Guest Reviews
- Mark (1/5): Please do not stay here!!!! - Absolutely nothing. The damp smell as soon as you walked into the house!! Black mould in the house!!! Heating didn’t work properly!!! Garden was dangerous!!
- june (5/5): In need of some tlc - Location and amenities close to shops bars and visiting relatives Stayed over Christmas week for five days and where to start first impressions the cottage still needs work and love it could be really nice the upstairs smelt and the bedding in the twin was dirty ,I sent the owner a message who said he used a cleaning company to clean and wouldn't be using them again and there was fresh bedding in the bedrooms there was also alot of sweet wrappers and packets under all the beds and some in clear eye sight the twin bedroom had a loose carpet ever time the door was opened we had to pull the carpet back under the door ,down stairs is very small for four people only one very small room to sit in ,I read some of the reviews before booking which said about the very uncomfortable sofas which are still there ,the TV and WiFi worked when it wanted to , the owner did say he would put his netflix on but no point when it doesn't work most the time ,kitchen is again small with one work service in it ,the oven top stove only the oven worked and very slow ,the hobs did not ,the bathroom smells also even after we cleaned it paint is falling off the bath and the toilet has a big hole behind it , the garden has very step steps which the owner has no control over but the hand rail is very loose and found it to dangerous to go up there ,over all I've tried to give an honest review this cottage needs a deep clean and looked after and some spent on it .I no the owner is aware of the problems due to the reviews on here I thought the problems had been resolved when I booked it sadly not !!!!!
- Kayleigh (8/5): Very enjoyable stay. Host was very helpful 😊 - Comfortable and clean Nothing
- Paul (6/5): Booked as it was near to where we had to go and it was good value for money - Very good value for money Longe area was a little cramped
- Sheree13 (7/5): - The heating was on when we arrived, which was nice as it was such a cold weekend. The beds are very comfy, with thick and warm duvets, and the shower was hot. It was very close to local shops and takeaways, they were walking distance within a few metres. There was lots of DVDs to watch. There was washing up liquid, and tea, coffee and sugar which was useful. There was a heater in the sitting area, which was good otherwise it would have been very cold. The wifi was good too. I also made use of the iron and ironing board in the property. I was at a wedding at the church opposite the accommodation so it was extremely well located. The steps to the back garden were extremely narrow and very steep, and the top step was loose, and needs fixing. I would have preferred a proper cooker, there was a small worktop oven and 2 hobs, but it was slow to use, and the separate toaster blew all the fuses, so needs replacing (which was reported and the owner was going to happily deliver another, but it wasn't needed anymore). There wasn't any freeview on the TV to watch the news, it was only good for watch DVDs or logging into my own netflix account. Some clothes storage in the bedrooms would have been useful. The kitchen was presentable but could do with a deep clean, and there needs to be more cutlery available, there was only 2 knife, fork and spoons. The front room with the pool table was never used, it seemed like a wasted space.
- Jamie (10/5): Perfect - The house is lovely clean perfect place to stay and sonny is a great guy 10 out of 10
- Grzegorz (10/5): -
- Karen (6/5): short stay - Being dog friendly, location the sofa was uncomfortable and could have done with another chair in the lounge.
Downstairs layout was very cold. no heater in the lounge.
stairs were dangerous if there was small children staying.
- Francesca (2/5): Will be nice when it’s finished. - It was near an area we wanted to visit.
Hairdryer was available .
Good size large towel (wish there was more than one but ok)
Teabags available (have to bring your own milk)
Blinds were smart , I liked how they moved to be a bit open or closed.
No additional charge for a dog, which is nice. Quite a few things ;
The house smells of damp, it hits you as soon as you enter the property.
Tobacco on the pool table (guessing previous guests were rolling cigarettes on there. Gross)
The water pressure on the shower is abysmal.
The water was not warm enough to have a bath , after a long day of hiking and walking my son really wanted a bath before bed - it was freezing. The water was not coming out of the tap warm enough. Shower gets hot but , isn’t a bath.
Netflix is “available” on the TV but the host doesn’t pay for it , you have to log into your own.
Sofa is tiny and uncomfortable , springs and buttons will poke you in the bum.
The kitchen and the bathroom have a plastic roof so be warned it’s FREEZING in those rooms. They’re also susceptible to condensation.
Found a mouldy apple (?) under the sink - or rather the dog did , absolutely rank.
There was damp in the room in the bedroom “overlooking” the garden, it was visible , it smelt and the carpet was wet and the bedding because of the damp problem. There was also something in the room that smelt like stale smoke.
Door in the living room towards the corridor doesn’t fit in the gap so you can’t close it properly and it lets cold in .
The beds are springy and feel very old.
Single glazing throughout so cold (and also probably costing you a fortune to heat )
Parking to the property isn’t available outside the property (double yellows) you could park outside the shop a little down the road but it does have a sign saying 20 minutes only, so we didn’t want to risk a ticket or clamp. Only car park we could find is over the river which to be fair isn’t too far , but still not expected.
The toilet isn’t finished so you can see a hole where the pipe goes down (also lets in cold)
Lots of patches of paint missing, plaster missing- generally finishings weren’t up to standard.
- brendan (10/5): very good - loved the pool table and table tennis great location. parking wasn't the best but you can find a space 50 meters away
- Nela Cansado (8/5): -
- Catherine (6/5): Electric fire didn’t work. No wifi code. TV was free view. No restaurants around the area. - It was satisfactory. Parking was difficult. We parked in a side street but had to move by 8. Parking was found 5 minutes away at the train station (which was free).
- Vikki (1/5): Horrific!! - Absolutely nothing. This property is falsely advertised as a ‘cottage’ in fact it’s a mid terraced house on a main road. The property was dirty. When we arrived there were about 8 bags of rubbish at the front of the property that hadn’t been cleared away.
The electric box in the hallway was exposed, the games room was tiny compared to the photo that is advertised, some very misleading photos taken!
The floor hadn’t been cleaned from previous guests. The sofa in the living area was painful to sit on, you could feel the wood digging in.
The fireplace isn’t even attached to the wall and there are patches of damp in areas. The tv wouldn’t work as there was no connection.
The kitchen was much the same, rubbish pushed under the units.
All the paint had come off the bath, there was no way any of us were bathing in there, the host had mentioned an hour before arrival that the previous guest had managed to scrape some of the paint off but it was still usable…… definitely not!
The garden area is a shambles and very dangerous, loose astroturf just outside the back door, the steps are so steep to the garden that I told my daughter not to use them, the second to top step was missing too so it was just mud. The handrail was loose too so you couldn’t even hold on to that!
There was a pot of cigarettes outside the back door too…..strange.
There were no curtains in one of the bedrooms so we had to use a blanket to cover the window for our daughter to get dressed.
This property has been advertised as a cottage, it’s most definitely not! The listing states ‘children’s play area’ there isn’t, ‘mini market on site’……there is a shop down the road! I have requested a refund for this property but am yet to hear back from the owner. I wish I was able to add more than 4 photos!!
- simon (10/5): Lovely and Cosy with decent host - Quirky and the games room was a lovely touch Can’t think of anything
- Waqas (6/5): - The property was spotless and had all the nesscity available. The kids kept busy with the games round which was available. The toilet was too small.
- Rhiannon (3/5): Disappointing and potentially unsafe - Property is very dated and requires investment. The photos make the property look a lot better than it actually is.
I would have estimated the shower was at least 30 years old and the temperature and pressure were very intermittent. The temperature would go from freezing cold to boiling hot which is dangerous.
The bath needs replacing before it cracks and someone potentially hurts themselves.
The kitchen facilities were lacking, there wasn't a proper oven and the cutlery was what I could only describe as child like.
The 2nd bedroom didn't have any blinds but seemed ok.
The windows are single pane and need updating.
The bedding in the main bedroom was a teddy bear texture was was far too hot for the middle of summer, we ended up taking the single quilts from the other room.
In our opinion the pool room was a waste a space. Whilst it does create a "point of difference" the space could be better used, especially given the house is means to sleep 5 and there is not enough seating.
There was one 2 / 3 seater sofa in the lounge which faced the kitchen rather than the TV. Very strange set up.
The electrics in the main bedroom are questionable and we are unsure if they are even safe as one plug appeared to be wired to another.
The property has real potential but was a disappointment.
- Tyler (10/5): Night away - Loved how cosy this cottage was, made me and my partner feel so much at home. I've never met host as good as this, I literally felt like I forgot and left half of my belongings here, straight away the host made sure my things were safe and sound. Such a lovely clean place with shops literally next door. Over the moon x There's nothing not to like. Perfect for a couple I'd say if there was more then maybe you'd struggle but we only go as couples so doesn't matter to us xx
- leah (4/5): Not suitable for children or pets. Ok for adults - The table tennis table was great fun. And the fact it was our own private house.
Game room had puzzles, games, dvds and books The garden we couldn't use as it was unsafe. Treacherous steps to get up there. Not suitable for children or dogs. There was an edge they could walk along and then there was a sheer drop.
Says pet friendly but then after booking told us we can't bring our dogs and then it was OK again.
No dining area, we had to eat at the draining board. The bedrooms were so hot. No air-conditioning as it says there was.
The table top oven worked but the stove didn't so we had to cook everything on one baking tray for a family of 5. We did plan to have a bbq, but it wasn't safe for us to go up there.
The pool table stole our money and we couldn't play it.
No where to park. Permit holders only or by the shops that was a 20 minute limit.
- BeeBoysenBond (9/5): Conveniently located, comfy and cosy house - It was easy to find, park and check in. The kitchen was well-equipped, with tea, sugar, washing up liquid, etc. provided. The space was perfect for us and there was plenty of bedding and towels provided. We enjoyed the pool table and table tennis too! Contact through Booking was prompt and very friendly and we loved the lime theme throughout the property 💚 It would have been handy to have a tea towel and hand towel downstairs. The noise from the street was quite noticeable at night when sleeping in the front bedroom.
- sally (5/5): - Lovely and clean, communication with the host very good. Garden inaccessible due to steep dangerous steps, loose handrail. Plus it never went to the top.
The main bigger room turned into a pool room. As a group of 3 adults, unable to sit comfortably on the bed settee, plus TV available to watch if you wanted a crick in your neck.
We couldn't understand why the main room in the house would've been turned into a play room.
Back bedroom no curtains or blinds! Kitchen no blind.
Very noisy could hear next door, main road very noisy.
The main room should be the lounge to host a family nicely. The dinning room should be a dinning room. At least then a family or a group of adults could sit together. As it is now that is not the case.
Beautifuly decorated and clean though just not a suitable layout downstairs. (Only our oppinion)
Outside just dangerous.
