Guest Reviews
- Jean (9/5): Tranquil, beautiful and a joy to the eye . - It was a beautiful site . Lived up to everything as advertised. The house was lovely with attention to details. We would have done more but booking was a little complicated. Plus we were slightly out of season.
- Sam (10/5): Awesome flat, ace location - Loved it. Brilliant location, really well furnished and lots of lovely little touches to make the stay even more comfortable. Great communication in the build up and through out. Nothing!
- Lauren (10/5): - Well where do I begin....absolutely beautiful inside and out. Due to its remote location I was worried that I may get lost trying to find it but it was very easy to find. It's set in beautiful grounds and is so secluded and peaceful. As we entered the house it so lovely and warm as the owner had very kindly left the heating on for us! It was very clean all round and the beds were comfortable. The front bedroom overlooked the front garden with views across to lake windemere. The shower in the bathroom was nice and powerful and even had LED strip lights underneath the bath, which was a nice touch. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed to make a meal if you choose. We were also greeted with a welcome hamper with local produce from their own farmshop. My hubby tells me the coffee was amazing! It had a washing machine and tumble dryer out the back of the kitchen which was extremely handy after a day of walking around Buttermere and getting covered in mud! At the bottom of the garden was a small river which was lovely to listen to with no other noise around. We walked through the gate at the bottom of the garden, across the bridge above the stream and followed the path for a couple of minutes which takes you down to lake windemere. There was also a folder with lots of information about the Graithwate estate, places nearby to eat, local walks and things to do in the area. I would 100% stay here again without a doubt, we were not disappointed at all. It was a 'home from home'. Thank you so much for such a lovely stay 😊 Absolutely nothing!

- pat (9/5): Very convenient for our requirements - Has washing machine tumble drier and dishwashers Nothing
- Iona (10/5): Amazing stay, beautiful property and location. - Beautiful location, clean and everything we needed. Road going down to it cause use a bit of flattening out.
- Elsa (10/5): Wonderful place and location, five stars. - Everything! A perfect cottage in a perfect location. The cottage is comfortable and furnished with everything one could need. The location is divine with a soundtrack of birdsong. We loved our stay and will certainly return. Nothing.
- Tim (9/5): Great location for proximity to the race HQ for The Lap. Peaceful setting, nice cottage. - Super cottage in a peaceful location near to Windermere (lake, not town!) and, for us, extremely convenient for getting to the start of The Lap at Low Cunsey Farm. Less than a ten-minute walk! Owners dealt promptly with a maintenance issue when the outer door handle fell apart at 2.00am as we returned from our ultra event; we couldn't get in straightaway, but they sent a maintenance chap round the next morning.
- Pamela (9/5): Superb -
- Bruce (9/5): Great location in the heart of the Lake District, perfect for exploring the area - Location and scenery was really nice
- Jane (9/5): Lovely peaceful holiday by lake Windermere. -
- Sarah (9/5): Relaxing - Lovely and quite with easy access to lake Windermere
- Sarah (10/5): Excellent Location - Mill Cottage is in a perfect location for a quiet break in the Lakes. Located a stones throw from Lake Windermere, we could access the lake side paths through a small field. My dogs loved exploring the area, just be warned there are sheep in the nearby fields. The cottage also has lakes views through the trees. We only saw the occasional walker during our stay, it was so peaceful. We loved seeing the old saw Mill next door, it needs bringing into use as it is a vacant building. The neighbouring cottage was vacant during our stay but it looked to be a higher end finish to Mill Cottage. The cottage was good value for money compared to others in the area, but we booked last minute in low season. I may have been disappointed if I had to pay high season full price. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay but it was missing the attention to details that may irritate some visitors. The TV remote and other remotes needed new batteries and also the clock. The can opener was useless and the frying pans need replacing. Also the cleaner needs a feather duster to get the cobwebs. The cottage is nice but basic, do not expect a high end 4 star cottage it is more like a 3 star. A little attention to details are needed to improve standards. It would benefit from a carpet clean and decorating.
- Ivana (8/5): Very good - Lovely cottage, quiet location with walks right from the doorstep. Comfortable and warm. Could have done with some cleaning supplies being available for floors and surfaces, but it wasn't a problem.
- Pat (8/5): Very enjoyable - Had everything we required The front bedroom bed was uncomfortable and creaked at the slightest movement
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location, very comfortable cottage. Had an issue with the boiler not working but staff were brilliant and dealt with it efficiently.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Roy (9/5): Relaxed peaceful rest - We made our own breakfast. Location was beautiful Going home
- Timon (9/5): It is bigger than the pictures actually suggested. Cosy and not far from the lake at all. It is nice equipped, especiall -
- John (8/5): Very good - Spacious and facilities, Just a little too isolated for us
- Sachin (9/5): Superb -
- Carolyn (8/5): Perfect location for the southern Lakes and its attractions. - Quiet, comfortable and good views, gift basket. Grouting in bathroom needs attention. Needs pillow covers in both bedrooms and mattress covers on the single beds. Fitted bottom sheets are more comfortable.
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous location, exceptional accommodation. Will definitely rebook this lovely cottage.
- Jane (8/5): Peace and quiet guaranteed - Nice, scenic location and very spacious with lovely views. Our dogs loved doing zoomies on the front grass. Settee was comfortable. Welcome hamper was appreciated. Would have preferred another toilet or ensuite, couldn't get radio to work and kitchen clock had no batteries. Behind door in lounge was a dirty/big scuff.
- Rob (10/5): Superb. We hope to return in the Autumn. - Beautiful and remote location. Silent bar the bird song. Easy access to lake shore. Good location for fell walking and mountain biking. Good value for money. Not enough places to put your cup down in the lounge. Too many pointless plastic flowers or "objects of art!"
- Sarah (10/5): We loved the cottage, peacefully located … all we needed for the weekend. - Lovely cottage tucked away down a track looking over the lake and next to Cunsey beck. Comfortable cottage. Nice touch from Graythwaite estate to leave a small hamper of local goods. Also nice to be able to book to use the pool. Could do with towels at the pool as an extra (but not necessary as took our own).
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Scott (9/5): Great luxurious house, very comfortable! - Lovely hidden away gem. Good facilities, dogs welcomed, right by lake Windermere. Beautiful walks across the estate. Cottage was spacious, warm and easy to locate. Checkout time was incredibly early. 09:00!?
