Guest Reviews
- Valerie (10/5): A very warm comfortable home and we enjoyed our stay very much - The house was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need. It felt just like home from home Nothing to dislike
- Alison (10/5): We had a lovely stay here, would stay again. - It had everything we needed and in a great location.
Newcastle is a lovely area with lots of nice places to eat within a walkable distance from the house. One of the things that drew me to the property was the wood burning stove but unfortunately it had just need added so we couldn’t use it as plaster was still drying out.

- Timothy (10/5): Graet property in a beutiful location. - Great location, very comfortable and well presented property and the hosts were very helpful and responsive.
- David (9/5): Great stay in a lovely place, enhanced by having excellent accommodation. - The property had an excellent location near the countryside outside Newcastle but just 10-15 minutes walk from the bars and restaurants of the centre. The property was very comfortable with good facilities and also a nice outdoor space to sit. The only thing that could be improved would be to have a screen or curtain for the over-bath shower in the family bathroom. In practice, this was not a big problem as there is a good shower in the master bedroom en suite.
- Michael (10/5): You must stay here! - Beautiful location, felt like home as soon as we arrived! No complaints whatsoever!
- Joyce (9/5): Very enjoyable - Good location and well equipped Only 2 bath towels
- May (9/5): Superb - The house was clean and comfortable and hosts were thoughtful leaving welcome treat and milk. Close to all attractions and the grandchildren enjoyed games for them to play. Would recommend to others.
- Christine (9/5): A great house in an amazing area - It was much more spacious than I was expecting. The beds were very comfortable and the shower pressure was amazing. We weren't given the use of the fireplace.
- Lucy (10/5): Highly recommend this property, location & hosts. We will return in the near future - A spotless and home from home accommodation, everything you could possibly need in the house. Amazing surrounding scenery. Easy walk to Newcastle centre & beach & everyone we met were really friendly and helpful. Days out so many locations to choose from. Easy drive to & from Dublin Ferry Port/Terminal. Highly recommend this property we will certainly be back in the near future. Finally hosts Colin & Lorraine were very amazing hosts very helpful & kind Nothing, no faults at all
- Joanne (10/5): Comfortable, well-equipped house in a great location. Home owners were fantastic at staying in touch. - Superb location. House is comfortable and has everything you can possibly need. Great little garden to catch some afternoon sunshine. The main bathroom could benefit from a shower curtain and the shower head being attached to the wall. Everyone ended up showering in the en-suite.
- Laura (10/5): Very friendly hosts, lovely house, excellent location - Clean, bright and tidy N/a
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chantelle (9/5): Lovely and peaceful - Lovely house with a great garden
- Bills (10/5): Loved the place - Loved how comfy it was and the fact there is a couple of bathrooms Quite a bit of walk from town. Make sure you have directions up
- Carol (9/5): Superb - We liked the location and comfortable, well equipped accomodation. Our grandson enjoyed the games and books provided. Only tiny thing we noticed was when using the hairdryer there wasn't a socket near a mirror.
- Julie (10/5): Brilliant stay at the mourne snug 😁 - We liked the location, it was handy for the town. The house was fantastic, the hosts had supplied everything you could possibly need, from the kitchen crockery/utensils and the welcome pack of tea/coffee and biscuits to games and books, the beds were comfortable and the bedrooms had plenty of storage space. The house was warm and welcoming, and we would definitely recommend a stay here, we will be back. The only thing we could say is that the fan in the en suite does stay on for quite a while after you turned the light off, which wasn't great especially when you were going to bed,
- Eleonore (10/5): Exceptional - Great location to hike in the Mourne Mountains and 10 min walk to main street. Spacious house, very well equipped. We loved our stay at Mourne Snug!

Nothing
- Jane (9/5): Superb - The property is lovely and clean, being home from home. The owners have a great selection of books and activities for wet days. Our group of 6 have been walking the St Patrick's Way, and this walk as well as the Mourne Way and Newcastle Way just passes outside the development, which is ideal when walking from the mountains. The location is only 10 mins from the centre of Newcastle and the beach. The heating was great and hot water enough for 6 showers in a row, keeping the heat throughout. It is a lovely property. Due to the wet weather we were drenched and so a hot house and water was ideal with the clothes horse and radiators to dry enough of our clothes and shoes to wear the next day though it might be easier for a dryer although not necessary as the clothes horse worked well. The TV was a bit tempermental with volume though and it's on hdmi2 to watch TV.
- Carolyn (10/5): It was a great week - Comforfable Nothing
- Paul (10/5): relaxing stay - it was clean tidy had everything I needed it was a home from home nothing
- Lawrence (10/5): The Snug is Special. - Mournes Snug was everything and more that you could ask for, the location was nice and quiet, just out of town but only a short walk into the main Street and promenade, the house had every convenience and it was spotless and perfectly clean. We would highly recommend this beautiful home and will plan in the future to return, Thankyou Colin and Lorraine and Booking.com for a perfect break. Gail and Lawrence Lovely clean towels, quiet location, of street parking, priced fairly, great information from Colin and Lorraine and Booking.com the view of the Mountains from the front of the house was simply stunning, Newcastle is a beautiful seaside town and a great place for a getaway.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Fox (10/5): an amazing stay at an amazing house, with fantastic hosts.. thank you.. - The accommodation was faultless, it was clean, full of every amenity required, luxurious fittings and superb location, great trip was had by all, and can't wait to go back for our next stay.
5-10 minute walk to Newcastle promenade, close to all the local tennis centre and peaceful, quiet and relaxing setting for all the family. there was nothing not to like about this place, was amazing.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -

- Patricia (10/5): Excellent - Great facilities comfortable Nothing everything good
- Lewis (10/5): Brilliant short holiday for family of 4 - The house is ideally located, a short ten minute walk from the main street and within easy driving distance to all local attractions and amenities, with brilliant views on to Slieve Donard. Inside, it is excellently furnished with plenty of space and everything you could need for your stay catered for including high speed WiFi.
Hosts were very accommodating including nice personal touches for our two daughters such as leaving reading books in their room and some chocolates for when we arrived.
Overall a great stay and we will definitely be wanting to come back.
- Carla (10/5): Amazing place for families highly recommend. - I loved how homely it felt and was great for the kids the garden and the games the kids loved having games nights. Beds were absolutely comfortable i wanted to bring them home. Everything you need was there, even better when it's just a 5 minute walk from the town centre.
