Guest Reviews
- Standen (5/5): Good location. Could be cleaner - Location for us for the event we were attending was perfect. Very quiet area. Off road parking. Dog hairs on duvet covers. Floors not clean. Strong smell of dogs on sofa. Generally tatty. Ripped curtains.
- Tracy (4/5): Potential to be really lovely accommodation in a great location, but spoiled by cleanliness issues and lack of attention - The Hideaway is in a great location, close to beautiful Rossall Beach, the tram line and local amenities. Quiet residential area. Beds were comfortable. The property is dog friendly and has outside space for them to enjoy. Communication by messaging with the host via booking.com prior to arrival was good and responsive. Unfortunately the photographs of the property are misleading and give the impression that all is clean, shiny and new. In fact, it is overall somewhat tired and worn and in need of attention - including furniture.
As indicated in the May 2025 review, cleanliness leaves much to be desired. This is not accepted by the host, who I eventually spoke to on the phone (having been advised by the person who initially answered the mphone that they are no longer involved in the property). We requested further cleaning during our stay but this was not to our satisfaction.
For example, we were told that all furniture had been pulled out for thorough cleaning but there was evidence that this wasn’t the case.
While the key areas such as bath, shower and toilet themselves, and the beds/bedding, were clean, there are areas of the accommodation which clearly haven’t been cleaned for a significant amount of time - including the patio doors which were covered in what were clearly marks left by previous pets.
Had we been able to easily source other accommodation to meet our needs (with an elderly guest requiring facilities all on one level and having a dog with us) we would have checked out earlier. This was a special trip that had been planned for some time.
We were a party of four and while the sleeping accommodation was fine for our needs, the lounge/dining space is fairly small. I would think that a party of six would struggle.
- Katy (6/5): Good facilities, more attention to detail needed in terms of cleanliness. - The communication from the owners was good,
The accommodation provided everything we needed for a one night stay. The cleanliness let the property down e.g. food on the floor under the table, a half drank can of coke in one of the bedside drawers, a dog poo in the outdoor area and the seating facilities and hot tub were covered in bird poo, bird feathers and tree sap.
The bedroom facilities are plenty spacious allowing for six people to sleep but the seating and eating areas do not cater for this. Four people would be a push in the living/ dining room.
- Hannah (9/5): Amazing - Cosy and clean
Easy to find
- Katrina (10/5): Perfect little hideaway with a brilliant hot tub! - Fantastic location very close to the beach, shops and tram. Owner was contactable at all times and sorted any issues we had out! Property is very clean and big in size for the two of us. Hot tub was pre warmed and a perfect private location for it. Huge bathroom equip with towels. Leaving milk and brew items was a nice touch! Tv all loaded with Netflix and sky perfect for a cosy night in! Would definitely recommend staying at the hideaway! Nothing
- Samantha (8/5): Very good - The Hideaway was a lovely little place to stay that had almost everything we needed to make it our home away from home. There's a well equipped kitchen with a washing machine and a fridge with small freezer compartment. There's toiletries, towels, bedding.
The beds were comfy, especially the back bedroom beside the living room.
Milk was left for us which was lovely and saved us a trip to the shop after a long 4 hour drive.
The bathroom was amazing 🤩 great size with a bath and a shower, but there was no extractor fan and after one shower the room looked like a dark foggy morning so I'd definitely recommend opening some windows.
It's in a perfect location. 5 minute walk to the nearest tram stop and a 6 minute walk to Cleveleys beach. There's a local shop opposite the tram stop that had almost all the necessities and some bigger supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl were a few tram stops away.
Parking was perfect as we had the driveway so we knew the car was safe being left as it was off the road.
The hot tub was a lovely bonus and was ready to use once we arrived.
Central heating was easy to understand, although we only needed to use it once.
We requested a cot bed and on arrival it wasn't there but the host very quickly sorted it for us and dropped it off the next day.
We would definitely recommend this place to others and would consider staying again. None of these are complaints as such, just thoughts on what could be done in the future to make stays that little bit more comfortable.
The pictures on the listing make the living room in particular look a lot bigger than it is, it is in fact a very very small room and we struggled to fit 6 comfortably on the sofa.
The lock on the gate was sometimes a bit temperamental, we thought we were locked in one morning but after a few wriggles we got it to unlock.
Although a dishwasher isn't essential it would have been an added luxury as we usually have one in other places we have stayed.
A hoover would have been good to give the place a good tidy up during our stay and before leaving, it was quite difficult to use the dustpan and brush around the whole house.
Some wooden spoons would have been handy in the kitchen for cooking with, as I was using a serving spoon to mix with.
The fridge was very small considering this is a home for 6 people, a larger fridge freezer would be a great addition in the future.
An extractor fan would be a good addition to the bathroom in the future.
Although most of the house was clean there were parts that were missed and the washing machine could possibly be quickly wiped down after each stay. I did a load of washing and it came out covered in dog hairs and there was a fidget toy stuck in the rubber seal.
One of the headboards on the double bed was broken and slanted making it look odd.
There were a load of daddy long legs everywhere and a few spiders and other bugs on the walls and ceilings, I know it's difficult this time of year to prevent these from entering the home but it doesn't give the best impression walking through the front door to be greeted by 6 daddy long legs and 2 spiders in the hall alone 🙈
I hope I don't come across as having a big moan, we really did have a lovely stay all these things aside 😊
- Sajeda (10/5): Our kids aged between 10&20 loved everything about the place and have favourited ‘The Hideaway’ - Very welcoming. Beach near by. Plenty supermarkets around the corner. Lovely Hot Tub warm and steaming, ready for use as soon as you reach. Little gallon of complimentary milk in the fridge to start off with for those travelling from far. Overall good value for money. Will definitely return in future. Thank you Hosts
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
