Guest Reviews
- Peter (8/5): -
- Lesley (10/5): Excellent - I’d like to book it again for Easter 2027 I loved it
- Adam (6/5): Not bad, not great. - Location was great, only a 10min drive from Berry Villiage. The main access road however was poorly maintained and full of potholes. Drive CAUTIOUSLY! The surrounding farmland and nature is beautiful. Sizewise, the living and kitchen areas were very spacious. Owner checked in once or twice via text if we needed anything. Everything just felt unloved. Lots of dust and spiderwebs. Most rooms had a stale smell. Every window screen had holes in it so you can't really leave windows open and keep moths/mosquito's etc out. While the kitchen had had a surface clean/wipe, the dishwasher had smudges and gunk over all the buttons, same with the fridge door. Aircon/heating unit remote had no batteries. I not sure why the reviews and score is so high tbh, I'd say 6.5-7 would be more accurate. Not bad, but not great. Found out it was a working farm after payment, horses and cows come right up to your car, the horse left mucous all over the front of the car. Again, not the worse thing ever, and can be cleaned, but not ideal if you care about things like that - especially if you'd just had it washed. Overall disappointed based on such high reviews from other people. I'd say manage your expectations.
- Sulekha (10/5): - Everything ! The location is absolutely amazing. The house is very beautiful, lots of space, very well organized.

- Melanie (8/5): A perfect weekend get-away for our family of 5. - Beautiful outlook, peaceful location, stunning scenery, comfortable house with lovely sunny verandah to relax on, plenty of firewood to keep the house warm once the sun set. An easy drive into Berry or Kangaroo Valley. Kitchen cupboards, equipment and utensils could do with a thorough clean.
- Monique (10/5): Amazingly perfect!!! - The location is paradise. Just us and nature. The birdsong was so relaxing and the cows and pony adorable No negatives at all
- Dooley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Great location. Quiet with excellent views. Bird life was abundant. It's great to have our dog with us. Comfortable beds. Loved the large verandah at the back. Whilst generally clean and comfortable, there was an odd smell in the lounge area. I'm not sure if the cottage just needs more airing or if some of the lounge furnishings or rug need to be cleaned / changed.
- Eric (9/5): Superb -
- Vyrna (10/5): Heavenly Haven. - There was nothing not to like. This place is the most beautiful place my group of friends have ever stayed. The property, the landscape, the beautiful, warm and welcoming home exceeded our expectations. We were mesmerised by the peace, the cattle right in your backyard, the facilities, the fresh air and much more was second to none. Definitely coming back to this beautiful peaceful haven. Away from the hustle and bustle. Our group didn't want to leave. It was absolutely amazing. Thankyou to the wonderful host Allison who was friendly, and had no problems in answering any enquiries. Highly recommend this beautiful haven. A home away from home. Thankyou. Nothing everything was absolutely wonderful.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great time at Grandmas Cottage. Lovely fireplace, great location, and very comfortable. Our dogs loved the fully fenced garden. The cattle were very friendly. Great to see wombats in the surrounding fields..
- Alan (10/5): A quiet home-from-home in some spectacular countryside - Spacious yet cosy cottage with well-appointed kitchen. North-facing verandah is a real suntrap, even in cool weather. The log fire was lovely in the evening, whilst the reverse cycle air conditioning heated up the cottage quickly in the mornings. Plenty of hot water. We had a ‘Yulefest’ weekend with friends and put up some Christmas decorations we found in the cupboard.
Handy for trips into both Berry (10 mins) and Kangaroo Valley (15 mins), but remote enough to be very peaceful.
Lovely and energetic walk up to the nearby Drawing Room Rocks (spectacular views!) when the sun came out. Nothing specific to the property.
The weather! When it rains, it really rains.
The road from Berry is still being rebuilt (June 2024) from floods many months ago, which involves a short contraflow with traffic lights.
- Mireille (5/5): A bit pricey for tthis property - The fireplace, the backyard, that we could bring our dog. Didn’t have the view as that we were expecting and all the family pictures, made it feel a bit weird. The BBQ wasn’t good and very small and dirty so we didn’t want to use it.
- Vangie (9/5): Superb - Alison was quick to respond to my emails and requests. She even got the fireplace going even before we got there, as it was a very cold day.
Since we couldn't go anywhere because of the heavy rain my request for a late check out was granted most generously.
We like the house, which has mostly everything we need.
I would come back and will recommend it to others. We were expecting to light the barby for dinner, but the gas tank was empty. Also, the kitchen drawers were not well kept and tidied up.
But they were really not big issues.
- Neville (10/5): Heaven in the hills😀 - Grandmas cottage was warm and inviting with a beautiful relaxed and cosy feel. We loved the beautiful outlook into the valley and the enclosed yard was a HUGE bonus for our puppy Piper! The cottage beds were so comfy, the kitchen had everything that we needed and Alison and Alastair were so inviting and hospitable!!!! We love their belted gallows and especially ‘Penny’. We will be back. Thankyou!!! Nothing not to like!
- Julie (9/5): Lovely quiet dog friendly home with views. - Lovely quiet rural setting out of town, but close enough if needed. Really appreciated it being dog friendly, with a great fenced area. Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, good wifi, smart TV (but no mobile phone coverage). Very good value for a 3 bedroom house in Kangaroo Valley, compared to some others we have previously stayed in. The kitchen was well equipped, but the cupboards/fridge could have been less cluttered. The fridge needed a wipe down. But this didn't detract from our lovely weekend.
- Heidi (9/5): Beautiful - Beautiful quite gorgeous home and property The huntsman in the kitchen and something running in the ceiling of a bedroom
- Natalie (6/5): A very pleasant stay - The rural location was lovely General cleaning required and small things such as There
as the dish cloths were old and dirty and the owners things were
things were present such as knitting and open
milk in the fridge.
- Greg (8/5): A beautiful afternoon, and morning with my kids and their grandparents -
- Kim (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (9/5): Great location, relaxing and private house with lots to explore - Awesome location close to Berry, Gerroa, and Kiama. Lots to do in the area with kids. House had everything we needed, would stay again :-) Very minor complaint but there was heaps food left in the fridge much of which was out of date, and in the cupboards, meaning we had less room to put our stuff and we needed to clean a shelf in the pantry as it was quite dirty. The kitchen itself and other rooms were lovely and clean, just inside the fridge and cupboards has been forgotten for a while.
- Steven (9/5): Perfect getaway - Quiet, comfortable yet not too far from local towns for shopping and attractions. Alison communicated promptly and was very friendly and helpful. We had a very relaxing time —-
- Joyce (7/5): Lovely comfy house. - Absolutely beautiful location. Fabulous slow combustion fire with plenty of wood. Generous late checkout Kitchen cupboards had a lot of old sauces, herbs etc. needs a really good clean out with some clear shelves for guests. Suggest clearly mark the ‘help yourself’ food and make sure it’s not out of date. Mirror and heater in single room would be good.
- Suzie (10/5): Lovely cottage in secluded but central location to explore Berry and Kangaroo Valley - Perfect weekend stay. Beautiful quiet country location but only 10 mins from Berry and 15mins from Kangaroo Valley so a great base to explore the area. Spacious 3 bed house with everything you need. Our dog also loved the space outside. Lovely to wake up with cows outside in the front paddock. Recommend doing the Drawing Room Rocks walk with an amazing view of the valley (only 5 mins drive from the cottage) Allison the owner was a great communicator and was available to answer any questions we had. We even got early and late check which was greatly appreciated.
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Veronika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrews (10/5): Very relaxing short stay for the family. A big thank you to the hosts. - Beautiful location and well-equipped cottage.
- Kaye (10/5): Grandma’s Cottage was very cosy, would definitely stay there again - Location was very good
- Philemon (10/5): Exceptional - quiet and calm place, Lots of wombats to see around during night time, sparkling clean property, short drive to Berry, filled and surrounded with nature, green, hills and happiness
