- Jill (10/5): Lovely Stay - We liked the location, lovely village, quiet road. We liked the host - helpful at the start
We liked the comfy beds and nice bedrooms
We liked the little garden
We liked the wood burner.
We liked the well sticked kitchen The loo is downstairs which might be important to some people but we were ok with it. V. Clean.
- Kyla (10/5): - Great stay whilst working in the area. Host was really easy to get hold of and the property had everything we needed! N/A
- Matthew (10/5): Lovely village cottage. - Great location in a quiet, pretty village just a few minutes drive from Newhaven. The cottage was cosy and comfortable and perfect for our 2 day stay (2 adults staying) It was spotlessly clean and our host very friendly. There was good heating and hot water and the simple kitchen (hob and oven) enough for our needs. In short, a charming, simple country cottage. We'll be back! We liked everything.
- mark (10/5): Stress free and relaxing - We had to move out of our property for a few days and the host went the extra mile to make sure our stay was comfortable and stress free, I can not recommend enough, the cottage was everything you’d expect from a cottage and the village was lovely with some great local walks

- Birte (6/5): Great for short stay by couple in quiet village - Great location in a quaint and quiet little village. Convenient parking in front of the cottage. Clean and tidy. Good for a short stays and sleeping / breakfast only. Bathroom was tiny with no place to leave toiletries and the toilet was so close to the wall it’s impossible to sit on without your thigh touching the wall. There are two bedrooms but I would not recommend this for more than two people due to the space constraints. The stairs to upstairs bedrooms are steep and narrow with nothing to hold onto.
- Yvonne (3/5): The location is wonderful, but the property felt unsafe, misleading, and unsuitable for elderly or less mobile guests. U - Location was nice and short walk to lake short drive to shops supermarket. The village is beautiful and the lake is a must-visit, but sadly the accommodation itself was very disappointing and not as described.
Cleaning was poor (cobwebs, overwhelming bleach smell in the bedroom).
Beds uncomfortable, fitted sheets didn’t stay on, and overall presentation felt rushed.
Light fitting above the bed cracked and looked unsafe.
Shower hit the ceiling in its holder so couldn’t be adjusted – you had to either crouch by the taps or hold it in your hand.
Toilet placed too close to the wall so only a child could sit comfortably.
Stairs were extremely steep, very narrow, and with no handrail for support. This was especially unsafe for my 86-year-old mother-in-law, who had to crawl up with help from family. The photos on the listing do not make this clear.
The green sofa shown in the listing was not there – instead there was a very low sofa that was difficult to get up from without help.
No TV was provided (not made clear in the listing). When I asked, the host simply suggested we cancel and stay elsewhere, which wasn’t possible at that stage.
The host also promised wine if the cleaner hadn’t left any, but it never arrived.
- Mark (8/5): - Excellent location for Eastbourne and Brighton. Lovely quiet quaint cottage Could have had a few more utensils / glasses. Only really room for one car as it is street parking

- Carol (9/5): Perfect in every way. - We had the most wonderful weekend stay at this lovely cottage! From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by its cozy atmosphere and thoughtful touches. The cottage is beautifully decorated—tastefully rustic with all the modern comforts you could need. It was spotless, and immediately felt like a home away from home.
The setting was idyllic—peaceful, surrounded by nature, and perfect for a relaxing escape. We especially loved the little garden area, perfect for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The host was incredibly welcoming and made sure everything was just right for our stay, offering helpful local tips and quick responses to any questions.
We truly didn’t want to leave and are already planning our return visit. If you’re looking for a charming, comfortable, and peaceful place to unwind, this cottage is an absolute gem. Highly recommend Nothing
- Gavin (7/5): Comfy - Conveniently located to where other family live. Property is described as having private parking but it’s simply on street parking. Not handy if you had planned to leave things in the car overnight. No complementary wine/champagne as described in the description. Small jug of milk though. So expectations were set higher than the reality but still good value for money.
- Elke (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage, light and comfortable for the two of us.
- Pat (8/5): Peace and tranquillity in Piddinghoe. - Quiet and tranquil.
Very clean. Owner obviously takes a lot of pride in presenting the property.
Thoughtful little extras with condiments and herbs plus a few items in the fridge.
Extremely comfortable beds. We had great sleeps right throughout our four day stay.
Large lounge area and well kitted out kitchen with stove and hob.
A lovely courtyard garden which would be brilliant in summer. Please note these are merely suggestions and not in any way a criticism
We would strongly suggest that a compendium is put together setting out all instructions and requirements in one place. This could also provide details on the owners, information on local attractions and eateries and it would obviate the need for notes spread around the unit.
The stairs are very steep and a guard rail or bannister would assist with safely navigating the stairs.
While we knew from the listing, the addition of a TV (particularly for long winter nights) and a microwave would make a huge difference to guest experience.
- Alan (7/5): Cute - Cute and quite No internet
No tv
No radio
- Brad (10/5): Exceptional -
