Guest Reviews
- Jenna (9/5): Overall, this was a great place to stay! - Great location with cool decor! The host was very communicative and helpful. The beds were a bit firm for our tastes. Parking on the street was difficult if you’re not used to the narrow roads.

- Samuel (10/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Fiona (9/5): -
- Ruth (9/5): Quirky, comfortable and convenient - It was within a short walk of everything you’d need and want to see in York. Nothing
- Olivia (10/5): Stunning beautiful stay! We loved it and will be back!!! - EVERYTHING!! we absolutely loved our stay here, location was fantastic, property was stunning & beds were very comfortable! Couldn’t recommend it enough! Nothing bad to note at all!
- Amber (10/5): -
- melanie (10/5): - Great location and easy parking
- Ujwal (10/5): Unforgettable experience! - I have travelled across Europe and honestly this has been one of the best experiences. If this Accomodation is in your budget range, just blindly go for it and book it! Nil
- Jessica (10/5): Amazing property, close enough to the centre to walk and would definitely recommend. - The property was beautiful. The thought that went into everything in the cottage was exceptional all the little decorations, the notes on how to use appliances, the books in the living room… just exceptional. It had everything we needed and more, I’m sad that we only stayed one night and would definitely like to stay for longer next time. We arrived well before check in time with the plan to just park up and wander into the city but Nigel did everything he could to make sure it was ready for us nearly 3 hours early and even greeted us at the property. He was so welcoming, helped us park, gave us recommendations for food and assured us he wasn’t far away if there was anything else we needed. The stairs are quite steep, which you expect in a cottage and wasn’t a problem to us, but just a warning if anyone struggles with stairs!
- Anna (9/5): Would love Togo back sometime - Warm and cosy. Great location. Communicative host
- Hannah (10/5): Gorgeous homely spot a stone's throw from town - Beautifully decorated space, feels really homely and full of character. The location is superb, walkable into town and down to the Fulford Arms (we were attending an event there). The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay; the main bedroom in particular is a real showstopper. Bed was super comfortable and there's a gorgeous bath in the room, which you really need to make use of! Overall it feels like a home away from home and you can tell how much love and time Nigel and his wife have poured into making the place perfect. Nigel was a fantastic host, meeting us on arrival and giving us a bit of an overview of the property. He gave us some great recommendations for pubs etc and was just such a pleasant and friendly face after a long drive. We will 100% be coming back in the future, I can't recommend it enough! Nothing...!
- vicotia (9/5): Great stay and host that goes above & beyond -

- Paul (9/5): - The location of the property and all the facilities.
The owner was so welcoming and friendly and even dropped us off at the place we wanted to be. The only thing missing (or we couldn't find) was a glass to put our drinks in. But this wasn't that big a deal abd wouldn't put us off going again

- Amy (10/5): Perfect - we will be back! - Great! Brilliant location and free parking!
- Karen (9/5): A perfect spot to walk into York. Quiet and comfortable providing good value for money. - It was well presented with attention to detail. A good size for four people. Care had been taken to provide tea, coffee, milk, bottled water., along with nice soap and shower gels. We liked that throws had been provided in case we were cold.
Good communication from Nigel about parking etc…

Comfortable beds, white fluffy towels all made for a comfy stay. Nigel are host was fabulous, and the location was good. We will definitely be returning. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Joseph (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay — the house was spotless, cosy, and had absolutely everything we needed for a comfortable night. Nigel went above and beyond by allowing us to check in early, which made things so much easier for us. The location was peaceful and convenient, perfect for a relaxing stay. It’s only a shame we were there for just one night, as we would have loved more time to enjoy the place. Highly recommend both the property and the host!
- Kimberley (10/5): - The decor was wonderfully vibrant and interesting. A really fun place to stay! Nigel was great too - so helpful when we arrived.
- Harriet (10/5): Lovely place, perfect location - It was all lovely. The bathroom was clean, the shower had great water pressure, and the hot water didn't run out - plus, the bath towels were a good size (very important)! Beds were comfy and clean, and Nigel checked in with us to see if we needed anything else and was extremely obliging. The snacks, waters, and milk waiting for us were a wonderful touch! The location was perfect, too - felt like a true home from home.
- Martin (10/5): Victorian Farrar Cottage the perfect stay. - The cottage was very well appointed. So clean and everything you could need. So comfortable. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Parking was so convenient and the location was within walking distance to the city centre and restaurants.
The owner was also very informative. Didn't like leaving!!
- Gerard (10/5): -
- Denise (10/5): A property to revisit - Good central location
Exceeded facilities
- Hannah (9/5): - Quirky and comfortable - the bed linen was super soft! The twin beds were a bit short for 2 tall sons!
- Judith (10/5): Excellent - we all thought it was lovely. - Beautifully decorated and lovely extra touches - fresh milk and bottled water in the fridge and croissant plus biscuits and crisps which was unexpected and very welcome. The street parking is very tight - doable but you need to take it slow.
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything!Nigel who was so accommodating and let us know when the house was ready so we could check in early. The house itself was fabulous, was easy to park outside it,and the bottles of water provided were a life saver.😊 Nothing.
- Narelle (10/5): Exceptional - Nigel was a great host, particularly excellent with communication. The cottage was eclectic, friendly, and generously stocked. The location was wonderful, less than 5 minutes walk to the city's Walmgate, leading into the city.
- Stephen (10/5): Ste manchestr - Really nice place full off loads extra bits biscuits etx Nothing
- Oleg (10/5): Best best place we ever stayed - Okay, where should we start? It was like coming to visit parents house. Every little detail was filled with caring and comfort. Nigel made this stay one of the most powerful memories in a whole journey, with concerts and etc’. Basket full of food was waiting for us on arrival date, since we arrived very late, just in case we are hungry. Cherries from his own garden, drinks and etc’? We never experienced such a great vibe at any other stay, and we saw a lot of them. Secondly the house itself is very equipped. Again, as you were at home. Kitchen, bedrooms, of course bathtub and plenty of nice details, made just to make unforgettable experience. Close to the old city, supermarket, plenty of parking. To conclude: if you see it available for booking - hurry up :) thank you Nigel We couldn’t stay more :)
- William (10/5): A Perfect Stay in York - Location was great! Dual bedrooms terrific! Cleanliness first rate! The real gem is the host, Nigel. He was super responsive to our questions. He was anxious to share his knowledge of York and its offerings. He went out of his way to make our stay trouble-free by helping us with parking, suggesting pub food and giving hints on things we might see between our previous stop and York. He was a great host, the best I have had using privately owned properties. The four people in our party all agreed, Nigel is THE BEST! Nothing...
- Lyndzy (10/5): Perfect trip to York. - Nigel went above and beyond to make our stay absolutely fabulous. He is a very kind and thoughtful host and really went the extra mile by providing little treats for my daughters birthday. The house is amazing and is in an excellent location with the bonus of on-street parking too.
- Paula (9/5): Superb - Absolutely lovely house and very clean. The inclusion of a few snacks and drinks was a lovely surprise - very generous host. Great location only 10-15 min walk to all the main tourist attractions. Host was lovely and very communicative. Nothing wrong with the accommodation, but parking on the street was a bit touch and go. We managed to get a space but it was tight and the street is a dead end, so difficult to turn around when it came to leave - pretty much had to reverse out of the street. Worth being aware of if you're driving to the accommodation rather than taking public transport. But otherwise, the location was great.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (10/5): Fabulous find practically in the centre - Lovely quirky decor with attention to detail. Little back yard with sun in the afternoon. Very close to the centre, with fabulous independent restaurants and bars 5mins walk. Very clean and thoughtful welcome bottle in the fridge. Had a fabulous time, thank you Nothing
- Kaaviyaa (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay in York and can’t recommend this place highly enough! It’s clear that a lot of thought and care went into designing the space, everything felt just right, from the cozy atmosphere to the well-thought-out details that made our stay so comfortable.
Nigel was incredibly friendly and welcoming, a fantastic host from start to finish. He even picked us up and kindly offered to keep our bags before the room was ready, which saved us the hassle and cost of luggage storage. That thoughtful gesture really set the tone for a great experience.
If you’re planning a trip to York, you should definitely check this place out. It made our visit extra special!
- Glenn (7/5): Good - Great location. Walking distance to the unique sites of York. Good restaurants nearby. The street parking, while convenient, was not easy to access and difficult to maneuver. The street was narrow and a dead end with no room to turn around. We had to back up a ways to get out.
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanna (10/5): Fab accommodation in York. - Excellent location. Super homely. Felt safe. Well decorated. Host was really welcoming and helpful. Would recommend. Really close to the city walls. Nothing.

- Joanne (10/5): Perfect stay and host. - We absolutely loved our stay, the balance that it struck between homely, cool and welcoming was absolutely spot on, just what we needed for a long family weekend. Everything in the house was super comfortable and accessible, lots of cozy blankets and cushions to snuggle into. We thought the welcome snacks and drinks were lovely and lots of little touches that made using practical aspects of the house easy (everything we needed for the bath, shower, washing and cooking.) Our favourite things were the record player, free standing bath and funky mirror in the twin. Huge shout out to Nigel for being really helpful when we woke up to all the snow, including telling us not to rush and ringing us with updates about the main roads, what a fantastic host. NA

- Jacqueline (9/5): A lovely Christmassy stay in quirky cottage - Great location just out of city centre, easy walking to shops and restaurants/take aways. Host 10/10. Lots of lovely little touches like record player and a bath in the master bedroom. Need to be careful with kids on the stairs. A bit drafty in the living room but the host sorted this by upping the temp on the heating.
- Chris (10/5): A much needed break in a cosy quiet home . - Had a fantastic stay at this property .
The communication from the host was excellent answering any questions I had etc .
The house itself was very unique , had a great vibe and we were all so comfy by the tree watching a film .
The host had generously put a few little extras around making the stay that more special , the beds were comfy and the house was silent which is exactly what we needed .
Would definitely stay again . Nothing , was all good .
- Irantaffy (8/5): Good location, comfortable stay - Love the quirky decor! The vinyl player was a sweet touch and we played nice songs as we unwind. Nigel was really friendly and helpful with the navigation and instructions. Thank you for the snacks basket too. Free parking is available on site, albeit quite difficult to navigate as lane was narrow with cars parked on both sides.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - What a great stay my self and my family had, Nigel was fantastic, very clean and cosy can't wait to stay again
- Alison (10/5): Quiet cosy terrace with free parking right by the city wall - Excellent proximity for walking distance to central area with free parking. Gorgeous funky interior, lovely bedding, plenty of towels, everything you need in the kitchen. Even had a beautiful real Christmas tree alongside the real fire! The only thing I would suggest, a curtain across the front door, to keep the lounge warm.
