Guest Reviews
- Carol (7/5): - Very close to the beach and amenities. Lovely walks close by Nice site
- David (5/5): - The staff where nice it was cheap Shower grouting was worn and mouldy.
Noisy location but was cheap wouldn't recommend as a family stay mabe a stag/hen doo but late music from surrounding pub
If I go back I'd use a static not one of these
- Debbie (8/5): - Location ,facilities
Friendly helpful staff Steps up to the apartment ,I struggled as I have arthritis.
Missing a few home comforts .
Updated furniture ,better heating and WiFi, bigger TV with dvd .
Although beds were really comfy
Ok
- Lukasz (9/5): -
- Kathleen (7/5): -
- Heffren (7/5): - Good location Very basic amenities
- Mike (10/5): -
- Timothy (8/5): Enjoyed my self comfort sleep - Close to most things high like Could have done with a lick of paint and some new curtains
- Wickham (8/5): - It was clean and tidy the staff were very helpful and polite They gave us an upgrade which was good but the van was to close to the road and every time a bus or lorry went by the whole van shook but apart from that all good
- Jamie (10/5): - Everything...chapel was just opening up so didn't expect much..always enjoy a break here..the caravans at merryfields are top notch..n staff a fantastic
- Joanne Butler (10/5): -
- Brenda (3/5): Expected better - Good size nice bedding Steep Stairs. Bedroom Windows have large gaps all around and let in the outside noise so could not sleep. Shower cubicle very mouldy
- Tracy (10/5): Very nice and beautiful caravan and location - Very nice location Not sure on how to check in when reception was closed i think i should have had a email to explain
- Julie (2/5): WHAT YOU SEE IS NOT WHAT YOU GET - Very good location The advertisement showed a chalet / apartment with seating outside . What we infact got was a flat , with 20 steps . I am disabled . Absolutely disgusted with booking . Com . Not once in the advert was 20 steps mentioned . Or photoed … Never book with booking . Com . What you see is NOT WHAT YOU GET .
- Barrie (10/5): Great - Location facilities staff
- Kevin (9/5): - Convenient.
Was surprised what good value food was at local long beach road. Plenty of amusement arcades for the kids.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Very good value for money very clean Cannot complain about anything apart from weather 🤣
- Gary (5/5): Wouldn’t go back - Very spacious The smell from the bathroom was disgusting which they knew about because the cleaning lady told them
about it cooker was dirty and the quilt cover had mud stains on it so didn’t use. The landing had dog ends on the floor and hadn’t seen a hoover or broom very dirty
- joanne (7/5): good value for money - great location, nice warm apartment, pub right opposite the apartment very noisy until at least 3am, but i think it was the pubs end of season party.
- Meacham (9/5): Good location and facilities. Good price short break - Friendly welcome and easy check in.
Good location.
We were meant to be staying in one of the apartments but were moved into a new caravan instead.
This was probably better. Caravan was immaculate.
- Lisa (7/5): Good - We were self catering so ate out. Location good The take away below gave off an awful smell
- Lisa (7/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Casey (8/5): Great quality for a budget holiday! - The location is local to just about everything you'd want on a good Holiday.
You're a 5-10 minute walk from clear sandy beaches that arent overcrowded or obstructed.
There's places to go out and eat within a walk or bus travel, and probably a hundred or so locations to order in from (90% of them are chippys).
A Co-Op (Today's Local) supermarket is within a 5 minute walk, alongside a hardware store / gift shop.
The Holiday Apartments are ideal for partners or 4-person families, with Freeview TV on comfy furniture and a spacious kitchen. Just be warned the Fridge/Freezer is very small. Dont pack more than 2-3 days of meals in there.
To travel around, the [1] Skegness and [1] Chapel St Leonards stop right outside Golden Palm resort.
Skegness is a neat little town with just about every store and supermarket you can think of (including a large number of counterfeit / knockoff markets, be sure to avoid those).
There are 3 Amusment parks within an hour's travel, but they're only open on weekends! Dont make my mistake and try and visit Pleasure Beach on a Monday.
There's probably 30-40 different Arcade Halls, some with bingo. Most of them require change, but some use Arcade Cards you need to purchase and top-up. Avoid the VR Machines, they're kinda defective and can spontaneously have problems. Ever tried flying a plane sideways? Please dont try that ;-;
Be sure to stop by Marina Fish and Chips in Chapel St Leonards. If it wasnt for one of the workers there, we'd never have found our Holiday Home! The Booking.Com website information is not accurate to the location & apartment conditions. However, I've spoken to the Merryfield & Sandfield team and they are in the process of updating the information.
The shower has apparently been replaced twice and is still finnicky. Beware the shower randomly going from pleasant warmth to arctic ocean. It may also only work on one setting... sometimes.
The Toaster does not fit crumpets, a travesty upon our British lineage. (This isnt much of a problem, you can toast them in the oven :D )
Also, if you're like me and didn't quite plan your travel correctly, there is next to no indication to go to The Smuggler's Inn (who appear to be part of the Merrfield & Sandfield Team) to retrieve your keys & pay the deposit when outside of reception hours.
- Skinner (9/5): - Cleanliness, spacious and safe. The wrong direction to the apartment was given by the lady at the reception, it was Negative and wrongly directions,However, great value for money!.....
- kahina (10/5): -
- Ginageorge (10/5): -
- Mark (7/5): - Close to the beach Lack off directions email could have been better also we phoned the number given to us on the email and no answer was not happy
- laura (7/5): Lovely place, only one complaint. - The location was excellent. We were visiting family and it was the next street along. The beach is extremely close aswell as various shops and entertainment. Excellent location if you have children. The apartment was lovely except the bathroom. The bathroom in the property really let it down. It was quite mouldy and bugs crawled out of the skirting board. We informed when we left and were told they were due to be sorted in coming weeks.
- Martin (6/5): -
- stephen (3/5): - Close to town centre
- Daniel (7/5): Spider-Man fancy club - Close to the beach, just before entering, bath with shower, garden space for barbecue. All important tools to survive for family, everything working and clean.... besides spiders everywhere Home of spiders! Killed at least 20 first night and another 10-15 for every next couple of days. Better to have own knife and wood cutting tray( glass tray available but murder to cut something on it), it will help when home cooking... yeah not really to complain... just some pets with few legs everywhere...
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goozee (9/5): For what we paid was excellent - It was clean and well equipped The steps leading to it, wasn’t aware was first floor
And having to make beds and stripe them
- Mcnulty (9/5): Classic British holiday. - One of the few remaining classic holiday homes still left. It was clean, tidy and full of character. Great area, friendly atmosphere. The only thing we could think of is the WiFi was a bit a faff. But we were not there to go on our phones all the time. So it didn’t bother us much.
- Gration (9/5): Enjoyed it -
- Mobeen (8/5): Amazing - Lovely and Cosy and perfect location close to the beach A bit small
- Samantha (8/5): Very good -
- Molly (9/5): Perfect stay - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The caravan was in a great location, short walking distance to everything you could need. The bathroom was a little bit grubby, but not enough to matter at all!
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb - Caravan was very comfortable and located conveniently for both the beach & public transportation Nothing - I stayed i the same caravan in June 2024 & wanted to repeat the experiance this year - was blessed with good weather too!
- Richard (8/5): Great few days away with my wife, weather was fantastic and so were the facilities. Really nice pub on the end of the ro - Great location near to everything, quiet site Plug socket in bedroom was faulty and gave me a shock when tried pulling the plug out. Dangerous
- Anne (10/5): Fabulous - Everything was brilliant. Id love to stay there again soon I liked everything. Thankyou
- Paul (5/5): Filthy Kitchen - Good location for access to the beach and local facilities. The crockery, cutlery, and kitchen were all filthy. We had to wash and clean the kitchen before we could use it. They have a policy that everything has to be washed, dried and put away. They hold £50 in case there is something is not as it should be on leaving. Whoever checked that kitchen needs to go to Specsavers and own a guide dog 🦮
- Theresa (6/5): Pleasant - Location close to facilities and not far from beach.
- Cairen (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, clean cosy caravan
- Dawn (10/5): Top stay at Merrifields - Very clean comfortable spacious caravan lovely little decking to sit out and enjoy the sun beds made up on arrival would recommend Nothing all was brilliant
- Gordon (7/5): Good -
- Geoffrey (10/5): Spotless comfortable spacious caravan close to the beach - Caravan was spotless. Staff were very helpful and polite. Heating was easy to use which makes a change.
- Rosemary (5/5): Passable - No curtains on windows just blinds.
3 forks for 4 people.
Bedrooms doors don't shut.
Mop bucket left at door with dirty water in it.
Beds weren't made on arrival which was stated there would be.
- Mark (4/5): Not impressed - Staff not there when arrived had to go to a pub down the road not very helpful. Caravan was right next to play area and also kids playing ball around the caravan. No shops on site as stated all boarded up. Club not opened till 6pm so had to go to club on other caravan site who were extremely friendly, unlike our staff. Not impressed as mobility caravan should not have been near lots of screaming kids
- Cummins (5/5): Passable - Single beds comfortable
Location for beach great
Very spacious
Enclosed garden Double bed not a double very small
No curtains so very light
Could be cleaner
Very basic
Outside broken slabs around back door covered over with a piece of hard board
No drain cover very large hole not safe.
- Spurr (9/5): Superb -
- Wright (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (9/5): We had a lovely peaceful stay in a very comfortable, clean caravan, and would stay here again. - The location was good with shops and beach nearby. I was disappointed that there weren't any cleaning products in the kitchen area. Washing-up liquid, soap, scourers or dish cloths etc. Other than this we had an enjoyable stay. However, it's been more than a week since we ended our break and I've not recieved my £50 deposit yet. A lady phoned me a few days ago and she wanted my bank details but I hadn't got them to hand si I asked her if she could possibly phone me back in half a hour and she agreed, but I'm still waiting.
- Helen (9/5): Excellent. The weather was perfect along with the facilities and amenities on site,a perfect holiday - The location was excellent within easy reach of Mablethorpe and Skegness both being about 20 mins away by car and the facilities around the campsite were good .With numerous pubs, clubs, amusements, shops, cafes and beach available within easy walking distance there is no need to leave the resort unless you want to. Nothing
- Leslie (7/5): second visit to site......all was good - all was good nothing
- Garfield (9/5): Thursday to a Monday for the darts event - Excellent walking distance to club tropicana, lovely spacious caravan Nothing to dislike
- Louise (6/5): Pleasant -
- Heather (10/5): Warm comfortable and affordable - Had everything we needed. The caravan (8 merryfield) was comfortable and warm. It was quiet and easy to find. All people we spoke to who work there where nice and helpful Was unsure how to check out but rang the number and worked it out. So no real problem.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (5/5): Passable - Very good friendly service and very good apartment Apartments just needs updating with putting up some curtains in the windows and just to let people know that the pub Cross Road can be quite noisy at weekend's
- Pauline (7/5): Good - It was okay Wasn't booked in. And had to go to reception a few time to tell them we wanted to check out
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessie (10/5): Great lovely warm Morden van. Warmest I've been in, never a cold morning. Which was lovely. - Lovley clean warm Morden van. The two cleaners were lovely. One came over to see if nan was OK getting up the steps. She also sorted our heating out for you. As it was rather warm 😆 The tin opener was broken, so had to borrow next door. The only thing I would have liked was an extra pillow on all the single beds. As only one and it was lumpy.
- Barrie (10/5): Exceptional - Good location very clean
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (3/5): 2 nights of spiders crawling all over us can’t open shut most windows cobwebs spiders all over - Great location Cleanliness spiders
- Natalie (10/5): brilliant , will be back - caravan was lovely , nice and clean and as a bonus not only did it have a full size fridge/freezer but it also had a full size dish washer ( not that we used it) check out could have been a bit later but it really wasnt a problem seeing as they were happy for us to leave our cars there for a couple of hours
- Chantelle (3/5): Poor - Spacious. Clean. No curtains in bedroom, so light from street light came in all night then bedroom was really bright as soon as the sun came up.
The mattress was really uncomfortable. Could feel every spring so struggled to sleep.
On ad it said iron was included. Did not have one and didn’t have one when requested. Was told where I would be able to buy one from which I shouldn’t have to do.
Shower temperature difficult to regulate when on ‘hot’ setting - had it on coldest and it was still too hot to stand under. Changed setting to ‘eco’ and this had no power. Struggled to be wet from neck down.
- Gemma (1/5): Bad -
- Matambanadzo (10/5): Exceptional - Everything from the location - very convenient and a stone throw away from entertainment for kids as well as the beach. I also liked the play area for kids and the ensuit bathroom. Great job, Maryfield and Sandfield 👏 I did not like that my booking for my kids for swimming I made over the phone and was assured that someone would send an email or would call me back but never got email and call back until my departure otherwise all was well.
- Nathan (9/5): Accommodation falsely advertised on booking.com, beware Before paying! APARTMENT NOT CARAVAN!!!!!!!! - The location was amazing, right in the heart of amusements with the beach within 5 minutes walking distance. Falsely advertised on behalf of booking.com. The accommodation itself was amazing but we were expecting a caravan as it states in the photo and sale options up untill paying that's when you get a confirmation email stating you've paid for an apartment!! No clear indication of the let being an apartment but again that's booking.com who are at fault not Merryfield or Hoseasons. Such a shame but booking.com have lost a customer I won't use them ever again!!
- Amanj (1/5): Bad -
- Terri (7/5): Only used it as a base to sleep as we were visiting friend - Good price.
- Tammy (5/5): Poor stay - Area was OK Caravan wasn't very welcoming. Not 100% clean pen on chairs plastic falling off door frame shower was dirty. Bed was not comfortable and only 1 thin pillow
- Sonia (4/5): Spacious caravan. Located close to all amenities. However very close to a busy road so traffic noisy & people loud - We liked the location. Decent fridge/freezer. Great cooker/hob. The cleanliness of the carpets. Pet hair & dust visible. Would not have stayed in a caravan used by pets with prior knowledge. The bath plug was defective & despite reporting this the next day it wasn’t fixed during our stay making it difficult to use. Inadequate amount of cookware for a 6berth caravan, however another frying pan & chopping board was provided to us. Dining table chair broken on arrival but repaired same day as reported. There are No instructions anywhere on where to locate the longe bed or how to use, new caravan users would be at a loss as to where to find this. Nets on windows tired & worn, needing to be cleaned.
- Joanne (5/5): Good/but only because it had a full kitchen and bathroom - Clean steps from cigarette butts upto the rooms Very damp feeling…had heaters but damp would leave the furniture or beds
- Jemma (10/5): Fantastic - Great clean spacious everything we needed for our week holiday as a group of 12 regular buses and entertainment close by Poor signal
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (10/5): Beautiful van, beautiful location, lovely staff - The van was modern, nicely decorated, comfortable, so close to beach and arcades I could see it (if the hill wasn’t in the way), staff went above and beyond for me, so helpful and polite. Would love to visit again and would want to book here. First class, thank you. This park and van was perfect for me and my family, I have zero complaints (and I sat thinking for a minute as well)
- Diane (3/5): Poor - Location was good.
Property spacious. No outside space.
Bed mattress needs replacing.
Needs decorating.
Also, when originally booked the pictures showed a caravan we previously stayed in,. After booking found out it was an apartment!! Surely this is false advertising???
- Andi (5/5): Comfy bed but no cleaning products so need to bring some - Beds were comfy and there was kitchen appliances No towels, cleaning products etc
- Green (1/5): Bad -
- Askew (1/5): Rubbish apartment at merry field and sandfield - Nothing I booked this apartment on the understanding that it was a ground floor apartment but when we arrived there were 20 metal steps up to the apartment which was impossible for me and my partner to climb plus the apartment was above some derelict shops I paid £225 pounds for this apartment and couldn't even get to the front door so we had to go to the reception and book other accommodation at a cost of over £300 pounds so I'll be wanting a refund for the first apartment of £225 pounds and if it's not received promptly I'll be seeking legal help thank you
- John (9/5): Superb - Nice location for the beach & comfortable accommodation. Nothing really.
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and very spacious with all the facilities that you could want. Also near the beech. Great value for money.
- Patrick (10/5): Lovely clean caravan, helpful and polite staff, we have booked again. - Everything was perfect, lovely helpful staff. N/A
- Terri (7/5): Good -
- Marino (1/5): DONT GET NUMBER 12 SILVER/DIRTY!!! - Location Very dirty and lots of pet hair; mold on shower glass doors, grease on extractor fan, no porch
- Joanne (10/5): Nice and relaxing beach holiday - We love the area. The caravan was lovely, clean, and had everything we needed. It is close to the beach, which is a few minutes' walk away. We had a nice relaxing holiday. The weather but we can't change the British weather!!
- Marki_jnr (9/5): Superb -
- Damage (10/5): Excellent stay and the weather was too, so double bonus - Totally recommend a stay with them, clean and bright vans bed was very good. Like a van with a real sofa instead of the built-in ones, always uncomfortable, maybe next time a book I will ask
- Neil (9/5): Superb - Nice place
- Wright (8/5): Very good -
