Guest Reviews
- Donna (10/5): Large, clean, really comfortable and excellent location 👌 - Wanted to take the beds and duvets with us. So comfortable, good size property, excellent location from town. Thank you
- jane (10/5): Lovely house, clean and everything we needed - It was lovely and clean, large house and everything we needed. Great location, five minutes walk into Morpeth
- Victoria (10/5): A good central place to stay, would definitely book to stay again! - Great size rooms, very clean and cosy. Great location. Host communicated very well. WiFi signal not great but it wasn’t really needed.
- Barbara Sonenthal (10/5): - We had a very relaxing stay at The Hideaway that provided everything you need for a comfortable stay. The property was well appointed to the town centre. The kitchen was fully equipped, the living room and master bedroom were comfortable, and a modern bathroom with bath and shower. The milk, biscuits and tea were a great welcome too and we would highly recommend.
- Debbie (10/5): Lovely property to stay in - Everything needed was there. Very comfortable, all rooms were large. The shower was lovely and powerful. Kitchen facilities are ideal and well catered.
The property is only 5 to 10 minutes walk into town along the river walk.
Parking is tight, but we didn't have any issues once we worked out how best to approach and leave.
Mark communicated well during our stay, even messaged when the property was ready, giving an early check-in. Nothing to dislike.
- Sharon (8/5): - Spacious house in quiet location just over river from Morpeth town centre. Comfortably furnished with all necessary mod cons. Easy walk into town and road access to rest of Northumberland. Easy contact with hosts. Didn't realise garden was across path from front door. Parking nearby was a bit tight, as expected for the area.
- Lisa (8/5): Comfortable, nicely presented and well-equipped home within easy walking distance of Morpeth town - Communications were good, and instructions clear on check-in and access to the property. The home was nicely presented, had everything we needed, and we really appreciated the welcome goodies. A secure, renovated terraced home, spotlessly clean and convenient, being within walking distance of Morpeth town. While road parking was always available, it was tight and shared access to and from the home can be a bit restricted at times within the vicinity of the property.
- Antony (10/5): A great place to stay for exploring Northumberland - Having stayed before we knew what to expect and were not disappointed. Nothing to dislike! Parking is tight and side streets are narrow, but I had no problems parking my large Audi A6 right outside.
- Heather (10/5): Fabulous place, home from home; stay again in a heart beat. - Stayed in this property many times, it is perfect for us; close to shops and good walks for the dog with the river and park very close by. It is warm, has comfy beds and a good well equipped kitchen where everything works as it should and on demand hot water. Morpeth is a great area to use as a base to explore all of the area.
Mark is always very responsive if you need to contact him. Nothing.
- Mary (8/5): We only used the property for sleeping and breakfast of which was perfect - We could have had up to date brochures of whete to go and suggestions of where to eat
- Glenn (8/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable. - Nice and clean, homely and easy access to town centre. Had what we needed for a short family stay. Internal ( upstairs ) and external doors/ gate need some attention. Door hinges upstairs very squeaky and could do with a squirt of WD40- external rear door and outside gate were sticking a fair bit. Both could end up being broken if they aren’t eased?
- Leonie (9/5): what we needed and would book again - very well decorated - good kitchen utensils - comfy chairs - quiet but convenient location parking was interesting at times but not a problem
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Little (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable clean and close to town.. Parking...
Sometimes had trouble parking beside property..
- Alice (9/5): Superb - Great for families, good communication with owner.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - It was clean, comfortable,.a great shower and had everything we needed and the location was excellent with the town within walking distance. A nice touch was the.milk and biscuits on arrival and tea and coffee in the cupboards., welcome after a long drive.. We will certainly be back Nothing
- Melissa (9/5): Superb -
- Lydia (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, well furnished and comfortable. Nothing.
- Bea (9/5): Quiet and comfortable - Quiet location, very clean and comfortable. Comfy beds, good shower A little tricky to find in the dark
- Rebecca (10/5): Great location at a great price - Great location, 2 doubles and a single, separate diner and living room
Had everything we needed for a short stay and was great value Others have mentioned parking - we managed to park our car sometimes and then at the end of the road other times. Not a biggy - for loading etc the road is quiet and residential so you can always do that then park on the end and walk on. We travelled with two kids too and didn’t find it an issue
- Michelle (10/5): Excellent value for money - Excellent value for money and customer sevice eExcellent above and beyond Nothing
- Bethan (8/5): Very good - Neighbours were a little noisy - but it was ok. We know that just happens from time to time. Otherwise brilliant stay!
- Chmiller (9/5): Superb - Loved how big the property was for the money, decor, furniture and kitchen facilities. Parking was a bit tight and only one toilet but that's just being picky.
- Benjamin (10/5): The reviews are true.... it's superb and worth staying if you are going to the area. - The house was lovely and well equipped. Great location, so close the town, parking was easy, neighbours were friendly and we had everything you needed. We were welcomed with free milk and biscuits and flexibility for late check out without charge. Beds were comfortable and rooms were a good size. I would recommend and plan to stay here again Not really a dislike but we would have appreciated an out of reach door lock for the front door
- Paul (9/5): A spacious and clean property, ideally situated for exploring Morpeth and the wider area. - Well maintained and comfortable property, equipped with everything we needed, situated in a quiet location, minutes from the centre of Morpeth. We especially appreciated the milk and biscuits available for us on arrival! Parking is in the street on a first come first served basis. Not an issue with us and we got parked with little fuss but might be a factor for anyone with mobility issues.
- Susan (10/5): First class spacious house very close to the centre of Morpeth - The house was really spacious and in a quiet residential area. The facilities were great. Everything was clean and clutter free. Parking can be a bit tight, but we always got a space close to the house. The towels were a bit small.
There was no first aid kit when I needed a plaster.
- Joanne (10/5): Great stay , would highly recommend . Host was really helpful and responded quickly to messages. - Good central location within easy reach to Morpeth town centre and train station. All good, just needed a mirror in the small bedroom
- Anne (9/5): Superb - Warm cosy spacious. Well equipped kitchen etc. Good water pressure Seems quiet area.
If weather had been drier nice outside space to sit in at front
Location good for centre 10mins walk to this and Carlisle park
Host good at communicating answeing questions. Helpful.
Relatively easy to find using sat nav.
If your not driving local eateries pubs and shops nearby morrisons lidl . Buses ok but on wintertime table can be few and far between so make sure you check.
Cragside hall very good but access can be tricky for some of grounds areas. Warkworth lovely for meander as is alnmouth alnwick some good pubs cafes but opening times can vary in smaller villages
- Audrey (10/5): Brilliant place, location, totally superb - Everything! Perfect place as far as location accessible for our needs absolutely first class Nothing. Everything was marvellous
- Richard (10/5): A very comfortable stay, had all you need and great location locally and further afield day trips - Very spacious property and had everything you needed to cater for yourself and cleaning, situated in a very quiet location but not too far from the main town to walk to. Needs kitchen towels (made do with paper towels supplied) and finding location to park was a bit tricky and restricted by the road layout, but once worked out was OK
- Alison (9/5): Superb - Very well equipped. This was our base for our daughter's wedding. We had family staying, hairdresser's and photographers visiting, the bride leaving and extended family round for meals. Loved walking into Morpeth, being near the river. Kitchen tap needs tightening. Washing line would be useful. Very small things.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb - Perfect location
- Aqsa (7/5): Really nice and comfortable weekend - Property was spacious , clean with all amenities required . The parking can be an issue as we have a big 4x4 and the lanes are very narrow and risk of car damage if other cars try to go past .
- Jayne (7/5): Very enjoyable highly recommended - Spotlessly clean
Had just about everything we needed Would have been nice to have some garden toys for the children
No egg cups
- Helen (10/5): Great for visiting friends. - The house was clean and looked freshly decorated. It was also well equipped for the time we were actually in the house. Garden was a little overgrown, but we didn't use it. We ate out most days, really close to several pubs and restaurants. Good position for shopping with the local town providing a variety of shops. We found it a bit difficult to find at first, but soon found our way around.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay. Clean, great location for town and station. Thank you for the milk and shortbread on arrival. We will be back!
- Martin (9/5): Would recommend, Morpeth is a nice place and has lots to offer. - Great location and comfy. Great night sleep and quiet. Lots of space for a rental. Well equipped. Host was responsive.
Morpeth is a lovely place, great park, scenic and some really good restaurants and places to drink and eat. TV wouldn’t work properly, terrestrial channels kept going off. Problem with aerial.
Some mould around the bath was off putting.
- Linda (10/5): Lovely and relaxed - Not far to walk into main centre of Morpeth but peaceful location. Fresh milk and cookies on arrival was a nice surprise
- June (5/5): Would not recommend to others. - Location good and property comforable.
x No information on appliances. Not enough glasses and cups for the expected amount of people. Short on cooking utensils. No welcome pack. Lack of information about the area and no public transport timetables. Seal on bath needs attention. No keys for windows which was unfortunate as it was a hot week. Pan drawer hit the door of the washer when opening/shutting. No chocolates as mentioned on booking form.
Please note that if this was our first experience of Host and Stay it would be our last. Very disappointing!
We would appreciate a reply from the owners.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (9/5): Superb - Perfect location to walk into Morpeth. Don't be put off by small roads around Hideaway there is plenty of parking nearby.
Small enclosed lawn perfect to let dogs into first & last thing. Very comfortable beds.
- Heather (9/5): Enjoyed a lovely stay at the warm and homely property; everything worked correctly. Looking forward to staying again soo - Warm and homely, everything we needed for our weekend. Able to park at rear of property without any problems. Five minute walk to Morrisons to stock up on food. Field at top of bank or Carlisle park to exercise dog or lovely walk. Morpeth is an historic market town on the doorstep of the Northumbrian coast with beautiful beaches. Blackout blinds or curtains in the bedrooms would be appreciated in the summer months.
Cushions on dining chairs prevent ability to be able to sit and get legs under the table.
- Dave (9/5): Superb - Great house for visiting Morpeth and the surrounding area, well appointed and a really comfortable property.
- Paulin (10/5): Clean, comfortable and cosy in a great location. -
- Assimina (7/5): Generally we had a good time and the tv had a lot of choices like Netflix which was good . Thank you Mark but try to fix - The property was in good position but not very good road for parking The central heating wasn’t very good we had to get up in the morning to put the thermostat up and 2 radiators weren’t working with the rest of the house.
One bedroom and the dining room. We had to ring the owner to tell them everyday and then the radiator on both rooms were on.
- Wendy (9/5): Really relaxing stay in lovely cottage had everything you could need. - Excellent location only 10 min walk in to Morpath.
- Pauline (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): Morpeth is a lovely town, and the house was close to the river and the shops - we enjoyed our break - The bathroom was excellent, very modern. The lounge was a good size, very comfy sofas and a large TV, plus a coffee table; the dining room had a large table and sideboard, the kitchen was small, but very well equipped, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, cooker, hob and microwave, toaster, all in very good condition. The bedrooms were a good size with wardrobes in one of them, there were 2 large bedrooms and 1 single one An information pack would have been really helpful, including places to go and where to eat. The courtyard area at the front would benefit from sprucing up a bit
- Edge (10/5): Brilliant weekend retreat to visit family - Property was lovely and clean. Nice and warm. Excellent Nothing
- Louisa (9/5): Superb - Lovely and spacious house. Really nice spot in the town (about 5-10 mins from centre and same to supermarket). Lovely to have efficient heating and good TV for evenings in. Generally good cooking facilities We couldn't quite get our knees under the dining table. Could have done with baking trays . These are picky things though!
- Pete (9/5): New Year in Morpeth - Fabulous location, only a few minutes walk into the town centre
Comfy beds
Well equipped home
Prompt replies from the owner Mark. Can't think of anything
- Katharine (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, more spacious than I expected (no fish-eyes here!), beautifully situated near the river with great town centre within easy walking distance. Our host was welcoming and clearly cares about and looks after the property very well. We visited with our dog and the setup was perfect for keeping everything clean even in winter conditions thanks to the back yard and tiled kitchen. . We found it great from beginning to end. Thank you.
- Jackie (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (10/5): Amazing weekend away - Location was perfect, right in the centre. Was very quiet neighbourhood and had all the facilities you needed. Very clean and lovely touch of shortbread, milk, tea bags and sugar. Also it’s great having the likes of simple salt and pepper in the cupboard.
Hosts were great answered any questions within minutes. Also communicated how to work the heating and getting into the property.
Shower was very powerful.
Bed was very comfy and great having the thick duvet on the bed.
Great that it was dog friendly and had the secure court yard area for him. So many good walks round the area too.
Would highly recommend staying here. We loved Morpeth (great pubs) too so definitely will be back and would stay here again. Morpeth is always a very very dog friendly with majority of shops and pubs allowing dogs in. Never been to such a dog friendly town before.
Thank you
- Jane (10/5): The hideaway - Fabulous house and location
- David (9/5): Great Location with easy access to all amenities and a gate way to Northumberland - Location was excellent, just a few minutes walk into the town center Parking wasn't great, but we did always managed to get parked, but not always close to the property
- Debbie (10/5): Great little find - Cleanliness size location decor helpful owner All great
- Mark (10/5): Great location. Comfortable, clean property. - The house was stylishly decorated, well equipped ,comfortable and clean.
Great location to Morpeth and surrounding areas.
Good communication with owner The parking was a little tight but always managed to get a place.
- Gordon (9/5): Most enjoyable experience - Great interaction with the host prior to arrival, as we experienced a flight delay. Nice range of supplies to welcome us - i.e. fresh milk, shortbread biscuits. Good range of kitchen utensils and cookware, although we did not take advantage of all. Clear instructions on how to vacate the property. Thank you Mark The property matched our expectations. We don't have any negative comments
- Wendy (9/5): Hidden Gem. - Lovely comfortable cottage. Walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants. Cottage had everything you needed for a relaxing stay. Bathroom is beautifully decorated. Bedrooms had great storage. Really comfortable beds. Roads around the cottage felt narrow, but you could get past another car with care. (We have a larger sized car). We still managed to park right outside the property. There was plenty of free street parking nearby where the roads are larger.
- Darrin (10/5): We could relax. - It is a quiet and cosy place in a very nice surrounding.
- Morven (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Very stylishly furnished home with really comfortable beds. Very central location - Very central location - just 10 mins walk to the shops and restaurants. Parking is on a very narrow street - fortunately we had a small car. Wifi was great. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen well equipped, tea coffee and milk provided. Owner was very communicative and helpful. Very stylishly furnished. Nothing to dislike and everything to like.
- Ethan (10/5): Exceptional - It was very comfortable, good quality furnishings. Good communication with host. Location great. Personal preference would have liked blinds on the bathroom window and outdoor seating.
- Margaret (10/5): A lovely comfortable home within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Lots to see nearby. - Loved everything! Accommodation clean, tastefully furnished and decorated and beds very comfortable. The teabags, coffee and milk was a nice surprise as was the prosecco and shortbread! Parking so close to the house was a great advantage. Can walk into town easily. Nothing really but perhaps a window blind in the kitchen would be good.
- Gail (6/5): Need to be made aware no parking & detached garden, but has yard Feather quilts & pillows on beds - Pillows & quilts were feather no good at all for asthmatic allergy sufferer
Back yard needed tidying & sweeping up & new screening
Front garden is not attached to house it’s over a communal pathway no good for staying small children & dogs
No parking it’s all very narrow alleyways
Noisy neighbours facing ..loud music till gone past 11 & kids kicking football every evening
Hit dining room window hard more than 3 times
- David (10/5): great - very near the town and very comfortable
- David (10/5): THE HIDEAWAY - Spacious, comfortable and well furnished house. Very quiet location but only minutes walk to town and park. Mark was excellent at communicating and accommodating with our specific needs. Would definitely return. Nothing!
I
- G (9/5): Superb -
- Lana (9/5): Had a great stay here and recommend as an ideal base for Morpeth and Northumberland 👍 - Modern, clean, spacious and well equipped ..great location for accessing Morpeth by foot only tiny negative was the parking, which if you have a large car is a little tricky as very narrow streets
- Brenda (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Hannah (8/5): Clean, comfortable and a short walking distance to the town centre. - The location was perfect for us as we were able to walk into town and to my parents within minutes plus the neighbourhood was quiet.
- Kenneth (10/5): Great experience - The house is excellent - comfortable and spacious and reqlly tastefully furnished and decorated.
- Jalilah (10/5): Exceptional - I really loved how clean and homely the place was. It was my families first time staying and they loved it! There isn’t any bad things I could say but the only issue was of the key safe was specifically said it was in the back it just would’ve made life easier and I was searching for it round the front. But other than that I bloody loved it!
- Mohammed (10/5): Fatastic place to stay in Morpeth - This is a lovely terraced houise very close to the yown centre. Very picturesque walk along the river to the centre of town. The house was immaculate and has been refurbished to a high standard. The hosts left us tea, coffee and even fresh milk in the fridge! They also left us dishwasher tablets, detergent and cleaning supplies. The house is very spacious with two double beds and a single bed. We would highly recommed this to anyone considering staying in Morpeth . none
