- Charles (6/5): I feel a little bit used. £75 for 30 minutes cleaning and nowhere to park - The location was good. the place was clean. The kitchen was well equipped. Clean towels and bedding. Smoke alarm worked. Water was nice and hot with good pressure. Nice change from using hotels Parking! Extremely restricted and not mentioned when looking on the web site. Shower leaked so cold wet feet when get out, kitchen tap very lose. Sofa was not best standard. The cleaning charge of £75 is wildly excessive. I will happily do the work myself at £75 per hour.
- Steve (1/5): Dirty - Stairs not hoovered
Black hair on and in the beds
Cobwebs

- Kerry (6/5): If you could sort out the maintenance issues it would be a cracking place to stay. - Great location, quiet street. Overall ok. Rubbish stacked up by the key box - this would encourage rats. Mattress in main bedroom too soft - can't work out if just too soft or too old as once my partner was in we would just roll into the middle. Wardrobe door in main bedroom wouldn't close properly, if you look inside the wardrobe you can see the back of it is in need of repair, tap in kitchen coming away from sink, shower in bathroom leaked and shower holder to loose to hold shower head properly.
- Tanya (9/5): Satisfying and nice - Excellent location of place! The cottage was absolutely cosy and pleasant to stay there. The mattress in the room on the left of the stairs is really uncomfortable. Perhaps, you could change it with a new and better one.
- Sarah (8/5): Perfect property for us three adults. A great base for us to explore this part of the count - Location, within an hour by car to Colchester, Southend and Saffron Walden, and by train to London.
Towels, beautifully soft.
Heating, warmed up very quickly.
Property, cosy, clean and welcoming.
Shower, great water pressure!
Service was friendly and prompt, we had forgotten to request parking permit. On request via email, this was sorted very quickly. It is suggested, tho, to request this during the booking process. A tidy frontage would add to the tidy welcome that's inside
- Paul (10/5): Would stay their again tomorrow and will be back if I get the opertunity again - Great location , handy to the city centre for shopping and eating out off street parking , quite location , attentive Host
- Martyn (8/5): much to like - location old shower unit
- Anna (7/5): Lovely place and good location, but could be cleaner and some rubbish instructions would be good. - Location was great and very conveniently located to Chelmsford town centre and shops. A few maintenance issues need to be dealt with - leaky shower. Doors didn't close properly. Oven was very dirty and not really usable. There were no oven trays that were provided that could have been used as they were all dirty.
There were no instructions on the bins and rubbish. Coffee pods were provided but no coffee machine. Dishwasher tablets were provided but there was no dishwasher.
- Mercedes (8/5): Comfortable stay with all the amenities we needed for a family of 4. - The location was very close to town, quiet neighbors, had everything we needed for cooking, comfortable beds, nice and clean except for the bathroom floors, a decent sized backyard space. A good amount of room for a family of 4 to stay. Parking was hit and miss, sometimes we had to park a couple streets away. I don’t think the bathroom floor was cleaned, we noticed our feet were dirty after getting out of the shower on the first day, but everything else was spotless. The shower leaks if you let it spray in a certain area. There was a fan provided that didn’t work and it was very hot at night so we ended up borrowing a fan from a family member in town. Also the tv was a little difficult to use, sometimes we couldn’t get it to turn on and then it would randomly work fine other times.
- Aleisha (10/5): The hosts of Roman Cottage were extremely quick and sufficient when arranging our booking. -
