Guest Reviews
- Keith (8/5): Nice clean room and bathroom but very small. - Bathroom very good. Very clean and nicely decorated. Room too small to accommodate suitcases. Needed to ‘decant’ clothing requirements into backpack from the suitcases which had to remain in the car boot. Not happy about doing so because of potential security issues of vehicle in the street.
Bed too short for 6’ male.
Can understand the request for removal of shoes at front door but it is a tad annoying when unloading from vehicle and several trips required.
- Ben (10/5): - Able yo check in our bags early. Local taxi firm, or lack of appearance, despite advanced booking to get us from the train station to the house on Saturday evening, but obviously not the owner's fault.
- Zachary (8/5): -
- Roger (9/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): Very friendly hosts. Always checking if you had enough milk etc. very thoughtful. - Beautiful room, large and clean with a comfy bed. Nothing
- D3bb.71 (10/5): Coldicot Castle music festival - Everything!
We'd like to send a heartfelt 'thank you' to Nicky and Simon for welcoming us to their home. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel instantly at home. The room was tastefully decorated and had everything you need for a short stay (tea, coffee making facilities, a small fridge to keep the milk cold) towels and bathroom/shower items.
We'd also like to say they both went above and beyond duties by dropping off/picking us both up from coldicot castle. If we're ever attending another event that way, we will definitely stay with them both. They were outstanding as hosts ❤️
- tracey (10/5): Definitely recommend lovely clean comfy bed as well - Everything it was perfect very clean Nothing at all
- Carol (9/5): -
- Liam (8/5): Beautiful and affordable accommodation - Room and en-suite was spotlessly clean and ready for arrival. All facilities you could require are available. Hosts non intrusive and allowed us to come and go as we pleased. Overall very happy with stay and location perfect for attending a wedding at Caldicot Castle. One thing to add, from the welcome information kindly provided in the room, we would massively recommend Afon taxis from the list of local companies. Dave was a gentleman and incredibly reliable and affordable for the taxis he provided for us. Nothing at all, room was perfect for requirements
- Elaine (9/5): Superb -

- Robert (10/5): Beautiful room in a beautiful house with brilliant hosts. - Fabulous hosts beautiful home and really nice room with private shower. Nothing to dislike.
- Maleika (10/5): Exceptional - despite our last minute booking due to change of plans the host went out of their way to organise the room. We got to the room after 10 and found it accessible and very comfortable and clean. it was well worth the last minute booking.
- Lizanne (10/5): I loved it. But you do need a car there - It is a very nice and clean place. Room and private bathroom attached. The street is in a very quiet area with few homes around. A very relaxing place. There is great walking just outside the door.
- Coral (6/5): Pleasant - clean and comfortable bed nice shower i think a few biscuits , range of tea and coffee would have resulted in a better score .
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Welcoming and unobtrusive hosts. Recommended. - We asked for a late check-in and were warmly welcomed when we arrived. Once we had arrived we were left to ourselves, which was just as it should be. A lovely house with a stylish, clean and comfortable room for our one-night stay. A quiet location, which made a pleasant change for city types like us. Nothing to dislike or criticise.
- Sylvia (8/5): Lovely little place - Warm welcome, spotless clean and comfy! Had tea and coffee as well. Very nice
- Phillips (10/5): Excellent room near to Chepstow. - Nicky was a friendly lady who answered all my questions promptly before we arrived. The room was very comfortable & spotless with a lovely ensuite shower room. I had forgotten my special teabags & Nicky kindly gave me two boxes of herbal teas to try. nothing
- Carl (9/5): Stayed overnight after attending a concert at Caldicot Castle, about half an hours walk. Great communication from the st - Very clean. Lovely comfortable bed. Towels and shower gel provided.
- Rob (10/5): Fantastic Stopover - Super comfy stopover, beautiful en suite room in a lovely modern house. Nicky made me feel very welcome from the minute I arrived. There was nothing not to like......

- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Consider it was in a house it was wonderful They texted with key code outside...it felt homely
- Jacquie (8/5): Good stay - Location perfect for us. Owners very helpful and pleasant. Our room was a good size and well furnished. Bed very comfortable. Shower room large and well equipped. Everything was spotless. They do not provide breakfast which suited us. For us it was perfect
- Ariane (9/5): Lovely house and close to the M4 - A lovely house in a brand new housing estate very handily located for the M4 and for Caerwent. I really wasn't comfortable as a woman travelling alone that there was no lock on the door. Apart from this it is a very nice place to stay and the hosts were really welcoming and lovely
- Jane (10/5): Wonderful stay in beautiful clean home - Lovely comfortable clean welcoming home with excellent facility.
Nicky and Simon were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were going to a concert at Chepstow Race course and they went out of their way to ensure that we found somewhere to park near the venue.
The room was very well equipped and some lovely touches such as Welsh cakes in the room and a fridge for fresh milk.
We would highly recommend and will definitely stay again. Nothing.
- Brian (9/5): Exactly what we wanted - Clean tidy
- Teodora (10/5): A short but lovely visit to Wales! - Great stay in a lovely new-built area. We had all provisions we needed and the welsh cakes were definitely a nice touch! Nicky and Simon are fantastic hosts - really responsive and always happy to help!
- Stuart (9/5): Superb - Good communication with the host.
- Jelena (1/5): No privacy and verbal abuse - It was clean We were following all the rules of the house and didn't damage the property or do anything to cause inconvenience.
There are no locks on the doors of the room, and the owners make sure to go into the room and check it while you're not there if it's up to their standards, and take pictures.
Our situation with the owners escalated and we had to call the police for our safety, and had to leave before our stay ended. We were also verbally abused by the owners.
The single worst experience of my life.
- Jacquie (9/5): Ideal for us - Location was perfect. Very clean and comfortable room. Lovely hosts. For us, having no breakfast so we could leave early next morning. Nothing
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Patricia (10/5): The house is very clean and quiet. The owners are not intrusive and allow you to come and go as you wish. We had a very - The property is in a quiet location but near to major routes. The facilities within the room are of a good standard. Nothing
- Niki (8/5): Very good - Very friendly welcome. Room very clean with nice decor. Good tea and coffee with complimentary welsh cakes Small fridge was a bit noisy and street light outside window was a bit bright. But these are only minor issues, and not a huge problem for short stays
- Steve (9/5): Quiet location on the banks of the River Severn, good touring base for South Wales and Bristol - A nice modern clean room in a new-build house on a mew estate in the quiet backwater of Sudbrook. Bed very comfy, shower hot and efficient. Would have preferred real soap to shower gel and I had to buy some decaff coffee, but otherwise excellent.
- Wendy (10/5): Nicky and Simon were great hosts and went out of their way to ensure my stay was pleasant. I can highly recommend this p - room good size, lovely large en-suite and good off street parking
- Laura (1/5): No lock on the bedroom door - avoid. - n/a The bedroom does not have a lock on the door. The owners consider this to be perfectly fine as they have CCTV around the inside of the house for security.
This was not put in the description or policies of the property and we did not find this information out until the day of our stay when I asked about a key to our room.
We chose not to stay at this property as we did not feel comfortable at all knowing that our property could be looked through / taken whilst we were out and when we were there we could be walked in on at any given moment. The owners would not give us a refund or even offer a partial refund either so they took our money for absolutely nothing and did not consider our reason for not staying there to be an issue at all.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
