Guest Reviews
- Tony (8/5): Friendly welcome, nothing to much trouble. - All meet our expectations
- Graham (8/5): Very good - A nice country pub and good large rooms.Dont get room 1 next to kitchen. We were room 4.
Good restaurant and food menu with outside seating area. The hotel is inclusive of breakfast. When we went to breakfast they said the cook was sick so no cooked breakfast and we went elsewhere. We should have asked for a 20 pound refund.
In other reviews this has also happened.
As we were the only ones staying there it is obvious that they didn't bring the chef in for cost purposes.
Not a good strategy and let's them down big time.
- Hannah (8/5): Fabulous landlady - Great location and really friendly welcoming staff Nothing
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely stay - Good range of pub food, lovely garden and great views. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were so helpful.
There was a bath and a good sized shower in the bathroom. It was quite remote and difficult to find as there was no low sign from the direction we came from.
- John (10/5): Lovely local pub. - local pub sell great beer.super staff, lovely locals.nice pub food. nothing really if pub food is what you are expecting with a warm welcome and great service and beer.
- Graham (8/5): Great quiet location, smashing people, good food. - I have never met such a lovely bunch of people. There were quite a lot of different people who served us and everyone was pleasant and helpful. The food was good and reasonably priced and freshly cooked. Everyone was made to feel welcome by staff and locals alike. The bed had feather/down quilt and pillows and very comfortable. There were one or two minor points which could be improved on but if we were in Somerset again we would definitely stay here. There were just a few things that I thought were missing. A breakfast menu on the table, the condiments needed replenishing daily and the jam and marmalade selection would be better if they were on each table. These are just minor points but what I would expect from any B&B
- Stephen (10/5): Would rather be here than a Travel Lodge! - Very large room (almost like a mini suite) with a private outside space. Big bathroom and lovely walk in shower. The narrow country lanes getting to the Farmers Arms!
- Aneurin (8/5): Quiet out of the way retreat. - Very large room. Quiet with rooms some distance from the bar area in the same building. Access to the rear of the building from our room through a door onto decking. Not easy to find down narrow lanes but that does mean a quiet area.
- Anonymous (10/5): Travelling for work and being away from home is miserable, this place brightened up my day immensely 😍 - Friendly, very homely, lovely welcoming staff. Very quiet location as well. Nothing
- Peter (1/5): Bad -
- Christine (5/5): Passable - Location, food good Wasn't 4 star, more like a 2/3 star, room wasn't served, cobs webs, smelt terrible of dog, needed a clean, carpet wasn't hoovered, not great
- Rod (8/5): Recommended, definitely worth a look. - Friendly and welcoming staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Accommodation. Evening meal and breakfast. Noisy room next door from 5pm onwards.
- David (10/5): Great place great people - Really nice place
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frances (2/5): Disappointed - I did not stay after seeing room The whole place outside and in. Smells and beds and blankets looking marked
- Steven (7/5): Tranquility - Peace and tranquil with good food and lovely staff N/A
- James (8/5): The staff made us feel really welcome - The friendly staff who went out of their way to help.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -

- Alison (7/5): Friendly place, room needs some attention. - Friendly and nice rural location Room was massive, which I loved but it had a damp smell. The French windows were hard to lock and open .
- Peter (8/5): Great value, nice room, friendly service - Nice friendly pub in a lovely quiet location
- Julia (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional - Welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Really relaxing stay, felt just like a second home for the night. The food was excellent, everything from the available choice to the quality of the cooked breakfast, with the pies being to die for (or to live for 😀). We really enjoyed our stay and would without hesitation book again in the future.
- Nichola (10/5): Great stop off to cornwall - Beautiful gem of a pub with great food, accommodation and staff at a decent price.

- Anonymous (9/5): Excellent would stay again if in the area - The breakfast was superb the evening meal was even better and a good choice of menu the owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and the rest of the staff were really friendly. The restaurant to stay open later than 18.30 or to tell you when you book (but to give them a huge thumbs up they stayed open for us )the bar to stay open later and for there to be toiletries for the bath or when you book to tell you to bring your own.
- Dianne (10/5): Exceptional -

- Stuart (10/5): Relaxed and welcoming rural getaway. - A family-owned, quirky, relaxed, rural pub - proper Somerset - with a good garden. Staff were very friendly. Room was quiet and very large with a good bed and a spacious bathroom. Dinner and breakfast were both good. Excellent location for walking on the Blackdown Hills and we would definitely return. A menu for breakfast would have been helpful otherwise nothing to find fault with!
- Barrie (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay and dog friendly - Landlady and staff great.the locals were friendly Nothing
- Suzanne (10/5): It was a short but lovely stay at the Farmers Arms. - It was a great location, unfortunately we only stayed for one night as we were on route further into Devon. The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would love to return for a longer stay.
- Martin (10/5): Wonderful country pub - Wonderful country pub
- Miriam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Damien (10/5): Completely recommend this great place as a stay destination!! - the food is great pub food. The breakfast is big and super tasty - we loved it on the two occasions we had it. I had a steak mead for dinner one night and it was one of the best steaks I've had for many years! The atmosphere is brilliant, cosy even though the pub get busy in the evenings. Having the dogs in there made my wife very happy indeed. We had trouble finding the place - it's in a tiny village and the sign-posting to the pub was poor so we had troubling locating it down some very small roads and laneways. So sign posting could be improved.
- Phillip (4/5): Disappointing -
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely country pub very welcoming Absolutely nothing great stsy
- Neil (6/5): Pleasant -
- Grace (9/5): Great stay on our way down to Cornwall - Everything was excellent Dog poo in the beer garden

Parking
Overall a decent one night stopover.
- Bill (8/5): Worked perfectly for me. Zero hassle and most enjoyable. - This is the ideal out-of-town country venue with friendly staff, good grub, a good vibe and real value-for-money. If you don't really fancy the city centre hotel style, this is a good choice.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Whole experience excellent
- Malcolm (7/5): Holiday stopover - The breakfast and the bar meal were very good.
Staff very friendly The room was a little tired and could do with a bit of TLC, however the bed was comfortable and the shower was good
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (10/5): Lovely traditional country pub, super-friendly staff. - Generous. Friendly chef. Liked everything.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Excellent - Beautiful room. The bed and pillows were exceptionally good. Huge towels. Bath and a walk-in shower were very good.
The staff were lovely . The evening meal was excellent and the food was piping hot with lots of veg. There was a faint smell of cigarette smoke in our room. But it was probably from guests smoking outside
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Derek (9/5): Superb -
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Susan (9/5): Lovely place for a short break. - Lovely warm welcome . Quirky but spacious room. Great food , ale and wine. Generous portions! Lovely breakfast. Corridors to access the room untidy - a shame as this was the first impression .

- Tim (10/5): A very comfortable stay in a lovely rural setting - Very comfortable bed. Good size room and good shower. Staff were very friendly and attentive and dealt with our family lunch for 18 of different generations with ease. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Sunday lunch clearly very popular as they had 120 booked the day after we were there. People come by car on foot by bike and they can even cope with people arriving on horseback
- John (9/5): Very enjoyable two-night stay - Very quiet location along single track roads but worth it. Breakfast was very good and dinners were superb - as were all the staff who were very friendly and helpful. Lovely big bedroom and very large bathroom but as bathroom was two large steps down it would definitely benefit from a small handrail, especially in the middle of the night! Would’ve liked a menu for breakfast. Everything else was absolutely fine.
- Gill (7/5): Good - Excellent for dogs . Nice building and bar and welcoming staff Very poor breakfast and owner’s dogs barked in the night
- Gaynor (5/5): Great potential…. - Great location, nice country pub atmosphere. Food was very good, generous portions. Accommodation was very tired and need of a good clean.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoff (10/5): Farmers Arms 10/10 - I don’t really know where to start so I’ll just keep it brief, a colleague and I stayed at the Farmers Arms for a week, the staff, the rooms, the food, the fire, the Guinness were all fantastic, would I stay there again? YES with no hesitation.
- Richard (10/5): I'll be back - At the end of a very long, tiring day, the friendly greeting, hospitality and kind consideration of the hosts is just what was needed. Large comfortable room. Crisp clean bedding. Quiet countryside location. I didnt arrive in time for dinner but the freshly cooked breakfast was very nice. nothing
- David (9/5): Superb - Everything great. The landlady and landlord were great, staff great the pub had a good local feel. Food was so tasty. Lamb shank OMG. Room was so comfy, clean, warm. A real credit. Real log fire, Sport and Guinness was lush.
Well done all at the farmers arms. DL. It was a great night nothing to complain about really.
- Catherine (10/5): Visiting family in the area - Very comfortable, food and staff fantastic, lovely local inn, all the local customers went out there way to be friendly

The staff were very nice and accommodating we had to have breakfast earlier than stated and they were very happy to help with this the breakfast was very nice. There was nothing to dislike
- Tre (10/5): Lovely traditional British pub stay. Perfect! - Lovely traditional English country pub. Very clean and lovely spacious room. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming. As we were arriving late they called to see if we’d like a roast dinner (Sunday stay) saved! And it was delicious. Great breakfast too. The best bit after our long drive was a drink on the sofa by the log fire. Couldn’t recommend enough! We will definitely be back, but for 2 nights this time. Nothing.
- Connor (10/5): Excellent. - Me and my partner spent the night here and it was fantastic. On arrival the staff were incredibly welcoming (but not overbearing) and the bar has a very welcoming feel with some great locals!
The room was really cozy, warm with an amazing deep bath! Perfect stay for people wanting to visit the area would absolutely go again.
- Virginia (8/5): Very good over night stay, close to The Mount, Somerset. - Very welcoming and helpful staff, big room, lovely laundered cotton bedlinen, comfy bed, large bathroom with excellent shower. Very good breakfast, top coffee. It could have been a bit smarter, but that's not a criticism as they more than made up for that with the welcome and the room.

- Christine (8/5): The staff are the stars of the show. - Lovely staff and a very peaceful location. Very good choice of food and beer from the wood. The room was a bit of a mish mash as regards the furniture and rather tired looking. Also, not the one we selected on booking.com, but we didn’t complain as it was fine for one night. Very comfortable bed with nice bed linen and towels. We would stay there again, but perhaps make sure we had our choice of room.
