The hotel staff were really helpful and did everything they could to ensure a comfortable stay The rooftop restaurant looks amazing but it's only surface level. The service here was terrible, the drinks and snacks weren't great but the main disappointment was the breakfast they served. It wasn't up to the standard you'd expect for a boutique hotel or the cost of the stay.

Es ideal para quienes quieren una estancia tranquila sin grupos de personas y más exclusiva. Al ser un hotel pequeño de 5 habitaciones, se sacrifican cosas que en un hotel grande tienes como el gimnasio, alberca o el horario del desayuno (empieza a las 8am). Lo que hace que la relación calidad-precio no sea tan buena sobre todo en un país como Egipto.

The toilet area has a semitransparent glass. Excessively intimate…. There are two pathetic waste paper baskets with a light blue plastic bag inside for easy removal . Incredible . Difficult to find in a government hospital or in a 30 euro pension. Throw them away . Now. Service at the restaurant/ breakfast is a comedy . I felt that maybe we were on candid camera. At breakfast we asked for an extra slice of toasted bread. The waiter , a very nice boy just untrained , came holding between his two fingers my slice of bread. I could not believe it.

We zouden om 3 uur moeten kunnen inchecken maar toen we na een lange reis bij het hotel kwamen, was de kamer nog niet klaar. Er werd ons verzocht om even een half uurtje in het restaurant te wachten. We hebben uiteindelijk ruim een uur (op eigen kosten) in het restaurant geluncht en toen wij terugkwamen was de kamer nog niet klaar. We vonden het ook jammer dat de balkon deuren niet open konden. Helaas konden we dus niet genieten van de sfeer op straat vanaf het balkon. Ontbijt was lekker maar wel beperkt. Er was keuze uit oriental of continental.

With the waiter’s permission, we chose to sit in a sunny spot. However, after waiting for 20 minutes, we still hadn’t received our breakfast—not even a glass of water. a staff from the front desk came to our table and asked us to change seats, said that since we were hotel guests, we could give the sunny seats to other guests who might have reservations. I was very surprised by this kind of service from the hotel.

- Amalia (10/5): Charming stay in downtown Cairo - The hotel is located in downtown Cairo, in a very safe area of the city. It has only five suites, making it really special and intimate. We stayed for eight nights and felt pampered the entire week. Every detail was meticulously cared for, from the decor to the services, and the staff was always attentive to any need we had. Breakfast on the rooftop was wonderful, offering both continental and Egyptian options, and everything was delicious. We’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cairo!

The rooms are gorgeous and spotlessly clean; I had the chance to see four of the five rooms, as I stayed there several times (my favorite is room 4). The beds are large and extremely comfortable, and the bathrooms are fantastic, fully equipped with all comforts. At the concierge desk we met Miss Youmna, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and highly professional in handling all our requests. The rooftop is outstanding, with great music and the best food we had in Egypt. In the middle of Downtown Cairo’s chaos, this hotel feels like a refined and peaceful oasis. - Wesley (9/5): Great hotel with little details to work on - Mazeej is a boutique hotel in the true sense. Design is central to this hotel. The rooms are very unique and exceptionally clean. And despite being in buse downtown Cairo, the rooms are quiet compared to other places we stayed in the downtown area. The rooftop restaurant is a really nice environment to have breakfast. There are a few small details that the hotel could improve on: - our room #3 was immediately opposite the lobby. there was some noise during the night when staff were talking or using their phone. the other rooms are further away from the lobby and will have this issue less. - they provide nice toiletries but they forgot to leave moisturiser in our room. An oversight which they acknowledged. - the hairdryer is great but was not compatible with the plugs. Adapters are available from reception, but it’s a little hassle which shouldn’t really be there for a hotel that markets itself at such a high price point.

The Rooftop provides the perfect oasis to enjoy breakfast or an evening meal. Our room was incredible - room three- with every amenity you can need. Above all we were so well taken care of by the wonderful staff who assisted us in detail to make our stay and the rest of our trip and activities incredibly enjoyable. We hope to see them again on our next trip to Cairo.

The room was very comfortable, from the bed to the bath, everything was thoughtfully arranged and well suited. I felt completely relaxed and at ease throughout my stay. However, found breakfast subpar, and there was no dinner service available due to private events. I also found the mini bar prices quite high, five snacks came to around $45, which seemed excessive. Additionally, there was no daily cleaning service, which I would have expected for the price.

Not to any fault of them, the location is on one of the main high streets in Cairo, when you step out of the it’s a little crazy, but as long as you are in their sight the staff there will always look out for you!

The rooftop restaurant was fabulous and a great escape to the hustle and bustle of downtown Cairo after a long day sightseeing. The staff were very friendly, and the gifts in the room were a very nice touch. Thank you again! PS. Much better to stay here in downtown Cairo than in one of the monstrous resorts separating you from real life (in my opinion) :) We organised our sightseeing guide and driver through the hotel, the hotel had quoted us $80usd for the guide and $40usd for the driver and even mentioned the total price knowing there were 2 guests, but only on the day of the activity the staff mentioned the quote for the guide was per person ($160usd total for the guide). This is quite a bit more money, and if you compare to other options it seems expensive. Not a huge deal, but this could have been communicated more clearly. Luckily the guide was very knowledgeable and we have a great day learning about ancient Egypt.

The rooms were very clean and beautifully designed, the roof top terrace offered a fantastic menu and lovely reprieve from the hustle and bustle below. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to those travelling to Cairo. The water pressure in the shower was weak but this did not ruin our stay!

Everything about my stay was exceptional: the stunning interior design, the incredibly comfortable beds, the amazing rooftop, the delicious cuisine, and above all, the wonderful staff who made me feel so welcome. I travel extensively and stay in many hotels around the world, and I can confidently say this place is truly special. The location is fantastic too — just a 5-minute walk to the Egyptian Museum. - Wing (9/5): Meticulous boutique hotel in Cairo - Mazeej Balad is conveniently located in downtown Cairo, with easy access to markets, restaurants and the airport. The hotel has only got 5 rooms but the staff told me that they are in the process of expansion. Nevertheless, the rooms have their unique features and I was lucky enough to stay at the one with bathroom. They paid a lot of attention to details and basically I could just check in with my clothes and passport only (all the toiletries, bathrobes and slippers were provided)! I have to mention that their catering is superb; went there for drinks a few night before check-in, had dinner on the night I stayed as well as breakfast. Their juices are 100% fruits and fresh! As the first boutique hotel in Cairo, they have done a great job! Not much really, perhaps a boost of their hot water system to accommodate the use of bathtub would be ideal.

Every corner is thoughtfully curated, creating an ambiance that is both stylish and immersive. We had both dinner and breakfast on the rooftop, and it was a wonderful experience. Service was absolutely impeccable. We felt genuinely welcomed and taken care of throughout our visit. A special thank you to Omar Ismail, whose kindness and accommodating nature truly stood out, adding a personal touch to the outstanding hospitality. Overall, Mazeej Balad is a perfect blend of aesthetics, great food, and top-tier service. I highly recommend it and would love to visit again! The only small downside was the dangling light next to the bed, which we both accidentally hit our heads on—something to keep in mind!
