Guest Reviews
- Jack (10/5): - Perfect location! Would highly recommend!
- Susan (9/5): Right place and right location. - Charming place. A typical Devon cottage. Early morning traffic a bit noisy but not unexpected.
- Kerry (10/5): We had a fabulous time thankyou and the welcome card and wine were much appreciated. - A real home from home. Everything we needed was there. Cosy, clean, comfortable and the setting is quiet and relaxing. One of the double bedroom doorways steps right out onto the stairs rather than the landing. This is not a dislike but rather a consideration.
- Becky (9/5): Great stay thank you - Quirky and warm and cosy No parking
- Margaret (10/5): - The atmosphere was wonderful.
Gorgeous cottage. Easy access to shops.
Beautiful area for a holiday.
Would highly recommend Tubs Cottage. Nothing at all.
- Nulufer (10/5): - Tubs cottage was very clean and well designed. The location was amazing and walking distance to the supermarket and the pub. Highly recommend this cottage to everyone!!!!
- Simon (10/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): Relaxing and very cosy - Beautifully presented, very comfortable. Perfect for a relaxing weekend. Parking a bit tricky, but not a huge issue. Didn’t ruin the weekend at all.
- Harriet (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): We all loved staying at your beautiful cottage and would not hesitate to stay here again. - It was very comfortable and warm throughout our stay. Perfect position in the town to access everything we needed. Only one bathroom.
Size of dining table, rather small.
Unable to play board games in the beautiful cozy sitting room due to the unevenness of the trunk top surface.
- Amy (8/5): TUBS! - Traditional looking cottage within good location. Lovely touches like Christmas tree and welcome pack. Because this cottage was unable to be updated, the windows were not to be updated, so sleeping was difficult as we could hear every car going by on the road.
- Leanne (10/5): Perfection. Thank you Glenn - Amazing beautiful thatched cottage! Very comfortable and everything you need, well equipped kitchen. Glenn messaged us before our stay with all the information we needed for check in. Would love to come back and would stay here again.
- ishtea (10/5): Beautiful cottage - The whole experience was very good, from booking to arrival. The cottage is beautiful and has everything you need for your stay.
- Andy (10/5): Excellent from start to finish - Extremely well equipped and an ideal location as a base to visit other local towns.
Totally felt like a home, not a holiday stopover.
We will return! Others have already commented about local parking and the accessibility of the top floor twin room. Be aware, but not an issue for our nimble teenagers!
- Arpad (10/5): -
- shannon (10/5): Cosy, comfortable & lots of character - Cosy, comfortable and full of character. Ideal for a family get away.
- Leigh (10/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Great family break away in a charming cottage - Beautiful and in convenient location
- TANYA (10/5): Terrific Tubs - Great little holiday let ,everything you could possibly need provided .Beautifully designed and appointed . The cottage is clean and tidy .Great location to travel from to places of interest. Local amenities close by .We found the owner of Tubs to be polite ,helpful, and very kind . There is nothing not to like .You would really struggle to find a thing wrong ,it really is super .
- Kerry (10/5): We absolutely loved it. So many nooks and crannies to explore, and all so clean and tidy! - What a gem! We’ve been struggling to find an accommodation that worked for us and our children while visiting family in the area, so we’re so pleased to have found Tubs. There were so many little nooks to explore, which our children absolutely loved. The beds are SO comfy. I honestly went in to the weekend like “urgh, no parking + two small kids = drama” but the unloading spot was literally at the gate to the property. There were always parking options nearby after that, and actually the one we ended up using really often was up this little brick wall so had two happy kids trotting along exploring. Worked a charm.
Similarly, stairs up to the third bedroom are steep, which wasn’t an issue as it became a bit of a game sliding down on bums but was a bit of a surprise when we first arrived (and meant we ended up putting our overnight toilet trained son in nappies to avoid him having to make the trip at nighttime as toilet was on ground floor) but would’ve been able to plan around that with a bit more prior thought.

- Paul (9/5): Lovely very well equipped and quirky cottage in a good location for exploring South Devon. - The cottage was in a good location to explore this part of Devon and had plenty of options to eat out within walking distance. It also had a local shops in easy walking distance. The only small thing that this cottage lacks is a private outdoor space to sit and eat/drink outside.
- Kathleen (9/5): Very special old cottage - Well stocked kitchen everything you could need Parking
- Robin (8/5): Very good - Beautiful, cosy and well equipped little cottage with everything we needed. Better for adults and older children due to steep stairs and a few steep drops which aren't the best for smaller children.
- Alison (10/5): Can’t wait to return - Gorgeous thatched cottage full of character. Spotlessly clean and superbly well equipped. Great location with shops and bus stop within very easy walking distance. Very attentive, kind and friendly hosts. A joy and a privilege to stay in this lovely property Loved all of it. Especially its quirkiness

- Cassie (10/5): Would recommend, such a warm cosy cottage and great host x - It was well equipped, cosy and in an excellent location, Glenn couldn’t do enough for us and ensured our visit ran smoothly. Also, very dog friendly - We loved it! Na
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage, well kitted out Local parking difficult
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Malcolm (9/5): Superb -
- Leigh (10/5): Great family holiday. - Very authentic & beautiful cottage, well maintained. Location was perfect for visiting family and day trips. The amenities around the cottage were great with most writhing 5 min walk. Parking was unfortunately down the road on street which I wish I knew before booking. Car was hit whilst parked there but you get to the short walk otherwise.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed inside the cottage. There was no parking, but managed to find a space on a side street.
- Bayliss (9/5): Perfect location to explore the area. - Beautiful cottage, very comfortable. Perfect location. Lack of parking and no garden.
- Joe (9/5): Superb - Lovely cottage, clean and such a fab history. Comfortable, and great location. Parking a little tricky and road can be a little noisy but still a super stay and would definitely return.
- Tash (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was exceptionally beautiful. The whole family felt completely at home, and we would recommend highly to anyone who is looking for a centrally located property with excellent transport routes. We liked everything.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (6/5): Nice quirky cottage in great location but needs some TLC and improvements - Location excellent and lovely quirky cottage but room for a lot of improvement It was very warm and no fans were provided. Towels didn’t smell fresh and were far too small, certainly not bath towels. Bed extremely hard and uncomfortable and we kept walking with a frozen shoulder and sore backs. Had to strip the duvet cover to wash it and the duvet was absolutely filthy and covered in stains. Carpet not practical in a dog friendly cottage and was very dirty. Would be better to have a hard floor, especially in such a small area/room.
No milk provided and no washing up materials provided or washing up bowl. Shower curtain was tatty. Bathroom would be better with a large shower in it as showering in the bath was very cramped. Was quite dusty in places too. Frying pan was filthy and we had to wash it properly before using.
Host was lovely and very accommodating but property and comfort needs some attention.
- Chris (8/5): Overall a great little place to escape with plenty on offer around. - Location to get around Devon was very accessible. Plenty to do around the area. Great character cottage. The garden was a tad small if bringing a dog, and not having a driveway or parking space. These however were easily overcome though with plenty of routes to walk the dog and some streets with spaces to park.
- Adelina (9/5): Superb -
- Dash (8/5): Very good -
- Vikki (10/5): Exceptional - A great cottage in a fantastic location with a great pub close by
- Michelle (10/5): exactly what was needed - relaxed - Great location. Close to shops, walks and beaches N/a
- James (10/5): You will not be dissaponted if you book this cottage. - Everything! It’s such a lovely cottage and we had a great time. Nothing.
- Vivienne (9/5): Superb - The cottage was beautiful. Decor was great and it was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Good information pack. Couldn't fault it. Parking a challenge but no complaints about the accommodation.
- Diana (5/5): Location and surrounding areas were lovely to visit but we have stayed in many cottages before without this problem. We - Beautiful cottage well stocked with all one could need Unfortunately very precarious stairs in property though said on booking we were 3 ladies in our 70’s and one lady of diminutive height was going to sleep in the top room but had a fright after nearly falling downstairs the result was I ending up sleeping on sofa for duration of stay and let her have my room. Though rope handrail was mentioned steepness stepping straight out of 2 bedrooms onto stairs was not.
- Ana (9/5): Superb - The house was modern and clean
- Jo (10/5): Five star cottage, a wonderful place to stay ☺️ - Tubs Cottage is in a great location & is just so cute & cosy; it was the perfect place to come home to for a few days.
- Euan (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (9/5): Lovely stay and loved the ease of visiting nearby beaches. Within half an hour we were in Brixham for a beer and then 20 - Very cosy, ideal for a few nights away to totally switch off and relax. Loved the board games and the local pub (20 second walk!) has a dart board and pool table. I was beaten at darts but happy to win at scrabble and Pub Quiz games at the cottage with the lovely bottle of red wine left for us on arrival. Not a dislike, just advice for light sleepers: Very noisy in the morning for the school run nearby. Would suggest taking ear plugs if you want a lie in :)
- Cook (9/5): Cost - The property was cosy and comfortable with everything you needed for your stay.Prime location to get to all the nearby beach resorts and local amenities such as supermarkets and pubs.
- Helen (10/5): Beautiful cottage, lovely and cosy. - Tastefully furnished and decorated, modernised kitchen and bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen everything we need for our Christmas Dinner 2023. High quality furnishings, you can tell property is loved by the owners. Great central heating, WiFi, newly decorated breakfast room. Downstairs rooms decorated for Christmas with lovely Christmas tree 🎄 and other decor. Good quality bedding and towels. Cleaning items provided. Welcome park card of how the cottage looked years ago, wine, biscuits and chocolates. Excellent communication with Glenn via booking.com. Pet friendly. Due to age of property had steep, deep steps up to bedrooms especially top floor, and step to bathroom and 3 to breakfast room. There is a stairgate in property. So if you have mobility issues or small children this could cause problems. No parking at the property but Glenn gave good suggestions of where too park within 5 mins of cottage , can park outside to load. Road is busy.
- Geoffrey (9/5): A lovely place to stay, full of charm, great value & location. Book with confidence -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Beautiful property in a great location - Tubs Cottage was beautiful and provided everything we needed for our stay. Great communication from the owners and altogether provided us with a lovely base for our break
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alithea (10/5): Wonderful family summer break with pooch - Everything!!!
Spotless clean when we walked in, adored every single colour themed room - especially the loft! We were big fans of the board game box & the little conservatory for dinner.
Every room had everything we ever needed and more in, especially the kitchen! Given complimentary local red wine & biscuits which were delicious.
The whole cottage is very homey and modern, and an absolute home away from home.
Bedrooms were nicely made, had one super soft pillow and one firm one and super comfy mattresses and duvets, like sleeping on a cloud. Every room has enough lamps which we loved because we don’t like having the main light on!
Wonderful location for everywhere we needed to be: only 15 mins from Dartmoor National Park! And very close to Torquay, Teignmouth and Plymouth which we also explored.
This place was extremely dog friendly and appreciate that there were dog bowls for our little pooch even though we brought our own!
Hosts were perfect and incredibly helpful!
It was well stocked and everything we needed for our trip. Perfect stay, and excited to plan on when we are back! As the cottage is on a main road, it does get noisey at night & mornings. However not the fault of the accommodation at all!
Parking also was a tiny issue, however easily solved by hosts who directed us to the nearest car park which was only a small 4 minute walk away.
Would highly suggest a fan for hot summers, as the loft got hot even with the window open!
- Sudharshana (8/5): Very good -
- Lyons (10/5): Exceptional - Tubs Cottage is lovely. Like a home from home all the furnishings are in keep with the Cottage. A very well equipped kitchen and bedrooms were lovely. Would highly recommend.
- Jessica (9/5): Beautiful period cottage perfect base for exploring Devon - Beautiful 600 year old cottage- which felt very spacious but still very cozy
Well equipped kitchen
Great pub just over the road
Welcome folder with recommendations
Great base for exploring loads of towns in Devon.
Very welcoming for dogs- there is a small yard to let them out but we generally went for nice walks. Watch out for the low ceilings!
Parking was a bit difficult to find at times
One of our guests has variable mobility and the stairs were a bit difficult for her- a sofa bed downstairs (near the toilet) would have been super.
- Tungaa (10/5): a wonderful week in a lovely home - good location, charming place with everything we needed and more nothing
