• Irvin (8/5): - The location was excellent. It was easy to control heating which made the house warm and comfortable. Everything we needed for a lovely stay. We would definitely go back. Parking was a bit hit and miss as not designated space but car park 2 minutes away with cheap overnight parking. Although we don't watch a lot of TV when we did want to watch morning TV we struggled to access standard channels.

Ideal location in the town centre on a quiet street - and for the wedding I went to at Runa Farm a couple of miles away. Incredibly comfortable, excellent facilities as described and a lovely thought to have tea, milk and biscuits waiting for me! Louise was a helpful and attentive host and I'd highly recommend Swan Cottage. I really hope I can go back soon and explore more of Barnard Castle. Thank you Louise. Nothing
• Lynne (8/5): - It was warm and cosy and a lovely cottage, everything you needed was there, parking wasnt a problem and you were central to shops, pubs and cafes There was nothing what we didn't like , there was only a little problem we had been out for a walk, and came back to the house to chill and relax, but the next door neighbours had gone out and left a dog which was barking and howling for a few good hours, we felt as if we had to go out again so we didnt have to listen to the dog, would we stay again not sure because of a dog, we just wanted some peace and quiet, as husband hadnt been well, and I know if it not the owners fault if swan cottage

• Bryan (8/5): Lovely cottage to explore the local area at Christmas time! - Great little cottage, with a central location to explore the local area. The cottage was well equipped and such lovely touches of food & drink left for us were much appreciated.

Great communication from the owner will Definitely stay again. Nothing major suggestion maybe have iron and ironing board. Commotion out in the street the first night with women in her car beeping her car horn for an hour and half from 1 am. Nothing to reflect on the property just relationship disagreement by the sounds of it. Saturday night was perfect

The owners were super friendly and even let us check out later than normal which was lovely after a wedding the day before :) Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Barnard Castle!

• Joanna (9/5): - Just lovely. Bang un the centre of Barnard Castle. The cottage was spotless, has everything you could want and is literally minutes away from shops, pubs and food. Parking was easy and there was lots of information about walks, local eateries etc. Nothing but the bathroom is on the ground floor if that makes a difference to you.

• Kentutty (9/5): Swan cottage - Location was great very central to the town everything was within easy walking distance. No washing machine or outside line to dry towels. Also very difficult to get parked outside property. I had to park in car park about 100 meters from the house it was about £11.50 for the hole week which was good value.

It had everything you could have needed during your stay, was exceptionally clean and the decor was wonderful. Location was fabulous for what we needed. On street parking was never a problem. Friendly community. Excellent communication throughout from the owner of the property. Thank you for a truly wonderful stay. A few minor suggestions- A little stool to accompany the bedside table. A dish cloth for wiping down surfaces. A few coffee sachets would have been welcome.

The iron wasn't the best as it left a white powdery trail on my clothes. I was unable to watch Netflix despite being able to sign in (really minor dislikes but worth sharing)

• Lynn (10/5): A wonderful find. - The cottage was spotless, comfortable and cosy. The attention to detail was noticeable as soon as we opened the door. It had everything we needed at hand. The location couldn't have been better for places to eat, shopping and sightseeing. We will definitely be booking again. There was nothing we didn't like.

• Teresa (10/5): Wonderful Stay - We stayed 2 nights at swan cottage whilst visiting relatives locally. The photos don't do this little cottage justice. It is very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The host has even decorated for Christmas as we stayed at the end of December. Kitchen was very well equipped and location of the cottage is excellent. Will definitely stay again. There's nothing not to love!

• Wendy (10/5): A short stop over but very comfortable - Due to a long journey the use of a key safe was essential for ease of access and not be tied to an arrival time which with traffic turned out to be 10pm anyway. It was snowing outside but warm and cosy inside with all we needed for our stay and close to town. The host answered all our questions so we knew exactly what to expect. Good value too. The grandchildren loved the bunk beds. I didn't find anything that could have been better it was perfect.

• Keating (6/5): Pleasant - It's central to the town. You're able to walk five minutes into town. The owners left recommendations in the guest book for places to eat and a list of relevant numbers. The size of the cottage was comfortable. We didn't feel it was condensed and had the right amount of seating and space. When we arrived at half three, the cottage hadn't been cleaned. It felt very disappointing as we'd travelled for around six hours from Devon and really wanted to go in and relax straight away. When we contacted the owner, it was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The cleaning company came over, but we still didn't get into the cottage until six. Considering check-in is three, it added a considerable amount of time onto our journey. We could have stayed inside the cottage while this was sorted but felt this would be awkward for us and the cleaners. After we got in, we still didn't have any hand soap. Unfortunately, the pizza trays we used had to be cleaned first as they were sticky, and the baking tray looked as though its non-stick had gone, and it was flaking off. Also, make sure to bring hangers for clothing if needed as there are only one or two adult size ones, and the rest are wooden children's ones presumably to fit inside the wardrobe. We did receive a polite apology, but we didn't get refunded for anything and still had to be out at regular checkout for 10 am. .

Would have appreciated another set of keys so we could go out independently or not lock the other person in the cottage

• Graham (10/5): Luxurious cottage in Barnard Castle. - A beautifully refurbished property in the centre of Barnard Castle with free street parking outside! This was one of the most tasteful and well equipped properties we have stayed in. Very clear instructions and a welcome pack, and great communication from the owners. It was such a comfortable place to stay and the bonus is everything is close by. Lots of local walks and maps provided along with dvd’s, books and games if the weather is unkind. A pleasure to stay here. The local artisan bakery on the High St. (Rise) has fantastic bread and cakes!

• Sam (10/5): The Perfect Stay - Everything about Swan Cottage was perfect for what I needed. It is easy to find, surrounded by lovely quiet streets despite being close to the centre, and easily accessible with no hassle at all. Inside was spotless and had everything I needed. Whether you are attending a wedding at Runa Farm like I was, which is only 5 mins away, or planning on visiting Barnard Castle then I cannot recommend this lovely home enough.
