Guest Reviews
- Johnston (5/5): - Scarborough has some beautiful views , which is why we booked the property . Mews cottage at 1st glance is lovely and very spacious but really needs some fine tuning and updating. It could be a perfect place to stay if it had some money spent on it like new catpets , fresh decor , comfy mattresses on the beds and tvs in the bedrooms . Its the vile musty smell thats really off putting. Location was a bit out of the way and it was abit of a steep walk for us so not ideal for us with asthma and knee problems , on arrival and entering the property we were overwhelmed with the smell of damp or mould , it was a very pungent fusty smell that permiated the whole house and made 3 of us suffer with our asthma , on an evening we felt very cold but the thermostat to control the heating didnt work so we tried using the blanket out of the foot puffe but the fusty mouldy smell was unbearable so it went back in the puffe ! The smell permiated the whole house which brings me to the bedrooms , the mattresses on the beds are not comfortable at all they are very hard , also there are no tvs in the bedrooms which really lets it down, as we like to watch tv in bed before going to sleep. The house needs some updating it has an old person feel about it , very old furniture etc , upstairs smells of stale old perfume and the same fusty smell from downstairs has permiated the furnishings including bedding. The upstairs bathroom is nice but the shower cubicles are quite small and the bath is not quite long enough for adults over 5 feet 4 !! All in all The house desperatley needs a freshen up as it could be perfect if it wasnt for the problems mentioned .
- Simon (10/5): Great location. Clean and comfortable - Comfortable house. Good parking for motorcycles.
Very clean.
- Paul (9/5): Quiet location but handy for shops, station, buses and beach. Plenty of room - Great location, big rooms, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, clear recycling info, manuals provided for appliances, smart TV Bath sheets would have been nice. Bigger showers! Confusion about parking between what was provided in advance and what was stated in guide at property. Departure time is 10 not 9 as stated on Booking.com
- Thomas (8/5): nice place for a big family - very spacious with big rooms and plenty of toilets. very quiet location .
- Phillip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo (9/5): Fantastic house in a great location - There was plenty of room, excellent location ( very quiet at night)Off street parking for 2 cars. Bedrooms were a great size and having 2 shower rooms worked well as there was 6 of us, 2 adults, 4 teenagers and a dog.
We did cook at the cottage as well, and the kitchen is very usable. We also found a lovely little park for our dog to go on at the back of us.
It was a good walk into Scarborough itself, but we knew that so it was fine. There was the tramway to use by the spa which was a bonus, but just check the times it runs.
Would definitely stay here again, and have already recommended someone to stay here.
- Les (9/5): A real home from home, enjoy, we did! - From the parking available (space and garage) to the equipment provided, to the space with in the place, it is great once you find it, but after that from the washer, drier and dish washer hard to think of a missing kitchen tools (loved the ratchet tin opener), there was strong wifi in the property throughout (essential for our daughter), in all an ideal location to explore the surroundings it feels like nit picking as all was so good but the down stair room with the freezer begs to be a bit more as it feels like wasted space (extra bedroom for older people with mobility issues perhaps?), the, down stairs shower cubicle is tight for the bigger person and the operation of the mixer was difficult for temperature regulation, main room light pendant needs screwing back on (I could not reach to do it) but these are small issues and did not detract from a great time we had
