Guest Reviews
- Helen (10/5): -
- clifford (9/5): Short stay Chester - The apartment was very very nice one of the best we have stayed in.its slap bang in the middle of the city for shopping etc and a great view of the cathedral behind the property. Received three messages how to enter property with instructions to login into internet all were different and none would connect messaged owners but no reply.
- Jason (9/5): Amazing - The cracked tile in the bathroom
- Aine (6/5): - Decor was fabulous
Location was on point WiFi not working, contacted the property via booking.com , was not resolved. Got offered free late checkout , and bottle of wine.
I had paid for late checkout anyway, and did not get the bottle of wine, as we had to leave by checkout time of 11.30, and nobody met us there.
- Claire (10/5): One of the best Apartments we have ever stayed in! - This property is an absolute gem. I have lived in Chester all my life and did not know it was here. The apartment is wonderfully appointed. Has everything you need and the host is amazing, the copper roll top bath in the bedroom was an extra surprise overlooking the cathedral perfectly located for a romantic getaway or shopping trip, we may be local, but we will definitely be back! Absolutely nothing everything was perfect! Thank you Margaret x
- Martin (9/5): High quality apartment in the city centre. - Excellent location, great value, excellent quality refurbishment.
- Roger (2/5): Simple, I didn't stay, I just paid. - I'm sure the location would have been great Communication from the host(s) was poor. They blamed the booking.com website for their failure to respond to my messages asking questions about my stay and they didnt even acknowledge my complaints regarding their poor communication and the effort I had to go to in order to get answers to my queries. On two seperate occasions prior to the date on which I was due to stay, they changed the apartment that I was booked into (from apt 2 to apt 1 and then to apt 3 without explanation). I was so unconvinced by their poor communication that I booked an alternative hotel and simply lost the money spent on this apartment. Very disappointing experience, particularly given they didn't even accept I had any right to complain about their poor communication, telling me to take it up with booking.com
- Kimberley (10/5): - Stunning accomadation , luxury.
- Hazel (10/5): Excellent stay, easy check in, comfortable, clean and spacious. - Very clean and modern and the location couldn’t be more central. Batteries missing from one tv remote. Everything else 5*
- Oliver (9/5): - Great location in the centre of Chester. Tastefully decorated.
- Peter (10/5): Chester apartments - Beautiful listed building, In the centre of Chester. Easy access to everything Chester has to offer. Needs small amount of maintenance.
- James (10/5): - Fantastic location, amazing apartment, what a pleasure to stay there. Far better than a hotel and we will definitely stay anytime we are heading to Chester Nothing, but be aware as mentioned previously it is right in the middle of town so you will hear the nightlife
- jess (10/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): Just loved it and will definitely be staying again - The property is gorgeous, this is our 2nd time staying in the apartments. The location is perfect This time we had apartment number 3 which is on the 3rd floor. Our honest opinion is we preferred the apartment 1 purely because of the amount of stairs.
- Bill (9/5): Great Location - The location of this property is excellent, with it being on the main thoroughfare. The centre is a hive of activity throughout the day, however street noise is kept to a minimum by the additional internal glazing to the period external windows
Our host Margaret from Boss Places was very helpful and polite and efficient when we contacted her about a minor maintenance issue. Which she thanked us for bringing to her attention.
The apartment is spacious and very comfortable, combining traditional features with modern kitchen facilities.
If you're looking to experience authentic traditional Chester accomodation in the heart of the city, I can highly recommend Eastgate Rows Apartments. The wonderful apartment was only let down in my opinion by a few relatively minor maintenance issues which could be quickly sorted. Namely, a cracked floor tile in the bathroom, dirty front windows a few loose/ broken fixtures and fittings.
However, this comment is for advice only as we had a lovely, comfortable stay in your apartment. Thank you!
- Sophie (8/5): Lovely room. - The room was very spacious and beautiful to look at. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and the street outside was extremely noisy, I understand this can’t be helped but also made it very difficult to sleep, the blinds also didn’t close properly in the main bedroom

- Thomas (9/5): - Stayed for my partners Birthday.Lovely apartment and location right by the Eastgate Clock. We stayed in the top floor apartment on a Thursday so the street below was quiet in the Evening. Beautiful view of Chester Cathedral from bedroom window. Very clean. These apartments all require walking up several flights of stairs but we were made fully aware of this beforehand so it was no issue for us. The apartment was warm and cosy and smelt lovely. My partner enjoyed the copper bath and we were able to cook a meal using the oven and microwave in the apartment.code for entrance and apartment were sent out right on time as notified and was easy to access. All in all a lovely day/evening.many thanks
- philip (8/5): We both enjoyed our stay as it was very central, clean, spacious and comfortable - The location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of the city There was nothing that we didn’t like.
- Hazel (8/5): Very good and we would book again. - It was clean, great location, style, bedroom and copper bath. Good light ambience Musty smelling bathroom with no working extractor ; no tea towel in kitchen; lounge full of flies as balcony door was ajar on arrival. We had to buy fly spray.
- Malcolm (8/5): Lovely apartment great location - Location brilliant, lovely apartment, Fob entry to front door took some sorting out , especially trying to lock on leaving , internet not the best , and never stayed in apartment without a hob , realise plenty of cafes etc , but I like my fried eggs haha , rubbish behaviour,
- Brett (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Felt like a real treat, would highly recommend & will definitely be staying again - Beautiful property, lovely design, had everything we needed, bed was super comfortable and the copper bath was a lovely touch. Fantastic location. There is nothing bad to say, everything was thought about.
- Matthew (9/5): Perfect Stay for Hubby's Birthday - We LOVED the style of the apartment and amazing location, right in the centre! It was immaculately clean and had lovely facilities such as the large copper bath and Molton Brown smellies.
The bed was comfy and huge. We really loved the stay and would highly recommend it and would come back again. The only thing that would improve the stay would have been a couple of milks available for the coffee so you did not have to bring your own for one night.
With the fantastic location unfortunately does mean it was a bit noisy at night with the night life which is completely understandable and expected but if there was a way to insulate the noise a little better would improve it even more so.
- Jenna (8/5): Great flat with a great location - Great location, flat was very well decorated Unfortunately couldn’t shut the blinds properly in the bedroom so had continuous light coming through all night, a few items around the flat were broken and after you had a shower the shower head would now and then spit out water and the way to unlock and lock the door was overly complicated
- Mrinal (6/5): Disappointing given the cost. - The architecture No WiFi ( contacted several times but no solution provided). Very noisy location I.e. street performer played opposite the apartment until midnight. Also, bedroom suffered from a humming noise until midnight which might’ve come from AC unit or some other type of machinery.
- viy777 (10/5): -
- Samantha (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - The location and decor. Nothing
- Faye (10/5): -
- Caleb (1/5): Terrible. - Nothing - our booking was cancelled as we arrived in Chester. Absolutely awful customer service. Received a message from the property as we arrived in Chester saying our room was being cancelled. Still waiting on a refund for wine I purchased for the room. Terrible.
- Ian (9/5): -
- Olivia (10/5): FANTASTIC - The apartment is stunning, very clean.
I stayed in Apartment 3.
The shops are on the doorstep! The apartment location on arrival wasn’t clear.
Location is - middle of the high street, the NatWest bank is on your right hand side, you are then looking for the steps to the apartments. The steps to the apartment are in front of you! (Just in case you are looking for the apartment, as I was for ten minutes, up and down the street with google maps :) )
- Madden (8/5): - apartment was stunning and had a very calm feel to it buskers singing outside till 2.30am.
people ringing our apartment through the night coz they were drunk and couldn't get into their apartments.
a couple walked into our apartment around 11.30pm.shortly after we had arrived home from food.
again drunk and asking me why I was in my own apartment
- Catherine (10/5): Great stay in Chester - Excellent location and beautiful apartment, perfect for our needs, Margaret was very helpful and great with communication. Decor and furnishings were stunning.
- Renato (9/5): wir kommen zurück -
- sara (10/5): - Perfect location and beautiful apartment
- Yun Kong (9/5): - Location is very good. No breakfast. Shampoo and shower gel need to refeel on time.
- Louise (10/5): Beautiful apartment, great location. - The decor, location. Nothing.
- Lee (10/5): -
- kim (7/5): Amazing location and idea - just generally a little tired - Wonderful location, and informative about key collection etc. easy but secure to access. Decorated beautifully, albeit a little tired. Quiet given its location aswell Apartment was a little tired (completely broken/not attached door handle, screws missing from glass topped bedside table, meaning it was wobbly and unsafe (nearly broke a water glass by using it) no hand soap or shower gel and water for bath only ran Luke warm at best (no matter what was tried) all tap knobs were loose and just generally in need of some care going back into it. Thermostat 'stuck on 18-19' so at times a little cool, others too hot. No towels to dry pots, just general lack of attention to detail for a luxury apartment
- Ryan (8/5): -
- Amy (10/5): -
- James (9/5): -
- Rachel (9/5): Exactly as described beautifully decorated great location - Exactly as shown outstanding decor great location. We didn’t not like anything it was fantastic. Can be noisy outside on a Saturday evening as there was a guy in a tent right across from us playing club music very loud
- Steven (10/5): -
- John (10/5): We booked this stay based on the pictures available they do not do it justice the host was always in touch with us we co - Situated right in the centre of Chester a great location, rooms were beautifully decorated . Communication by the hosts were 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit Chester . We would definitely book this apartment again when visiting Thank you Nothing
- Pam (6/5): Pleasant stay - Interior was lovely Too many stairs, only 1 wine glass…second bed, bedding for sofa bed not ready, had to be made.
- Callum (7/5): Overall, I would go again, as it’s a very good location, good price that we paid for it and very nice inside! It has all - The apartment itself was very nice and felt quite luxurious. It’s also in a really good location, which made everything very convenient. The couch in the front room was very comfortable, and the bed was moderately comfortable as well. It was extremely clean with fresh everything, you can tell the cleaner did well! Overall, it was a pleasant place to stay and we enjoyed the property. When we first walked into the apartment, the door handle fell off. I did message the lady who helped us find the property, but didn’t receive a response. That said, it was quite late on a Sunday, so it’s understandable, and she had been lovely and helpful before that. The door handle wasn’t properly fixed, but did lock so we felt abit more assured for the night. Although this did spark a little uncertain safety.
- Samantha (9/5): -
- sarah (10/5): L’endroit romantique par excellence - Tout était parfait !!! L’emplacement au dessus des Rows, l’accès, la rénovation incroyable du bâtiment et les matériaux utilisés sans oublier un charme incroyable .
- Sarah (8/5): Would stay again - Gorgeous interior, fab location Very dusty but I guess that's me being picky. This apartment has the wow factor.
- Lynn (10/5): Perfect apartment in the heart of chester - Fantastic apartment in an ideal location. The apartment is very comfortable and facilities are excellent
- Beverley (10/5): Great stay in the heart of the city. - The location is superb, right in the centre of the city.
The apartment is beautifully laid out and furnished . Views over the beautiful Tudor surroundings and the cathedral at the back.
Very clean, comfortable big bed.
Very spacious. Would definitely return. Loved it all. Tea and coffee available, but we poppped a few doors down to Costa. Very quirky but pub a few doors away.
- laura (8/5): -
- Chloe (9/5): - We loved our stay at Eastgate Rows! The apartment was sizeable, clean, cosy and comfortable, and we couldn't have asked for a better location.
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Maria (10/5): - The apartment was beautiful , well presented and everything we needed. The location was excellent . Good response from owners kept us up to date. Nothing we would definitely stay again.
- joe (3/5): Don’t bother!! - Decadent decor.
Great location
Good mattress Litany of defects
Keysafe broken
Front door handle on the floor in the hall.
No instructions for any appliances, freezing the first night
Tap came off in my hand, had to clean my teeth and wash my hands in the kitchen
The main reason for booking, the copper bath,it was out of order.
The host was rude and failed to respond to requests for repairs.
The room was so noisy I couldn’t sleep,an industrial generator directly outside the window which went on all night
- mary (9/5): Great stay in Eastgate Rows would recommend. - Perfectly located for all attractions, lots of space with great facilities. Host very accessible via chat on Booking.com or phone. Not suitable for people with mobility issues but pre warned about step access.
- Rymondo (9/5): -
- Nicola (7/5): Promised luxury dampened by overlooked housekeeping. - The apartment is beautiful and in a really good location right in the City centre, very spacious and decor made it. Extremely disappointed that there was only 1 wine glass, not ideal when you're staying as a couple and only one of you can have a glass. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty, the shower gel/ shampoo bottles a quarter full, it would have looked and felt more luxurious if these were full for each guest. Unfortunately the plug in the bath tub leaked the water out, it was secured in position but would not hold the water, maybe needed a new washer but this was extremely disappointing as the copper bath tub was the main appeal of booking this apartment. What made matters worse was I received a text message early on in the evening from the apartment management to ask if everything was ok, I let them know about the wine glass and bath plug but received no reply and these problems were not rectified which did dampen the feel of our stay. I notified management again after our stay and only had an apology for this, it maybe would have been hospitable for them to have offered our late check out fee back or a small discount to compensate.
Given the price of the apartment I did feel the late check out fee was greedy as a 10am check out is quite early.
The entrance hall was full of bags of laundry.
- Emma (8/5): Cosy, spacious apartment in the heart of Chester - Great location. Comfortable and very spacious. Lovely and warm with central heating throughout. Fabulous deep copper bath was a real treat. Plenty of towels and extra bedding.
- stuart (10/5): Amazing apartment - The photos really don't do this place justice. This has to be in the top three of places I've ever stayed in, and I've been to hundreds.
The decor was amazing, the location was perfect, I will definitely be back.
- Gary (10/5): -

- Tanguy (10/5): Amazing stay in the centre of Chester - La localisation du logement au centre de Chester
Les équipements Rien, tout nous convenait.
- matthew (2/5): Stylish Location, but Let Down by Cleanliness and Maintenance Issues - The hotel itself was stylish and in a great location. Unfortunately our stay was overshadowed by numerous issues that made the experience very disappointing. On arrival we did not receive any check-in information and had to chase this up, with no response to our messages, meaning we had to call instead. When entering the apartment the door handle came off, and the inside handle also came off when we later left. The heating was not working, and when we reported this we were told they would explain how to fix it manually and that the door handle issue was due to previous guests, which left us feeling that problems would not be properly resolved, so we did not raise further complaints. We later discovered the living room window did not close, causing a constant draft, and there were multiple white stains on the sofa and the blanket provided, meaning we had to place a towel down to sit. We also noticed a plug socket that had food inside it, which was very concerning. During the first night the bathroom sink drained extremely slowly, taking around 10 minutes, and the bedroom blinds did not close at all, which was very uncomfortable. On the second day, when cooking, we found the oven had not been cleaned and still contained leftover food, and the cutlery was also dirty, so we had to clean everything ourselves. Due to the accumulation of these issues, we decided to leave a day early and move to another hotel.

Some street noise but to be expected due to where it is but not a negative. Copper bath was great. Had an iron but no ironing board. Wifi wasn't the best. The shower was luke warm no matter what we did.
