Guest Reviews
- Scott (7/5): Good location, Okay comfort and tasty breakfast. Staff were a mix of helpful and rude. - The breakfast was nice, although there was a few occurrences where stuff was wrong, for example I ordered a breakfast with 2 sausages, 2 bacon. I was brought 1 sausage, 3 bacon. Minor things, But nothing that would spoil the visit. Rooms were very bright even at night.
Lift was scary.
Some staff were very helpful, others were a little strange, Off putting in the sense you could tell they did not want to be there. (the breakfast staff)
- Marion (7/5): - The room was small but comfortable and the staff was very welcoming. The hotel is close to the center and the sea which is nice. The price is fair. Overall the hotel feels a bit stuck in time with mostly the bathroom in need of renovation (rust and some mould issue)
- Dawn (10/5): Avery nice, relaxing short break in a good hotel with excellent service from all of the staff! - The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice & the service was exemplary!
The location was brilliant being on the sea front & only a short walk into the town & parks. Nothing, all good!!
- Zoe (9/5): Great value for money and location. Ok for a one night stay. - Location was fantastic, service great and price great. Live music went on until 1130pm and we were directly above so the base and sound was loud. My son didn’t sleep because of this. Then corridor was noisy early hours.
- Phil (2/5): Nice view but terrible room - The view was nice The room was filthy, unkempt and lots of mould on walls, broken floor tiles and a really dirty carpet. Was given as an upgrade so not sure what the rest is like.

- Lesley North (6/5): -
- Andrew W (10/5): Super location and excellent value for money. - Super convenient, clean room friendly staff Some public areas a bit tired looking but at price point still excellent value for money
- Janusz (10/5): -
- Maurice (8/5): - Nice location, good sized room. Steps up to reception for my disabled wife.
- Barbara (8/5): - Äusserst freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Darren (6/5): - Right in the centre of Paignton
Idea for everything with in the area . The car park is a little tight getting in and out
- Donna (8/5): Perfect for a one nights stay - Great sea front location. Cheap & cheerful hotel, staff were great, very friendly and helpful Hotel a little bit tired, but didn't damper our stay
- Heather Whyte (8/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. Warm and inviting. Food was delicious and there was a good variety of options to suit everyone. The hotel was a little warm at times. Food service was a little slow at times when they were busy, but it was worth the wait.

- Kateryna (6/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): - The room was good size. Comfortable. Pretty clean . Food exceptional.very good value for money. Didnt like being woken up at 5.30am with noise feom dining room . Situated above us .
- David (9/5): Really lovely will return - The food was excellent for breakfast and evening meal The pillows
- Debs (9/5): Cheery, friendly, professional staff, Clean room. Had everything I needed - Lovely big really white towels..Helpful, cheerful staff obvious they are a good team. Felt individually cared for despite many guests., Beach & pier right there. Plenty of delicious breakfast. All good
- Parry (8/5): - Staff are great Entertainment being cancelled alot
- Ann (7/5): - The staff and food were excellent. The staff were very obliging and very pleasant. If we returned we would have to look at a different room. The bathroom was very small.
Being a blue badge owner I had previously mentioned on an e mail that we really required a disabled parking space. The e mail back explained what we should do if the only disabled bay was taken. We were grateful to have a positive response.
I am not making a complaint, but mainly an observation.
When allocating our room it would been have been good if our request for disabled parking had been noted and taken into account that we required an easy access room.
The lift was fine but then I struggled to go down, albeit a few steps and then had to go up a few more steps to get to room 415.
I am sure you probably don't have the time or staff to go through e mails but the stairs were my main concern along with the small bathroom
Overall our experience at the hotel was very good
- Nicholas (8/5): - Fantastic Location No dislikes
- MAHIR (5/5): -
- Dennis (8/5): -
- Samantha (5/5): - The staff and location and room was fine The breakfast could do with improving. More options like mushrooms and black pudding. Better bread. The coffee was awful
- valerie (9/5): - La gentillesse du personnel
Le petit déjeuner
La vue mer.
Un hotel qui a sûrement eu beaucoup de charme et auquel il en reste beaucoup mais qui a besoin d'un rafraîchissement.
- Karen (8/5): Great stay for what we wanted… recommend for a short stay. - The location was fab opposite the beach, lift to all floors. No entertainment at weekends!
- Lorraine (8/5): Really enjoyed our stay and will book again in near future. - Location, staff very friendly, breakfast good . The view was lovely overlooking the bay, everything you need on your doorstep. Third time staying there and will definitely stay again!…would recommend to anyone visiting Paignton. Only thing missing is outside seating area .
- Tayler (10/5): -
- Aimee (9/5): - We enjoyed our stay here great location and lovely bed The noise early morning was really loud, constant stomping and creaking floor boards, also the net curtains were all ripped.
- Lee (5/5): Excellent value for the money but very basic and small breakfast over all value for money - It was close to everything Very noisy with other guests stamping by the door and above us and could do with some TLC
- Mark (8/5): Great location - Staff very helpful and made us feel welcome.
- Carla (7/5): -
- Stephanie (8/5): Comfortable night in friendly, well run hotel. - Fantastic location on the seafront. Very friendly staff who are very hard working, nothing too much trouble. I had booked breakfast and dinner and the quality and presentation of the food was excellent. Car park at the front was full when I arrived but I was allowed to park in the coach parking area as there were no tours staying in the hotel that night. My room was very clean, the bed comfortable and plenty of hot water/tea/coffee/milk etc. Slept very well. Would stay here again. I felt very safe which is important as was travelling alone. The window in my room was very dirty on the outside with salt spray from the sea. If it could be cleaned it would make a huge difference and there is a sea view. I do appreciate it would be difficult to access as conservatory below! The hotel is a little tired round the edges but the positives more than make up for this.
- Sue (7/5): Always enjoy our stay there but definitely needs a facelift although it is very clean just tired - I like it location friendly staff and lovely breakfast It’s very dated in need of decoration in some rooms and the windows could do with a clean and some beds are now uncomfortable
- Donna (9/5): -
- brett (10/5): - The hotel was very clean and lovely and warm. Proppa toasty. The staff were more than helpful and pleasant.
Would definitely stay here again.
- Kevin (8/5): Charming hotel with lovely staff in a perfect location. - Location perfect. Hotel had charm and the staff were very helpful and polite. Nice breakfast too. The bed was very uncomfortable.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Lea (7/5): -
- Eve (4/5): - Great location fantastic sea view dog friendly The manager was extremely rude to me and speaks to her staff like dirt. We had lost our keys to our hire car I’m a single parent with 2 daughters we had no clothes apart from what we were wearing. My daughter’s clothes were wet from the sea so I called to ask if they could tell me how to turn the heating on so I could dry them. A lovely member of staff answered and said “oh would you like me to put them In The dryer for you” I said “oh wow yes please” she said she would come up to grab them. 15 minutes later no one had come no problem so I took wet clothes down to reception while daughters waited naked up in room. The manager Sandra was there I said “oh hi I spoke to a lovely girl she told me she would dry my daughters clothes” now Sandra already knew our situation we were facing..she then proceeded to say loudly” oh did she now!!” I said “yes sorry is that a problem “ her reply “well yes we have towells drying now”. She then picked up the phone and called the girl and spoke to her so rudely telling her off for offering to help me. She demanded the girl come to the office straight away then as I walked off she was shouting at her. Jezzz after such a stressful situation being stranded no car no clothes and all I wanted was my kids clothes dry. I made it clear while there that I was unhappy with the service so Sandra then tryed to be overly nice !!!Rate the place don’t rate her!
- Debra (8/5): -
- Jolene Maria Olive (8/5): Very good would stay in again - Very good walking distance by the train station, town, bus beach and pier It could be hot inside the room but you can always ask or request fan if you need it staff are helpful
- Gary (9/5): - The location and value for money, plus free parking. Nothing
- Finn (10/5): - breakfast was super good and service very friendly and on point (how much fat has the yoguhrt ;) ). overall a great stay and very worth the money!
- Mike Salmon (7/5): 60th Birthday stayaway - Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. Good location on the sea front. We went half board and the dinners were very good. Wouldcstay again but definitely not room 201 on the ground floor. The breakfast not so good, over done bacon, sausage and hard fried eggs, almost like the food had been under warmers for quite some time.
We were allocated room 201 on the ground floor which if you are after a good quiet night's sleep is impossible. Constant sound of rushing water day and night, possibly from the kitchens, like a toilet being flushed every so often.
- Lisa (7/5): - Breakfast was cooked well, our room was large with little patio area Young female server forgot about out drinks at breakfast, our room had been pet friendly which I wasn't aware of which wasn't great as asthmatic but didn't complain as liked the room and access so used inhaler more 😊
- Joshua (10/5): - The staff at the hotel went leaps and bounds to make sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Room was lovely and the entertainment was brilliant - would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area. We'll be back 😁
- Sonny (1/5): Terrible - Nothing Old and dated property shower was freezing
- michele (7/5): Ok for price - Location Old fashioned. Outside appearance scruffy. Interior furnishings old . Food reasonable.
- Peter (6/5): - The breakfast and evening meal was good , staff were friendly and helpful, parking was easy . The bath room light above the mirror didn't work the shower took forever to regulate the water , bed head was uncomfortable and banged against the wall .
- Sharon (9/5): Last minute booking - Last minute booking for two dogs and husband who can't climb many stairs. Friendly reception. We didn't book breakfast. We ate on the harbour.. Food wasn't available without pre booking. Can't complain but music from entertainment was a bit loud but finished by 11pm. Dogs wake me up too early but you can't do anything about that!
- Lisa (8/5): - Staff was friendly and had a good atmosphere. Carpet in the bedroom had tape on the floor
- Mariusz (8/5): -
- linda (10/5): - A friendly, clean hotel. I booked a single room and it was so lovely. Good shower, plenty of storage space. A good view from my window. An excellent breakfast. Nothing
- Josh (10/5): -
- Chris (5/5): The hotel needs updating and maintenance. - The location was excellent, the cooked breakfast was minimal. The hotel is in need of maintenance, our room 302, the inner door frame was smashed, the bathroom door handles were broken, the mirror bathroom light did not work. The bed, all you could feel and hear we're the springs.
- CD (7/5): - Great location. Good value A bit tired. Carpets and decoration require upgrading
- Simon (9/5): -
- wendy (8/5): good service and helpful manager - excellent breakfast manager with white shirt very helpful and professional all good vibes. great to be able to park my car on site.
- Julie (9/5): - Friendly staff. On the seafront Shower was awful and my husband couldn't stand up in it.
- Andrew (4/5): Cheap overnight stay. - Free parking, breakfast, location and price were great. Room was tired/rundown, shower matt was mouldy.
- 60665654baab7021b4df828bde6e701b (4/5): To noisy the floor boards were creaking, other people didn’t show any consideration for other people in the property. - It was close to the sea, and the pier and walking distant so once parked up didn’t need to drive. The fact that when I asked to bring my guinea pig, I wasn’t told I would be charge £20 for him to stay with us, If I was told that I wouldn’t have taken him. The floorboards was creaking and could hear people walking past the room
- f98e02cdbce2732d0d590764927d6db5 (10/5): - Friendly staff

- aa58782a9244720b70790d54f63a2007 (9/5): - Parking, cleanliness, easy check-in, warm Just to be picky, would of liked coasters in bedroom. Hate putting my mug onto wooden furniture
- 3761657e99ab71301c681708a9395e39 (7/5): - Hotel in a good place
Staff friendly and hotel clean Didn't have entertainment for 2 nights due to the amount of people staying there
- 14ac60c36c63715855f8b5110abad6fb (6/5): Good stay but a few bug bears - The staff and location It was red hot in the room both nights even with fan and window open and kitchen 2 floors below us had staff playing loud music from 7.30 . You could hear loud doors banging through the night
- f3bc09b9ba2471f9ef7ed7943eb27135 (8/5): lovely relaxing weekend away - hotel is vey close to everything you need i.e. town restaurants pubs and seafront the view is fantastic from the conservatory
hotel owner is very polite and welcoming The young waiter on Monday morning was rather rude and abrupt to our table and another table rather unprofessional also the shower in our room was a bit hit and miss with the water temperture

- 232ffe47f97773e9ed7ba5e264b18fbb (8/5): Would pay more for a bigger room. - The staff were friendly, great location. Breakfast was good. The room was very small, but wasn’t expecting too much for the price we paid. You get what you pay for!
- 10b46573a7e972359a32e20d1362bce1 (10/5): -
- robert (3/5): A room for the night - It was a bed for the night at a reasonable price. It served its purpose. The TV didn't work properly, the breakfast wasn't cooked properly and got my order wrong.
- Karen (9/5): - Clean and tidy hotel Bed was a little hard and shower head would not stay up so had to be held.
- Matthew (7/5): Nice. Generally an older crowd when we stayed. No problems, free airing, sea view -
- Heather (10/5): Came for 5 nights to chill out and celebrate our 29th anniversary and that’s just what we did. Would definitely stay aga - Location is excellent . Sandra on reception made checking in easy and they are all so friendly. The bed was so comfy. The price was very reasonable, it’s not the ritz but it was warm and comfortable and had a very calming atmosphere, didn’t feel like you were in a hotel it felt like visiting friends so homely. Free parking was a bonus. Nothing it suited our needs.

- Morgan (4/5): - Room size Dining room above our room noise was horrendous and then late at night around 12 don't know what staff was doing up there
- Trevor (8/5): -
- Camille (9/5): Très chaleureux, je n’hésiterais pas à séjourner à nouveau. - Parfait pour un court séjour. Beau et très calme comme emplacement.
- Karan (8/5): OK for an overnight Stopover - Great location Breakfast was not to my liking or expected standards
- loopsylou (8/5): Great property - The rooms were a good size, had everything we needed and were clean.the staff were helpful and friendly. Could do with a little updating and breakfast wasn't the best, but all good for the amazing price.
- Angela (5/5): Get what you pay for. - Airy sitting and dining room. Dust in side table and the guest information book was white with dust in the bedroom. No receptionist on arrival. Checking out receptionist was too busy with her English breakfast to even take the key. Very poor service.
- Emma (8/5): -
- Kirsty (8/5): Will come again - Excellent location, good value for money. Have stayed here 4-5 times already and will come back again Little bit dated, could do with a freshen up although there were some workmen there during our stay so it could be in the process of having some work done
