Guest Reviews
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Vicky (10/5): Excellent boutique hotel nestled in nature - Very modern and such a beautiful place. Having your little plunge pool along with a marvelous view and nestled right in the thick of nature. -getting uber can be very challenging
-bus sometimes do not stop at the location
-no hot water đ
- Justin (8/5): Very good -

- Felicity (1/5): Unacceptable experience - stranded with nowhere to stay - Didnât get a chance to experience it We had a reservation at this hotel in the National Park and confirmed earlier that day via email that we were on our way, with an expected arrival around 6/6:30 PM. Unfortunately, due to unexpected local protests and roadblocksâincluding fires set on the roadâwe were delayed and didnât arrive until 8:30PM.
We attempted to call the hotel before their 7:00 PM check-in cutoff, but the number provided did not work. I sent a message before 7 PM to inform them of our delay. When we arrived, the property was completely dark, with no lights, no staff, and no way to access the premises. Another couple was also there, trying to check in. Thankfully, we had asked our taxi to wait, but with no one around and no communication from the hotel, we had no choice but to leave and return to Santa Marta. It was simply unsafe to stay outside in such a remote location.
After the fact, we were informed that the hotel had lost electricityâapparently a regular occurrence in the area. Yet, no warning was ever given about this, either in advance or upon our booking. Even more concerning, despite our message and email that morning confirming our arrival, the hotel made no effort to wait even one hour past check-in to receive us, knowing full well how isolated their location is.
This was an extremely disappointing and stressful experience. I strongly advise future guests to think twice before booking unless the hotel improves its communication and support. Being left stranded in the dark, with no way to access your accommodation, is simply unacceptable. If it hadnât been for our taxi driver we would have been stranded with no phone signal, no room and no where to sleep.
- Lissa (9/5): Nyia is a peaceful setting, surrounded by lush gardens and the sound of falling water. - Nyia is paradise on earth, quite literally. The food was incredible and the staff were darling. Stay at Nyia, you wonât be disappointed. There are only two things I would change or improve: the rooms require a small refrigerator as I drink my water etc. really cold and a set of thinner pillows. The pillows are very luxurious but too thick for my liking.
- Justin (8/5): Staff was great and friendly. Food was excellent. - The property was great as long as you are able to walk stairs. The pool was nice. It was really in the middle of no where. They kept promising hot water but never go it. The private hot tub was freezing cold and always dirty
- Angelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely lovely stay! Great, calm location. Staff very helpful in getting to know the area etc. beautiful garden and area! Highly recommend :)
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - Everything very good
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominique (6/5): Nice pictures , keep your expectations low and you will enjoy - 30 minutes from to the Tayrona National Park entrance This hotel do not supply any hot water . You will enjoy a very cold shower as the water is source from the river . This hotel is not new but just partially renovated , no attention to details.Itâs close to a very busy and noisy road with thousands of trucks and buses . The food is ok but the service slow and amateurish.
- Paul (9/5): Little sĂșper comfortabel paradise with superb restaurant. - Superb relaxed little resort in the middle of nature and near the river. Excellent food from the restaurant run by very friendly and hospitable Humberto. Superb view from the room with top terrace.
We spend 2 full days in the resort because we loved it all and no need to leave. The water in the private pool unfortunately seems not filtered meaning it includes a lot of sand and very tiny âsnakesâ ( 1-3 cm ). Whereas the detergent being used also made the water non transparent the pool was not very attractive for us to use.
- Tamara (9/5): Superb - The staff was exceptional friendly and helped us in every way :) the food was excellent! The shower was cold and the water pressure very low .. it would be great if at least the water pressure was stronger so you donât need to stay so long under the cold shower
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional - My partner and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, and the staff, especially Ariet, made our experience even better. She was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Despite my late check-in, she stayed to personally ensure we were settled and had everything we needed. Ariet went above and beyond to assist us whenever necessary, making us feel truly taken care of.
- Lionel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josh (10/5): Absolutely beautiful new hotel in a picturesque and serene location with the most amazing staff - Amazing setting with the river, pool and beautiful gardens. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! Dinner meals were tasty. The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. They are doing amazingly well for a newly opened hotel. The shower didnât work properly (cold water only and not enough pressure for the lovely shower head to function properly). The paintwork in the bathroom in particular was quite bad and detracted from the rest of the bathroom which was absolutely beautiful.
- Guilhem (10/5): Idilic stay and jungle - Idilic location by the river Nothing
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional - Magical place
- Joehenis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luisa (10/5): Comfortable, relaxing and beautiful!!!! - The place is BEAUTIFUL! Great rooms with private hot tubs, a river, amazing pool and restaurant! I loved it. Staff is AMAZING, friendly and nice always attentive Everything was amazing, food is a bit pricey so be prepared for that although very good and tasty. I recommend you take snacks and beverages like water, since the menu is quite limited.
- Liesbet (10/5): If you want to disconnect and relax, this is the place to be. - Gorgeous location. Beautiful, spacious rooms. Love the rooftop terrace to watch the sunset. Youâre fully immersed in nature by the sound of birds, the river, the trees. The food was delicious. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They gave us a tour around the property. There are so many decks where you can drink a coffee and enjoy your surroundings. 100% recommend and will come back.
- Patrick (5/5): Difficult to recommend - This is a unique property with spacious rooms. The private plunge pool is a gimmick but nice to have. Dinner at the restaurant was pricey but excellent. The main pool by the river is also a nice addition. Concrete floors might be "in", but given they're not polished and splattered with paint the room feels unfinished and cheap. The air conditioner struggled to cool such a large room overnight, the TV would not connect to the internet, rendering it useless, and there was no storage in the room besides 2 tiny bedside tables. It's also a shame there's no hot water at this price point. Based on the poor maintenance it's hard to believe this is a new property. We were surprised to find a loose toilet seat, wonky tap and stains on the concrete vanity in the bathroom.
For a premium property, the service was also very disappointing. The guy checking us in (who happened to be one of the chefs) tried to charge me the additional tax foreign visitors are exempt from, to much confusion. Unfortunately it didn't end there - the skeletal staffing model we experienced was most noticeable in the restaurant where long waits can be expected. Breakfast was underwhelming and took far too long. As we were leaving the restaurant shortly after 10:30, the check in guy appeared and unexpectedly asked us to vacate the room by 11:00 - despite telling us the day before check out was midday and it being listed as such in the terms and conditions we signed. The cleaner sitting in the adjacent room with nothing to do confirmed the reason for this. Pathetic. The assertive, pushy attitude of this staff member was such that we didn't feel comfortable addressing any of these issues upon departure.
More investment in staff training, room facilities and general upkeep of the hotel is clearly needed.
- ElĂas (10/5): Great site and staff, 100% recommended! -
- Leonieke (10/5): Amazing - The hotel just opened a month ago, but our stay was amazing. The team at Nyia went above and beyond for us. We would like to thank Esteban, Humberto, Jesus, and his family for making our trip special.
The food at the property was fantastic; we even got to try the chef's new menu. Also, they have the cutest cat and dogs!
If you want to escape the hectic atmosphere of Colombian cities and feel you deserve some much-needed rest, this is your place. The national park is a 40-minute bus ride away, which is a must if you have a couple of days.
The rooms are very comfortable, featuring huge beds, private small pools, and amazing rain showers. The property offers the fastest Wi-Fi connection we have experienced in Colombia, available throughout the hotel.
Once again, a big thanks to the staff!
- Joell (10/5): Exceptional - High quality facilities. I really like the river that's pretty close to the hotel. The rooms are excellent.
- Michael (9/5): You will have a wonderful time here and meet a highly motivated staff! - This entire stay was just wonderful. The room is very spacious and the beds are very cozy. The best thing above all is the staff. They are super friendly and give you a lot of attention. I was sick the first two days and they even did some grocery shopping for me to get water and medicine. Its amazing to be at the river in nature and the green-white bus is easy accessible to go to Tayrona, Palomino or back to Santa Marta.
They have two Dogs who are wonderful. Normally I would give it 10 points but there were a few small things that got my attention that can be improved. 10 to me means everything is absolut on point.
Nevertheless - You cant do anything wrong coming here! I stayed four days and absolutely enjoyed it. So again - book it! There were a few minor things. Before I want to mention, that I am sure the team would try to fix most of them throughout your stay, if you would ask them. Yet those are the reasons I reduced my rating from 10 to 9, because in my opinion it should be given from the start.
- Shower head was very calcified and did not work properly. The water came out at the edge instead of normally through the nozzles.
- The water of my balcony pool was dirty and I wouldnt have wanted to go inside (again, If I would have told them, I am sure they would had get it cleaned).
- There was no water in the Jaccuzi next to the main pool
- The water of the main pool seemed to be dirty (doable to swim ofc, but not very clean)
- It was not everything available on the restaurant menu. (BUT the cook Jesus and team itself was great!!) The Food itself is very good!
- Looking closely at the walls of my room especially around the sink, toilette, wall shelves etc. they did not properly paint the wall. I guess they added the furniture first and then painted around which appears here and there cheap.
So its just minor points on a single basis, but they added up to me which resulted in one removed point. If you will be able to fix them you truly deserve the highest rating :)
- Tengiz (10/5): Reconnecting with nature in a comfort of a tailored boutique experience. - Location is very unique: it is accessible easily from the main road but going deeper into the jungle, facing natural fresh stream with small waterfalls and Tayrona mountains allowing you to enjoy the perfect view. Opposite to the reviews in many other places - this hotel is very quiet, you can't hear the cars, only pure nature. Rooms are very big, bed is comfy, huge shower, A/C and best part - personal jacuzzi. Hotel territory also features a bigger shared pool, decks for yoga / chill, restaurant with amazing food by the local chef. Oh well, and 2 cutest dogs together with a kitten. Bonus: the weather here is pretty nice and cooling as it is based at higher altitude. Staff are just awesomely nice people. We came when the hotel was operating for the first 2-3 weeks, so there was no hot water yet, which was reflected in the price and didn't bother us much. The owner mentioned that it would have been fixed already just after we left so you should be good. Take mosquito spray when staying outside.
- TomĂĄs (10/5): Exceptional -
- 1eonid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jazz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katharina (10/5): Wonderful get away close to Santa Marta and Tyrona! - We absolutely loved it! The perfect jungle hideaway with a great pool, wonderful service and amazing people around! The perfect mix between Colombian nature and a modern and chick hotel standard.
The team will do everything in their power to make the stay as comfortable for you as possible.
It is well located, not too far from Santa Marta and neither from attractions like Tyrona park.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would 100% recommend this place + we will come back for sure! Everything was wonderful!
- Carlos (10/5): Esteban and the entire staff were amazing and made our experience unforgettable - Everything was beautiful The power lost
- Vittoria (10/5): Great staff, amazing location - Brand new amazing rooms, location is great in the middle of the forest with a private river nearby. The staff is great, everyone is super nice and Esteban, the manager is also a great chef. Highly recommended if you want to spend relaxing days or to get to Tayrona. Everything was perfect
- Yannick (10/5): Exceptional - We've come to Nyia hotel very shortly after its opening, so still some small things to figure out, but all in all it is an amazing place.
Perfect service & hospitality, Esteban and the rest of the staff is very kind and helpful, couldn't have been any better. The rooms are very nice, spacious and clean.
The food is amazing, 10/10
- Marcello (9/5): Wonderful . Would stay again and recommend to friend. - The view and the setting is excellent. Staff is very accommodating. Our room was very large and had an amazing view of the mountains. Having private jacuzzi with a view was very nice as well.
The pool is quite large and sits above a wonderful creek.
I find this place to be a perfect combination between modern amenities and raw nature. At the time of our visit the place had only been opened for a few days. Some details are still being worked out as far as room furnishings and food offerings. I am sure they will handle such improvements in a timely fashion.
- Merel (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing, brand new, accommodation! Still needs a bit of work, but the studioâs are AMAZING!! If you want to relax somewhere near Tyrona National Parc, or recover from a stomach-virus like us, this is the place to be for 1-2 nighta. Keep up the good work Esteban & Friends.
