Guest Reviews
- William (7/5): The Taktsangri-la is a pleasant work-in-progress. - The guesthouse was pleasant, and conveniently located very close to the TakTsang trailhead. The staff needs training ... seriously.
Much effort has gone into the development of the property, but now the staff need basic Hospitality Sector training.

- Julie (9/5): Incredible Tiger’s Nest experience! - I adored this stay! It really is more of a homestay experience but with the privacy of your own beautiful room. The owner and staff were so welcoming and helpful. The massage and hot stone bath were outstanding and walk to Tiger’s Nest right from your door. There wasn’t much else around but didn’t matter. I just wanted to relax on the balcony to enjoy that view!

- Nicolaas (7/5): Nice room and location but lacks atmosphere. - Nice room and location but lacks atmosphere. Staff very quiet and not welcoming.
No food or lodging for guide...
- Monish (7/5): - Location, cleanliness, staff, comfort Food options
- Kavita (3/5): Total waste of money. - Closeness to start of Tigers Nest Hike. Poor service despite us being the only ones staying there. Incompetent staff, poor food. Would not recommend.
- Aviv (9/5): - Amazing rooms really beautiful and high quality!
- Lars (9/5): Perfect for a hike up to Tigers Nest - Beautiful hotel in traditional design. Roomy. Good food, very kind helpful staff. Nothing.
- João (9/5): -
- Umang (5/5): Only the location is prime, rest everything is 2 or 3 star. - The architecture and location of the property. The food quality was average and limited to some options only. Wifi was very slow. There was flies everywhere in our room and dinning room. Staff was untrained; only one manager was trained. SPA was still under construction. The rooms were not upto the mark… although the property was renovated they still seem old.
They charge 10% has transaction fee if you pay via card. The general fee is around 3% only. So they need to fix it. I had to flight by way out for it.
- Tapan (10/5): Exceptional - Ambiance was very good, stuff behavior was nice especially karma she was welcoming and helpful.
It is located away from market in an offbeat location surrounded by mountain which we enjoyed a lot.
- Michael (10/5): Peaceful Respite in Beautiful Setting - Beautiful exterior and interior designs. Super friendly and helpful staff. A bit remote from town but perfect for starting a Tigers Nest hike
- Sejpal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aadarsh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pooja (10/5): Great place to unwind. - We absolutely loved our time here. We were on a birthday trip celebrating my partner's birthday. As soon as we entered the property we were taken care of by Missie who gave a beautiful talk about the history of the place and what they've been doing since then !!!
We had just finished hiking the tiger's nest earlier and we were offered the best outdoor hot stone bath of our lives. It was a great place to just unwind with beautiful views right from your bedroom and great staff who take care of you as your own.
We highly recommend this place for your trip to Bhutan. Right the footsteps of the tiger's nest which is very convenient ☺️
- Kausalya (3/5): Don't recommend - A . The location was far away from the city center and nothing available in the vicinity.
B. The hotel is sparsely occupied so there was no buffet breakfast as specified. So everyday we got some sandwich . When asked they said no guests so no buffet breakfast . That is not my problem They have very few staff . And the no 9 there is no response. The whole place goes dead by 9 pm so very eerie at night
- Jayanta (4/5): Disappointing - I liked the view from the rooms.& Nothing else. Very expensive + service is very bad. The food quantity they provide, you will feel like begging..
- Geethika (10/5): A heavenly place - Yoona (fondly called Missie), is the Architect, designer and co-owner of this place. She welcomed us warmly, always smiling and patiently listened to all our"asks" and addressed all our requirements. The place is beautiful in a beautiful, scenic setting, filled with even more beautiful people.
We thought their stone bath was heavenly... The ambience, the bath itself, the open night sky, is a not to miss experience.
Sonam, co-owner and Yoona's husband, is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about Bhutan. I recommend you reach out to them for a complete consultation even while you are planning your trip.
The setting is perfect for team building, leadership outings, yoga retreats, different types of travel groups and also a wedding destination.
Their chef will go out if his way to treat you to Bhutanese and Indian cuisines... Which you will find authentic and True to its nativity just as the perfectly designed resort.
The staff goes out of their way to welcome you and ensure your stay is comfortable beyond your expectations.
I totally recommend Taksangri La as your base as you do other things in Bhutan.
I hope you get to meet Sonam's 84 year old mom and enjoy her company as much as we did.
- Jeanne (9/5): A Dream Come True - Loved the breakfast. I chose to have it in my room each day to enjoy the views. The people were super nice and accommodating. I even asked about a traditional healer and they suggested a friend who came and it was a lovely experience. The hot stone bath was relaxing and the herbs were fragrant and comforting under a starry sky. Especially thankful for the hot stone bath after the long trek to Eagles Nest. My stay was too short. Wi-Fi password wasn’t listed anywhere in the room. I had to wait to the next day to ask for it. I should’ve asked for it right when I checked in:)
- James (10/5): Stay in this peaceful retreat if you plan to hike to Tiger’s Nest - Beautifully decorated with wooden bath looking out to the mountains. Decorative tiles. Wooden balcony. Large comfortable bed.
Fabulous views of Taktsang / Tiger’s nest. Excellent location near the start of the trek.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nimdem was attentive throughout, from looking after suitcases when we arrived early to offering to book a taxi when she noticed mine was late.
Excellent internet.
Warm room even though we were high up in February.
Warm fire in the bar Breakfast options were limited but my omelette was delicious.
- Mandi (6/5): Has potential; lovely building, good staff, but overall is pretty weird - The architecture is lovely, it's a beautifully renovated old building with Bhutanese charm. Staff are welcoming, friendly and the rooms are well designed. It is clean and comfortable. My room booking included breakfast. In Bhutan, breakfasts are generous, with lots of choice. Not so here. Breakfast was mean and just downright strange. One toasted coleslaw sandwich (really!?) and one fried egg. With one cup of coffee. We ended up going straight to a cafe to finish breakfast.
The lack of generosity of the breakfast just left a sour taste (and not just the raw onion in our breakfast coleslaw), in our mouths. It doesn't match the opulence of the surroundings.
- Koji (8/5): Good atmosphere and good experience - Hospitality was wonderful. Wifi was completely down for half of my stay.
There were many extra charges including 20 UK pound fee for using credit card.
- Caren (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (8/5): A newly renovated lodge! - We only stayed for one night, the lodge was newly renovated, very beautiful, but the facilities were incomplete. The room was cold and no hairdryer, but the manager told me that they were working on it. The manager from India was excellent, so was the staff. She woke up early to bid farewell and helped me with luggage, which I appreciated.
- Thuy (10/5): Wonderful! - a nice, peaceful place to stay. very close to Tiger's nest. friendly, nice staff. meals are always served in the room, delicious food. The reality is more beautiful than the pictures taken by the hotel. If slippers and hair dryer were added to the room, it would be perfect.
- Christopher (10/5): Beautiful stay - thank you - The location was super, very close to Taksang, and set in a very quiet street. Beautiful view of the mountains from the bedroom. the staff were very attentive and caring. We even practiced some mindfulness together in the morning. The food was very good - fresh from their own garden. Overall my favourite place in Paro after my third visit. All was good - it might be helpful for the staff to learn some hospitality procedures a little better. Still in a learning process.
- Christopher (10/5): Secluded beautiful location - thank you - Very quiet, new. Secluded but beautiful. Friendly staff. Can walk directly up to Tigers Nest from here. Also walk in the forests at the base of the bills. Wonderful food.
