Guest Reviews
- Abby (10/5): - The House was clean and well maintained. It has that "castle/manor" vibe. The Garden is even an added plus! Beautiful especially in spring. The owner is very accommodating. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
- Ackerman (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing property
- Denisa Lucia (10/5): Great stay - Location and the house is beautiful
- Delia (10/5): A relaxing stay at a beautiful period home - Absolutely beautiful house, immaculately clean, and very welcoming! The owner was really lovely, and close by if we needed her. The house is so close to everything Truro has to offer - a few minutes walk into the town centre, and yet so peaceful. The house had everything we needed, and we won't hesitate to return!
- Shirley (8/5): Had a great stay. - Quirky decor. Lovely, clean and warm with comfortable beds. Had everything we needed. No lock on the looðŸ¤
- Adam (10/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): Characterful house, impeccably clean, handy location and parking. - Really lovely house, interesting decor, and ideally situated a 10 min walk from town. Great selection of books that we enjoyed perusing and comfortable and adequate seating in the living room. One of the cleanest places I've ever stayed. I had a question the day before and the hosts got back to me straight away. Literally just a couple of very minor things which are hopefully easy to rectify :) No locks on bathroom doors and bedroom doors kept swinging open. We found things to put against them but it was a bit of a faff. There is lots of beautiful furniture everywhere but no coasters to put cups on (although there were some magazines that we used).
- Rosemary (10/5): Very enjoyable. -
- Brian (8/5): Comfortable and great location - N/A
- Aidan (10/5): - Exceptionally clean house. Everything was really well looked after. Well equipped kitchen and walkable to the station and the town.
We were very grateful for our stay.
- Jo (10/5): One of the best places I’ve ever stayed, loved it! Will definitely be back again (multiple times) over the coming years! - Beautiful house, like staying in a time capsule or an interactive museum. Reminded me of the good old days!
Such a warm and lovely feeling to the property.
Stayed here on the last night before my daughter moved to uni and couldn’t have found a better place with such a lovely feeling.
Host was amazing and so friendly.
One of the most comfortable nights sleep I’ve had in a long long time!
Brilliant location Absolutely nothing.
Loved this place!!

- jill (10/5): - The beauty of the house. Showing my grandchildren how you would use the phone in the hall. The space was phenominal. So many memories of visiting my grandparents. As you sleep 5, more dining chairs. A few board games is always good. Umbrella for the garden. Could do with hand rail for last two steps into the garden.

- Canis (9/5): Superb -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - The house was absolutely immaculate and we loved the original features of the house and comfortability. We also met the host who was a lovely lady and would highly recommend
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable and interesting house, in great location for exploring Truro and the rest of Cornwall. - The house is very comfortable and decorated and furnished in an interesting way. The location for Truro city centre is great. The hosts were friendly and we had an enjoyable stay. In Booking.com the keys are listed in a key safe and I assumed that the listed pin was the code. This was not the case, so needs updating on Booking.com. The hosts messaged me that the keys were in a secret location after I failed with the key safe. So not a huge problem.
- Peter (10/5): Perfect city hideaway - This is the perfect getaway accommodation in a lovely, quiet area of Truro. We loved the ambience and eclectic furnishings. The amount of space in this property is amazing. Beautifully clean and comfortable with fantastic gardens with the added bonus of parking on the private driveway. Not anything to dislike here.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Eclectic house. Very helpful landlord.
- Gareth (8/5): 1 pleasant nights stay - The condition and cleanliness of the place Leak from the kitchen roof above the toaster and kettle
- Geraint (9/5): Spacious, clean, full of character. Photos are accurate but don’t do the space justice. Like stepping back in time. -
- Alan (9/5): made for a lovely weekend home from home - Friendly host, very helpful, property could be seen as a quirky property but lovely family home and garden and spacious.
- White (8/5): Very good -
- Paula (10/5): Wanted to stay in Truro as we were watching a show at hall for cornwall and make a evening of it - Great character house
Loved it
- Ailsa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sae (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were so friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, we felt like we went home for the holidays! The house was delightfully decorated for Christmas, kept very warm, and very clean and comfortable. We had the best Christmas in this house, thanks a lot!
- Xuerong (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maxine (10/5): The property decor was a delightful surprise - Very unusual quirky property. Furnished with lots of vintage stuff Lots of ornaments but still very spacious and comfortable.
- Miranda (8/5): Nice homely stop off . Helpful and friendly coordinators for the property - Homely authentic home. Plenty of space .
- David (8/5): Large house a short walk down into town. - Short walk down into town or up the hill to the nearest supermarket. House is large with a garden. Furniture and furnishings rather old fashioned but the house is as it is shown in the photos so no complaints really. Bathroom shower temperature can be difficult to set. Parking is difficult due to the narrow gate opening and planting. It felt like every surface had nic knacks on it.
- Colin (10/5): An excellent place to stay - Lovely property and excellent location.
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely place to stay - Clean and tidy, the decor may not be to everyone’s taste but we liked it. As it’s that’s time of year it was a little chilly, so it would have been nice to have the heating on when we arrived. We managed to find how to turn it up as it was set to 5 degrees but it was too late to make any difference as it’s a big house to heat.
- Lindsay (10/5): Art deco gem, very quiet, close to the station. - It’s a art deco gem. Quirky but special.
- Vasile (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (9/5): Wonderful experience in a beautiful house - Wet friendly hosts. Beautiful house in a great location. Slightly hard to park as narrow driveway
- Paula (10/5): Great location easy to walk into town spacious house with loads of character - The property was a great character house
Loved it
- Usama (7/5): Good - Very very hospitable hosts. Great atmosphere in the house. There were some water leaking from the bathroom into the kitchen near some sensitive electrical.
- Stephen (8/5): A Halcyon Weekend - The property was spotlessly clean, the beds were comfortable, there were plenty of amenities in the house and shops nearby.
The house itself is like a museum of curios with no single theme which fantastically quirky and fun to be around. The shower/bath taps need to be replaced.
The driveway is difficult to get onto and takes a bit of practice
- Blažaitis (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful decor, great atmosphere, great value for money. Overall, best booking.com experience so far
- Tom (10/5): Beautifully appointed boutique house close to central Truro. - Beautifully appointed, stylish and quirky house. Loved the design, layout, furnishings and extensive books and ornaments Nothing really not to like
- Johanna (10/5): Stepping into a quirky hostorical home - The first reaction we had, when we visited the house was "WOW", we just could not believe that this is a holiday rental home. It seems as if the owner just stepped out of this beautifully decorated and perfectly equipped and quirky home. Our first choice was which bedrooms to use which are themed (garden, oriental, maps) and then which comfy char or sofa to lounge on. The kitchen is fully equipped even with copper cookingpots and the traditional blue and white hand painted dishes, you can sit out in the garden and explore cornwall from this very central location. The rooms are filled with knickknacks, books (fantasy and others!), DVDs. We really loved it here and were sad to leave. There is a big supermarket 5 minutes by car away and you can walk into Truro centre in 10-15 minutes. Thanks to our lovely hosts Barbara and Peter for this opportunity! Very minor things: on the main floor the toilet is through 2 doors next to the kitchen (because the house is so old) and you only can wash your hands in the kitchen. The driveway is very narrow, so you may need assistance parking your car there. Be aware: there are A LOT of little knickknacks and antique breakable things in this house, so you have to keep a close watch on your little ones. The mattresses maybe need replacing in the garden room. This seems to be the first season as a rental as some things needed clarification, but the hosts Barbara and Peter are right next door and very helpful.
- Matthew (9/5): Halcyon Days Retreat - With really friendly and helpful hosts, Halcyon Days is a very comfortable holiday home and we found it convenient for visiting Falmouth and the Lizard Peninsula area by car.
It's about a 10 minute walk into Truro.
The house is spacious, luxurious and oozing with features of interest and character. The shower was a bit tricky to set a comfortable temperature.
The TV was difficult to set up, but the hosts had offered to assist (it was too late at night to ask them for help you see).
- Celia (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Ideal location, short walk downhill to Truro. - A unique property in a quiet location, very clean and comfortable. Old style comfort, beautiful garden.
- Wiola (10/5): Fairy-tale and magic place!!! - This house is just magnificent, wonderful! It is decorated and furnished in exquisite taste.
From the moment of opening the front door we couldn't believe that it was true... that we could stay there. Everything is fabulous, terrific! Unique and extraordinary interiors make you feel the true spirit of England and Cornwall.
You can find literally everything that you need and the lovely host Barbara lives next door and is extremely helpful.
The whole house is spotless and has enormously comfortable beds, sofas and armchairs.
It is a truly remarkable place, we had a glorious time there.
This is genuinely my dream house. nothing! I loved everything!
- Catriona (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable, lovely host, amazing time capsule house
- Chris (7/5): Large house with plenty of space and character for a excellent price - Nice big house with plenty of character, friendly helpful host
