• Timothy (10/5): A wonderful hotel with excellent hosts in a breathtaking setting - On this trip I spent two weeks traveling throughout Switzerland and a few nights each in Austria and Germany as well. I stayed in a total of six hotels. Without a doubt, the Hotel Sunnmat was my favorite. First of all, Aeschi is probably the most stunning place I have ever seen; beautiful rolling green pastures dotted with well-cared-for wooden Swiss homes draped with colorful flowers on their terraces, a breathtaking mountain backdrop, and the gorgeous, deep-blue Lake Thun just a mile or so below. Aeschi is peaceful and not situated in a crowded, touristy area, but it is an easy car ride away from Interlaken (20 minutes) and Lauterbrunnen (30 + minutes). It is also very easy to get to the wonderful lakeside towns like Thun and Spiez by car or public transportation. As far as hospitality is concerned, Theodor and Beatrice, the hosts, were wonderful. Breakfast was delicious, served in a sun-lit room with beautiful views of Aeschi. The room was very clean and comfortable and tidied each day. The purpose of my trip was hiking and when I told Theodor I was interested in a local hike around Aeschi, he brought me a map of the different hiking trails in the area. He recommended an incredible one that took me through the beautiful fields and forests of Aeschi, not to mention views of Lake Thun as well. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Everything about it was wonderful and if I ever return to Switzerland, I will be sure to come back to the Hotel Sunnmat.

• LapėSnapė (10/5): Ein rundum gelungener Aufenthalt in traumhafter Lage - Wir haben nur ein paar Tage in diesem Hotel verbracht, aber der Aufenthalt war mehr als perfekt. Erstens liegt das Hotel an einem wunderschönen Ort mit fantastischem Blick auf die Berge und den See. Außerdem ist man von hier aus in etwa einer Stunde bei den beliebten Hotspots. Die Lage selbst ist super ruhig und mitten in der Natur – einfach perfekt zum Abschalten. Unser Zimmer war zwar schlicht, aber völlig ausreichend für uns. Wir waren sowieso die meiste Zeit unterwegs, um die Umgebung zu entdecken – und dafür war’s genau richtig. Besonders erwähnen möchte ich die makellose Sauberkeit. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und lecker – es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Die Gastgeber sind ein total herzliches und sympathisches Paar – man fühlt sich bei ihnen sofort wie zu Hause. Vielen Dank für die gemütliche Atmosphäre – wir kommen ganz bestimmt wieder! Nichts – für uns war alles perfekt.

Clean and nice looking inside - Breakfast was very good, location was amazing with a nice view of grassy hillside below, and mountains around. Very nice hosts, Theodore spoke good English so it was easy for me to communicate with him. The room could be a little bigger, but it was good for the price and I'm also used to American size hotel rooms. I also arrived later than my expected time and the door was locked, Theodore said he had emailed me about how to get in with a code and a key but I didn't get the emails, but anyways after waiting around a while I called and was very glad to be able to get in to my room at around 11pm. It's a bed and breakfast style/pension/hotel?, so I guess there's not a lobby open 24/7! Their kindness and hospitality more than made up for the ordeal getting in the first night.

With travel pass issued on arrival, you can have free bus to nearby places. Nice balcony with table and chairs. Super delicious homemade breakfast is the cherry on top. • Nikita (9/5): Cozy comfortable stay with warm hosts and amazing breakfast - Beatrice and Theo were amazing hosts. Very prompt with their help and support and very warm in their hospitality. My partner and I already miss the place and our morning interactions with them over breakfast. The breakfast was amazing. Although it was the same menu for all days with variations in the fruits, jam and juice, my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Theo's egg cooking skills are really commendable. The accommodation is in a very residential and local area a little away from Spiez but the people there are very friendly and welcoming of tourists. They also spoke English quite well so communication was not much of a challenge. Nothing at all. Though its good to mention for the benefit of other tourists and travelers that while there is a bus stop really close by, the frequency of that bus line is not that often. Almost every hour and after 5/6 pm that line is not functional. However, there is another location named Aeschi Post, just a 10-12 minute walk away and that bus line is operational well into the night and is more frequent.

Our room was big and spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We also had a balcony, so had an amazing view of the alps and the surrounding areas. The breakfasts were delicious and freshly prepared and just what we needed to start the day. Thanks to Theo and Beatrice for being so welcoming and helping us with planning our time in Aeschi.

WiFi connection was also very good. The bathroom was very narrow, and I had never seen a smaller wash basin design.
