful property, warm, comfortable, lovely owner Shannon and the most exceptional shower. After a cold, muddy walk on the South Downs Way, I had a comfy, relaxing evening in the Woodshed. Thank you for the bread, eggs, fruit and lifts Shannon, you’re a top notch host. Absolutely nothing.
- Simon (10/5): Perfect in every way, would use again without question. - Good location for my trip, excellent facilities, spacious and comfortable, very clean, nothing to fault at all. Nothing at all.
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (7/5): Good - Gorgeous place, lovely big bed, bedroom, bathroom. Lovely big lounge and sofa. Super views on one side. Warm. Clean.
Lovely fresh sourdough bread in the fridge, with basics for breakfast and coffees. Definitely value for money. I understand now from reading comments that the farm hosts pheasant shoots - I did not know this and would prefer that to be made clear on the description, as I may not have booked had I known.
I would have appreciated a heads up that an event was being hosted while we were there - it was a bit of a shock to open the curtains first thing in the morning in my pyjamas and see a large group of people standing out there. Put a bit of a damper on my idea of getting away from it all, particularly when I heard what I assume to be the shooting of the pheasants later.
I just ask for a bit of transparency on the place description, as although everything else about the property, facilities, view, etc was fantastic, I still would probably have chosen somewhere else to stay had I had all the above facts to hand.
- Amy (10/5): Lovely place to stay! - Clean, tidy and very comfortable! Essentials provided in the kitchen which was very helpful.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional!! - A clean, comfortable, spacious environment in a peaceful setting with beautiful views. Shannon is a phenomenal host who goes out of her way to accommodate your needs and to make your stay enjoyable. One of my most memorable stays. Highly recommend. Thank you, Shannon...all the best

Possibly a bigger table in the kitchen.
- Lili (10/5): Exceptional - Shannon was a great host, nothing was too much trouble. Easy to contact and able to help with enquiries. We arrived later than planned in the dark and Shannon had made the sofa bed up for us, key in the door and light on! So lovely to have breakfast items waiting for us- the home bread was delicious. Facilities were well thought out and attention to detail was amazing. Lovely tranquil location

The rooms were so well presented with lovely linen and covers. Lovely and clean as well.
The owner who met us was so friendly and helpful. Wifi was a little slow at times, but to be expected based on its rural location.
- Geoffrey (10/5): Exceptional - Essentials were there; bread, milk coffee and fruit etc.

- Jo (10/5): Perfect if you want peace and quiet but the option of nearby pubs and grub! - Shannon is a fantastic host who kindly picked us up from the South Downs Way trail and even dropped us off in the village for supper. For this reason, don't be put off if you're on foot. The Studio is large, tastefully furnished and decorated, and was spotless. The kitchen is very well equipped. It's good value. The location is very special, particularly if you're looking to get away from it all. Nothing
- Miked3 (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, lovely farm. Really enjoyed our stay! They were very kind and left some nice fresh bread and baked treats for us. All in all, great experience. The beds and pillows were a little uncomfortable (too soft for our liking) but I suppose more a matter of personal taste.
- Cordner (10/5): Fantastic. - Everything, from the moment we got there to the moment we left.
- Harvey (10/5): Wonderful relaxing break!! - It was wonderful. So quiet and peaceful. We arrived to lovely pain au chocolate, fresh homemade bread and jam and eggs and milk. Lots of other supplies in the cupboard. The accommodation was spacious and clean with beautiful views.
- Gerard (10/5): Perfect - Super breakfast. Home made bread and jam with local milk. A great start to a days walking. We also had cakes on arrival and a bowl of fresh fruit
- Jo (9/5): Lovely studio apartment - Lovely spacious self catering property. Very clean. The homemade sourdough bread and plum jam were a nice touch. Only criticism was that the bed was a rather small double! It was a lovely large room and would easily have taken a larger bed.
- Mark (10/5): Lovely location. Beautiful views. A great place to stay! - Set in beautiful farmland, but close enough to pubs and a super village shop, this venue is really lovely and we loved the fabulous views! Our host welcomed us and she had kindly left some homemade treats in the fridge. We only stayed for one night, but have honestly liked have stayed longer. All good…
