- Anna (3/5): Do not recomend! - when we first arrived at the hotel there was no one at the reception. after calling on the bell many times and no one came we ended up having to call them, and only then did someone come to check us in. when we got to the room we noticed that the whole bathroom smelled like sewage, and it did all week. a strong sewage smell in the whole room eventually. the beds are rock hard. feels like you are lying directly on the floor. and the sheet is not attached so we woke up every day with the sheet completely off, and we were lying directly on the mattress. the cleaning ladies did not clean when they came by. the only thing they did was fold our dirty towels and put them on the bed (did not give new ones). they did not take the dishes or the trash. they did not make the bed. they did not wash the floor and they did not give us more toilet paper. one day we ran out of toilet paper and the cleaning ladies had come by, folded the dirty bath towels and put them on the bed. Didn't make the bed or give us more toilet paper. We ended up having to call him at the reception to get toilet paper. He came after 30 minutes. also, one day we came home from the beach to find that the cleaning ladies had taken the sheets off both beds, they hadn't made the bed. but they had folded the dirty towels and put them on the bed. so we had to make the bed ourselves. they play loud music on the beach until late at night. one night i was awake until 5am because they didn't stop playing music. very loud place with thin walls. will never come back to this place. and, the beach is not part of the hotel so you have to pay around 14€ for sunbeds every single day Would not recomend.
- Nicola (7/5): Schöne Lage mit direktem Strandzugang, aber relativ dreckige Zimmer - Tolle Lage und schöner Strand! (Kostenpflichtige Liegen, aber Taverne Gyalos direkt am Strand) Relativ große Zimmer und neues Bad. Sehr veraltet, Flecken an den Wänden und Haare im Bett. Boden war richtig klebrig und schmierig die ersten Tage. Habe den Boden dann selbst mit einem Handtuch und Putzmittel gewischt. Ab Tag 4 wurde 2x gewischt. Flecken im Bad und Sand in den Ecken. Dreckiges Kochgeschirr Duschkabine für einen 1,96cm großen Mann viel zu klein.

- Philip (8/5): Nice holiday in a lovely village - Its location and cleanliness The rooms were smaller than the images and there was no view of anything .. which was a little disappointing. The kitchenette was basic and not really set up to cook a meal. Breakfast and hot drinks ok but that was all. It was tight space for two people for 16 nights.
- Tuula (9/5): September holiday - Location - next to the beach, middle of village, close to cafes & restaurants - was perfect for us. Our room (ground level, basic twin/double) was on the small side but still had everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom was even bigger than expected, with a well functioning shower. The service was also excellent: we had a friendly welcome, and got plenty of help with any questions, transfers to & from the airport, local buses, checkout times etc. Communication was always easy, super quick & friendly! Only thing we missed was a bit more shelf space for clothes etc. as we had to keep our large suitcase stored upright.

- Renata (9/5): sosta tattica di una notte - Abbiamo soggiornato una sola notte prima della partenza, la camera era pulita, il bagno nuovo e dotato di comoda doccia walk-in. La posizione è estremamente comoda, proprio di fronte ad una spiaggia libera e attrezzata, a pochi passi da bar e taverne e con un comodissimo parcheggio. Il gestore è stato molto gentile e ci ha permesso un checkin anticipato rispetto all'orario che avevamo comunicato. il posizionamento del water fa si che ci si trovi una piccola manopola dell'acqua premuta contro la coscia.

- Peter (9/5): Good choice for our first night in Crete this year - Only 35 mins drive from Chania airport, and right in the town centre close to restaurants. We chose this accommodation because it had a wheelchair friendly room on the ground floor and the room met our needs on that score. Easy parking about 50m from our room. Beds a bit hard but OK for one night.

The bathroom in the room was newly renovated and had a wonderful shower. The room is extremely small for three people. We didn't expect such tight quarters. There was not enough room to lay out our luggage or be comfortable. In addition, the beds were extremely hard, making for a difficult night sleep.

- Al (8/5): Perfect for a beach holiday - The location is superb, right next to the beach, plenty of bars restaurants and shops, right on your doorstep. If you’re looking for a beach holiday this is a great place. The beds were very firm. A washing machine would have been an added bonus.

- Renato (8/5): Ottimo per un paio di notti - Il bagno appena rifatto, il parcheggio gratuito attaccato alla struttura. La pensione è in un paesino tipico di mare. La posizione è ottima, dirimpetto alla spiaggia con numerosi chioschetti per spuntini e pranzetti veloci. C'è anche la possibilità di avere ombrelloni e lettini gratuiti se si consuma qualcosa. Taverne e localini tipici a due passi per la cena. Mare molto bello, con spiaggia di sabbia. La camera è molto piccola per passarci più di qualche giorno. Con booking, in realtà non si capisce qual'e' il prezzo reale, è quindi difficile fare una valutazione rapporto qualità/prezzo. A 112 euro a notte al 12 agosto è un buon prezzo, di più diventa cara...

- Anna (10/5): A superb little gem - It’s in an absolutely excellent location, it really is 5 seconds to the beach. Close to all the amenities you could need excellent supermarkets and lovely bars. It was beautifully clean and had all the necessities one could want like a coffee machine and good cooking equipment. Nothing was too much for the host. I had an excellent stay and would definitely go back as well as recommending it to friends.
- Paula (9/5): Lovely apartment in perfect location - I would recommend staying here, reasonably priced appartments in a perfect location, right on the a beautiful beach and close to supermarket , restaurants and shops in the town of Kalyves . Close to bus stop to Chania and taxis .The owner was very helpful , the cleaner came in daily. Mattress was a bit hard , air conditioning did not reach one part of room but can't complain for the price we paid .

Asked for sea view room but as hotel building in front there were no sea views. As we were end room if we stood up we could see sea, sort of.

We believe the hotel and Kalyves relative to other options in Crete & Greece as a whole, represented poor value, it was ridiculously priced everywhere beginning at the hotel right through to food options. Ie. a like for like dinner here in a waterfront restaurant is equal to Chania port which is frankly ridiculous. Two things are vital for a comfortable stay. A quality sleep and good shower. This place could be so much better with a little investment into new mattresses, varying pillow options which don’t feel 20 years old and the water in the shower is too inconsistent.

- Steve (8/5): Overall a good stay in traditional Greek accommodation in an excellent location - Traditional Greek accommodation Great location Friendly staff Clean rooms Slightly dated accommodation No blackout curtains so room very light at night Very small small shower & couple of minor issues ceiling fitting for light half way down light cable, fridge shelf broken & strapped up with masking tape but main one was outer patio door shutter when pulled down was very dirty & stained so didn’t use for fear of dislodging dirt & critters. Sounds a lot of issues but apart from last one others didn’t have a major affect on what was a good stay overall

- Nadia (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel was in a PERFECT location!! Super close to a lot of shops and bakeries (I recommend coffee gram, it was super affordable and only a ~5min walk from the hotel). The beach was literally a 30 second walk from our room. The staff were attentive and caring and always available for any questions we had. The room was spacious, clean, and easy to check in and out of. Can’t recommend this place enough!! I wish we had stayed longer! The only complaint I had was that the wifi was a little slow in our room (we were staying at the room closest to the street).

This room was a 30 second walk from the beautiful beach of Kalyves. Small town with lovely restaurants and enough shops to provide all essentials. Restaurants right on the beach. A little piece of heaven. All good and great value.

- Amy (8/5): Lovely little family run hotel - Really close to the seafront. Walk out and there are bars and restaurants a plenty. No noise at all from them, which was really good. Comfy, clean and cool air conditioned room. We were only there as an overnight stay on our way somewhere. It was perfect for us and a really friendly family run place. Thank you so much. View from balcony was of the car park so that was not so great!

Kitchen equipment is a bit old and not fully stocked. Persistent smell from the sewer pipe.
- Sara (6/5): Great location, friendly staff - The proximity to the beach was phenomenal and the staff at check in & check out was great. They also came and fixed the shower drain as soon as we told them. They also supplied us with more pillows and extra foam mattress for extra comfort for my pregnant belly. There was a nice bottle of cold juice and water In the fridge also! The room we rented was right on the street and we could hear everything from cars and motorcycles driving by and going over the speed bump to people walking on the street having a chat at 1 am. Our neighbours were also quite loud until 11-midnight and we could hear the whole conversations. If you are a light sleeper like me, this is not the best spot.

It was cleaned every day for us & nothing was too much trouble, even for a 3pm checkout! The lovely lady in reception was warm & welcoming. It was close enough to all the amenities we needed in Kalives. Nothing .... it was good value for money

Very clean and tidy Bathroom needs upgrading/maintenance. Lovely upstairs balcony spoiled by the inconsiderate people downstairs smoking and "sharing" their smoke with me

- Aisling (8/5): Relaxing and convenient property - We had a nice time, the property is right beside the beach and also close to the town. A taxi was sent to pick us up from the airport and drop us back at the end of the holiday. Our room was small but suited our needs as we spent most of our time outdoors. Our room was on the ground floor with a small shaded outdoor space to sit out. The room was serviced daily with fresh linen and towels. Would select this property again if we were to return to Kalyves as it is convenient to everything. Noise at night from bikes but not excessive
