Guest Reviews
- Vai (7/5): Good - Really enjoyed this trip. Especially around the house with lots of things for kids to do.
- Tania (2/5): Disappointing Experience with Unhelpful Hosts - The location was okay, the beach nearby is small and the tide was high the times we went down in the morning and afternoon. We were quite disappointed with the hosts. After we checked out, they attempted to charge my account for a damage deposit, something that was never mentioned in our prior conversations. I would have been happy to settle any outstanding fees had it been communicated clearly during our numerous discussions about payment and travel arrangements. Instead, they waited until after our departure to claim damages for supposed dog prints on the sheets—without any proof—and attempted to charge my card multiple times. When I reached out to clarify, the owners were rude and dismissive, with no clear communication except for the repeated payment attempts. Booking.com confirmed that they had no right to charge us post-checkout. This unfortunate experience left a sour note on our trip, and we won’t be returning. Good hosts make all the difference, and we’ve had wonderful experiences elsewhere in the past.
- Louisa (9/5): Overall a beautiful family home, with lots of space and good facilities. Dog friendly (which we really appreciate) and g - Lovely location. Really peaceful. Plenty of parking. Lovely garden and patio area. Inside was spacious and comfortable. We were three adults and a small dog and had plenty of room to move about and separate double bedrooms. Plenty of kitchen equipment and instructions on how to use, which was a nice touch. Milk in the fridge on arrival which was great. There is also a really well stocked convenience store nearby. Location of nearest beach was great. I also saw my first red squirrel in the garden which was fantastic! If I was being really picky, the outside paintwork on the house was a little tired and there were lots of fallen rotting apples in the garden, so we had to watch the dog for wasps. Handbook says local restaurant 15 minute walk but more like 25-30 minutes and getting a cab proved impossible, even with several hours notice.
- Catherine (10/5): A perfect family holiday home, with fabulous outdoor space. - Fabulous outdoor space, exceptional fit out, clean and comfortable. Black out blinds in the upstairs rooms for the kids! Nothing!
- Nicholas (10/5): Ideal stay in a great location. - Spacious, comfortable, well appointed and great location. Plenty of space for 8 adults.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay at The Barckens! Comfortable, well-equipped and clean! Thank you! ⁹
- Amanda (8/5): Very good - Location Poor sound quality on tv ?internet connection
Not enough hot water for 5 of us in the morning to shower.
- Rebecca (10/5): Perfect property by the sea - Fantastic location - a stroll to the beach and then a lovely garden to spend the late afternoon in. Great kitchen to cook and dine in with friends Personal choice - my bed mattress was very hard. Other rooms had soft mattresses. Some.people may like a hard bed - I don't and unfortunately none of.my friends do either
- Laura (8/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable stay - can’t wait to go back! - Stunning property, very comfortable and so close to Seagrove Bay which my dog absolutely loved. There was no hairdryer and could possibly have benefited from some coat hooks in the hallway.
- William (9/5): Lovely holiday home in a great location - Lovely well equipped house in a great location.
Very comfortable home from home with everything we needed to ensure we could relax and enjoy some much needed family time.
Fantastic location - just a short stroll to the beautiful Seagrove Bay Unfortunately the boiler stopped working and we had no hot water on the Friday before we left. The property manager came to have a look just as we were going out and tried to alter the pressure and advised us to leave it a while and let her know if it didn't work. We were going out for a few hours and unfortunately on our return there was still no hot water.
We felt that a gas engineer should have been asked to check the boiler straight away.
- Shamal (6/5): Excellent location and great place to stay in a group - The Brackens Beach house was very welcoming and homely. The house itself was very spacious and we had plenty of space for our stay. There were lots of nice little touches like the games and books (although we wished we had time to play and read these).
Unfortunately, there were a few issues like having no pillows in one bedroom so we had to look around and find some in a cupboard.
There were quite a few spiders around.
We arrived on the first day quite late to check in as we wanted to make the most of the day and the good weather. So it was dark when we arrived, we found it a bit of a challenge to find the property in the dark as there were no lights on. Perhaps a small light on the brackens sign would've been helpful to locate the property at night.
However, unfortunately the biggest problem for us was the hot water issue. There was no hot water for some people who went to shower last. We were not aware the hot water was on a timer which would have been helpful to know before our stay.
The team were good at responding to my emails and this was rectified by the hot water boost. So make sure to use this if you are going to be showering late at night.
There is also no shower gel or shampoo so please bring your own and there is no microwave.
- Lin (9/5): Absolutely fabulous home with every convenience catered for - The house was really home from home for us with everything we needed. Really liked the decor and all the personal touches around the house. I left with serious shower envy as the water pressure was fantastic. For the first three days we did have a large tree being cut down right outside the property so it wasn't exactly relaxing listening to chainsaws first thing in the morning but it was not the fault of the property, just unfortunate timing. We couldn't find a little handbook for the house with local knowledge of recommended restaurants etc as that would have been useful. I know everyone has smartphones these days but actual personal reviews of places to visit would have been nice.
- Lewis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - The location was down a quiet lane. It was peaceful and quiet. A short walk downhill leads to a beach from which you can walk to Seaview. The house has everything you could possibly need. The layout works well if you take more family or friends. There is plenty of space. Loved the seating in the back garden. Watched red squirrels visit every morning. Nothing.
- Karen (10/5): Wonderful house - We had a wonderful stay at The Brackens, we were lucky to have good weather, so we enjoyed the beautiful garden and short stroll to the beach. The house was lovely with lots of home comforts, very clean with lovely furnishings. Seaview is a lovely little seaside village and we had nice meals at The Old Fort and The Crab and Lobster. The Seabrew coffee stand on the beach sells great coffee and cakes.
We made lots of great memories and definitely recommend both the house and location.
- Nithin (8/5): Good - Over all the cottage is nice. In a perfect location, spacious. Good for family stays. First of all absolutely gutted without a microwave. It was our mistake that we haven't checked it before booking and that's b'cos we didn't think that there is a kitchen in the UK without a microwave.
Second I don't think that anyone stayed in that cottage for ages now. There is a kettle and a toaster but it was full of crust, and the barbecue even same. There was full of dust and spider webs inside the cottage. The front and back gardens are not at all maintained.
It is a cosy cottage if it's maintained well. And it will be great if there provide some toiletries or kitchen tems like soap, sugar, tea bags , salt etc.
- Ryan (10/5): very relaxed, great views and beach literally a 10 min dawdle down the road, curated spaces always had someone on the ot - the property was modern, spacious and very comfotable nothing!
