Guest Reviews
- Sand3777 (9/5): - You feel so welcome as soon as you get to Dallymach pod, Jeff and Kathryn are just the best hosts: welcoming, warm, chatty, giving out great advice and unobtrusive.
And the pod, although small is absolutely perfect for one person. The wind can blow in gales, the rain may fall on the roof, you are safe and sound in the pod. And you wake up to the sounds of sheep and birds.
I highly recommend this lovely place for a stay in South Uist as close to Eriskay, Barra, North Uist!
- Roland (10/5): - Wir haben vier wundervolle Tage hier verbracht, die Vermieterin war außerordentlich hilfsbereit . Und die Lage in Meeresnähe ist natürlich top!!!

- Rachel (10/5): Great hosts, super helpful. Cosy pod kept miserable weather outside and kept us warm and comfortable. - Had everything we needed. Small but cosy. Sofa wasn’t the most comfortable but that be our only issue
- Elisabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Owen (9/5): I had a great time. The pod was the ideal base for exploring the islands. - The pod was great, as were the hosts. The pod was warm, cosy, well equipped, in a beautiful location, an ideal base for a week of hill walking in the Uists and Barra. The only issue was that the wifi wasn't working. Fortunately I had some of my monthly mobile internet data still available, but I had to use it very sparingly.
- Craig (8/5): Very good - The pod was compact but contained everything we needed. Being on a working farm was a lot of fun surrounded by animals and birds. Jeff and Kathryn were great hosts More precise directions on how to find the place.
Better Wifi
- Lynn (9/5): Superb - Location was amazing, hosts amazing. When our ferry was cancelled and we could not get to the pod untill the following day Kathryn refunded the first night. Cosy bedroom. It was hard to adjust the shower to a usable temperature. Unable to get WiFi in the pod, needed to sit outside on the deck. Seating area uncomfortable plastic.
- Mandy (9/5): Superb - Great location, there's a beach and archaeological site which makes for a nice walking. The pod has everything you need, very well equipped. Very comfortable and cozy. Kathryn and Jeff are very welcoming and have lots of local knowledge No negatves
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (9/5): Comfortable pod-style accommodation in a beautiful place. - A small pod-type chalet in the garden of the house. Small but well-designed to maximise use of the space. Small seating area, small table, kitchen area with microwave and hot plates, well equipped with utensils, pans and plates. Separate shower room and bedroom. Was more comfortable than we had anticipated. Bed comfortable. Seats and a table outside. Lovely location just on the edge of the machair. Quick walk to the beach and 15 minute walk to hotel and supermarket. Lovely hosts. It's a small pod and invariably there are compromises. The bed is quite high and somebody with mobility issues might have problems. Wifi is a bit dodgy but the cell signal is strong and service is fast (Vodafone).
- Lyn (10/5): We would like to have stayed longer. - Life on a croft for a month was ideal. We loved the animals and birds. Having the beach nearby and the Hebridean Way was great for walks. It was a good location for exploring the Islands of Eiriskay , South Uist, Benbecula, North Uist and Berneray. Kathryn, having lived there for a lifetime, was a great source of information about the area. We really enjoyed our time with Jeff too. The pod is very weather-proof and the wind was silenced by shutting of the door. On a better day the windows in the pod were easily opened to hear the sounds of nature. A truly memorable stay. We were there for the summer solstice, when the sun sets at 10.30pm and it hardly gets dark, then the sun rises again at 4.30am. It's not something we are used to. A blind on the main door might be handy. Otherwise, we couldn't be happier. The bedroom has dark blinds, so it is not an issue there.
