Guest Reviews
- Yasmina (10/5): - Lovely warm and cosy cottage in a fantastic location. Great walks nearby which were very easy to access. The kitchen was well equipped. Perfect for a family getaway. Nice warm shower. Cottage was clean throughout. Some damp present in the living areas.
- Claire (8/5): Good for a short break - Perfect location
The beds were very comfortable and good quality pillows There was nothing to dislike as such. Pity there wasn’t sky tv other than free view but hardly the end of the world.
- Dawn (9/5): We had an amazing stay. The house was lovely and location brilliant. The Indian over the road was also great and good v - Location No back garden
- Elaine (8/5): Good - Central location
Comfortable beds
Lovely clean towels and linen
Cleaned well
Great kitchen , well equipped
Lots of DVDS and games There were a few things that irritate
No lock on bathroom door
No hook to hang anything ( dressing gown, towel etc ) in bathroom
Smoke alarm hanging off.
Don’t get code until 2 hrs before arrival.
Bathroom fan very dusty
Approach and driveway shabby
No welcome pack - no instructions for TV or DVD, no ideas for where to eat
No dish cloth or washing up liquid
Lift opening has hole in it
Didn’t like all the emails that you had to go to a link, didn’t feel personal, the property has been for sale for quite a while and it felt like they have given up, if anyone had visited the property they would see these things that need addressing, I’m used to getting a contact from the owner or company that feels personal and simple - you could easily miss vital info when having to wade through lots of writing

- Steven (10/5): Lovely property in a pretty village. Good location for walking and visting nearby Bakewell. - Cosy house with plenty of space. It was annoying that I had to upload photo ID in order to complete the booking - this requirement should have been stated clearly in the Booking.com listing. I have never had to do that before and would not normally book a property that required a copy of my photo ID.
- Amanda (8/5): Lovely stay in a great location. - The location in the middle of the village. A bit expensive.
- Leon (9/5): Comparable, quiet time in a nice ; - It was self catering. No breakfast was supplied Not keen on the memory foam bed. This is just personal taste as I prefer a firmer mattress
- Petra (10/5): Homely and pretty central cottage. - The property is in the centre of the village, is spacious and comfortable and nicely furnished. It would be helpful to know that the door to the property is the second door on the side of the property, down a driveway, which is split by a gate, and as such not easily visible.
- Nicola (9/5): Relaxing and comfortable - Lovely, spacious, good facilities, well kept and great location
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Lovely, spacious and high quality accomodation, in a great location. Used a third party site called pillow partners, which required extensive identity verification (scanning of driving license). Check in details were not available (through this site) until 2 hours before arrival. Property was difficult to find, had to ask for directions at nearby pub.
- Amanda (9/5): Lovely relaxing stay I beautiful village - Great location and had everything we needed. Lack of info about bins leaving etc
- Tony (7/5): Had a good 2 days because of the location .(take your own baking trays!) - Central although difficult to find !
Enough room for 2
Easy to park the car across the road even though it was a bank holiday .
Devonshire Arms a lovely pub Terrible instructions from the agents and overall poor communication , kept asking for information that we’d already given …
Baking trays were disgusting. No cleaning sponges or washing up liquid Smoke alarm was hanging off the ceiling!
- Dominic (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (10/5): A very pleasant, comfortable stay, right in the centre of this beautiful village. A good base to stay to enjoy the Peaks - Location right in the centre of the village. Very surprised by the lovely large rooms. Good facilities The lounge area a little bit dark
- Rob (5/5): Passable - Heating system very poor for winter couldn't get radiators on
- Kevin (8/5): Great location for walking and cycling in the Peak District. -
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (5/5): The coldest place i’ve ever stayed. Miserable. - There was plenty of space in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable. When we arrived on Friday the property was absolutely freezing. It was about 4 hours before we could remove outdoor clothing. There was no adequate way to heat the property as heating was timed to be in overnight and clearly they had not had the foresight to heat it in advance despite it being November. Contacted the management team but was told there was nothing they could do. They would visit in the morning. Still waiting for that visit… not even a phone call…
Property dusty.
Bare lightbulb in bathroom.
But unless your idea of family tone is huddling around halogen hob rings and moving tiny oil radiators from room to room in a desperate attempt to stay warm i’d avoid renting this property until May
- Kaytlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - The location was ideal. Very clean, modern, and well equipped kitchen.
- Joan (8/5): A very pleasant stay in a nice cottage in a lovely part of the country. - Warm and comfortable
Very good location
Well stocked kitchen items Unfortunately some of the kitchen items in the cupboards were dirty, in particular a greasy frying pan and Breville grill.
The plug in the bathroom sink is broken.
The outside household waste dustbins were full and smelly.
We are not very technically minded and we struggled to get the tv to work.
We thought it would have been helpful to maybe have a folder with information such as handbooks for things such as how to work the tv, which day to put the bins out for collection.
However, these were only minor inconveniences and didn’t spoil our stay.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - We were advised by booking.com that the normal check in time was 3. I confirmed that was acceptable and received confirmation that was agreed and then was informed by pillow partners that it was 4pm and they ignored what I had been sent
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanna (10/5): Well serviced homely property - Very spacious and comfortable, we had access to all the facilities we needed.
Free parking nearby.
Perfect location in a lovely village. N/A
- Alison (8/5): Fabulous location, comfy beds, beautiful little property, would stay again. - Location excellent, staff helpful and loved the decor and quality of the furnishings. A great little property and didn’t really miss any outside space, even with a dog, as so many green spaces, walks and things to do on the doorstep. Nothing
- Phillip (7/5): Overall enjoyable, but not so sure it was VFM. - Great location. Not everything worked in the cottage
