Guest Reviews
- Alysia (8/5): - Location, comfortable To have more cookware in kitchen.
- catherine (9/5): Excellent stay extremely comfortable apartment - Location really near the city centre and area really quiet. Fantastic view from our window Nothing
- Nigel (10/5): -
- Paula (5/5): It’s a shame because it’s very clean but no sleep left me exhausted. - The view The traffic noise and late night pedestrian noise. Continuous noise in back bedroom made sleeping impossible. Horrible pillows. Too hot at night.
- Faye (6/5): Pleasant stay - Great location close to shops and attractions. Great communication on booking and prior to arrival The apartment had a strong foist smell which persisted throughout the stay. The living area had a stale smoke smell. Think the furniture could do with a good steam clean.
- Kendra (7/5): We had a lovely time in this cozy, convenient flat. Would stay again. - The location and view were amazing, especially during the viking festival. The flat was very clean, and the bathroom was very nicely updated with good water pressure (and temperature) in the shower. The bed was comfy (though the footboard isn't great for very tall people), as was the living room furniture. The wifi was fine. Stays York was easy to reach when we had questions. We had an issue with the front door knob making it very difficult to leave the flat, but maintenance came pretty quickly and fixed it. It's also a second-floor walk-up flat, but that wasn't a major issue; the halls are well maintained.
My biggest complaint would be the motion-sensor light in the vestibule/hall area of the flat, which can't be turned off, meaning light floods under the bedroom door sporadically at all hours (and the motion sensor seems to be very sensitive). I suggest wearing an eye mask.
- Caroline (10/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Megan (10/5): Fab weekend away. York is such a beautiful city we had a fab time :) -
- Connor (8/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): - Location was perfect
- Grainger (9/5): - Comfortable ground floor apartment in Georgian house. 2 good sized bedrooms, spacious living room with kitchen. All extras were provided like soap, washing up liquid and also biscuits, tea and pods for the coffee machine. Lovely modern bathroom. Only 2 things
- make sure you read the pack from the owner on how to get into the apartment. I hadn't seen a lock like that before and was not sure how to make the numbers visible.
- beware of the small internal steps in the internal hallway one just as you enter.
- Sarah (10/5): Excellent - The apartment was central, clean, comfortable and secure. There wasn't anything we didn't like however, my husband is 6ft 2" and he felt the bed was a bit short. I felt it was a standard double and it was just the style of the bed with the wooden rail at the bottom, restricted him from stretching his legs. He still loved the apartment.
- Alice (10/5): Fabulous appartment in an amazing location - The location was amazing and the apartment was spacious, modern and well appointed. Communication prior to arrival was fantastic and we had no issues whatsoever. No onsite parking available (we were well aware of this as it was included in the details). However be aware that the recommended NCP castle carpark is blummin expensive (not the apartments fault) so may be worth searching for a more cost effective option.
- Helen (10/5): Very good - Very clean and exceeded our expectations Nil
- Lee (10/5): - Everything The 10am check out.
- Dionne (7/5): Christmas break away - Location was excellent.
Apartment was clean and tidy. Was a bit pricey for the stay.
We booked for 3 adults and the pullout "bed" was not comfortable at all and very low to the floor, so the third adult had to sleep on the settee.
Also, I know it's almost Christmas, but the parking costs were extortionate, something we knew we had to pay extra for, but not at that price. Paid £67 for less than 48 hours parking. This is a bit put off on top of the apartment costs.
- helen (9/5): No complaints and would stay again - Clean and modern Heating slow to respond when it was cold
- Zara (9/5): - Location , kept up to date so knew if could check in early
- Chantal (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Beautiful stay in a great central York apartment - Great central location for sightseeing in York.
Well equipped and nicely maintained and decorated. Sofa wasn’t comfortable for a cozy night in and yes it’s a little noisy but it’s city centre apart from that everything else was superb.
The price was a little inflated re Christmas Market but would stay again as it’s a great location.
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): - The apartment had everything you could need. It was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean! There was 2 adults and 2 teenagers in our group and enough room for us all. Great location, easy walking distance to the Shambles and the Christmas market. The view of Clifford Tower was lovely. Comfortable beds with great black out curtains. We would definitely stay here again.
- michelle (9/5): Excellent - This is one of the best of apartments i have stayed in ,and i have stayed in alot ,very clean ,Location was excellent ,,easy to get too and to get in (key code) , Tea ,coffee ect.., all in apartment when you get in to start you off , thought of everything The only thing we didnt like was the sofa bed is so uncomfortable ,bumpy bit in middle ,really does need changing ,me and sister swapped on 2nd night , but it really is an excellent apartment
- angelahilldrup (10/5): - Great location. Lovely apartment.
- K (8/5): This is a lovely place to stay in York with excellent view and close to all of the attractions. - The location was fantastic and the property was really clean and had everything you would need. Bed was really comfortable and view of Clifford Tower was really nice.
- Georgie-may (10/5): Beautiful get away, central location - Stunning property, great location, amazing price for the location
- Dean (8/5): Was lovely, had everything we needed, prime location and perfect hub for exploring a beautiful city - Easy accessible, prime central location, beautiful view comfy stay Some more artwork/decor would be appreciated, loud extractor fan in bathroom, was plenty of tea/coffee yet very little sugar
- Robyn (10/5): Gorgeous property in the heart of York. Beds were insanely comfortable. Would defo stay here again. - Lovely decor and beds were insanely comfortable. I was ok as I slept in the bedroom on the right, and it seemed we had a plastic barrier between the bedroom and the window, but apparently the bedroom on the left was super noisy and it looks as though they didn’t have the plastic barrier.
Other than that absolutely perfect!
- Emma (8/5): Excellent apartment, perfect location to main high street - So it was an amazing apartment, the beds were comfy and it had everything you could need. We only made a hot drink as we were with a group of friends and so ate out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great location.
I would recommend it and wouldn't be put off staying again due to a couple of things like the noise. I did have earplugs but my husband didn't. It was quite noisy by the road with people walking by or traffic especially if a motorbike decided to go past at speed with a noisy exhaust in the night but I would not let that put you off staying there though. I didn't like that there was no blind in the bathroom. It's creepy at night when it's dark so I really think it should have a blind. I know it's a little courtyard the other side of the window and the window was mottled but I found it a bit eery. Also, the internal light is quite bright in the hall and comes on automatically. It's there for a reason due to steps but maybe a bit bright in the middle of the night for some so a lower wattage would be good.
- Helga (7/5): Lovely - Fabulous location lovely little apartment Only two things the dishwasher smelt terrible we ran it through a cycle but the smell didn’t go
Shame bedroom window unable to open would struggle in the summer with that
- Ofek (10/5): -
- Ofek (9/5): Amazing!! - The location was great, in front of the castle so the view was perfect and close by walking to the main street and shops. The house itself was clean, beds were so comfy and I really enjoyed staying.
- Amy (9/5): Lovely stay, great location - Location Bedroom smelled a bit of damp but not enough to cause an issue.
- Clare (8/5): York stay - The location was perfect, great view, lovely apartment 😍
A fab apartment for 2 people (not 3 ).would definitely stay here again, but as a couple. There were 3 of us, so one was on a sofa bed ,very uncomfortable and small. no towel for 3rd person. Lovely apartment, but just not for 3 people.
- Andrea (9/5): - Appartamento delizioso in posizione ottima.
Abbiamo avuto tutte le informazioni in anticipo con cortesia e professionalità.
Il soggiorno è stato molto rilassante.
Eccellente.
- Axelle (9/5): -
- Andy (9/5): Great location to stay. - Great location Would be good if the windows open, but stuffy.
- Elizabeth (7/5): - Amazing views and very close to everything The random light that kept coming on in the hallway, kept thinking someone was coming in (even though I knew they weren't) woke me up in the night, kept thinking it was haunted
- naisau (10/5): -
- Nigel (8/5): Great location. - Location, clean, keyless doors and plenty of equipment for the kitchen if you wanted to us it. One blind broken and the other needed a quick repair.
- Rachael (6/5): Great location. Clean. But very hot in summer and sensitive light sensor!! - The property was clean and well presented. Shower was good. Tea/coffee facilities were a nice touch. Lovely to look out at the mount. Great location for access to town. Lounge was very comfortable to sit in. Kitchen area had everything you’d want to make basic meals. The hallway light is bright and on a very sensitive sensor! The bedroom window does not open (sign on it saying do not touch) and it was a very hot weekend. But leaving the door of the bedroom open meant that we set the sensor off just turning over! And it took 5 minutes to turn off again. We even tried turning the fuse off for the lights but that just turned it into an emergency light that was dimmer, but on constantly. There was no manual switch to turn the light off. Photos to show how narrow the door was opened when we were still able to set the sensor off just by turning over
The rugs also did not have any anti slip tape under them and I went flying in the bedroom due to slipping on the rug.
Beware also that on a Saturday night on York races weekend (and presumably other weekends!) the area around Clifford’s tower is a congregating area for very drunk, very loud people. As it was hot we had the lounge window open so perhaps not a problem at other times of the year.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vusal (2/5): The staff should take better care of the visitors and maintain the cleanliness of the property - We couldn’t open the windows, which caused a bad smell. During our 6-day stay at the property, it was not possible to open the windows to ventilate the space. When we asked for assistance, we were told that, for security reasons, all the windows were blocked. When I arrived home, all my belongings smelled of a strong, unpleasant odor. Additionally, the property was noisy due to the traffic outside. We also requested some extra items, but these requests were refused.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - Location Cleanliness
- David (6/5): Small noisy but good central location. - Generally facilities good and location very central. Bed was comfortable and shower excellent. View over Clifford's Tower amazing. It is small with triangle shaped living toom kitchen/diner. Location was on a main road so very noisy until quite late with party goers and sirens. Had that thing with double decker buses outside our window....never felt private. Main hallway light very bright and on a sensor so when got up in night lit up like Blackpool Illuminations. We ended up paying for a hotel for our last night to get a good night's sleep.
- Joleen (7/5): Location perfect for sites, but bring earplugs/noise machine - Across from Clifford Tower, close to shops and restaurants. Private entry. Had a washing machine that also dried. With our flat being on the street level, you get a lot of road noise/people passing by window. Also the light in the hallway is on a timer with movement. This was not explained, so we spent quite a bit of time looking for the switch to no avail and thus keeping the light on. It wasn’t until we gave up and got in bed that it finally switched off. If you have to use the bathroom in the night, it blares right back on.
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional - Was my second time staying in this property and will definitely book to stay again when visiting York 😊
- Laurie (8/5): Magnificent location with only a few foibles to the room that could be fixed with more information. - Great location, and once we worked out the ventilator, shower, and fan etc. the room was improved significantly. Kitchen facilities are excellent, bed is very comfortable, and the view is of course insanely good. The room instructions provide no guidance on the fact that the ventilator is a ventilator -- once we figured that out, the inability to open the bedroom window was fine. The room instructions do not mention the shower operation = the shower operates at one temperature only (which was set to scalding hot), and it was only after I figured out how to adjust the boiler temperature manually that we made the shower viable to use.
- Kate (9/5): Superb - Great location, lovely rooms, well appointed. Sofa bed was not suitable for our third person. Had to sleep on the floor as it was more comfortable
- Christopher (10/5): Beautiful York bolt-hole - Location was perfect.Decor tasteful+minimalist.Wish I could live there.Great Indian restaurant within a few yards and fabulous view of Clifford's Tower. Only quibble was the blinds in the bedroom were inoperative so light flooded in early in the morning.
- Seona (10/5): Gorgeous apartment! -
- Kaly97480 (8/5): Very good -
- Dawn (9/5): So convenient, beautiful apt. Just a little noisy from outside traffic and revellers walking home. - Position Right on the pathway, of revellers walking out of town.
- Graham (9/5): Great stay, great property, great location. -
- Eve (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely apartment in a great location - Clean, good facilities and excellent location Bathroom fan was very loud and couldn’t switch it off
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rakshe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jordan (8/5): Very good -
- Sara (6/5): Great location, not suitable for families with small children - i suppose worth the money if split by 4 people. Location was fantastic for us. Door code access, so not worrying about loosing a key. Not able to check in before 4pm and then having to check out by 10am. A lot of money to essentially take a shower and sleep. i wouldn't mind the 10m checkout if access could have been at 2 or 3pm! Right by a road and walking route for people going and coming back from pubs, theatre, clubs etc... i suspect this is very hot in summer and cannot and wouldn't really want to open the windows.
- Michael (10/5): Was an enjoyable stay for the night - Was close to all the main attractions in York Nothing
- Pam (9/5): Highly recommend - Perfect location, near to everything but away from the noise of the Shambles at night. Incredibly responsive hosts, excellent information and communication. It could do with some net curtains in the bedroom so you don't need to keep the curtains drawn when not dressed, is outside is so busy.
- Pete (10/5): Exceptional - Location cleanliness modern bright comfortable Everything was great
Came on the train so parking didn’t matter
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracy (7/5): Great stay would book again if beds were a little more comfy. - Great location to get around the Center of York. Easy to access via codes. Beautiful apartment Beautiful property, beds not the comfiest. Double bed a bit hard for me and pull out bed in lounge very low and hard
- Daniel (5/5): Very uncomfortable stay and does not accomodate 3 people - Good location Bed isn’t very big. I’m only 5’ 8” and my feet overhung the bed. Spare bed in the lounge is ridiculous. It’s like a 3 way fold out bed which was impossible to sleep on. Literally had to sleep on the floor. Floorboards are extremely creaky. Sensor light in the entrance turns itself on randomly and lit up the bedroom lots of times overnight. Toilet has been piped to the hot water so when flushed it releases what I can only describe as poo steam into the room. Bathroom extractor was permanently on and very noisy all day and night. Door handles loose. Very unpleasant stay.
- Heppenstall (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sgreen1234 (9/5): Superb - Very clean, tidy, well equipped in perfect location. Only stayed one night so never had a chance to fully utilise the facilities Door access information sent out was incomplete resulting in 2 phone calls to the office before I managed to get in. Also, at this price bracket, is the only accommodation I think Ive ever stayed in that didn't have complimentary shower gel / shampoo etc
- Taylor (10/5): Fantastic location, amazing views and modern apartment - Good communication, very easy to access. Fantastic location, right in the centre with amazing views! The apartment was very modern and stylish! Will definitely use again. Thank you N/A
- Terri (8/5): Location is star of ahow - Pros:
Location.
Cleanliness.
Info prior to check in.
Helpful staff pre-visit.
Location is so good that its worth mentioning twice. Cons:
Early checkout time.
Shower only had 1 temp - hotter than the fires of hell.
Keypad to apt works inconsistently.
Road is noisy - no fault of the apt, but something to consider if you're a light sleeper.
Sofa bed is misleading. Not really suitable for an adult.
3 teabags for 2 nights is a bit tight...
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Kealey (8/5): Nice apartment in a great location - Really good location within easy reach of many shops, restaurants, bars etc. Stress free check in. The apartment was clean and comfortable and the welcome bag with teabags, coffee etc was nice.
The river is at the end of the street and there are some lovely places to sit and grab a drink etc.
Despite being central it was fairly quiet.
There is parking just across the street, check that there are no events on at the time of your stay as we couldn't get in and had to park a 15min walk away, (there was other parking closer by but everywhere was full). No big deal for us but may be an issue for others. Could do with a full size ironing board, the table top one provided was a right faff!
Although there was a small bar of soap provided it would have been nice to have shower gel, lotion and shampoo in the bathroom. We have stayed in similar places nearby for the same cost and had this.
No big issues at all and neither would stop us from staying again. Overall a great property in a convenient location.
- Maureen (10/5): Great location and clean apartment. -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Location is exceptional.
- Rachel (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (8/5): Excellent location - Great location. Very clean. We’ll equipped Sofa bed in the lounge was not comfortable for an adult
- Jon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely apartment in a great location - Great location and a lovely flat. The owner responded quickly when we had a query. Would definitely stay here again if visiting York! Nothing
- Lorraine (10/5): What can l say "Fantastic" - Great location. Whole experience. Loved it that much, decided to stay another night. Fantastic view through lounge window of the Clifford Tower. We did have a little problem with gaining entrance to the apartment. After entering key pad numbers, we had a problem turning the door knobs, they were a little stiff. After a few practises we managed to get the door open.
- Lisa (10/5): Great location for a shopping weekend - It was very comfortable and a great location. Nothing to fault
- Diana (9/5): Superb - The location and easy access. The apartment was nice too. The check in time was late and check out time was early. But host was very nice and let us extend check out time to 11.
- Mari (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aimee (10/5): Lovely Apartment - Location was perfect
The place was comfortable and clean.
Would highly recommend
- Faye (10/5): Fantastic property in great location - Fantastic property in a great location in York. Despite it being one of the coldest weekends the apartment was lovely and warm. The beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Nothing
- Grace (7/5): Fab location & view of the castle, however situated on a very noisy road - Lovely kitchen and comfy bed V. noisy main road at night, creaky floorboards throughout
- Liam (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (7/5): Enjoyable - Lovely property
Great location for shopping and restaurants Futon type bed for 3rd person very hard and not suitable for an adult. A sofa bed would have been a better size
- Lee (9/5): Brilliant and cannot wait to return!! - The location was perfect and the view of Cliffords Tower was brilliant. A lovely place to stay and won't look anywhere else to stay in York when we return. Nothing wrong with Apartment.
- Sofie (5/5): Passable - The facilities and space in the apartment was great. The apartment was so loud, so we wouldn’t stay again- the cars on the main road were constant throughout the night. The wooden flooring throughout the house also meant that you were woken up as soon as the room above you woke up, and you could hear every movement. Didn’t sleep very well as a result.
- Paige (8/5): Good stay - Location was amazing, the apartment was homely and had everything we needed. Loved the welcome starter set in the kitchen too. Been decorated to a high standard. People above us we're very very loud all night and early morning hours, great location but windows are thin for noise of people walking past. Ideally the large cuddle chair would be better as a 2 seater sofa just for when there is 4 people staying we struggled a bit
- Linda (9/5): Lovely apartment in central York with great view - Easy access, excellent location, very clean, warm & comfortable We could not fault the apartment or the host. However, the apartment is on a busy road so there is a lot of traffic noise but that's the payoff for being so central to all the attractions of York.
- Katie (5/5): Great location and very clean but motion sensor light was very disruptive - The landing light was motion sensor and despite the fact that there was no movement (other doors closed) it went off constantly throughout the night. This cast a lot of light into the bedroom making it incredibly difficult to sleep. Also (not the owners fault) but the residents downstairs raising their voices and making loud noise at 1am wasn’t great
- Laura (9/5): Great location, nice apartment. - Perfect location. The only feedback I would provide would be to include a lock on the inside of the main door of the apartment. The code provided felt generic and caused some uneasiness around whether someone could guess it from another apartment and enter.
Also, feel the ‘sofa bed’ is missold. This was a single futon which meant my friend and I ended up sharing the one bed.
- Kelly (6/5): The apartment itself was really nice and comfortable, appreciated the blankets provided on the sofas. - The property it’s self was nice, clean and modern It was cold, a couple of the radiators didn’t seem to work. There was also a couple arguing most of the evening and you could hear every footstep they took as well as the shouting.
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Location, comfortable beds, ground floor access Nothing
- Carol (7/5): Good -
