• Kris (7/5): - de tuin en omgeving Huisje was erg gehorig, je kon de buren horen praten door de muren heen, badkamer is verouderd, geen koffie/theefaciliteiten op kamer en door de geisoleerde ligging ben je vrijwel genoodzaakt in het prijzige restaurant te eten en te drinken. Het bijbehorende woud met trails werd tijdens ons verblijf met bladblazers onderhouden, wat jammer was voor de serene rust die je verwacht met die mooie tuin en omgeving

• Melissa (9/5): - Me encantó el lugar aunque la calle me da susto pero nos fue bien.. la experiencia como tal estuvo bonita, el personal fue lo mejor... No me gustó que no tuviera en la habitación un Coffee maker, un tv, o incluso un mini refrigerador. La salida a conseguir ciertas que se pueden tener ahí es complicada si esta lloviendo. El hecho de que no haya Internet en las habitaciones lo deberían anunciar en las páginas.

• Minzhe (8/5): Good location and comfortable rooms, but service could be better - The location is immaculate, even though it is hard to reach. The rooms are overall comfortable. The breakfast is good. The quetzal quest tour was pricey and very crowded, but was worthwhile if you don’t mind being it a bit cheesy. We really like the lounge and sipping drinks there. We booked the Paramo tour with the hotel. The tour was rather disappointing and quite expensive for what it was. Due to the bad weather we didn’t see much, and the guide also didn’t explain much about the unique flora or fauna beyond the very obvious. He ended up taking us to a nearby cafe with hummingbird feeders, which we had been to already.
• Patrick (10/5): Wonderful stay in a quite and lovely place - Trogon lodge is located in a very quite and isolated area. You are surrounded by the nature. The garden is beautiful with plenty of plants, flowers and birds. The staff is really taking good care of the clients. Do not miss the restaurant which is preparing excellent food. This place is also must if you are re a bird lover and want to see Quetzals, as some are nesting in this valley.

• Beatrice (7/5): Wunderschöne Lage der Lodge unter mässig guter Führung - + super Frühstück + Betten okay, eher auf der harten Seite, super Bettdecken + wunderschöne Lage mit dem Fluss und den Forellenteichen (Rivendell live) + Bar mit WLAN ohne Konsumationszwang + sauber + Strasse nach San Gerardo de Dota seit 3 Monaten durchgehend geteert + wunderbare Vögel im Lodge Garten - Nach dem Frühstück (endet um 9 Uhr) darf man auch nach Konsumationsende nicht an den Tischen sitzen bleiben oder den tollen Balkon nutzen - Abendessen teuer und Qualität mittelmässig - der Elektroofen schafft es nur mässig, das nicht isolierte Cabin zu heizen, Thermowäsche nötig - Putzpersonal verlegt dauernd seinen Schlüsselbund (könnte von jedem eingesammelt werden) - wenig Privatsphäre in den Cabins Man merkt, dass die Lodge nicht Eigentümer geführt ist, es fehlt überall ein bisschen an Liebe.

• LOPEZ (1/5): PARA NUNCA VOLVER, NO LO RECOMIENDO - Nada en la recepción tienen una mujer que no sabe tratar con cordialidad al cliente. No me gustó que las habitaciones no tenían acceso a Internet , la comida muy cara y MUY mala. El desayuno que ofrecen es una completa burla. Sería bueno que me devuelvan la plata, iba con la intención de disfrutar y relajarme. FUE TODO LO CONTRARIO, no me gustó y salí de ese lugar directo a mi casa, desperdiciando el domingo, me echaron a perder las vacaciones con mi familia.

No wifi in the guest rooms, but that actually ended up being a blessing and helped us to unwind more completely.

• Silvana (10/5): Natur pur mit viel Liebe zum Detail - Die Lage ist sehr schön. Die Zimmer der Lage traditionell und gemütlich mit schöner Aussicht. Für kalte Nächte steht ein Heizlüfter zur Verfügung. Das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Essen im Restaurant darf man sich nicht entgehen lassen. Ein kulinarischer Genuß mit viel Liebe zum Detail angerichtet. Die Betten sind sehr bequem.

• Kerstin (9/5): Gemütlichstes Berghüttenfeeling mit super bequemen Betten und toller Natur. - Die Logde hat eine unvergleichlich tolle Lage direkt im Tal am kleinen Flüsschen mit eigenem Wanderweg und Wasserfall. Die Hütten sind super gemütlich. Die Betten mit den vielen Kissen einfach unschlagbar. Der kleine elektrische Ofen bietet die willkommene Möglichkeit, das Zimmer zu heizen. Der Blick aus dem Fenster ist unschlagbar schön, die Vögel kann man direkt aus dem Bett beobachten. Auf dem Gelände finden sich überall idyllische Sitz- und Liegegelegenheiten, so dass man sich gern dort aufhält. Die Bar ist urgemüglich eingerichtet und hat einen Billardtisch sowie eine Jukebox. Die Cocktails schmecken gut. Das Abendessen im Restaurant war nicht gerade günstig, aber stilvoll und lecker. Besonders zu empfehlen: Die Forelle (die direkt aus dem Teich auf dem Gelände stammt). Wir waren von der um 5 Uhr stattfindenden Quetzal-Tour etwas enttäuscht. Zwar haben wir 3 dieser wunderschönen Vögel beobachten können. Aber bei unter 10 Grad wurden wir für 37 Dollar pro Person lediglich in sehr großer Gruppe vor das Quetzal-Nest gefahren. Dort wurde zwar ein Spektiv aufgebaut, was allerdings für 15 Personen reichen musste. Erst auf Nachfrage gab es Erläuterungen zu dem Vogel. Auf andere Vögel wurde in den zwei kalten Stunden vor Ort nicht hingewiesen, was wir sehr bedauerlich fanden und bei anderen um uns herum stehenden Gruppen anders mitbekamen. Der Guide hat uns weder richtig begrüßt noch sich namentlich vorgestellt. Allerdings wissen wir von Freunden, dass es mit anderen Guides auf der gleichen Tour auch anders geht. Als Tipp für alle: Bringt warme Kleidung mit, da es im Tal sehr kalt sein kann und auch das Restaurant morgens und abends durch den Kamin nicht so wirklich warm wird. Wir wussten das vorher und waren froh über die mitgebrauchte Skiunterwäsche. Auch muss man wissen, dass man das Gepäck vor Ort je nach Lage der Hütte sehr weit und steil bergauf tragen muss. Es lohnt sich daher vorher, eine separate Tasche zu packen und schweren Gepäck ggf. im Auto zu belassen. Aber wann man das weiß, ist alles völlig ok.

Located in a green valley, 2200m above sea level. Lot’s of birds and nice trails. The lodge has a cosy bar. Don’t need a SUV or 4x4, surfaced road is in good condition. High prices in the restaurant. There are better dining options in the valley.

• Ally2017 (9/5): A Serene Retreat - Beautiful gardens with trout ponds, streams, and small waterfalls, this hotel offers a tranquil escape surrounded by birds and nature. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, and our cabin was spacious with comfortable beds. The location is ideal for birdwatchers, just a five-minute drive from quetzal nesting sites. There was no Wi-Fi in the cabin. Considerable climbing was required to reach the cabins—especially Cabin 22. Dinner required a reservation time.
• Jürgen (9/5): Lage gut für Quetzalbeobachtung. - Die Lage in sean Gerardo ist sehr gut. Ein eigener Trail ist vorhanden, was in CR nicht unwichtig ist. Das Haus ist in die Jahre gekommen und ein Investitionsstau ist unverkennbar. Einfachverglasung und undichte Fenster bei sehr niedrigen Nachttemperaturen. Das Essen ist gut aber für dieses Hotel überteuert.

• Britta (10/5): Prachtige locatie - Prachtige ligging , zeer vriendelijk , gezellige kamers , goede douche , lekker ontvijt , goede aangeboden excursies Het diner in het restauranr . Eten was goed maar op 25 minuten waren we binnen , hadden we besteld , voorgerecht en hoofdgerecht gegeten en waren we weer buiten . Zidra ons voorgerecht op was stobd het volgende al op tafel . Het heeft de hele nacht op mijn maag gelegen door de snelheid waarmee je moest eten . Jammer

• GOGIC (9/5): - Parc magnifique, restaurant excellent, cafétéria superbe et ambiance soft, personnel sympa et attentif. L excursion a la recherche du Quetzal est top. Chalet un peu sombre et excentré par rapport au restaurant et cafétéria, point de vue limité, le froid (11 degrés le soir) et la pluie.

• José Daniel (3/5): Alejado de la expectativa, definitivamente no es la mejor opción en esta zona. - Instalaciones agradables, con vista al río y varios jardines, ambiente tranquilo. Muy mala conectividad de servicios en general (internet no entra en las habitaciones, no hay tv), mal manejo del espacio para parqueo, nos costó encontrar un espacio disponible ya que esperamos a que se desocupara, el servicio al cliente en recepción no es el más atento que he visto, acceso difícil a las instalaciones, la ducha no gradúa bien la temperatura, la iluminación de los caminos es demasiado pobre incluso en la entrada al lugar, el desayuno no cumple con la calidad esperada para el costo de la estadía, no me parece que el hotel se clasifique como un 4 estrellas.

• Rogelio (5/5): Naturaleza y paz, pero no es confortable - La naturaleza que rodea la propiedad es preciosa, se respira paz y tranquilidad. En la habitación solo hay camas, el espacio para leer o estar en la habitación es muy limitado, si quería agua caliente para un te, café o algo caliente tenía que bajar muchas gradas para llegar al restaurante o bar. La habitación no sirve el teléfono y no hay internet, por lo que cualquier pregunta había que salir de la habitación. Las habitaciones son módulos de 2, por lo que el corredor es pequeño y compartido, en nuestro caso solo había 1 banca y 2 mecedoras para 5 personas. Sentí que limitan mucho la comodidad de la habitación para forzar al huésped a ir al bar o restaurante. Se podría habitar un espacio para juegos de mesa, ya que el bar es limitado el espacio. El agua caliente del baño era difícil de regular. Cuando se viene de una caminata y estás mojado, querés ir a la habitación a descansar y ponerse ropa seca, pero si se quería un café hay que salir mojarse de nuevo para volver a la habitación.

• Beth (9/5): Lovely place to stay, we enjoyed very much except the pizzas and the tiramisu (do not order!) - Wonderful gardens, clean comfortable rooms and nice staff who were very helpful. We loved the bar area. Lovely Trout dishes. Comfortable beds and lovely linen The pizzas were so small and the Tiramisu looked like someone had diarrhea on my plate and didn’t taste much better either. The staff uniform looked like they worked in a supermarket rather than a high end eco lodge

• Diaz (9/5): Un buen lugar para relajarse. - Es muy lindo, tiene mucha vegetacion y el Rio Savegre se escucha haciendo la estancia relajante. Y las camas son muy cómodas. El bar tiene una decoracion lindisima y se puede hacer senderismo. Le falta un poco de mantenimiento a la madera, las opciones de desayuno son porciones pequeñas aunque se puede comer pan y yogurt, cereal ilimitado.

• Joanne (10/5): Cannot wait to return! Hopefully in December. Keep up the amazing hospitality. - Beautiful rain forest surroundings! The trails were amazing and staff were very helpful getting you started on your stay. The heaters in the room were a nice touch and the hot water bottles were “wow”, loved them at night. Gardens and pathways were pretty with lots of hummingbirds. We will return! The restaurant and bar staff were great too. They work hard to make sure we all have a nice stay:) Parking was a little congested but it was high season so they were very busy. The desk people were able to assist us.

• claude (10/5): Pura vida, endroit unique et super! - L’architecture des chambres et du bâtiment, la piscine et jacuzzi dans un environnements tropical, la qualité de la cuisine Ne pas savoir que : Le déchargement des bagages se fait du côté droit de la route ( réception) PUIS aller mettre la voiture au parking côté gauche. Ensuite c’est plus facile, quelqu’un avec une golf car déposera les bagages dans la chambre

• Nadege (10/5): Bon séjour. - Bon emplacement. Un parc avec un accès rando trail est disponible. À faire vraiment, le sentier est sympa et accès à la cascade. Le personnel est attentionné. Il est appréciable d’avoir le bar, le resto sur place. Repas copieux et petit dej également. Logement propre, avec un chauffage électrique mis à disposition. Une rando pour observer les quetzals / oiseaux est proposée tôt le matin. Wi fi uniquement au bar et restaurant et accueil. Permet la déconnection totale 😉
