Guest Reviews
- Susan (10/5): Loved it so much have booked up for a break in July - Gorgeous cottage. Location excellent. Great communication between owner.
- Catherine (8/5): - Cute cottage and helpful host when we ij9tially struggled to find it! The stairs are extremely steep and deep as they are original which is a bit of a challenge but also part of the character of the cottage
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Yvonne (9/5): -
- Victoria (9/5): Most enjoyable. Ideal location with the property being perfect for two people. - Everything apart from the stairs. The stairs were a little steep and narrow for us being almost octogenarians.
- Michael (10/5): Comfortable, cosy and close to centre. - Location superb and easy access to amenities and historical centre. Charming cottage with all necessary requirements.
- Rumyana (10/5): Wonderful!!! - Perfect place to stay. The hosts had taken care of everything: amenities, parking, and clear instructions for check-in and check-out. There were even small treats left for us in the kitchen. A wonderful stay.
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
- Joanne (10/5): Lovely cottage in a great location. - Lovely cottage with great decor. Comfortable bed and very clean. The host left some delicious snacks, tea and coffee. Great location, very close to the town centre. A great stay, thank you.
- Bill (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Very warm during a cold and snowy Saffron Walden.
Close to centre of town.
Very clean. A comfortable living room , bedroom and kitchen. The stairs to the bedroom were very steep. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems
- Nina (10/5): Fabulous little cottage. - The location was excellent, within easy walking distance of the town centre. The property was very tastefully decorated with everything you needed. No parking but that’s what you’d expect with a town centre location.
- Reeder (8/5): An enjoyable stay. Nikki is very friendly and helpful and quickly assisted with an issue we had. - The cottage is comfortable and once we had settled in found it very relaxing. The staircase is very steep and narrow so you have to be very careful when going downstairs, especially during the night. Nikki assisted us with parking arrangements. I would have liked to have known we were able to drop off lugguage before parking, as the streets are very busy and difficult to cross particularly if you are arriving between 3-5 as this is when the roads are most busy and the route from the Duke Of York car park to the cottage involves crossing two busy roads.

- Miguel (10/5): I had a lovely stay and would happily return. - A beautiful little cottage, perfect for one or a couple. Great communication with Nikki. I like to cook so although the kitchen was lovely and equipped with an oven, washer/dryer and dishwasher, a larger pot for pasta would have been great and there was no spatula. I managed without them.
- Debbie (9/5): Lovely cosy cottage close to town - I stayed for 2 nights and had my dog with me for 1 night (travelled for her to have surgery at a nearby vets)
The cottage was comfortable and had everything I needed. The town is lovely. I parked in the common car park for the first night which I paid to stay in until 6pm then it’s free from 6pm until 8am. No issues leaving my car overnight there. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the cottage but a nice walk through town. There was a market on when I arrived on Tuesday which may have made parking trickier that day.
The following day I was out all day and I was able to get a car parking space on a side street closer to the cottage.
There’s a Tesco less than a mile away and I visited a Pets at Home store on a retail park not too far away too.
There’s plenty of places to eat but I ate at the Wetherspoons pub just a short walk from the cottage on my second night. I could hear the neighbours TV quite loudly both nights. Fortunately it wasn’t for too long or too late but on the second night I could pretty much hear it word for word.
The property is close to a busy main road so traffic noise was noticeable in the evening and morning. It did quieten down later at night though.
- cate (10/5): Perfect place to stay in this beautiful town - A charming little cottage excellently located in beautiful Saffron Walden. Lovely little garden to rear. Everything to hand and very cosy. All good
- richard (9/5): -
- Brendan (8/5): Very quaint old period cottage which has been wonderfully modernized and is very comfortable for a couple for a weekend - Clean, well appointed and centrally located. Check-in was quick and easy. No parking as it is on the main road into the town. And parking in saffron Walden is difficult at the best of times.
- Linda (10/5): -
- Pascal (10/5): Nice expérience - Lovely and charming house!!! Neat and clean Nothing, a vacuum cleaner would be useful
- Redvers (9/5): A charming cottage in a great location. - The property is a charming cottage a short walk from the town centre and just a mile from Audley End and half a mile from Saffron Hall and Saffron Screen. Everything we needed for a short stay was available and the sofa bed was comfortable, which is good to know if you need the extra bed. The property has been nicely decorated inside and has a nice small courtyard at the back. The only downside was that there is no parking at the property. As we were staying at the weekend that was not a big issue for us, as we could park at the car park in the council's offices which is open to the public at weekends and a two-minute walk from the property. Otherwise the nearest car park seems to be about ten minutes away and on-street parking is limited to 2 hours during the day.
- Roland (9/5): - Small but beautifully restored cottage with lovely back garden. Ideally placed for walk into town. Free parking easy to find nearby.
- Esther (9/5): - Cercano al centro del pueblo Nada
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect location to Audley End House - Missed a hairdryer
- Kimberley (9/5): Comfortable, cute cottage - Located closeby to Saffron Walden, this property is really convenient for visiting the town, while also being located close to the main road. Parking is possible on a side street, or for a small fee at a local pub (although we had a little difficulty finding the entrance to the pub parking!). The house itself is compact and cute, with a lovely kitchen and little outside patio area. You do need to watch your head in a couple of spots! Communication with the host was very good and prompt. Dogs were evident (although to some others if dog-friendly it might be a bonus!)
- Kathryn (9/5): -
- Woolley (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (8/5): May stay of 3 nights - The location was fabulous to walk into Saffron Walden and to walk to Audley End House. Having a garden was very lovely to sit in. There is a sofa bed if navigating stairs too difficult. The shower was perfect. The stairs are Very steep. There were no instructions for items in the house or local info. There was a table outside with four chairs but no cushions. No lounge furniture although shown in photos. The property was clean but the floors ŵere not quite as clean with pet hairs too.
- Abbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grundy (9/5): Cosy cottage in a great location. - Great location close to the centre of town. Clean and comfortable. We found the lack of nearby parking spaces a problem at times.
- Trevor (9/5): Superb - It was very convenient to the town. And just what we required and as described
- Liat (10/5): A cute little house in a charming town for a couple seeking a quiet vacation - The cottage is very cosy, well maintained, and spotlessly clean!
The shower is nice, and there is a well-equipped kitchen.
Although we did not meet our host, Nikki, she responded quickly to our questions.
The cottage is perfectly located, just a short walk from the center.
We loved Saffron walden! It's filled with character and atmosphere. 1) The bedroom is located on the top floor and the bathroom is on the ground floor. In the middle of the night, going down the steep stairs to the bathroom is a bit challenging.
2) The curtains in the bedroom are not light-proof, so we woke up very early every day.
- Carol (9/5): Beautiful comfortable property in a convenient location for events at the Saffron Hall. - Perfect location as it was walking distance to the Saffron Hall - which is the reason we were in Saffron Walden and walking distance of several restaurants. Despite very cold mornings the cottage was always very warm. Beautiful bathroom with walk in shower. Very well equipped kitchen - fridge/freezer, small dishwasher, lots of cooking equipment, washing machine. Lovely big bedroom with plenty of wardrobe room and drawers. Large landing area which was big enough to use as an office. The cottage was better equipped than many much larger properties we have rented in the past. We had a couple of minor problems but Nikki was quick to respond. As it was an old property the staircase was very steep with deep and narrow steps. However it had a decent handrail which meant that as long as we took the steps slowly we were ok. We're both in our 70s and not that sprightly! There is no parking with the cottage but the arrangement with the landlord of local pub to use his car park worked very well. However just stopping outside the cottage to unload/load was a bit of a problem as the traffic could be quite heavy (and fast) on the road.
- Gavin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): This super little cottage was perfect for our weekend stay. Thank you! -
- Marcia (9/5): Short walk to our relatives house, busy road but could not hear much road noise. - only thing missing was a hair dryer - otherwise it had everything we needed
- Doyst (10/5): Nice little house. Ideal for a short stay in Saffron. - Great little accommodation. Ideal for me as a business traveller.
All the facilities were good and the location great.
Stairs are quite steep. I was OK with them, but be mindful depending on your physical shape. Parking is not ideal; but that is Saffron in general. Parked around the corner.
- Claire (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Great little place, good decor and comfy - Great little place 2 minute walk from the centre of Saffron Walden, well equipped with great shower No parking onsite and have to park a street away which is also limited
- Vincent (7/5): Convenient, clean. Good for short stay. - Very close & convenient to centre of town.
Easy check in process.
Nice & clean throughout.
Parking available a short walk from property. Property is very small ( clue is in the name!) We are 6'1 & 6'3" and had to stoop to use the shower and go through doors. Didn't realise it was this small when I booked it!
Rear garden/ yard needs some TLC as it is not inviting to sit out.
- Vivienne (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (8/5): nice little cottage in good location near to town -
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): We had a lovely stay, cute place in a lovely location. - Lovely cottage, nicely decorated with a cute garden. The kitchen, whilst clean, wasn’t particularly well equipped. No baking trays, no colander, only one sharp knife, no bottle opener, no tea towel, no cleaning products apart from washing up liquid. We’ve stayed in quite a lot of different properties and in this regard the kitchen equipment really let it down. I know a lot of people will eat out for such a short stay but not all of us! The biscuits on arrival were a nice touch though!
- Ian (9/5): Relaxing - Great character cottage with lovely little walled patio garden in a great location for exploring Saffron Walden / Audley End House and the great character & countryside all about Only 1 large towel to share for two, otherwise great
- Colin (10/5): Great little home from home - Local carparking has changed since we visited previously but it's still pretty convenient and not expensive.
- Lindsay (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was beautiful and pristine clean. And so comfortable and cosy. Nothing
- Lindsay (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Is lovely and so clean. Nothing
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Lovely little cottage with everything we needed for a 2 night stay. Loved the little courtyard especially as weather was good. Bed is really comfortable and a great location for pubs and shops. We were unable to operate the TV for regular channels which was disappointing. We tried everything , instructions should be provided .
- Sarah (9/5): Spectacular Saffron Walden - Amazing location. Good value with genius discount.
Super comfy and clean. Perfect for couples.
Nice little touches like milk, tea, coffee, and snacks.
Responsive, friendly host.
Saffron Walden and the surrounding villages are stunning. We loved it and will be back. The TV only had digital channels and the Fire stick was extremely slow and crashed frequently.
The garden furniture hadn't been cleaned and was missing the cushions.
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (8/5): Overall, we had a good experience - Extremely clean! Bed was very comfortable! Adorable outside sitting area There were no face clothes~I know the culture doesn’t use them, but having one would have been convenient to freshen up with. Parking was an issue. Almost in our sixties, we had to leave by 7:30 am each morning to refill parking ticket
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional - Whole one bedroom [workers on the field] property with garden.
Was unique, amazing.
Thank you for arranging an early check in
10/10 property Just on a busy road, but this does not spoil the say one bit, even more so uiur local to town
- Rochelle (10/5): wonderful relaxing stay - The property was immaculately clean. Lovely shower and facilities and loved we had complementary coffee, tea, milk and especially the cookies!! the bed sheets smelt amazing!
- Luke (10/5): Nikki was great, very welcoming and the property had everything needed plus was very clean. Would book back immediately. - You get an entire little cottage, very nice Nothing, everything was great!
- Harriet (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, beautiful cottage with excellent facilities and speedy responses on our Qs. A very short walk into town and we took advantage of the free parking at the Council offices down the road! Couldn’t recommend more highly. n/a

Comfy and homely throughout. Could use a coffee table in living room.
