Guest Reviews
- Quentin (8/5): -

- Dan (10/5): Amazing tours available, helpful and welcoming staff, great location on river. - Right on the river bank surrounded with wildlife.
Incredibly helpful and a lovely family run business.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Marc (10/5): - Beautiful place Nothing
- Jean-yves (10/5): -
- Marja (8/5): Super leuk verblijf plaats waar we zeker terug zouden komen. - De ligging is fantastisch. Erg vriendelijk personeel. Geweldig goede bedden in kamer 3.

- Helge (10/5): Wonderful location located at the riverside - Basic, but clean and comfortable room furnishings with A/C and Fan! Quite rooms with noices of Mother Nature only!
Fantastic bar with foods! Nisha and her team understand how to make guests feel warmly welcomed and ensure they have everything they need! Thank you so much again! Nothing to complain about
- Jane sunchez (10/5): -
- Samantha (8/5): -
- B434 (9/5): -
- Aylee (9/5): Superb -
- Animas (8/5): Very good -
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property with lots of wildlife. The resort restaurant was excellent for dinner with live music. The live music ended at 10:30 so it didn't distract from our sleep.
- Dennis (6/5): staff excellent & helpful - sewage smell
poor beds
- James (4/5): Disappointing - Nice location on the river and staff were friendly, restaurant was decent. AC was a plus. Room was not clean with rodent poo on floor and bad smell in the room and toilet. Noise was also a problem at night with music from the restaurant until very late making it difficult to sleep. Overall felt we could have got much more for the money at nearby hotels.
- Ruth (10/5): Great riverside stay - Beautiful riverside location, with a bar and restaurant serving excellent food. Good value for money. Our hosts and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Wished we could have stayed for longer but hoping to be back! Nothing
- Fairweather (7/5): Great place to stay if you are visiting Lamanai on a budget. - The riverside location is spectacular and wonderful for bird watching. The bar is a big draw for locals and it is fun seeing the real Belize rather than being stuck in a resort. The facilities are basic - old sheets, nylon curtains, very old bath, bad lighting - but the place is comfortable enough, rather cosy actually and priced about right. Nb if you are staying in the first cabin there are noisy fruit bats in the roof. You can’t see them (and they can’t get into the room) but it is reassuring to know that they are not rats!
- Tammie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisette (8/5): Very good - The location was perfect! It was not clean, with a little effort they could make it lovely
- Ken (9/5): Superb - Amazing location on the banks of the New River. You can chill out on the porch of your private cabin at the end of the day. Nisha was great at getting me set up with a tour to Lamanai. And the restaurant is really top notch. My stay in Orange Walk was outstanding because I was lucky enough to have chosen accommodations here.
- Rowley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darcy (8/5): Definitely would stay there again if I was ever back in Orange County all - Great location on the river. Beautiful deck to sit and watch all the birds The pillows were hard
- Anna (8/5): Great Customer Service! - Staff were very friendly and accommodating when I requested a late check-in and check-out.
- Ralph (10/5): Nice place - Lovely place by the river with a pub and restaurant. Staff and owner friendly and helpful.
- Mariusz (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place by the river where we could spot few beautiful crocodiles. Place has bar and restaurant and can organise tours which is very convenient. All the people there were super friendly.
- Jenny (3/5): Disappointing - Nice location, friendly staff. They took our booking but due to a holiday, closed the facilities and left us on our own. We were provided with a gate key but no staff were around. We ended up leaving a day early. The room was also a bit dirty and we had frequent bug visitors.
- Kristy (10/5): Would definitely come back and recemend to anyone visiting Orange Walk. - Friendly staff, great location, fantastic service at the restaurant. Easy check in and out and the manager was great about tours and recommendations
- Isabel (7/5): Nice cabin and great wildlife. - Sitting on the decking with a coffee in the morning and watching the wildlife. The crocodile, the iguanas, the birds. It was wonderful.
Beds were comfortable.
The restaurant was very good, as was the beer and the staff were all lovely.
We were allowed to park our motorcycles right by the cabin and the gate to the property is closed at night. The cabin is tired and could do with a little tlc.
The smell of sewage around the vicinity wasn’t good. There was an open sewer just by the main gate that flowed straight into the river! Some of the smell also seemed to emanate from under the cabin, maybe from an unsealed cesspit, which probably flowed to the river.
The smell of sewage was also all around the town. This was our first impression of Belize and we thought that was how the rest of the country was going to be, but it wasn’t. It’s a great shame that Orange Walk is like this as the rest of the country isn’t. There were even some places that we could flush the toilet paper down the toilet!
A great shame as the cabins were a great place to stay a few days.
- Tiia (8/5): Good budget accommodation for nature lovers - Close to the nature and river, short walk from a bus station and centre, nice staff. I was arranged a guided tour to the Lamanai Maya ruins. Friday night is very noisy, because of the karaoke evening in the restaurant next to the cabins. Also AC is loud. So if you like to sleep and not sit in a bar all night, bring ear plugs. You can't lock the door properly from the inside, there was only a small catch in the door. Fortunately, the place still felt safe to sleep
- Clare (10/5): The place was wonderful. The meals were delightful. I ate three side dishes for my dinners! - The location is second to none. The greeting as I arrived. The workers were wonderful and kind and full of stories! The rooms were fine.
The River Tour Boat to Laminai was extraordinary. Don Hilberto was the most knowledgable captain of the boat. Like having a professor in charge. He had participated in many archeological and biological studies at Laminai Mayan Archaeological Reserve. He was enlightening! We also saw howler monkey troops! Birds were gorgeous! We saw bats and a sleeping nightjar!
Food was Belizean and tasty. The bar was populated by happy families and people from the area! Kids welcomed to eat! Small play ground! The odor of the river was strong. It seems the farms up river are very close to the river and possibly fertilizer and cow poop in the river.
- Daniel (5/5): Passable - Right on the river staff arranged river tour staff very friendly restaurant there Throughtout the town the smell of sewage wafted through now and again
- Edward (9/5): Superb -
- Gordon (1/5): Sewage door may not be correctable by resort owners because it may be the effluent from orange walk residences/ busi - Beautiful outside; a 2 rating inside cabana. Sewage door continuous out doors. Could not sleep due to wedding party’s extremely loud music 100 ft away until 11:30 pm. Had to depart by 4:30 am for long drive
- Louise (3/5): This hotel is like two different places. Great restaurant and staff, very substandard rooms. - The staff members were great. Friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves decent food and drinks and it's situated in a pretty location on the riverside, with good bird and crocodile watching and at a walkable distance from the bus station. The room was clean, and the bedding and towels were worn but clean. We were there on the day a dinner concert was scheduled and the singer was incredible. The isolated location on the edge of town might be a security concern but they lock the gates at night and have a security guard on site. For the building we were in, the toilets and gray water empty via a straight-pipe directly into an open sewage ditch about 3-4 metres behind the building (this in turn runs into the river). As the windows only have louvres and screens rather than glass, when the wind changed it was impossible to shut out the smell of raw sewage from the room. The bed ranked among the most uncomfortable I've used in Central America. Though we loved the singer, the sound was so loud it was as if he was in our room with us. We were glad we caught the concert, but it definitely wasn't the quiet room we had requested given our early start the next day!
- Marcel (10/5): Exceptional - Bar Restaurant, huts and staff, location,...
- Rodney (8/5): well worth the visit - it was .by the river (no croc came ashore looking for lunch) and ideal for boat trip. Close to town centre, Staff very efficient
Served toast and coffee every morning included in the price nothing
- Kari (9/5): Great value and quiet location - Great place for the money. Clean and with an attached bar and grill. All staff were very nice and helpful.
- Stephanie (8/5): Good location for a couple of days on the way through Orange Walk. Friendly and helpful staff - Lovely location and staff was excellent, even giving us a lift to the bus station ! Booked the river cruise for us.
Good breakfast and restaurant food.
Child friendly with play area including trampoline Basic room with bathroom not very clean
- Lampson (10/5): Relaxing with good birding - Right on the river with great birding opportunities. The bar served a great virgin pina colada and made a terrific vegetable quesadilla which was the best I’ve had. Some of the window screens needed repairs
- Jouda (8/5): Very good -
- Romain (8/5): Very good -
- Carlos (1/5): Disgusting - Nothing at all. Totally disappointed. It was super dirty. The bathroom was dirty, the shower with other people’s hairs, it smelled super bad and the toilet had remains of other people’s wastes. The sink smelled awful and had never been cleaned.
The bed sheets and towels had brown and red stains and the bedroom overall smelled weird.
- Lisa (6/5): Pleasant - How it was quit but my room wasn't all that comfortable the way I think. Didn't like no TV. And the A.C wasn't colding the whole room.
- Evert (9/5): Great stopover - Great location with crocodiles right in front of the door, great atmosphere at the bar and generally very friendly and helpful staff. AC was not very powerful, took a long time to cool the room down. Overall good value for money though
- Randa (8/5): Very good - Beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable facility, nice restaurant/bar, well kept grounds.
- Steve (8/5): Nice place right on the river with a good bar and nice views of nature. - Nice owner - manager, helped arrange our tour of Lamanai the next day very efficiently. Really nice patio, bar area with a great view of the ricer and local surroundings. Not too far a walk into town and other restaurant options as well. We really liked being right on the river and being able to sit on our front porch and see the water/nature/birds right there in front of us. We did happen to find a few turds around the room from either a mouse or rat, but hey, you're close to nature right! We didn't say anything to anyone about the scat, since everyone was so nice and everything else was great.
- Seppe (8/5): good stay - great place to stay for a short time, good value for money, helpful staff airconditioning was louder than usually.
- Jana (10/5): I loved it - Great location, welcoming family and option to organize tours with them. Would definitely come back again
- Alan (6/5): Enjoyable, but look forward to room upgrades for future stay. - Friendly, helpful staff. good food. convenient, beautiful location. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi in the room were poor. an additional fan would be nice. unable to flush TP was slightly inconvenient.
- Lara (7/5): Good - Suggested hotel due to good price-quality balance, location close to the river, very warm welcome by the hosts. Parking available in front of the room. The bathroom is not nice at all and comfortable, very small and basic. The bed and pillows were a bit dirty. The air conditioner should be cleaned.
- Uwe (8/5): Very good - Nice and quiet, good location.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Great place next to the River, but near the City. Lovely people, everything was clean. There is always a crocodile, what was amazing for my daughter. The Tour we booked directly there (Lamanai) was offered by local people and absolutely worth it!! Breakfast was good, but expensive
- Anonymous (10/5): great place to stay - it was on the river, very pretty with a slightly rustic feel. It felt like you were remote but it was still in town.
The lady in charge, I think her name is Nisha was super helpful. prices are really good too!
- Jasmin (10/5): Exceptional - This THE place! Lovely people that run this Retreat. We have such a good time Here. In this Paradise there is a great bar. Meeting and enjoying local people. Each afternoon the Krokodile Comes a bit Out of the River to say hello. Jungle Sounds all around.
The lamanai Tour they Organize was absolutely perfect! If you Go by boat you will enjoy the jungle, If you Go by Car you will See menuit villages.
Thanks to the tourguide and the delicious food His wife Made!
Belize ist great, this place is great. Thank you for this good time in Our lifes!
- Larry (10/5): This is a true find in a part of Belize that is not on the usual tourist trail. - First, Nisha, the manager is a gem. Second, what could be bad about sitting by a jungle river and relaxing. But I love out of the way and rustic. Some won't. But think of this. I woke in the morning to hundreds of snowy egrets looping over the river. An occasional tarpon surfaced and a croc swam by. Ah...! Plumper pillows? Come on. This place is what it advertises. It's a retreat not a resort!
- Paulo (10/5): Exceptional -
