Guest Reviews
- jackie (9/5): Great calm beautiful old renovated off the beaten track house - The house is beautiful and the village and view are absolutely wonderful. The landlord is super nice and offered to pick us up from the restaurant which was half an hour walk down the hill. There is a short cut to the Camino so it’s easy to go back on track. We were not aware of of the fact that it was about 30 minutes walk down uphill and at the end of Camiño day that can be really hard, but the landlord helped us in taking us back from the restaurant which so it was super nice and the location and views completely compensated once we got there.

- Jones (10/5): Lovely home in an ancient village above the sea. - Fabulous stone house built 350 years ago with modern amenities. Lovely hostess. She even offered to pick us up at the bottom of the hill. Steep climb to the house, but well worth it.
We were the only guests so didn’t have to share the bath. There is one bath for 3 rooms.
Angela is so kind and gave us history lessons and good advice.

- Rebeka (9/5): Rural and relaxing vibes - Very nice and accommodating host with cute dog. The garden and the overall setting of the place was very scenic.
- Jane (10/5): - This was a comfortable, clean, and quiet place to stay. The boat was very kind and generous. The location had beautiful surroundings.
- Darya (9/5): Everything was great, especially when you're walking the Comino route. But there was no internet. - a wonderful quiet place with a stunning sunset view no internet
- Guest (10/5): Beautiful rustic atmosphere, friendly host. We didnt want to leave. - This was our favorite place we stayed on the coastal camino. It is a little bit away from the main camino route compared to other accomadations but it is absolutly worth the extra few minutes walk. Caroltas house is a beautiful rustic cosy retreat. It looks back down from a hill over the beautiful landscape. Carlota herself was incredibly helpful and friendly, giving us advice on our route etc, and even gave us a lift in her car to a great local restaurant. We had a lovely breakfast chatting to Carlota about out trip, looking at the beautiful view and petting her friendly dog Hara. There is nothing negative we can say about it.
- Anca (10/5): Great stop on the El Camino! - Everything was great!
- the host is very nice and made sure we had everything we needed;
- the made us dinner and it was amazing!
- the view from the garden is absolutely extraordinary!
It’s actually very close to El Camino, but Google Maps took us on a different route.

Brak dostepu do zaplecza kuchennego.
- Mello (9/5): Amazing place, I recommend it to everyone! - It was definitely the best experience I've had so far in an accommodation listed on Booking.com.
Angela welcomed us like family; I didn't feel like a guest, but rather a true visitor.
The house has history and personality, and all of this can be seen in the passion Angela has for maintaining the place.
We shared stories over a good bottle of wine.
It was a gift that the Camino de Santiago brought us, and it is a place I will definitely return to one day.
- Radovan (9/5): -
- Gema Hernández Roldán (6/5): Bonita casa - La casa preciosa. Vistas inmejorables No me sentí cómoda
- Iveta (10/5): -
- Cardoso (4/5): Me arrependi de ter feito check in nesta estadia.
- Barbara (10/5): - Angela is a perfect host. Very kind and full of attention.
- Pauline (10/5): -
- Antti (8/5): - Todella idyllinen paikka, Jara koira ihana.
- Anne (8/5): - Carlotta was lovely! She even made us a very nice dinner for reasonable price! Just be aware that while it’s a nice spot and Carlotta is wonderful, that it’s about a mile straight uphill to her place after a long days hike.
- Eszter (10/5): -
- Colombo (9/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): Lovely. - Host was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We visited the falls/pools nearby for a swim (1 hours walk) which were lovely.
- Marta (10/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Marvilloso. A lovely natural fountain to listen to at night and peaceful night time walks. - The host, Angela, was lovely, kind and most hospitable.
The location of the property is a little tricky to locate, but absolutely gorgeous once up there. The views, the lovely accommodations in her family home (350 years old, if I remember correctly) and all the beautiful flowers and trees.
And Jara, the resident pooch. 🐾🐕
- Kelly (10/5): Angela is an absolute ANGEL. - I don't know where to begin regarding Casa Carlota. I will have to say it is a heck of a climb to Angela's place, I missed her call to pick us up so we walked the hill. Then found out I put in wrong accommodation for our luggage transport, mistake diverted as Angela took another guest into town and picked up our luggage. That evening she offered to take us into town for dinner and pick up later. I absolutely loved this place and highly recommend. Beautiful home.
- Rudolf (5/5): Nevhodné pre camino - Bez WiFi, slabý servis, spoločná kúpeľňa, bez moznosti pouzivania kuchyne. Komplikovaná dostupnosť. Všetko je ďaleko.
- Varicak (10/5): My favourite stay so far - Really beautiful, rustic building. Over 300+ years old. It was clean, dinner was available and there was a beautiful view. Dinner is 15 euro, 5 euro to get your clothes washed. This was my favourite stay on the Camino so far, because the host Angela is so kind and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. Not too far from the Camino path. I really recommend it!
- Sandra (9/5): hospitality & open and helpful - Very beautiful place with a lovely garden and superb view
Our room was very nice and for shared facilities it was very good! It was a bit small for 2 people in the room
- Rahul (8/5): Nice place to stay a night - Beautiful location
Amazing friendly hostess who picked me and the other guests up from a restaurant close by since it’s not easy to find Casa Carlota the first time and it’s up on a hilly slope No wifi
Breakfast could be included esp if the room charge is 70 euros like I paid 😀
- Christian (8/5): -
- Foley (9/5): -
- Rika (10/5): It was so lovely and gave me a great recharge from the Camino. - Angela was so lovely, she couldn’t have been more welcoming.
- Shelly (9/5): - Angela was very kind, picked us up in town so we didn’t have to hike up! If you want an authentic experience in a Spanish home from 350 years ago, this is the place!!!
Angela went way beyond the call of duty and picked one of us up in A Guarda due to knee issues.
- Juan (10/5): Excellent - The facility was clean and well maintained
- Thelma (8/5): Restful, safe and secure - Genuine 350 year old home Hard walking up the hill but host will pick you up if you let her know
- Theresa (6/5): Inconvenient location and too many rules. - The dog and the other guests. The expense of the room and the expense of the food and wine.
- Rickli (10/5): -
- Jemima (9/5): - Angela, the host was incredible. So welcoming and friendly, she even collected me from the nearby town.
Property was beautiful and in a super scenic location.
If you are walking the Camino and need a break from the hostels, I recommend this place.
Dinner was homemade as well - extra special.
- Guido (9/5): - Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.
- Susan (9/5): -
- ojea gonzalez (8/5): -
- Minja (10/5): Wonderful! ❤️ - I really loved this stay. This is a house 350 years old. Everything is really clean. There is a beautiful garden and a view! ❤️
Angela, the host, is a really nice person. The house is up the hill, and she offers riding you with her car.
You can have dinner, she is cooking for you for additional pay. She made us vegan dinner. ❤️
- Joachim (5/5): -
- Cristina (10/5): -
- Valentina (10/5): - I enjoyed staying at Angela's very much. It is right on Camino, exceptionally clean, cosy and comfortable. Angela is a wonderful host, she makes you feel at home. I would definitely stay again! Nothing to share.
- Jim (10/5): Good times - Rustic Spanish casa. Angela was very welcoming and even made dinner for an extra charge
- Dariusz (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - Milá a ochotná pani ubytovateľka, pekná lokalita, určite sa oplatí navštíviť.
- irena (10/5): !Todo impecable y perfecto!
Nada
- Annelize (9/5): Excellent - I walked the camino with my daughter and her friend. Staying over at Casa Carlota was very special, with the host - Angela, being lovely and welcoming. The house is over 300 years old and worth visiting.
- luz Elisabet (10/5): -
- Victoria (10/5): Amazing stay! - Our stay at Angela’s was wonderful ! She really made us feel comfortable and honestly a little bit like family! She was so sweet and caring. The area is full of history that she is more than willing to explain! You have everything you need for an authentic stay in Galicia!! Nothing to share!
- Claire (9/5): - The house was amazing, and the host was super helpful. Dinner was very fresh with seasonal vegetables. Just what you need after lots of beige food. The beds were very comfy, and the room was very spacious. Although it was very hot outside(30c), the inside was fairly cool. Although not essential, there was no WiFi. Don't let this put you off staying at this beautiful house.
- Armando (9/5): -
- Aya (10/5): Heartwarming hospitality - The host Angela was so kind person. I stayed in this accommodation on my way Camino. She contacted to me and picked me up on my main route. And spent time to talk with me,and go for a walk. I will never forget her heartwarming hospitality. And location is so good for relaxing. It's a great place to relax, it's in a quiet village away from the main road so the sounds of nature will soothe you. There is no wifi but you can connect at a restaurant about 15 minutes walk away.
- ESTEFANIA (10/5): - El lugar rodeaddisimo de naturaleza y animales. Ángela cuida de esta casa con alma.
Volvería sin dudarlo.
- Shadbolt (10/5): Exceptional - Picked us up from the Camino, great service! Lovely dinner provided. Couldn’t have been more helpful.
- Renato (10/5): -
- Kay (10/5): Great stay and warm host! We didn’t want to leave. - The history, the building is 300 years old and the hosts great great great grandmother lived there and it’s so lovely! We had to leave! 😂
Our host made us feel so at home.
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Sophia (10/5): - I had a wonderful time at Casa Carlota. The host Angela and her sweet dog Yara make you feel like you're coming home. Angela contacted me at midday to let me know that she could pick me up on the main road. The house is a little closer to the forest, and to save me a small detour (which would have been short anyway) she offered to pick me up in her car. The house is beautifully situated and offers the perfect environment to recover from the Camino. In the evening she cooked me a delicious soup and a hearty dinner. We had a lovely chat for a long time and went for a walk. On the way she told me a lot about the area. It's nice to understand the area even better through locals. I walked the Way of St. James, and the best thing on the way is the lovely, warm-hearted encounters - and that's exactly what you have when you stop off at Angela's at Casa Carlota! Thank you for everything!
- Tessa (9/5): - The property was in a beautiful location overlooking the sea and slightly secluded which made for a quiet relaxing evening but with easy access to the Camino the next morning! The owner even picked us up so we didn’t have to walk up the hill and gave us a tour of the area to orient ourselves and then cooked us an amazing dinner! It was the perfect stop on our Camino journey! Nothing!
- Wendy (10/5): Fabulous stay. Twas hot and so Angela came to get me and save me the extra walk up the hill which was hugely appreciated - Super comfortable- best sleep I’ve had on Portuguese Camino! Dinner available on site. Lovely garden to sit in and watch sunset over the ocean
- Silvie (8/5): - Krásný 350 let starý dům, měl své kouzlo, čisté povlečení Bez Wi-Fi, společná koupelna , za tu cenu bych čekala vlastní koupelnu
- Neil (2/5): We left a day early. - Not much. Very isolated. Poor facilities. No wifi. No where to cook or relax or eat.
- Arsov (10/5): -
