Good kitchen It would be excellent if the information file was up to date
A blind or thicker curtains in the bedroom would be amazing
Just a wonderful spring clean to make it perfect
- Vernon (10/5): We’ll stay here again. - Comfortable with everything we needed for exploring Adrian’s Wall and the local area. N/A
- Amy (10/5): -
- Mandy (10/5): Fab stay great location - Everything was great could of asked for anything more. The locals were really friendly and couldn't help us enough
- John (10/5): Comfy, cozy, peaceful - The cottage was lovely and in a beautiful peaceful location. Beds were very comfy, kitchen and living room well equipped and with a lovely log burner. We had some issues upon arrival but what our host Juliet did to put things right was above and beyond. Couldn't have asked for a nicer host and we're really looking forward to staying again.
- Heleen (10/5): - We had a lovely stay! It was peaceful, quiet, and the place had everything we needed and more. Exactly what we had hoped for. Thank you!
- Sue (9/5): Comfortable and relaxing stay - everything we needed for home from home stay We only stayed one night due to attending funeral service, otherwise we would have stayed longer. The only issue I had was with putting the key back in the lock box, but Juliet was really helpful and we managed to sort it.
- Alastair (9/5): Very clean and comfortable cottage - Very clean and comfortable cottage. Very good facilities. Very handy location in quiet village close to Hexham, Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle etc. Very helpful information from hosts ahead of arrival and in the cottage.
- Leeanne (9/5): -
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautifully kept cottage, great base for walking will definitely stay again - Beautiful cottage that has everything you need. The bed was so comfy and warm. The log burner was great for a cozy evening after walking in the cold and wet. Dogs bowl and towels provided for our dog and a basket of goodies for us. Much appreciated. Due to the cold weather it was cold on arrival and took a while to warm the house. But it soon warmed up. Gutted pub wasn’t opened on a Saturday night but this wasn’t the property owners fault
- Richard (9/5): The property was ideal for our needs and we had a fantastic short fishing trip in beautiful Northumb - Cosy warm well-equipped property in quiet location that ideally suited as a base for our salmon fishing trip A dedicated off road car parking space would have been better
- pauline (9/5): Well equipped, would stay again - Well equipped house, spacious with comfortable bed. Lovely woodburner. Generous supply of extras like tea and coffee, initial logs etc. Small back garden perfect for dog at night. Walks nearby. Handy parking near house (just other side of road). Didn't find the sofa very comfortable, but everything else was great.
- Jane (10/5): Cosy, quiet, rural - Lovely, well kitted out cosy cottage. No problems with parking and accessing the property. Very quiet village in a lovely rural setting.
- Klaus (9/5): -
- Marc (10/5): -
- Alexander (10/5): Peaceful relaxing stay, highly recommended - Cosy warm and clean Nothing it was fabulous
- Anne (9/5): - The cottage has been remodelled very tastefully, the bedrooms were comfortable and quiet. We had everything we needed for an excellent, but brief, stay.
- Renee (8/5): Lovely little cottage in an area very convenient to explore Hadrian's Wall. - Location was very idyllic and the place cozy and welcoming. The area was remarkably quiet around the cottage except for Saturday evening when there was a good deal of loud conversations from people departing the pub nearby. Maybe not a problem in cooler weather when windows are closed, but it was very disruptive in the middle of a heat spell with open windows necessary to keep interior comfortable.
- Kim (8/5): Cosy, Comfortable and Clean Cottage - Great location close to Hadrian’s wall and other amazing places to walk Hareshaw linn walk was lovely(bit of a climb but worth it. ) Beautiful wee house with great outdoor space, big enough for when we were there. The house has everything needed for a very comfortable stay. One slight issue and I mean slight, our stay was Monday-Thursday and the pub almost next door was closed until Wednesday eve which meant, as we didn’t want to cook, we had to drive to a place (not far to be fair) for dinner. Which in turn meant one of us couldn’t have a drink. However when the pub was open eve before our departure (it was a little rough around the edges) the owner was a delight and very welcoming and his wife made a fantastic fish and chips! The other thing to be aware of, a lot of walks from the house have become overgrown and are difficult to do as a result we tried several but didn’t get far unfortunately. Beautiful scenery though.
- Geoff (10/5): Quiet relaxing stay in a comfortable cottage. - Could not fault the cottage. Virtually everything we needed was available, was clean and comfortable, and in a beautiful quiet location.
Plenty of roadside parking even though the cottage does not have off road parking on site. A shaver point or a 2 pin supply would be useful.
- Barbara (6/5): Did not meet the host but communication was good and house is great for 4 people is not for solo travellers like me and - The house is very clean The location has nothing in the village
- Vicki (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location very quiet bed was absolutely amazing Absolutely nothing to dislike
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Colin (9/5): Superb - Cottage was clean, homely and in a nice quiet village. The area is perfect with lots to do Nothing
- Alistair (7/5): A bit of a shame the hotel was virtually closed and the shop gone, sign of the times! -
- Surja (10/5): Perfect stay! -
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic, relaxing stay! - Such a beautiful little cottage, so peaceful and had everything we needed. Good secure garden for our dog. Loved the outdoor table and chairs too. We had a nice meal and drinks at the pub literally never door!
Beautiful surroundings. The hosts even left a wee welcome basket with snacks. Will definitely be back. Nothing.
- Craig (10/5): Cottage is superb. Highly recommend. -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Very pleasant - owners were very helpful when we asked to stay an extra night. - Very warm & cosy. Very comfortable beds. We struggled with the TV channels. We are in our 70s & at home we usually watch the main channels (BBC, ITV etc.
We ended up watching just SKY news.
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cosy cottage, well equipped, beautiful area
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely, well equipped place, the welcome basket was excellent. Lovely and warm on a cold weekend. Great place to see the night sky from. And a good base for some beautiful walks, we even saw a barn owl. The information folder was detailed, and it was helpful that they emailed it in advance.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable, tasteful, warm and well equipped Nothing
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (9/5): Great little cottage. - It was clean, comfortable and well laid out.
- Mara (10/5): Lovey Location - Great location to explore the area, bathtub and fireplace were wonderful.
- Lewis (10/5): Perfect - Easy to find, based on the hosts instructions. Absolutely loved the living room area, the log burner and fire place was beautiful. Kitchen was fully equipped, with all utensils that you would ever need. There were loads of additional extras, including travel cot, fire guard, hoover, cleaning products, local guides, takeaway menus, tea and coffee, biscuits, crisps, extra logs for the fire. The hosts gave us extra information about the local pub, which was closed but had given us information about where to find the next pub. overall 10 out of 10 experience. Lovely cottage. very happy with our stay. would highly recommend and would happily return in the future.
- Simon (9/5): Very comfortable cottage in beautiful and peaceful location - Simply, but beautifully furnished, well equipped kitchen, lovely bed.
Wonderful walks from the front door.
Easy parking in village. Nothing significant
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (8/5): Enjoyable stay in a comfortable home - Well appointed kitchen and facilities
Comfortable bed Generally clean, but some areas had crumbs and cobwebs, so it could have been better.
- Mikeyboy (10/5): Tranquility under the stars 🌟 - EVERYTHING! The cottage was like coming home to a warm hug. Just perfectly appointed, with everything you would need. And the bed is like a cloud. We have just returned home today after 3 wonderful nights discovering Northumberland from this little gem of a place. There is a pub in the village, but this is currently waiting to reopen. However, we had a lovely walk along the river to The Crown at Humshaugh. Stargazing from the cottage garden was stunning, so many shooting stars.
Juliet and Chris were perfect hosts, there was lots of information about the area and cottage, and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. We would love to return and are already thinking of another visit later this year. Thank you so much. From Debbie and Mike. Absolutely nothing. We have no negatives.
- Karen (10/5): Lovely cottage in idyllic setting - This cottage is extremely homely and has everything you need for a perfect stay. Lovely walks close by, so much to see and do in the area. We had the most special stay. Village pub is closed. It would have been great to be able to have the odd meal out.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Extremely comfortable and well-equipped. A quirt location. Nothing.
- David (10/5): Gorgeous house in gorgeous location - Lovely house in the very quiet and beautiful village Barrasford. Spotlessly clean and comfortable with everything you could ask for for an enjoyable stay. The location is super convenient for Hadrian's Wall and other Northumberland attractions. Very easy to find and park too. We only stayed a couple of nights but would happily stay for much longer. Highly recommended. I was probably being a bit dim but I couldn't get any 'normal' channels on the TV - only internet ones. So if you're happy to watch BBC via the Iplayer only for instance then great. But then who on earth would want to sit inside watching TV in such a beautiful part of the world anyway?!! So not even remotely a major issue.
- Olena (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): A lovely stay in a great location for visiting the surrounding area. - It was comfortable and well equipped.

- Amanda (10/5): Comfortable cottage with all the facilities to make for an enjoyable stay. - Nice to have a supply of tea and coffee. Bed very comfortable. All good
- Emma (10/5): Cute cottage with friendly, thoughtful hosts, in beautiful countryside location. - What a lovely little place! Fully equipped kitchen, cosy lounge, and the bed with huuuuuge duvet was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of it.
The hosts provided lots of useful information about the cottage and surrounding areas, including local walks and interesting places to visit, and the small hamper of snacks/breakfast, and additional items such as a towel and water bowl for my pup were cute added touches which made us both feel very welcome! 😊
- Colin (9/5): Superb -
- Julie (10/5): So pleased I chose this cottage, perfect - Beautiful cottage; clean, warm and cosy with a lovely home from home feel. Very high quality of comfortable furniture and soft furnishings. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone.
- Joanne (10/5): Fabulous accommodation - Wonderful log burner and extremely comfortable large bed. Really lovely place and nice thoughtful touches Pub next door was closed. Be better in the summer
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saskia (10/5): We'd definitely stay here again. Owners were very helpful and replied quickly. - A delightful cottage. We'd definitely stay here again. Owners were very helpful and replied quickly.
A lot of thought and care had gone into the information pack, with detailed descriptions of local walks, star gazing and local attractions etc. The welcome pack including crisps, biscuits and sachets of hot chocolate was much appreciated.
The large bed was super comfy. Bed linen and towels were high quality. The owners let us know in advance that the local pub/restaurant is temporarily closed, so we brought food to cook on our first night. We enjoyed the night sky from the garden. Nothing to complain about.
- Clare (10/5): Generous hosts, great communication! Couldn’t fault them :) -
