Guest Reviews
- DocDB2002 (3/5): Overpriced and very uncomfortable when the power is out. - The staff really tried to be accommodating. The location is fantastic. They do not advertise that the power, and therefore the ceiling fan and WIFI all are turned off for hours at a time, multiple times a day, including at night. It gets very hot and humid rapidly when the ceiling fan is without power.
- Simona (6/5): The beach is beautiful and clean! However, we wouldn't come back because of the accommodation. - The long, beautiful beach is lined with palm trees and large, round stones. This beach is a paradise in the middle of a nature reserve. The value for the high price was poor. The overnight stay was far too expensive for what we ultimately received! Because it wasn't sunny for a few days, the solar panels didn't have enough storage capacity. Therefore, a generator had to be used to supplement the power. Which is perfectly understandable, but not when it's located just a few meters from the bungalow and runs all night! It also switched off a few times in the middle of the night, along with the ceiling fan. Not recommended for people who don't like tropical nights.
The room wasn't really clean, and sometimes it simply wasn't cleaned without us even asking. The shower head was just a trickle of water.
The hotel restaurant was also not pleasant. The wait times were endless, even when there weren't many guests. And it was overpriced! The management was a complete rip-off! The staff were very unmotivated and unfriendly, especially one young woman. We stayed for five nights and never once saw her smile. The manager a woman) was also unfriendly and showed no warmth or hospitality!
The restaurant El Ricon de Faby is 5-10 minutes away. Highly recommended. Friendly staff, good selection, and delicious food! It's a real shame, because the natural surroundings, La Piscina beach (one of the few where you can swim), the hike from the parking lot to the hotel, and the organization with the luggage and horse were all lovely and well done!
- kimberly (1/5): There was no stay as they cancelled our reservation. - We did not get to the property as they cancelled our booking very last minute.

- Sandra (9/5): - We had a wonderful stay at Arrecifes Refugio. Our room was big, comfortable and clean. We loved the terrace, seating areas outside and being so close to playa la piscina where swimming is possible. We were given a very nice welcome, with information about the park, snorkeling spots and where to watch the sunset. The restaurant onsite prepares tasty meals. We were kindly allowed to store our luggage after check out which allowed us to enjoy the beach a little longer on the day of departure. The accomodation is quite pricy for what it is, the location could not be better though.
- Marcin (10/5): -
- Matthew (6/5): Great location, but needs some work. - Amazing location with the La Piscina beach just seconds away, and Cabo San Juan a few minutes. Good food. Relaxed atmosphere. The doors did not close properly, with slits allowing mosquitoes to enter - which is not enjoyable. There was no net for the bed to counter this. The shower and bathroom are outside, which provides a nice experience. This becomes very interesting if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, having to navigate all kinds of bugs. There was also no hot water.
- Damir (6/5): Accommodation in a fantastic location, which unfortunately does not justify its price. - Location and surroundings When evaluating this accommodation, its location should be taken into account, i.e. it is located in the middle of the Tayrona National Park. However, considering the price, which is three times higher than elsewhere, I would expect some basic issues that are easily solved - mosquito nets, water/coffee in the room (the employee said to go get water ourselves at the restaurant), knowledge of at least basic English words and slightly more professional employees, and moving the internet modem from the restaurant closer to the accommodations (the internet does not work at all in the accommodation, it only works in the restaurant). We do not regret visiting the Tayrona National Park, but I do not think the attitude "we are the only accommodation/restaurant here, so we do not need to bother" is appropriate.

- Nicoleta (10/5): - Perfect place to stay inside Tayrona park. The staff is friendly and helpful, the place has the beach where you can swim. It's half an hour walk from Cabo san Juan. The restaurant has tasty food. It's really the best place to escape from everything.
- Ilona (10/5): Great little hotel with perfect location - Location, the stuff and comfort The property was great, nothing bad to say
- Arianna (10/5): Un paradiso - Tutto!
Colazione ottima! Niente
- Girmante (10/5): Amazing stay inside Tayrona park - Such a cosy place to stay right inside Tayrona Park. The apartment is surrounded by jungle and feels peaceful and special, truly a unique experience close to nature. We loved every moment
- Dasol (10/5): Worth paying this amount to be in the middle of nature - Location and view Food is bit pricy
- Carolina (10/5): - Personal amable, instalaciones bonitas, excelente servicio.
- Menno (9/5): Topplek middenin Tayrona NP!
- Sanne (10/5): Nice room - Good location, good beds The shower is cold, but because of the temperature it was not an issue. The price was quite high, but I was happy we didn't need to sleep in a hammock.
- Marie (9/5): -
- RC (9/5): Amazing place, quite expensive for the quality. - First of all, I have to say that José, who works at the reception, is someone who truly enjoys what he does. He’s incredibly friendly and always ready to help. I hope the owners understand how lucky they are to have someone like José as an employee.
Luís, who works in the hotel restaurant, is also very friendly and attentive.
The location is perfect — it takes about two hours of hiking to reach the hotel, and the beach is right in front of it.
I saw many complaints about the restaurant being expensive, but I didn’t think so. The prices are the same as in Santa Marta; only the drinks are a bit more expensive.
The shower, like the bathroom, is outdoors and has cold water, but with the heat it actually feels nice. The only issue is that the water pressure is quite low. The price–quality ratio leaves a bit to be desired. The nightly rate is quite high for what the hotel actually offers. The room is small and has no proper storage, just a few small stone shelves. There is a window with no screen, which makes it impossible to open unless you want all kinds of insects and creatures coming inside. The main window and the bathroom door do have screens, but they still don’t stop insects from getting in. There is a gap between the shutters and another between the shutters and the floor that lets everything through.
There isn’t much privacy either, as the shutter that serves as the room’s entrance cannot be fully closed. They should either install a curtain to provide some privacy or redesign the shutters so they can actually close properly. The bed should also have a mosquito net.
The outdoor bathroom sounds like a good idea, but in reality it isn’t. Going to the bathroom at night becomes an adventure. The moment you open the door, you have to be fast so nothing gets inside the room. And between trying not to get bitten by mosquitoes and checking if there are insects hiding around… it’s quite an experience.
The area around the rooms could be better maintained and organized. At night you can’t really enjoy the surroundings because of the insects. The same goes for the terrace attached to the room — it’s simply not usable at night due to the same issue.
Wi-Fi in the room is almost nonexistent.
The electricity failed every single day.
They should have a gate at the hotel entrance or at least a clear sign showing the path to the other beaches or indicating that the area is private. Poor José spends all day telling non-guests that the path to the beaches is not through the hotel grounds.
Breakfast is acceptable, but not generous.
They should also make use of the large amount of fruit on the property — coconuts, papayas, etc. Most of it goes to waste. They could offer it or sell it to guests; I would definitely buy it.
Very expensive restaurant.
Doors from the bedroom do not seal well so many insects and other kind of living beings can enter through doors.
No hot water on shower and also very little water (really hard to take out soap for example). If that's to try to use less water that's not working because for something that could take seconds with normal water flow it takes minutes because of the very little water flow.
Overall seems expensive for the level of comodities

- Hewlett (8/5): - Good location and easy checkin
Restaurant staff could behave even a bit more attentive.
- Soledad (10/5): -
- Guereñu (8/5): - La ubicación y las instalaciones. El precio del restaurante, un poco excesivo.
- Valérie (10/5): -
- Melannie (8/5): -
- Ramiro Amaya (9/5): Beautiful peaceful place in an amazing natural setting - Excellent location. The setting was very pretty. Rosiris from reception was really great, very kind and helpful. The staff were very good. The breakfast was delicious. The price is a bit high. However, we understand that it is situated in a remote location, and the cost of operation may be high.
- Marjorie (9/5): Beautiful stay in Tayrona Park - The hotel is beautifully located in front of the piscina, one of the nicest spot to swim in the Tayrona park. You can reach there after a 1h30 walk. We arrived before the checking time and the hotel staff was really friendly and helpful, providing information about the park and providing beach towel. We could access our room at 2pm; The room offered great amenities and was very comfortable, especially given the fact that it is inside the park. We had an outdoor bathroom (to keep in mind that only cold water is available) and a nice terrace with a hammock. The restaurant in front of the hotel is convenient but pick the safest choices possible as I got sick from the food. Would be great to add mosquito net on the bed or better isolations on doors / windows, as well as a separation between the terraces of 2 rooms (privacy screen between the 2 cabanas entrances)
- Clara (10/5): -
- Maximiliano (7/5): Buen hotel.

- Ozgun (8/5): A beautiful place to disconnect from everything. - The scenery was amazing! One of the most beautiful places we have ever been too. Many beaches and a great place to swim. All the food options were good and also different variations. Special shout out to the receptionist and the girl at the restaurant: Alejandra. She was really sweet, hard working and helpful. The internet does not work in the room. Would have been nice to have more things to hang your stuff. The men that work at the bar/ restaurant, are not nice to people who are from the queer community.

- Charlotte (7/5): - It is in a really convenient spot on La Piscina beach, and only 20-25 minute walk to El Cabo San Juan beach. The staff were friendly, and organised our horse to carry luggage back etc. Provided beach towels which was really convenient, and filled up water bottles with potable water, which saves a lot of money. The nicest accommodation we saw in the area. WiFi didn't reach our room, I guess it kinda goes with the aesthetic of the area, but at that price point we expected WiFi to reach our room. Service at the restaurant was very hit or miss, sometimes amazing, sometimes not (forgetting to bring our drinks and having to ask again etc). The restaurant is very expensive, I can understand as it must cost a lot to get resources to the area, but just expect average food for UK prices.
- Luc (10/5): Beautiful Tayrona National Park - We loved everything about this place. We booked it for our wedding anniversary. The nearby beaches are wonderful. In fact, we preferred swimming there than in Cartagena. We loved the outdoor bathroom. Very peaceful place to relax with your spouse. There is nothing that we didn't like. The only thing people need to keep in mind is how to get there. We took the longest way through the jungle (13km+). Just be mindful on how you want to reach this place.
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - Location is awesome. Right next to La piscina beach. Staff is very kind and Friendly. WiFi was not working well, but it’s not a bad thing in such remote places as it helps us to disconnect. Lovely bathroom and shower! Unluckily we were staying at same time than a noisy family and they were staying next door. A bit pricy for the infrastructure, but I guess it’s the price of that type of location.
- Daniela (9/5): Beautiful unique stay - Beautiful little cabin to spend one or two nights top. There is a fan on the ceiling that does the Job of keeping you cool at night and away from mosquitos. Excelent location and excelent restaurant Everything was as expected. There is not not water but that was ok
- Karen (9/5): Fantastic! - Idyllic setting right on the beach. The room was rustic, the outside bathroom a fun touch. The staff were all really friendly. A great place to stay. Quite expensive
- Fernando (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqui (6/5): looks lovely but overpriced - great outdoor bathroom
good breakfast
water available free from the restaurant next door
nice outside seating area disappointingly small room, only 1 bedside table for 4 people
a bit basic for the price
- Ewka (9/5): Very nice place to enjoy a longer stay in Tayrona NP - Perfect stay for a 2 day visit to Tayrona NP. Nice outdoor shower, good food. -
- Joanne (8/5): Best Accommodation by far inside the park! - LOCATION such a stunning setting right be La Piscina beach! Definitely the nicest accommodation inside Tayrona park! Comfy beds. Nice outdoor bathroom (cold water shower only) with towels and beach towels provided. Nice toiletries. Complimentary water (jug refills at the restaurant). Staff in the restaurant were really friendly! No mosquito net which we couldn’t believe for a jungle setting especially with rooms that only have shutters/mesh windows. One ceiling fan in the 4 person rooms wasn’t enough to keep us cool throughout the night. Roll down wicker curtains only cover 2/3 of the shutters so lighting from the garden illuminates the room at night (bring an eye mask!). Food was expensive for what it was (same everywhere inside the park though). Accommodation also expensive for what it was but again appreciate it’s because it’s inside the park. Also, I’m not sure why they don’t have their booking system linked to Booking.com. To confirm my booking a payment had to be made through a third party payment system months before my arrival. On checking in the receptionist tried to tell me (using Google translate) that I had an outstanding balance of the full amount to pay even though I’d paid in full months previously. Due to lack of phone signal and initial problems trying to access the free WiFi it was difficult for me to access my emails to show my confirmation of full payment, so I’d definitely recommend taking a screenshot (or printed copy) of your confirmation in advance.
Wifi is very glitchy but to be expected! Tip - there is more than one WiFi to access, just ask for it.
- Charlotte (9/5): Superb - Location is amazing - restaurant is great - rooms are lovely
We loved the outdoor bathroom The night is expensive for the region but compared to other options in the park ( very few option) this seems to be the best
- Lydia (8/5): Very good -
- Karolina (10/5): What a magical place - Beautiful place, right by the beach, with a restaurant next door. Comfortable rooms made an overnight stay in Tayrona with kids really great. We loved our time here.
- Karmel (4/5): Disappointing - the location is stunning, the hammock was great. Gaps between door and floor allowing for insects to go in at all times. Windows have no net so cannot open. that would be ok if there was a mosquito net on the bed, but there wasn't. Staff very nice but unhelpful. Water cuts and wifi cuts pretty frequent.
- Akepong (7/5): Good -
