- Ann (9/5): - Beautiful location with exceptional views of the Devon countryside. Our host Anne was friendly and very helpful. Excellent breakfast. Nothing comes to mind.
- charlie (10/5): - the whole house nothing
- Longstaff (9/5): -

- Derrick (10/5): Was an excellent day for me. - The cleanliness was exceptional. The host Anne was lovely and kind. I will recommend any day. Sad I didnât get access to the pool
- Philip (10/5): Really comfortable and welcoming. - Halekulani was immaculately presented, our bedroom was fully equipped and the view absolutely stunning! Our host was incredibly welcoming and could not have been more helpful - both in terms of explaining directions and facilities but also recommending places to go and places to eat locally. The breakfast is highly recommended - delicious!
- Mandy (7/5): Countryside views in a peaceful setting - Anne was a great communicator informing us of the best way to reach her property. Stunning location with views of the countryside and the sea. We were made very welcome with a hot drink and biscuits on arrival which was a nice touch. We had the use of a large guest lounge with a gorgeous outlook. Very little.
- James (10/5): -
- Marcos (10/5): - The room had plenty of space as did the bathroom. And the bed was super comfy and soft.
Anne was very welcoming and gave a complete explanation of the facilities and backed that up in a text message (you know how it doesnât all go in at first).
The grounds and view were lovely, although we arrived in the dark and left by 10am so no exploring.
Very detailed route to gain access as it isnât so simple, so watch the video and follow the directions.
- Kirstie (10/5): Had the best stay ever, so beautiful and the attention to detail outstanding - Absolute perfection Nothing
- Sophie (8/5): Had a lovely time in Devon, Anne was very helpful with recommendations for activities - The location and house were beautiful.
- hekim (10/5): - Beautiful view ,very warm peaceful⌠Nothing really
- SDrew999 (10/5): Restful stay with stunning views and wonderful host - Absolutely stunning location. Anne, our host, was amazing and very attentive. Full of helpful information about the surrounding area and eateries etc. The view from our bed and bathroom was breathtaking (room with a sea view). The gardens are beautiful and very well-maintained. Our bed was extremely comfortable. A bath, was a lovely way to end each day, very spacious with lovely smelling complimentary toiletries. The bathroom had absolutely everything you could need, including a very comfy bathrobe and slippers. The breakfast, cooked from fresh, to order was delicious and set us up for our day. I would highly recommend a stay at Halekulani. Next time we intend to use the heated outdoor pool, which has disco lights! đ We've had such a restful stay. It was perfect. Thank you Anne Not applicable
- Anna (10/5): -
- jordan (10/5): Lovely stay! - Everything was really nice. The views are exceptional. Anne the host was lovely and very welcoming, even gave us two mini bottles of wine in the mini fridge which was a nice touch and came in handy! Overall great and the breakfast was top notch. I liked it all.
- David (10/5): Would stay again as hospitality outstanding - Beautiful situation and wonderful gardens all easily accessible. A lounge with lots of local information and books and pictures. Everything needed provided including fresh milk and tea and cake on arrival in the lounge and Anne gave us all the information to make the most of our stay. Quality breakfast and a visual as well as culinary pleasure to enjoy. Nothing. The information Anne sent gave precise directions which given the traffic locally at times was invaluable.
- Alfred (10/5): - The location, the views, Anne herself was amazing. The cooked breakfast each morning was spot on. I cannot find any faults, it was truly an amazing experience, highly recommend.8
- Dan (10/5): Amazing host and brilliant breakfasts - Wonderful host, amazing breakfast, spectacular accommodation Wanted to stay longer!
- Sharon (10/5): It was an exceptional stay, relaxing, homely, food was excellent and Anne a perfect host. - Anne was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was exceptional beautiful rooms, gardens, views of the sea. The breakfasts were excellent lots of choice and lovely service. Anne was so helpful when it came to advice about trips out and where to eat in the evenings. It was an excellent stay I cannot fault it in anyway. A big thank you for a lovely stay. From Sharon & John. Nothing it was faultless.
- Philip (10/5): Lovely property run by the warm and welcoming Anne. Highly recommended. -
- Miguel (10/5): Exceptional place to stay. Have booked fourth stay again already! - This was my third stay at Halekulani Devon and it just keeps getting better. Lovely home made cake and coffee on arrival with Anne welcoming you. She even remembered I like soft pillows and my room was delightful with views from Dartmoor to Lyme Bay. Exceptionally clean, plush towels, crisp Egyptian cotton linens and all the facilities you would wish for. Breakfast as usual is deliciously cooked and served by Anne and she is so helpful and willing to please. Really I wish I could have stayed longer and Iâve booked my relatives to come and stay as I know they will be looked after like VIPâe. If you want an exceptionally comfortable clean and well run place to stay look no further than Halekulani.
- Ina (5/5): - Beautiful Location.
Nice and friendly hostess.
Nice coffee and cake.
Good communication with guest. Very Knowledgeable about the area. Very narrow roads to the location that was sort of acceptable but the bushes was not trimmed and scratched my car.
The home itself: The owner asked us to remove our shoesâŚâŚIt was their home but if you let people into your home maybe you should state it on the website. (Removal of shoes) Not everyone like to remove their shoes. Wheelchair ramps in the house⌠The hostess did warned us but maybe again put it on the website. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows was hard. The shower and toilet was away from bedroom. Although the hostess did offered another room for ÂŁ30 more with bathroom or shower.
I never stayed in somebodies house , for me personally it is the first and last. It is their home but also a business and you are a guest in their home although you pay a good amount of money per night.
The last thing is in the bathroom you are advised to wash your hands and the method. That method is for hospital staffâŚalso people that visit do know the importance of hand wash and also not to throw weird things in toilet. Sorry for all the good reviews that people give maybe just also be honest with the not so good things.
- stephen (10/5): I have no hesitation in recommending this stay. - Excellent breakfast Loved it all
- gerald (10/5): Wonderful relaxing stay - The breakfast was very good Anne made a huge effort to ensure everything was cooked to our taste the house was in a beautiful location Very quiet and very clean and well presented. Anne was a very attentive host and made our stay feel special I would happily recommend staying there to anyone. I genuinely can't think of anything bad to say about our stay.
- John (10/5): Halekulani Homestay offered a comfortable, relaxing escape. - Halekulani Homestay is situated in an elevated position, set in a large garden with views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. Upon arrival, our host Anne greeted us warmly, welcoming us with freshly brewed coffee and a slice of delicious home-made cake. The property is finished to a high standard, and guests have access to a spacious common area, with comfortable sitting area, sound system and television. The breakfast was excellent, served with far reaching views. Nothing
- Delphine (10/5): Perfect stay - We stayed four nights at Halekulani. Everything was perfect, from the rooms to the breakfast. Anne was devoted, and helped us all through our stay to find places to visit and pubs to eat in. We enjoyed everything, including the pool. The additional cost was very much justified by the care Anne has for the cleaning, the heating, and also the privacy of the pool. Halekulani is the promise of an outstanding stay in an extraordinary environment, where you can find "luxe, calme et voluptĂŠ".
- Jane (10/5): - Anne provided exceptional service and demonstrated meticulous attention to detail. The bedroom was beautifully appointed, and the breakfast was of outstanding quality. Thank you, we will return.x That we only booked one night
Niks
- Bas (10/5): - The location offers a great view of the surrounding hills and the ocean and Anne makes sure that her guests have everything they could wish for. The room and bathroom were very clean and tidy. There is also a big lounge with comfortable chairs and couch that you can use, lots of places to sit outside and we enjoyed using the pool in the garden (for a reasonable fee). Overall: a lovely, quiet and tranquil place where we felt very much at home! We wouldnât change anything.
- Gareth (10/5): Beautiful Homestay Maidencombe Devon - Beautiful and relaxing homestay, spectacular views, great location for access to Torquay, Teignmouth, Babbacombe. Anne the host was extremely helpful with details of local areas. The breakfast was lovely, with fresh produce. My holiday homestay coming to an end.
- Nick (10/5): Hidden Gem - Great communication, spotlessly clean, beautiful gardens with spectacular views, complete tranquility and free parking and all just a few minutes from both Torquay, the Coastal Path walk and numerous beaches. Breakfast is plentiful, fresh and fabulously cooked. A tucked-away gem - highly recommended! Nothing.
- Jon (10/5): It was beyond all our expectations and Anne is a wonderful host. - We enjoyed every minute of the two days we spent at Halekulani and so wished we could have stayed more. Set in the beautiful Devon countryside with a stunning view overlooking the sea, Anneâs homestay has the most comfortable bedrooms, delicious breakfasts a heated private swimming pool and a croquet lawn. She made us feel like family from the moment we arrived . Not applicable. We liked everything.
- Luke (10/5): Beautiful Homestay! - What a wonderful and personal experience we had. First time staying at a Homestay but was pleasantly surprised, Cake and coffee on arrival! The house and stay was very relaxed. The location is super quite with great views.
The pool is great for for a dip, can take an hour to prepare because its heated, that wasnt an issue at all.
Beds are comfy, rooms are very nice and all have views of the sea!!
Breakfast with a view, it was fresh and all local produced. With lots of choice, Anne will cook your eggs just how you like them!
Thanks, Anne!
- Jessica (10/5): A special place in a gorgeous location - Our host Ann went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. She picked us up from the station for a small fee and was very accommodating.
The setting and views are lovely.
A great place to start the John Musgrave Heritage trail which begins about a 15 minute walk from the house. A fan in the room for the heat on a hot evening would be an appreciated addition
- Nicola (9/5): Relaxing stay thank you - Beautiful view
Comfy bed
Large bathroom
Very friendly host Nothing
- Tony (10/5): Wonderful time - The view and Anne Nothing
- Terence (10/5): A hidden gem! - We loved the location and wonderful views!
Anne was a lovely a host and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable! Nothing
- Mary (10/5): I canât wait to tell friends and come back. - Absolutely stunning property spacious very clean gardens maintained and swimming pool was amazing. Host couldnât do enough for you. There was nothing wrong with this property at all.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely location, house, breakfast. Great host nothing too much trouble. Room luxurious.
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Quiet, peaceful location with beautiful views over countryside and down to the sea. Complimentary tea and cake on arrival. It's a difficult location for coast path walkers due to the main road being unavoidable (though it can be minimised by going the long way round).
- Charlotte (10/5): Lovely hostess, clean rooms, great food and relaxed environment - A beautiful homestay with a lovely hostess, Anne. Nothing was too much trouble. Going the extra mile, making sure we had everything we needed, asking if there was anything she could pick up for us while she was out and on a rainy morning she even offered us the none cooked option for breakfast in our rooms as she wanted us to have a good start to the day.
There was a scone and hot drink on arrival which was a lovely touch. The rooms were very clean and tidy, the views were incredible and the breakfast delicious! We also had a cheese board from the snack menu which was delightful!
The room also had access to streaming services such as Netflix which we enjoyed using in the evening after a day out, as well as an iPad in the room to browse magazines. Another room in the house was kept for massages by a professional external masseuse who provided us with a lovely back and foot massage on our last day.
Overall it was a perfect, relaxed stay in a secluded spot but not too far from lots of amazing places. We would love to go back again in the future. Well worth a stay! Nothing at all.
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Beautiful property in a great location. Anne was friendly, kind and very attentive. Lovely quiet room with an amazing view over the hills towards the coast. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of choice. Fantastic and very comfortable super king size bed and the room was very clean. We slept really well here ! The bathroom was a little difficult being so small with a very tiny washbasin and restricted head room in the shower ( so you had to sit down in the bath to use it ). We did know this when we booked it though.
Also the bedroom was quite hot and stuffy despite windows being open so I was thankful for my mini desk fan.
All in all , not much to dislike .
Many thanks Anne.
- Toland (10/5): Excellent stay, would highly recommend - Very clean, beautiful view and lovely host
- Min (10/5): Good - Host was Fab and kind.
Made us feel welcome she's amazing and breakfast was amazing. If your working no space or environment to accomplish this after 11.am!
- Jordan (9/5): Superb - Beautiful home, lots of communal space, great views over the valley. Bed was very comfortable.
Host was polite and friendly. Was offered fresh coffee and cereal in the morning. Room was on the small side. TV was small. No where private to work (chair/desk). pool and cooked breakfast was extra. Not relevant to the host or home but maps can take you down some very precarious roads so check the route first
- Ryan (8/5): Very good -
- Sheree (10/5): Outstanding!! - Absolutely stunning property and spotlessly clean. Everything has been thought of to make sure guests have everything they need. Beautiful place to relax and have complete peace. N/A

- Over (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - It was so relaxing. Anne is the perfect hostess. She greeted us on arrival with tea and cake. Explained a few things and would leave us alone but was always there if you wanted her or needed anything.
Our room was clean. The bed sooooo comfy. The view across hills and countryside to the sea were gorgeous.
The bathroom was spacious. Toiletries consisted of shower and bath gel, hand and body lotion and shampoo and conditioner - all Molten Brown. Also Q-tips, cotton wool balls and make-up removing pads.
Breakfast was yummy and served up warm and fresh. There were options that you could pay extra for, but what we had was more than enough. Anne would come and check that you had everything and ask if you wanted more of anything. But left us to enjoy breakfast with a view of the garden.
The road leading to the property is very narrow and the turn in and out is quite tight but just go carefully. You're there to relax so what's the hurry?
- Diana0907 (10/5): Perfect romantic spot - Anne is a lovely host. We had a lovely room with a sea view and an ensuite bathroom. Wonderful sunset right from our window.
She prepared a very good English breakfast and she pays attention to every detail of her guests.
Romantic place. We will definitely come back.
- Karen (10/5): Gorgeous Property - Anne was the perfect host and made sure we had everything we we needed for a relaxing stay.
The property was just gorgeous, spotlessly clean, very peaceful and in a stunning location, I wished we could have stayed for longer. The bed was especially comfortable , we slept like logs !
Vehicle access was a bit tricky as we have a large classic car but a regular car would be fine.
Breakfast was in the beautiful lounge with far reaching views of the coast and countryside.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - The relaxing atmosphere and the beautiful views Having only a short stay
- Tim (9/5): Lovely -
- Thomas (10/5): Befitting Heaven....... - Anne was a brilliant host very attentive. Nothing was an issue for her (my sensitive check-in time, my dietary needs, or my room requirements).
A very beautiful place with lush views & my room came with a deep, free-standing bath all accompanied soft and rough towels......
Astar Defo revist.....
- Chris (10/5): Relaxing and peaceful - Absolutely stunning property with exceptional views all around from inside and from the garden. We had 2 rooms when we stayed here one looked out to the beautiful countryside and the other straight out to sea which if your lucky enough can catch a sunrise on a clear morning.
The breakfast was exceptional as was the view from where you have breakfast, in front of the bifolds looking out to sea. The only downside was I booked 1 night, I could have easily sat in that spot where we had breakfast all day takeing in the views.
100% recommend this absolute Gem of a B&B.
And not to forget the fantastic host who meet you with a warm welcome and makes you feel as comfortable and at home as possible :) will defo be stopping here again! 10/10 Absolutely nothing

Our host Anne provided a very comfortable, well equipped room and an excellent breakfast in the living room which looks down to Lyme Bay. Her friendly advice on the local area was very helpful and she was very willing to provide extra catering on request and to be helpful with EV charging. We were able to get the most out of a short, relaxing break. N/A

The house was spacious, cosy, and had beautiful views. The host Anna was lovely, the food was delicious.and all dpurced locally. The rooms were nicely decorated ,lovey bathrooms. Beautiful views from every window.
They played lovely relaxing and healing music.
I really liked how the whole house was designed and fitted with all mod cons.
The garden and pods gave a retreat vibe.
We were treated to welcome drinks and a delicious slice of cake on the house.
The host was friendly and made us very welcome
We also had treatments with Allison, the beauty and massage therapist, she was exceptional.
I highly recommend having a treatment,it's the perfect way to end your stay.
This homestead is a must must stay .

- Eduardo (10/5): Wonderful stay with magnificent views - I love Halekulani Home Stay, cozy environment, wonderful room and amazing view, terrific breakfast. Super friendly owner, always keen to help.
- Troy (10/5): Exceptional - Wow! What an incredible experience at Halekulani Homestay, the host Anne went above and beyond to make our stay feel special, what a welcoming, kind, genuine lady. The room was breathtaking and had stunning views of the sea, it truly had all the necessities needed for a comfortable stay. We had breakfast included with our room, and it certainly didnât disappoint, very tasty and you could tell good quality ingredients are used. An added benefit to this stay is the option to have treatments, I had an amazing facial by Sadie and would certainly recommend. Overall a very relaxing stay, in a beautiful location, would return without hesitation- thankyou again Anne!
- Alan (8/5): Very helpful and welcoming host. Beautiful views. - Beautiful view from our window. Anne, the host was exceptionally helpful and accomodating. The room was very clean and well appointed. We had the king room upstairs and the shower / bath was very cramped ie could not stand to shower. If booking that room you need to be aware of the shower arrangements. Some of the house rules were a bit restrictive. Ie not being able to eat in your room. Shoes had to be taken off at the door.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - The outlook was beautiful and Anne the Host was very helpful
- Jenny (10/5): Lovely place definitely worth a visit - Extremely welcoming host and very attentive nothing was too much trouble. Property was immaculate. The bed was extremely comfortable. Everything you needed for a relaxing stay Everything was perfect
- Rick2225 (10/5): Classy, welcoming and superbly comfortable! - Where to begin? After following the emailed instructions to the letter we found the property without difficulty and were warmly greeted by Anne, our host. The property is delightful, tastefully decorated, modern and sparkling. After a welcome with coffee and cake we settled into our room then followed Anne's suggestion - chosen from several, with links & information sent to my phone - for a local eatery (Cary Arms Hotel) where we enjoyed wonderful service, food and atmosphere although the steep & narrow access laneway was, as we were warned, a challenge! Breakfast the next day was served with surgical precision in immaculate surroundings and didn't disappoint. Overall a delightful experience with an amazing host! The ONLY slight awkwardness arose from the low, angled ceiling in the ensuite which precluded a stand-up shower over the bath, but this was advised during booking so came as no surprise. The washbasin was the smallest I've ever seen, leading to jokingly referring to it as a 1-hand basin but that was just a source of amusement not an inconvenience.
- Robert (10/5): Really excellent location for local coastal walking. - Peaceful and very comfortable -
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Anne went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The house, gardens and views are gorgeous, making this the perfect getaway for a few days whilst we got married in Torbay. The accommodation provide a shuttle service which Anne kindly provided for us, taking us to and from the registry office. Full English breakfast was cooked to perfection and was delicious. A lovely tranquil setting. Be sure to get up early to catch the most stunning sunrise across the bay. We look forward to staying again, thank you for such a tranquil, comfortable stay. Nothing
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! The view, the location, the room, the cleanliness, the tranquillity, the amazing breakfast, the best ever apple juice from the local orchard, the sweetness of the freshly squeezed clementine juice, the filtered water in the room, the personal touch, and the most wonderful host who's also the owner of this fabulous retreat. Highly recommended, and we would love to visit again sometime. We can't fault anything about Halekulani.
- Corina (10/5): A perfect relaxing stay. Would highly recommend. - From the first moment of our arrival with tea and cakes to our departure everything was wonderful. Anne is an amazing host and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. The house was spotless, the room was a generous size and everything was provided to make this a first class stay. Breakfast was superb and the setting was stunning. There was nothing we could fault and would highly recommend. There was absolutely nothing to fault.
- Kat (10/5): Just wonderful - Stayed one night, but we so wanted to stay longer. Such a beautiful ambience, peaceful and surrounded by glorious natural beauty. Anne is a FANTASTIC host. Thank you for a lovely, lovely stay!
- Helen (10/5): Nourished, revived and restored. - This is the perfect escape for body and mind reset. I feel nourished, revived, and restored.
The house and gardens are stunning, offering expansive views of rolling fields, vast skies, and the sea. I stayed in the smallest room available, which was still spacious with ample storage, a very comfortable bed, and a great coffee machine.
The breakfasts are fantastic; I highly recommend the porridge and fruit options alongside the delicious cooked breakfast, which includes fabulous vegetarian choices or succulent sausages if you prefer.
Anne was incredibly attentive and a great joy to be around. She makes everything seem very streamlined, even though I'm sure it's quite complicated accommodating guests. Nothing is too much trouble (more eggs, please!). I immediately felt comfortable in the house. The lounge is for guest use only, so I didn't feel like I was encroaching on their privacyâperfect for reading the paper and looking out to sea.
As a nice bonus, if you sleep with the window open, youâll hear owls calling in the distance as you drift off, and be gently woken by sparrows chirping happily in the hedgerows. If you're lucky, you might even spot a very friendly cat who resides in the owners' private quarters.
It's not often I want to return to the same propertyâI usually prefer varietyâbut this one is an exception. Iâll be back so my husband can have the same exceptional experience.
- Rodney (10/5): Restful and excellent - Everything Nothing
- Gordon (10/5): Exceptional -
