Guest Reviews
- Fernanda Moyano (10/5): Unas vistas soñadas - La vista increible, la ubicacion es mas increible aun! Solo por decir algo, le faltaria un tender para colocar la ropa mojada
- Diane (10/5): -
- Helen (10/5): The best place to stay in Ammoudi Bay! - The most amazing stay in a true white cave style house right in Ammoudi Bay. Incredible sunsets. Place was well furnished and clean. Everything was fantastic, Peggy was a wonderful host and incredibly helpful with everything. Need to be fit to walk the 260+ steps up to Oia but can also ride a donkey or take a taxi! Would definitely visit again if I had the chance!
- Alex (10/5): Incredible! - Such a beautiful space and so comfortable. It was the most scenic experience I ever had and much calmer than Oia but only 15 minutes down the mountain!
- Sofia (7/5): Good -
- Amanda (10/5): Stunning water views lovely clean light white interior next to great restaurants - Stunning location down by water at Ammoudi Bay with little balcony overlooking water all white interior light and bright with views from windows Nothing you do have to walk up and down steps into main part of Oia but we didn’t mind that and then saw that there is a free shuttle bus !
- Kristin (10/5): Perfect - and would recommend highly! - Location was superb (lots of stairs) but well worth it.. Make sure your taxi or driver takes you right down to the port as carrying your luggage up and down 300 odd stairs in the heat would be tiring.
The decor and aesthetics of the house were stunning!
We had dinner booked at Sunsets in Ammoudi (world renowned restaurant) which is right downstairs so it worked out great!
10/10 would recommend! The only thing I could suggest would be a full length mirror.. Perhaps on the back of the bathroom door or upstairs somewhere?
We had a wedding to go to and had nowhere to view our outfits in full length.. Other than that it was absolutely perfect.
- Nicole (7/5): Charming but challenging access - Clean and charming. Lovely views for sunset over ocean. This property was located beneath Oia at the bottom of some 300 steep stairs. Climbing up and down is 15-20 mins of hard work each way. Not for those that are not fit.
- Carlyn (7/5): Good - The accomodations were beautiful and so were the views. Such a quaint spot! It's a really unique apartment. It was not super clear that this location is far off the beaten trail. In fact, you can take a donkey all the way up the mountainside to get to Santorini village. We were happy we booked this at the end of our stay because walking up and down the hill (at least 15 minutes per way) every day was really not a feasible option. That or take a 15 euro uber to get to the town. So we felt a bit isolated. Also, there are only 3 restaurants at the bottom of the hill near the accomdations, so bring snacks!! Or buy some groceries!
- Ryan (10/5): A Unique Experience on the Bay - We really enjoyed our stay at Anelia House in Ammoudi Bay. It’s such a unique experience from staying up in Oia and we loved waking up every day to the boats rocking on the water. Around the corner from the bay is a beach walking distance and underneath the apartment is the famous Sunset restaurant. We never had any issues with noise and the apartment has amazing air conditioning. To get to Oia you do have to take the stairs, so I wouldn’t recommend this property if you have mobility issues. We, however, enjoyed the workout and adventure.
- Yi (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is perfect.
Service staff are very good.
We really enjoyed stay there. no
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - We had such a lovely stay here!
Comfortable and well-equipped apartment right on the water with an amazing view! Great location away from busy Oia but still walkable up the stairs.
- Campo (10/5): Exceptional - PROPERTY: The property itself was gorgeous, well decorated and extremely clean!
VIEWS: Ocean and sunset view were to die for! Most sunset spots in Santorini are packed with tourists but we were able to sit in our room and watch the sun go down. It was truly incredible.
BEACH: There’s a swimming spot just around the corner from the house (walk to the last restaurant on the left hand side and walk through all the rocks). It’s a bit harder to get to for most people staying in Oia so it was relatively quiet and most mornings we were the only people there! The water is so clear and beautiful, just make sure you take your swimming shoes as it’s very rocky.
LOCATION: Ammoudi Bay is beautiful and secluded in comparison to Oia and Fira. To get to Ammoudi, you’ll need to either walk, take a taxi or transfer from Oia (can also take the taxi or transfer from Fira but it will be more expensive).
Walking - although its disclosed as 278 stairs, it’s actually the distance of around 1000 stairs and rather steep. It’s definitely do-able if you have no luggage but expect it to take around 15 minutes. The stairs themselves are uneven and slippery in parts, not to mention the rather pervasive donkey excrement. WARNING: DO NOT take this route if you have luggage. We are young and fit and were told we could walk it with luggage and it was the biggest mistake (there’s no getting off the path once you’re on it).
Taxi / transfer - If you prefer driving, your host or a restaurant will need to organise a taxi or transfer on your behalf (you cannot book it yourself). The transfer from Ammoudi to Oia is 15 euro (not even a 5 minute drive) and our host organised it in a timely manner always!
In summary, our opinion of the best way to get to the house in a cost and time effective way with luggage is getting the bus from the port to Oia and getting a transfer from Oia to Ammoudi. From a location accessibility standpoint, I would rate the property a 5.
- Miranda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eleanor (9/5): absolutely wonderful stay in incredible surroundings. Out of the chaos of Oia, but close enough to enjoy everything - Facilities, Cleanliness, kitchen equipment, style, larger than expected with balcony, views were incredible! we really enjoyed our time here and would 100% come back. The only minor problem was the authentic Greek stairs! At night, to get to the toilet it was a tiny bit dangerous down the steep stairs. That was the only thing.
- Harriet (10/5): Magical little house with beautiful views! - Everything was perfect. Peaceful location a couple of steps from the sea and lovely restaurants, away from crowds but easy to get to Oia if you don’t mind the steps. Beautiful little house! Nothing at all!
