Guest Reviews
- Heather (8/5): - Lovely central location with parking and a lovely big room. We felt very exposed in the bathroom. It needed a blind not just frosted glass as the room is overlooked.
- Paul (9/5): Good location, great staff, delicious breakfasts, comfortable clean room and car parking. - Comfortable, modern, clean, good sized bedroom and en-suite The beautiful bathroom mirror was very high! Had to stand on toes to see.
- Rob (9/5): Great place, great people and fab breakfast. Highly recommended and good value for money. - Great place! Ideal for travelling onwards as ferry port close by. Near to town centre so easy reach of restaurants etc if you want to eat out. Nothing.
- john (8/5): Good bed slept well, good breakfast - Good location excellent shower nice staff A lot of stairs a
- MARK (7/5): Enjoyable time had. - Location & food especially the breakfast. Loud outside noise.
- Tony (8/5): - Food nice Booked a table but someone else was put in our place
- Stephen (6/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Great location. Traditional old pub. - Location was good.
In close proximity to the railway station.
Easy walking distance to High Street.
Parking on site. First come first served.
Very clean and comfortable room (8). We expected a varied menu at the location and would have eaten in however the only menu we saw was for pizza.
Unavoidable, however two flights of steep stairs to room.
Biggest bird poops ever on car (in pub car park) overnight.
- Peter (9/5): -
- Marion (10/5): Definitely recommend - Rooms were very clean as were all other areas. Staff were welcoming, friendly and really attentive. Breakfast really lovely. I'm vegetarian and my friend vegan, we were both catered for and the staff were very helpful , even asking if there was anything else they could get in for us. Location was very convenient for shops, harbour and train station. Would definitely recommend Bosuns Chair and would stay again. Mattress was a bit on the firm side for me.
- Bailey (8/5): -
- John (9/5): -
- Tilly (9/5): - Staff & location excellent 👌 👏
- David (9/5): Lovely rooms above a pub in the centre of the town. - Great location in the centre of Lymington. Excellent parking available. Staff were great and the breakfast was fantastic. The stairs to the room are quite narrow and awkward with luggage, but we managed ok.
- Jenny (8/5): - Spacious room, clean, nice towels and bedding, lovely breakfast, great location, friendly staff. Enjoyed the tea making facilities too. It was quite warm! No in-between blind so we could get changed without having to shut the whole blind and then it got dark!
- Derek (9/5): Stayed for a family visit , enjoyed our stay very good breakfast - Lovely friendly pub accommodation Nothing
- Rosemary (9/5): Overnight stay at the Bosuns Chair - I liked the good sized room with ensuite and the close proximity to the Quay shops and old pubs. The full English breakfast was wonderfully cooked and presented with a lovely polite waitress serving us. I also liked the modern kettle, coffee machine. The special lighting was brilliant for reading in bed. A lot of thought to detail has gone into the rooms amenities. The ambience with heron wallpaper and an owl. Lovely clean bedding and plenty of towels. The stairs were a bit of a climb with a suitcase, but not a real problem as we still managed. Although a sea view mentioned you could just see the ships sails and countryside.
- Allen (9/5): -
- shan (9/5): - Lovely room Noise from pub during evening
- Nigel (8/5): We enjoyed our stay at the Bosun's Chair and would recommend it to others. - The room was relatively spacious and the bed was comfortable. Despite the accommodation being very close to the railway station this did not cause any problem in respect of the noise levels.
The breakfasts were very good and made a nice start to the day.
The location is excellent, being close to the marina and the shops.
- Lloyd (10/5): -
- Mandy (8/5): -
- Beverley (8/5): Location good near to railway station and shops and off-road parking provided. - Clean, due to it being an old building lots of fire doors in accommodation. Only serving pizzas in the week, meals apparently served weekends.
- jonathan (9/5): Staff member Teagen was very good at breakfast service - Very nice staff
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely exceptional stay in a beautiful place with excellent service. - Great location.
Beautiful rooms and excellent food.
Lovely staff who made sure we had everything we needed.
We had a fantastic time ☺️ Nothing.
- Zoe (7/5): - Breakfast and service was good. Coffee not so good! Coffee
- Alan (10/5): - Lovely staff, comfy rooms great breakfast.
- Duncan (10/5): Comfotable, friendly and in a great location. - A very nice spacious room that was clean and comfortable. Tea making facilities and some very nice biscuits were included, the car park was great, but it pays to arrive before the evening, because it can be busy. Breakfasts were excellent and all the staff including the owner were very friendly and eager to help us. The location is very close to the main high street, shops, restaurants and the harbour and there are some salt marshes that are great for bird watching within walking distance. They only serve pizza on weekdays, so we couldn't try the restaurant, I'm sure the food will be great at the weekend, because breakfast is excellent and the staff suggested another pub where the food was very good.
- Mick (10/5): Overall a great stay & I will be back! - A great hotel & bar. Really good beer & food. My single room was just right. The shower was excellent apart from the door. I have a beer belly & it was a real squeeze to get in.
- Dave (10/5): Great stay, friendly staff, perfect location. - I have stayed at the Bosuns on and off for about 15yrs. The current proprietors are doing an excellent job. The rooms have all be decorated and there is a boutique feel about the place. The staff are delightful and very friendly. Breakfast was very good, well presented and plenty of it. The location is ideal for access to trains, buses, ferries and more importantly Lymington on foot. I left my sunglasses in my room after leaving and these have been returned to me. Thank you for a great weekend and see you again soon in September. There is nothing for me to comment on
- Noo (10/5): - Great little local pub, interesting staff, super clean comfy rooms Floor boards a little creaky
- Paul (8/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Marion (10/5): Fabulous!!! - Everything! Staff were wonderful!
- sandra (7/5): Value for money but ultimately a room above a pub! - Great breakfast, very comfortable beds. Good bed linen & towels. Staff very helpful & welcoming. Aspects of the rooms were in need of sorting out, trailing wires, lack of sockets in right places. Just needing repositioning of bed to resolve. Rattling windows & squeaking pub sign in wind !
- Sharon (8/5): A short but very enjoyable visit. - Central and lovely staff. Excellent breakfast Shower was difficult- water ran freezing cold then boiling hot. Couldn’t adjust it
- Stuart (7/5): Was ok but not for me again - Rooms ok a bit more expensive without any food being served No evening menu
- Lorraine (9/5): Great location - The rooms were spacious and beds comfy with enormous bath towels. Thank you
- kaur (10/5): 10/10 stay, amazing stay and such kind staff. - I had travelled for work and wanted to have a location near to town and station, this place is just by the station and such a comfy place to stay, I was greeted by the front desk staff Louise, the usual checkin time was 14:00 but I had meeting at 15:00, and upon request they let me check in early after I had travelled 4 hours, thanks to the team I had an amazing stay, even the breakfast was so nice and fresh, they made the whole experience wonderful. Had no complaints only thing which can be added is wifi for TV connection.
- Malcolm (9/5): Stayed here many times never disappoints totally recommended - Location great room /shower great sporting location
Excellent breakfast Nothing
- Catherine (10/5): Perfect for what I wanted: a no-fuss, super comfortable, stay near to the centre of Lymington. - A peaceful and very comfortable single room, which had been recently refurbished. Great value and a perfect location in a quiet street next to the railway station. It’s a really lovely accommodation option in the heart of Lymington. Exceptionally good breakfast with lots of choice (tasty healthy options through to the usual “full English”). Excellent choice of good coffee. Really lovely, helpful and efficient staff.
- Laurie (9/5): Really comfortable stay in a great location. - The breakfast (full English) was one of the best we’ve had in ages.
Parking was a bonus.
It’s not flash but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
What more do you need?? Price was a bit high but that’s Lymington.
Either pay it or go somewhere else.

- c3550c3194147105b85e16d2c1f7377d (9/5): - Beautiful room, clean and spacious, close to the train station and the best breakfast we've had in a long time
- d9c62caab8f772c0a5e54eab57f0007e (9/5): Great location and lovely staff. - Great location, clean and spacious room. Fantastic breakfast and lovely staff. Room 1 was lovely, but right above the bar. No good if you’re a light sleeper and want to drop off before 10.30 (weekday)! Ask for a room at the back or maybe the higher floor.
- 2b12026c181772e2b295a3e7440b3550 (10/5): Excellent spot for all things in Lymington. - Great location for the Ferry next morning. Very clean property and room. Excellent breakfast. Car Park was large. Good spot for anything you wanted to do or see in Lymington. Even though it was a pub, I could not hear anything in my room. This is a pub and I found it very expensive for drinks. Maybe because I'm from the north of England?

- a1936b7173ed7277d25cb4a79be30c6f (10/5): 5* - Beautiful place to stay very friendly staff, breakfast was excellent.
Room was perfect very clean and we had everything we needed.
Would definitely stay again easy access from train station just off the high street which is the perfect position.all in all 5* stay thank you. Nothing every thing we needed for our stay was available

- Christopher (10/5): Great location and a great place to stay ! - When you walk in, it is always nice to be met with a smile and a friendly greeting. The team at the Bosun's Chair are exceptional. My room was clean, comfortable and it was the first time for months l had a decent nights sleep. Breakfast...awesome !
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Robin (9/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Nice room, comfy bed and good hospitality tray in room.
Breakfast was very good. There's a banging door right up to pub shutting time, which resounded through my room.
A sift closing mechanism needs fitting on the door(s).
- Stuart (8/5): Great location. Nice dog friendly rooms and lovely will stay again. - Nice large clean rooms above a pub. 5 minute walk to the Quay where there are a number of good bars and restaurants. Very nice breakfast some good menu choices and very dog friendly. The pub and gardens were very busy but didn’t really interfere with our stay. We thought that the £25 additional charge per dog per night was too high although it did include a doggy gift box and additional sausages for the dogs at breakfast !
- Katharine (9/5): Very easy stay - Our room was very quiet, even when the pub was full.
- Iain (10/5): -
- Alan (9/5): -
- Travel-Topia (10/5): Amazing would highly recommend if staying in the area with a dog - Great Service, nothing was a problem, breakfast was amazing, we had a dog also and they looked out for her, with a sausage for breakfast :-)
- Caron (10/5): The staff were so lovely and welcoming!! - Everything was perfect! Can’t think of anything, all good!
- Dominic (10/5): Great pub with a great breakfast - Great feel and location Nothing
- Mark Blackwell (8/5): Great rooms and a must for people who like sports pubs - Staff were extremely helpful and the room we had was excellent and one of the best rooms in a pub we have been to. Garden area out at the back we did not use but seemed very pleasant and secluded. Bar area was a bit too noisy for us (it is a sports bar) with no quiet area for guests not intrerested in sport. If you are a sports fan you will love this pub.
- Helen (10/5): - Cleanliness, gorgeous decor,great breakfast! Nothing
- Chris (10/5): -
- Burgess (9/5): Really enjoyable - Staff were superb, as was the food There wasn't a blind in the bathroom
- laura (8/5): Whistle stop stay for house viewings - The breakfast was well cooked and very tasty. Nice small menu to choose from, and my dog was able to join me in the bar. The room was kitted out with lots of useful touches, water, towels, hanging space and shelving. Ideal in a small single. I must complement the staff, all of whom were very friendly and helpful. I struggled with the pillows - they were not great and could do with replacing. The charge for dogs could be removed/reduced if they didn’t worry about providing a ‘doggy’ welcome pack. A nice touch, but I’d personally prefer not to pay the £25 supplement. Lastly, car parking could be an issue. I was lucky and visited at off peak times, but I imagine later in the season this can be a problem.
- Mike (8/5): We would stay again :) - The bedroom we stayed in was excellent - the bed comfy - and the location was very central. On site parking is a bonus - nothing negative to say about our room. The staff were all super helpful and chatty. When you first walk in - you find a sports pub - basic but clean. We somehow thought the bedrooms would have been a letdown after that first impression - but we were wrong - the bedroom we had (facing the road on the first floor) was very pleasant.
- Jonathan (10/5): Fully recommended - Everything - really good location and friendly staff. Great price for the quality of the room. Excellent drinks and a fantastic breakfast All 10/10
- Kate (10/5): Fantastic place, great value, would definitely stay there again. - Location is brilliant, moments away from the railway station and the town.
Breakfast which is included was amazing, great quality.
Really lovely touch was being remembered by the young woman who is there in the mornings (really sorry, didn't't catch her name) who remembered I was gluten free and that I didn't have milk in my tea.
Really welcoming venue, can't fault it in any way. Nothing
- Robin (8/5): -
- Teresa (10/5): Wonderful time had comfortable and welcoming will definitely stay again am a regular visitor to Lymington. - Local to the front and shops. Clean and welcoming. Only the parking as carpark so small but not a big issue stayed here several times.
- Michael (9/5): -

- Grazyna (10/5): Fabulous pub with b&b - Fabulously renovated bedrooms. Sparkling clean with comfortable beds. Great location. Superb breakfast. Friendly staff. Nothing
- brian (8/5): Comfortable, didn’t require breakfast as we left before 6.00am - Only evening menu is for pizza
- Jan (9/5): An excellent overnight stay and would highly recommend it. - Breakfast was excellent as were all the facilities and the staff were very helpful. Will definitely be staying there again. Would have preferred a walk-in shower.
- Diane (10/5): Clean and comfort - The staff always give a warm welcome The room is immaculate Nothing
- David (9/5): A fine place to stay in Lymington which is very convenient for the train station with car parking at the rear. - A fine building in a quiet residential street. We had a fine large room with plenty of furniture and a comfortable large bed, including an en suite bathroom with plenty of hot water and an abundance of towels. The staff were all polite and friendly and the breakfast was excellent and served promptly. There was a rather unpleasant smell on the stairwell which remained throughout our two night stay and the room was extremely cold on arrival and remained so even after I had turned the radiator on. It wasn’t until I asked at reception that I was told to turn the radiator on to number 5 and after that the room warmed up and remained warm throughout our stay.
- Mandy Mercer (9/5): -
- John (8/5): -
- Nicky White (9/5): Great place to stay, near all amenities!! - This was a short walk from Lymington Town railway station, which is very handy!! It's also a short walk, uphill, to the main Street with pubs, cafes and shops, mostly independent!! The bus stop isn't far either just up the top of the road, with buses going to Bournemouth and Southampton!! Which both go through lovely places like Chhristchurch to get off and explore!! There wasn't anything we didn't really like here!
- louisa (8/5): Good for a 1 night stay in centre of Lymington - Very comfortable bed
Nice to have a decent cup and saucer in room
There was a slight drain smell in the room which is why I cannot give full marks
The breakfast was excellent Smell in room
Quite noisy in the eve when bar occupied.
