The good ratings here are because owner threatens people to take a fine on their credit card in case they put a bad review... Overall, the hostel offered good value for money during our stay. However, we had a very negative experience when we checked out. The kitchen remains locked until 8 a.m., so we were unable to retrieve our food from the fridge before leaving early. We messaged the hostel to express our disappointment and told them they were free to use the food rather than let it go to waste. After that, the situation escalated unexpectedly. We received messages threatening to charge a fine to our credit card if we left a negative review. When we asked on what basis such a charge could be made, we were also told that our personal information would be shared with other hostels in South America. Because the exchange felt very uncomfortable, I warned others in a Facebook group for French people in Argentina. The owner later joined the group and continued to contact me there. He claimed my post had never existed, even though it had been deleted by an admin due to the heated tone. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hostel. I would advise choosing another place to avoid similar issues.

- Marco (10/5): L'ostello che tutti i viaggiatori vorrebbero - Il nostro soggiorno al Huaka Hostel è stato un'esperienza magnifica. Abbiamo conosciuto due persone fantastiche quali Max e Vale, i ragazzi che lo gestiscono. Riescono a creare un'atmosfera incredibile, si respira serenità e c'è un clima di amicizia. È un ambiente molto tranquillo dove si riesce a riposare bene, Max e Vale fanno giustamente rispettare delle regole sane per il soggiorno di tutti. Le camere sono spaziose e sempre ben pulite, la cucina è fornita di tutto il necessario e molto grande. Il giardino è molto grande e un luogo meraviglioso dove potersi rilassare e godersi le amache. La colazione è compresa nel prezzo, c'è sempre pane fresco con marmellata e caffè. Il Wifi è ottimo per lavorare. Acqua potabile sempre disponibile. Una sera hanno addirittura organizzato un asado a cui hanno partecipato tutti gli ospiti dell'ostello, serata bellissima. Se mai ripassassimo per Cafayate non avremmo dubbi su dove alloggiare. Bravi ragazzi 😃

- Ben (10/5): Best Hostel In The North Of Argentina! - This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. But that's the thing, it's definitely more of a big home. Max and Valeria are so kind, helpful, and generous with their time and energy. The dorms and bathrooms are good. The location is about one block from the centre. Free breakfast is basic but keeps you well fed. The backyard and common areas are fantastic. The chill vibes are perfect. Lots of hammock time. Great place to meet people as well. I continued travelling with two people I met here. Cant recommend it more! The only downside is the 11pm curfew when they close the common areas until 8.30am. I understand why, in terms of noise levels, but 11pm is usually a bit too early. Midnight would be better I think.

- Lexi (9/5): Es un lugar muy lindo y tranquilo con muy buenas ondas; fue una estadía tan buena. - Los dueños del hostal fueron muy amables y serviciales, y en general, increíbles. Nos recibieron con cordialidad, nos proveyeron todo lo que necesitábamos y nos ofrecieron mucha ayuda para navegar el pueblo y las actividades. Solo el baño en la habitación tuvo un problema con la cisterna del inodoro que fue un poco molesto.

It's in middle of town with bodegas in walking distance, very convenient! They tipped us regarding local restaurants: Black Tote & El Hornito, both excellent for grilled steaks. As well as Flor del Valle (famous bakery) & Las Chuecas (cookie shop). We were also invited to the famous parrilla in their backyard. It was delicious & we mixed with other guest from Italy, Spain, Grrmany, Finland & France & had a great time. -

El hostal cuenta con todo lo necesario para una estancia confortable: todas las comodidades, cocina completa y camas cómodas. Aparcamiento cómodo, barbacoa y un hermoso jardín. Todo está impecablemente limpio y ordenado. Cerca hay restaurantes, panaderías, carnicerías, verdulerías y supermercados. - Perle (10/5): - Personnel adorable qui a le cœur sur la main !! Il s'agit d'une vraie auberge avec cuisine à partager et matériel et épices mis à disposition. Le jardin est magnifique. La chambre était spacieuse, propre, ventilo et et radiateur au besoin. SDB propre et fonctionnel. Au coeur de la ville. Ils sont aussi là pour donner des conseils et avis sur les activités du coin. On sent qu'ils aiment ce qu'il font et ça se ressent sur l'expérience vécue. Gracias Max y Vale !! Ras !!

- Didier (10/5): Moment de détente pour nous. - Idéalement placé. L'hostel est bien équipé. Cuisine très fonctionnelle et ordonnée. Les lieux sont propres et très agréables. Le calme règne tout en favorisant les échanges. Jardin où il est très agréable de se détendre. L'équipe toujours disponible et source d'informations précieuses. Nous y avons passé deux nuits. Un super moment pour nous. Rien.

- Edith (9/5): Chilled Vibes and Amazing People - It’s a simple hostel, but it’s been one of our favourites! The atmosphere is relaxed and social, with a lovely garden and hammocks to chill out in. The absolute highlight was the staff – Max and Valeria were incredibly welcoming and friendly. One evening, they treated all the guests to an AMAZING asado, and the steak was absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!! The bed was hard and it felt cold at night.

There is a Peña Dona Argentina just nearby that was also nice in the evening with live music. nothing particular
- Sharinda (10/5): Best hostel - Super friendly owners! Made me feel at home right from the start! They were always around to answer questions or to have a chat. Toghether with other hostel people we had an amazing pizza night, with pizza from the wood oven in the super charming hostel garden.

- Malachy (10/5): Very kind and friendly - I was unfortunately sick during my time staying here, and the staff of the Hostel were really kind to me, regularly checking up on me to see how I was doing and even bringing me medicine. Wish I could have been well to make use of the lovely hostel. The bread at breakfast was also especially fresh and delicious.
- Bennet (10/5): Exceptional - I had an amazing time in Huaka Hostel. The place is quiet, the garden is pretty, the staff is amazing, kitchen well equipped. I would definitely come back and stay longer! Thanks guys for helping me out and giving me a nice home:) they even organised a barbecue with vegan options for us!

- Brian (10/5): A highlight of life - Huaka is one of the best hostels I've ever been to. The staff Max and Vale make you feel like family. The social atmosphere was exceptional. There is an amazing garden to relax in. Everything is very clean, breakfast is lovely, and the kitchen is top notch. I would go back to Cafayate just to stay here. Thanks for the amazing time.

The hostel is located just 2 blocks from the main square we can highly recommend the place to fellow travellers. One of our favourite hostels so far in South America. - Thomas (10/5): THE BEST HOSTEL IN CAFAYATE AND IN ALL OF ARGENTINA - The best thing about this hostel is the attention of Valeria and Max, and the entire team. It's a lovely hostel. It is the best hostel in Cafayate without a doubt. And one of the best hostels in Argentina Beautiful welcome. Beautiful attention. Beautiful room with lockers, cell phone outlets and the bathroom is inside, spectacular. The kitchen is very well equipped, a breakfast with a lot of love, you can cook. The internet is the best. And the place has an incredible patio. You want to have a good time in a hostel: you have to know Huaka everything is perfect in this place. I had booked at another hostel, and because of the comments I changed my decision: it was the best decision!
