- Yuriy (10/5): Good place! -
- Ruediger (8/5): we enjoyed the stay - wonderful appartment, furnished with love and completely, nothing was missing. the road in front of the house was a bit too present/noisy.
- Jeannette (9/5): Wonderful stay in a very charming house at a great and beautiful location. Thank you Sylvia! - Sylvia is a great and friendly host who met me upon arrival (and upon departure gave me a lift to the train station).
The apartment is very charming, very clean and had a great, spacious and wonderfully equipped kitchen, a charming living/bedroom and a great little bathroom with a very powerful shower. There's a washing machine with detergent, plenty of kitchen towels, and even two aprons hanging on the back of the kitchen door! From the back door you enter a patio that -along with the back of the house - borders on the village creek.
There is an abundance of (tourist) information on the area and the village: and there's a small book library. I added a book for other guests!
Next door is a kiosk, an e-bike rental (which I used: best to email ahead to ensure that you can get one in time and that one of the owners are there to hand it to you). There's a bakery, Thai and local German restaurant and a café as well. A bit further around the corner is a Penny supermarket for all your groceries. And the bus stop (Ortsmitte) is literally in front of the house!
When I arrived it was very hot, when I left it was cold :-). Thankfully there was a good air conditioner and central heating!
The biggest plus is the location: you can hike up to the top of the forest from a road that starts across the street. If you take a right somewhere at the start, before entering the forest, you can walk uphill into the vineyards and admire the beautiful landscape all around you. The whole area is green, peaceful and quiet.
Renting an e-bike is a great way to go through all the charming villages around Zell-Weierbach. You hardly encounter any cars and if you do, they are very mindful of you when you have to bike on the road. It is definitely worth biking to Kehl/Strassbourg, to Gengenbach over the hills, or onto Durbach/Nussbach and taking your time to go offroad and admire the landscape. If you are a light-sensitive sleeper you may want to avoid the high season: the top windows of the house let in the light. It is really the only 'flaw' I could find. If you bring a sleep mask with you, you are good to go!
- Len (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was clean and well organised. Excellent hospitality by the owners. No douchegel / soap. As a business traveller I never bring my own soap/shower cream etc.
