Guest Reviews
- Lynneclaire (10/5): Lovely cozy cottage -
- sharon (7/5): Did the job - What a wonderful location. Fire kicked out a lot of heat, so we were warm, and there was plenty of hot water. Parking was fine. One sofa (sofa bed)in the lounge is in very poor shape - we were only a party of 3, so did not have to use it, but if you were a larger group, it was VERY uncomfortable. The cottage is comfortable, but could do with some TLC. We acknowledge the price was fab, but the glasses, cutlery etc all needed cleaning really. An airer would have been useful, just to stand over the bath - the washing line was broken (we have now fixed it) but if the weather is wet, there is no where to hang wet clothes, other than over bannisters etc. Some very small adjustments would make this little place absolutly FAB
- Nora (10/5): Our stay was really cozy. It felt like visiting a friend’s house. - Everything! Helena made the Byre feel like home. She had the best stocked kitchen - all the right utensils, pots/pans, everything we needed; she had helpful hints about what to do while visiting; and she was completely responsive to all of my questions. Oh! And a bookshelf filled with local guidebooks. So so helpful! Absolutely nothing.
- terry (9/5): A really great experience - Airebroc Byre was very comfortable and well equipped. The views were stunning and the location just superb.
The multi fuel burner made it very cosy in the evenings. Will definitely book again if we return to Lewis.
- Mary (9/5): We chose this because we needed to be in the vicinity for a family celebration. We would return just because we were so - It was a cosy mishmash of crofter chic/charity shop treasures but with excellent bed linens and a well equipped kitchen. I loved it! It tested my aging bones getting out of bed!
- Joan (10/5): Wonderful respite from our traveller's around Scotland. - Location, location, location. Also appreciated the detaied information and personal help and contact from the owner
- Serica (7/5): Needs TLC generally - Location and views were super Shabby. Needed a coat of paint on all walls, downstairs ceiling. Needs cupboard door in sitting room to conceal Hoover. China and cutlery is very poor quality.
- Russell (8/5): Quirky cottage on the west coast with lovely views.. - We loved the views and the quirky decor and furnishings. Bed linens and towels were really clean and super quality! Shower was great too, hot water and modern suite. Well equipped with all the cooking utensils, basic seasonings and washing up bits needed. Enjoyed the use of the board game. Was a bit chilly in the Byre even with the plug in heater on, admittedly it did take us to our final night to get the knack with the coal fire. Living room and kitchen could do with a deep clean. It's a bit of a mission to walk to any of the local amenities.
- Caitlin (8/5): Excellent location close to many beautiful beaches - Had a lovely staff at Airebroc Byre over new years. Excellent location close to many beautiful beaches. We loved the friendly sheep next to the house! Our only criticism would be that the house felt quite cluttered… felt like we were staying in someone’s house full of old clutter.
- Ladmann (9/5): First of all I want to thank the owner for being so kind and uncimplicated. Everything was well orga - A Warm and Generous Host with a Beautiful, Cozy Home
First of all, I want to thank the owner for being so kind and accommodating. Although we didn’t meet her in person, everything was thoroughly explained, and we could always reach out for advice whenever we needed it.
We originally booked the Byre for the three of us, but shortly before our arrival, the owner reached out to inform us that she had upgraded us to the main house for free. This was an incredibly generous gesture, as the main house is normally double the price! The original guests had canceled their booking, and she kindly offered this upgrade at no extra charge.
Her kindness didn’t stop there. During our stay, we accidentally left the winter garden door to the backyard slightly open. This allowed water and wind to seep in, causing some minor damage. The owner was incredibly understanding and did not attempt to take advantage of our mistake. Many others might have charged us for such an oversight, but she handled it with grace and compassion (so far, at least! 😀).
The House Itself
The main house is absolutely beautiful and incredibly cozy. Each of us had our own bedroom, complete with huge, comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen and living room are spacious and perfect for a group, ensuring a cozy and relaxed stay. The only thing we missed was a pair of slippers, but literally everything else was thoughtfully provided.
Ideal for a Peaceful Getaway
For anyone seeking a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this place could be exactly what you’re looking for.
