• Donna (5/5): Great location, 3 star accommodation at best. - Great location, not too far to walk into the centre although it’s pitch black near to the property after dark! Lovely historical building from the outside. Nice and quiet. Very dated, fridge was losing rust on the floor, bedroom small, no comfy seating in our room to relax on an evening, kitchen utensils and necessary items very sparse, not even any washing up liquid! I know it’s self catering but all places we’ve stayed at before provide the basics at least for a 2 night stay!

It was in a lovely location and Rita was lovely. Not sure really. It was small but good for us. Heated and even the bathroom floor was heated. I dont think I could point out anything really.

• Kalie-Dee (7/5): Great for a short stay to sleep in to make travelling to our places shorter. - Lovely location. Very sweet host who provided detailed information before our arrival. Loads of info within the folder on places to go, services etc. Loved that it encompassed some older day items like the bed warming pan and fireplace. Large courtyard with outdoor seating, and nice grassed area around too. Living room was cosy although the sofa was very small. 2 arm chairs also in the property and a good sized dining table with chairs. Cleanliness not up to standard. Lots of spider webs. Shower door had soap scum along the bottom, bed had a used tissue under the mattress sheet and so on. Thin walls mean you can hear neighbours upstairs/next door moving around. Pull down beds were squeaky. Nothing that can be done about this but if you're a light sleeper it is likely to disturb you.

Beautiful village, everything we needed on our doorstep step. Slight maintenance tasks. I had to flush toilet, sink and shower drain to eliminate the stench from bathroom drainage in one lodge we’d booked.

• Melanie (9/5): Had a lovely stay here, great building and wonderful scenery, we would definitely come back and recommend. - What a wonderful building, loved the old decor in there. Very clean, easy to find and fab location to Masham’s town square and all other amenities in the area. Only issue we had was the double bed was extremely uncomfortable and turning over in bed or even just sitting on it, it was terribly squeaky, it needs replacing.

• Roger (4/5): Accomodation was appalling and we wouldn't want to stay at your accomodation like that again. - Location was ok, not far to walk into the village We were in a self catering accomodation. Bathroom and all the facilities were down stairs and the bedroom was upstairs and for 2 80 year old people having to get up several times iduting to night was s little disturbing. For the use of the bathroom was ok but now windows that opened and only a hot air fan instead of an extractor fan wasn't very nice especially as the bathroom door opened straight into the kitchen and the shower was not an accessible one as we had to climb into the bath before putting in and no safety mat to put into the bath to stand on. The main room has furniture in it that was worn out and covered up by throws, so we hat else would you like to know? I think a £1000 for 5 nights is a little too much I think. We await to hear your thoughts after maybe a visit. Many thanks Ann Woolsey. See above I think.

• Claire (6/5): Disappointing inside, lovely outside. - The building looks nice from the outside, there's a lovely shared garden space & it's in a beautiful area. The window in the single bedroom didn't open so it was very stuffy. The decor in the whole apartment was very dated. There were cobwebs, a smushed spider & decorators tape round the window in the double bedroom. Thr kitchen is small and very basic.

• Amy (10/5): Perfect - We had such an amazing stay at Bellfield Country Suites (Suite 8). From the moment we arrived, it felt so warm, welcoming, and homely — the perfect spot for our family. Everything was clean, comfortable, and so thoughtfully set up, which made a huge difference, especially with a 12-week-old. Our older kids also had a brilliant time, and we felt so relaxed throughout our stay. I noticed some reviews mention it being outdated, but I couldn’t disagree more. It has a lovely traditional, old-style charm which we really loved — it adds character and makes it feel even more special. To us, it was perfect. Rita has clearly put so much care into Bellfield, and it shows. We can’t recommend it highly enough and would love to come back again in the future. There was nothing not to like.

Beautiful grounds .Bed was so comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. There was nothing I didn't like , but if they could do 1 thing a hand rail on the wall to hold as you stepped in / out the bath would be nice .
• Phil (8/5): Gorgeous house if you can get past the dated decor. - The house is amazing, full of character and elegance, and in a great position, with ample parking. It's very quiet, and has fantastic views. It's just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Masham, and a quick 2 minutes cut through the allotments if you're visiting the Black Sheep Brewery. Our suite had all amenities, including fast WiFi, was clean, and warm, with plenty of instant hot water, the bathroom immaculate, and the bed really comfy. The only thing that lets it down is the very dated decor and furniture in the suite itself. And I mean 80's dated style, not Edwardian or Victorian. 😄 Wood chip, flowery tiles, cheap pine, broken fire surround etc, and nothing tied together. It could look amazing with a bit of money and thought. It didn't particularly bother us, but I'd love to get my hands on it to give it some love.

• Kosylo (4/5): Disappointing - Location was great. Apartment very tired, with old furniture and bedding. In desperate need of an upgrade. There are no beds as such .. the mattresses are on a built up plinth with steps either side. Very difficult to get into. The bedding was clean but very old. The wardrobe was on the stairs and very dangerous as you had to perch on the top step to open the door. Health and safety issue. Toaster did not work properly. The information book in the apartment was very grubby and vastly out of date.

• Janette (8/5): Lovely getaway - The location was perfect as we were visiting the Masham Steam Rally which was a five minute walk away from the Bellfield, our apartment was lovely and in keeping with the beautiful house. Good private parking too The checkout was a little early 9:30 to 10 where most now are 11am to 12 noon
• Anne (7/5): Lovely room but not suitable for anyone with mobility problems - The room was comfortable and clean. There was everything you could need for a short stay. My husband had to sleep on a settee as the bed was on a mezzanine level with a low banister round it. As he has Parkinson’s he tends to wander in the night and I was concerned for his safety

Bathroom kitchen and bedding were clean You could see sheep in the pasture in front of the property Very dated property....the accumulated tiredness of carpets and furniture that were there from the late seventies, probably. • Lenka (4/5): Disappointing - Good and peaceful location. Walking distance to town centre.Comfy beds. We were in Suite 3. Very dark and damp smelling. View of grassy hill and courtyard despite being listed as having a good view. Cobwebs hanging from ceiling, dead spiders everywhere including inside the fridge. Towels smelled like they hadn't been washed properly. Hot water didn't work despite following all the instructions provided. Dishes and cutlery were greasy and dirty. Entrance was difficult to find even with "detailed" instructions in the message due to poor description and signage. We didn't take our dog with us due to "Pets are not allowed" policy, but on arrival we saw guests from other suites with dogs.

• Andreas (5/5): An ok accomodation as a base to explore the surrounding countryside (which is beautiful). - Location was good; the apartment itself was a fever dream for 70ies enthusiasts but the bathroom was nice and rather newly remade with underfloor heating. Some of the kitchen accessories were also new and in good working order. The beds' mattresses were very (!) comfortable. There was a washing machine and a dryer In an outside building. As our apartment was semi-basement (presumably the former staff quarters) there was a lingering odor of humidity inside and it was generally chilly. The kitchen was old and sparsely equipped. The heating system was old and difficult to use (there were no explanations for the usage) and took a long time to start up eventually.

• Ben (9/5): Charming character with all the elements to make an ideal rural retreat to explore the area from - Idyllic building and location, our suite retained all it's period charm whilst offering full function with it's facilities and was a very comfortable stay for our outdoors mini break. The quiet and private location was still only a short walk to all the local village facilites, inlcuding pubs and shops, making this an ideal rural retreat to explore the area from.

• Megan (10/5): Perfect place for a get away. - Lovely country house. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds and kitchen and living room equipped with everything you would need for a weekend break. Ideal location for walking into Masham no more than a 10 minute walk.

• David (3/5): Misleading information which spoiled the stay. - I have one issue with this property - on the booking.com website it states that no pets are allowed. One guest had a dog. Within the information book it states "It would be grateful if dog owners would not leave their dogs in the apartments on their own". The entry on the booking.com site is misleading. Those people with allergies may find this difficult. It needs sorting. I booked this believing it was pet free. It was not. As above.
• Hilary (7/5): A good location. Comfortable but a little dated. - Location for what we wanted to do was very good. Village was easily accessible. Newly refurbished bathroom was very nice. Wasn't expecting the mezzanine floor bedroom. Kitchen "roof" was a bit of a sefety issue- sharp corners at head height.

• Craig (7/5): Understanding the property being old, but I would like to have seen the inside a little cleaner. - Lovely location and splendid property. Very comfortable nights sleep and the suite had everything you need for a long stay. We stayed in suite 6 and the shower was very poor.
• Roxanne (8/5): Loved Bellfield Country Suites - Rita kept us well informed with key information. Great location, just outside Masham square. Close to local shops, cafes/restaurants/pubs- all within walking distance. The house has great character and suited all of our needs. Great views all round. The apartment was as expected as the photos show exactly what it is like. Two toilets and a powerful electric shower. Added bonus of board games and jigsaws which the kids loved. Lovely big windows to sit at and watch the sheep in the field! Thankyou Rita for a warm yorkshire welcome and stay. Nothing to dislike- it could do with a little TLC, loose cupboard/door handles but understand the age of the house.
• Julia (9/5): Great value quirky little place in a stunning setting. - Fabulous location in walking distance of village, shops and pubs with a co-op only 5 minutes walk away. We had suite 4, which we liked as it overlooked a courtyard that had full sun. The bedroom was a gallery affair which we loved, and the house is in lovely gardens. We felt relaxed from the moment we got there, really quiet and peaceful, cosy and homely. Iron, ironing board and washers and a dryer available in laundry. Highly recommend a visit to all the pubs but White Bear was in a beautiful setting with a short cut through allotments. Would love to come back in Autumn. The Druids temple and woodlands are a short drive Way and worth a visit, as well as Hawes and the Wensleydale cheese place. Nothing major, as some reviews have pointed out some fixtures and fittings are a bit dated but in good working order and functional, and the price of the accommodation reflected what was on offer. Others have commented on cleanliness, but our suite was immaculate. The stairs and split level of bedroom may be challenging if any mobility issues but we were fine.

• Kieran (4/5): Disappointing - Not much The room was very dated the fridge had rust on the outside of it, in general the rooms was mucky with a lot of damp in the bedroom resulting in the bottoms of the wall crumbling onto the floor of the bedroom, doesn’t look like it had been hoovered in months, the waste pipe for the toilet was stuffed with toilet paper to fill the gaps, the shower sounded like a plane was taking of in the bathroom, there was hair everywhere in the bathrooms and living areas, only good thing was the location

• Louise (4/5): Disappointing - Location The cobwebs! The place needs some TLC, it didn't look like it had had any attention for a long time. The bedroom had a hole in the wall covered by a coaster and parcel tape, as well as crumbling plaster being held up by the wallpaper and damp patches. Not all beds were made up, but we did find spare bedding in a cupboard.

Could do with some washing up liquid for pots as only there for 2 nights so had not brought anything like this. Apart from this small point everything else was fine.
• Brenda (6/5): Beautiful Building needs uplifting in some areas. - The building was beautiful and in great position. The lounge was comfortable but there was old food under the dining table. The kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. The freezer door in fridge is broken, the cooker was very greasy. When we went to get glasses down we had to wash them all. A lot of the plates were dirty and we had to wash them. It could do with some more cutlery there is only 2 large forks and one small one. It all felt very tired and neglected in there. The bathroom is fine except you leave a hairdryer there but there is nowhere you can plug it in and see in a mirror to do your hair.

• Catherine (7/5): Great base to explore from - Great location on edge of village. Off street parking, privacy. Room was old and interesting. Needed a better heater due to high ceilings.
• Christine (6/5): Nice house in Masham but could be better - Lovely house in good position for Masham. Nice grounds. A few things require attention. Shower very noisy (electric) quite worrying. Could be cleaner. Steps to apartment slippy with moss.

• Gail (7/5): The three days was enough wouldn’t want to stay any longer - Location, Outdated furniture very uncomfortable in living room, single bed very uncomfortable very hard, bedside lamp single room needs replacing, shower needs attention due to constant air lock, kitchen taps leaking from base.
