Stephen (10/5): Very welcoming and perfect for what we needed. - The rooms were perfect for what we were after - we had two single rooms. The owners and staff were exceptional with their hospitality. The food in the hotel was excellent and breakfast was lovely and worth the extra charge. There was nothing we didn't like. Everything was fine and as expected.
Ruth (10/5): Alston is famous for its Town Hall gigs, and stopping at the pub was a brilliant way to enjoy one - The attic room in the highest pub in the highest town in England! Heaven. Staying in a pub is special, you feel part of the town, and it's rare these days to find accommodation of this type. This pub was very special -- they welcomed us with open arms. Nothing pretentious, just a nice comfy room with amazing views, & great food. The lovely new owners are gradually modernising it throughout, but meanwhile it's wonderful just as it is. we'd have liked two armchairs rather than one. Am sure they'd have provided one if we'd bothered to ask!
